About the role

At Breast Cancer Now, we’re seeking a Senior Press & PR Officer to join our ambitious press, PR & celebrity team for 12 months. The role is focused primarily on the charity’s Fundraising portfolio, including our corporate partnerships and high-value fundraising events, all of which raise vital funds that help the charity to deliver world-class research and provide life-changing support for anyone affected by breast cancer. 

About you

As an excellent communicator, you’ll be great at building trusted and influential relationships across a range of stakeholders including colleagues, journalists, external partners and advocates and ambassadors of Breast Cancer Now. This will help you bring our work to life, working collaboratively and effectively and at pace. 

With significant experience in developing and delivering impactful PR campaigns, either in-house or in an agency, you’ll tell powerful stories around our fundraising activity to achieve cut-through in the media and drive further engagement and support (including financial) from our key audiences. 

Always putting the patient voice at the heart of our work, you’ll be innovative and creative in your approach to secure maximum profile for annual events and campaigns, building on previous years’ successes and bringing fresh angles to this work to maximise engagement with the media and key audiences. 

With strong written skills and an instinct for what makes a good news story, you’ll thrive in a fast-paced press office, and always consider how content can be integrated and delivered across communications channels for greatest impact.

Project Background:

The Strengthening Civil Society Representation of Women with Disabilities in Ghana programme commenced in May 2024 and is a 2-year project funded by the European Union. The programme aims to strengthen the capacity for organisations of people with disabilities (OPDs), and organisations of women with disabilities in the areas of management, communication, fundraising, coordination, advocacy, gender, climate change, networking and financial accountability. Sightsavers will build the capacity of two OPDs, namely Women with Disability Development and Advocacy Organisation (WODAO), and the ABAK Foundation. WODAO and the ABAK Foundation will then cascade the capacity building areas downstream to members and partners to strengthen their ability to claim their rights and hold duty bearers to account.

Overall objective

Sightsavers is commissioning a consultant to a conduct a climate change situational analysis with a disability lens in the 33 project districts in the Bono, Bono East, Ashanti, Oti and Volta regions.

The assessment will:

• Assess awareness
• Climate change impact
• Risks
• Climate change response and adaptations
• Climate change policy environment
• Opportunities for adaptation

Duration of Project

The consultancy is expected to take up to 45 days, ideally to start as soon as possible.

Outputs and Deliverables

• An initial proposal outlining how the consultancy will be conducted, including proposed desk review sources, data collection tools, methodologies and the timelines for delivering the consultancy.
• A final report covering the project purposes outlining above and recommendations for Sightsavers, including guidelines for mainstreaming climate change into the programme and for downstream partners.

Budget and payment schedule

The consultant can invoice against the following payment schedule:

• 40% at the end of Phase 2
• 60% at the end of Phase 4 

 Minimal qualifications for a Lead Consultant/ Team Members

• The consultant(s) must provide evidence of skills, experience and knowledge in climate change (essential) and disability inclusion (desirable).
• The consultant(s) must have experience in monitoring, evaluation, and research.
• The consultant(s) should have provided evidence of conducting climate change analysis or similar assessments along with examples of reports.
• The consultant(s) must demonstrate experience of working as an external consultant(s) for international organisations, the private sector and/or national development organisations.

Before the consultancy commences, the consultant(s) will receive a thorough orientation on the challenges and barriers faced by people with disabilities, including women with disabilities in the Ghanaian context.

An exciting opportunity to join Spitalfields Crypt Trust (SCT), a vibrant East London charity dedicated to supporting individuals affected by homelessness and addiction. This role is crucial in providing personalised support and interventions for those experiencing homelessness and addiction issues, and to create a safe environment that empowers residents to make positive changes in their lives.

Role Overview:

Housing and Service Delivery

• Provide strong and effective support to residents in Acorn House that focuses on their strengths and goals, and is delivered in a personalised way and within a framework of active engagement and co-production
• Developing and reviewing support plans that reflect the interests and aspirations of residents
• Induct new residents in line with the service’s policies and procedures and support them to
  continue in their journey towards recovery from addiction
• Carry out assessments of those referred to Acorn House, and induct new residents
• Ensure the fundamental needs of residents are met including good quality accommodation and facilities, healthy food, advice and guidance around benefits, and alcohol and drug testing (to help maintain an abstinent environment)
• Deal with the immediate support needs of residents as appropriate, providing crisis intervention where necessary
• Support residents in addressing physical and mental health issues, including liaison with primary and secondary health teams
• Ensure residents are supported through court or welfare rulings (if necessary)
• Ensure effective and compliant administration of resident data using a bespoke Salesforce- based platform (In-Form)
• Ensure Housing Benefit and Services Charges are collected and managed effectively
• Monitor resident’s physical and mental health, ensuring appropriate support is provided
• Be flexible and responsive at all times to meet the changing needs of the service and the service users and ensuring high quality support is provided.
• Ensure each resident’s support plan is written, monitored and reviewed as appropriate to reflect their changing needs.
• Ensure residents progress and engage with other SCT programmes (when required)
• Ensure conditions and requirements relating to any contracts or management agreements are applied throughout SCT’s services
• Work effectively as part of a team, attending team/ staff meetings and making a positive contribution to the development of the team and wider SCT services

Special Conditions

• This post requires the holder to work varying shifts between 08.00 am and 8.00 pm and participation in the call rota system (for which an additional allowance is paid)
• The post-holder is required to work weekends as part of a rota and Bank Holidays when required

Maintaining our visitor offer will be vital over the next few years as construction will be taking place for Sizewell C, which is on our southern boundary. We also welcome visitors to Dingle and North Warren, where we also aim to provide a rewarding experience.

You will lead a fantastic team and support a culture of exceptional customer service, maintaining the highest standard of visitor welcome and experience.

Day-to-day this role will involve:

• Managing a team and building strong working relationships.

• Monitoring finances and visitor data.

• Overseeing publicity and interpretation.

• The role involves working to targets and will involve some weekend and bank holiday working.

• Sound knowledge of how to deliver the highest standard of customer care.
• Experience of successfully recruiting, leading and developing a team of volunteers and staff to deliver a joined up, coherent and high-quality visitor offer for all visitors to the reserve.
• Experience of proactively promoting the visitor offer through all available channels to target audiences.

About the role

The primary purpose of this role is to support the successful delivery of Transport for All’s communication and engagement strategies. About Transport for All

Transport for All is the disabled-led group breaking down barriers and transforming the transport system so disabled people can make the journeys we want, with freedom, dignity, ease and confidence. We work with our members to campaign for change, influencing governments, industry and the public.

• Recruit and maintain a network of volunteer mentors, in collaboration with the wider Mentoring and Arts Emergency team
• Organise mentor training events and carry out necessary safeguarding measures, including enhanced checks with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for volunteers  
• Promote the mentoring programme with schools, colleges, and other referral partners  
• Manage existing relationships and develop new ones with schools, colleges, and other referral partners
• Manage application and onboarding processes effectively
• Ensure the best possible mentor matches for young people and provide high-quality support throughout their mentoring relationship
• Monitor the programme and share updates proactively with the Mentoring Manager, including reviewing and responding to mentor reports
• Curate monthly newsletters, sharing opportunities with Merseyside-based mentees  

The role can be home or office based, or hybrid. Arts Emergency’s head office is in London and Manchester. We also have access to Spaces offices around the country which can be used by all staff if an office space is needed outside these areas - including a co-working space off Wood Street in Liverpool city centre. Regular travel across Merseyside is essential as part of programme delivery.

Our Senior Practitioners will provide interim cover across SHP, providing supervisory support where needed to staff teams. This could include our Multiple Disadvantage and Complex Needs accommodation services, Young Peoples Services or Floating Support Services.

About the role and services:

Multiple Disadvantage and Complex Needs: These services provide accommodation and support to people who are moving from rough sleeping and who have needs relating to their mental and physical health, their substance addiction, offending behaviour and mental health. Often at the point of referral, a client’s needs have not been met by any of the services they may require. Part of our role is building the trusting relationships required to put the necessary support in place. Understandably, therefore, these services operate in challenging environments and require resilient and compassionate staff.

Young Peoples' Services: These services are dedicated to providing support to young people, specifically in relation to leaving care, offending behaviour, gang affiliation, complex mental health and anti-social behaviour. We work within a strengths and recovery framework embedded within a trauma informed approach to ensure client needs and aspirations are at the centre of the support planning process. Working in these services would mean overseeing the support and development of the young person’s needs and aspirations. The postholder will hold a caseload of complex cases and will be responsible for supporting the team to manage complex cases. You will guide and signpost the young person to the relevant statutory and non-statutory services and will be key in motivating and coaching the young person to develop independent living skills.

Floating Support Services: Focussed on fostering independence and empowering your clients, we work to support individuals to sustain their tenancy, enhance their wellbeing, build resilience, and achieve their goals and aspirations. Whether assisting with housing issues, addressing mental health concerns, or supporting the development of daily living skills, the primary goal is to enable clients to navigate challenges and lead fulfilling lives. All work undertaken will be in line with planned support, making sure that clients are actively involved and that the support offered is full and holistic. You would be part of a supportive and inclusive work environment that values teamwork and individual growth.

We are looking to recruit permanent staff with these qualities to provide SHP’s clients with consistent support in line with SHP’s values, delivery model, policies and procedures and support planning tools.

As a member of the Peripatetic Senior Practitioner Team, you will move between services and will generally cover a rota ‘line’ until we recruit to the vacancy that the worker is covering, providing interim supervisory support to staff teams as directed by the Team/Service manager. (In Multiple Disadvantage, Complex Needs and Young People Services, covering a rota 'line' will involve working on a rota that includes evening work and may also include regular weekend and Bank Holiday work.) You would then be reassigned to another service in need of your support. The role therefore provides an opportunity to model and share good practice between services.

SHP will support you with a comprehensive induction and training package, including how to work in SHP's trauma-informed support model.

About you:

• A high-level understanding and ability to manage the range of issues involved in the delivery of quality services to clients who may be at risk and who have complex mental health needs.
• Experience and an in-depth understanding of the principles and delivery of risk and needs assessment, planned support, goal setting and advocacy with clients within a recovery and strengths model, and the ability to share this and support others to deliver this.
• Demonstrable aptitude for monitoring, developing and supporting staff performance and the ability to motivate staff members to perform effectively.
• An ability to provide flexible and client centred solutions to problems of behaviour. Also, the ability to embed psychologically informed methods of work within an accommodation setting.
• A demonstrably high level of numeracy, literacy and comprehension in order to be able to contribute to budget setting, monitor expenditure, write reports and review, analyse and extrapolate from written information.
• Ability to co-ordinate the work of a number of individuals or agencies to get tasks completed to time and to specification.
• Strong networking skills, and proven ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to establish or improve services to service users.
• Specific skills and expertise support one of the SHP service groups - Adult Multiple Disadvantage and Mental Health Accommodation Services, Young People’s Services or Floating Support Services.

St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity exists so that everyone has a safe place to call home, providing emergency financial help that can transform a person’s circumstances within days. The Charity also funds a range of projects across the UK, providing innovative services within healthcare, legal advice and mental health support to facilitate a long-term transition out of homelessness.  The Charity is at a pivotal stage in their development, building on the hugely successful BBC Radio 4 Appeal that will enter its 100th Anniversary in 2026, diversifying income streams to create year-round opportunities to donate and support their diverse programmes. 
 
The Major Donor Manager will develop and deliver a leading-edge programme of major donor fundraising that maximises sustainable income and long-term value for the Charity, ensuring that high-value fundraising opportunities arising from the 100th anniversary of the BBC Radio 4 Appeal in 2026 are optimised. They will ensure the highest quality of stewardship and supporter engagement, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver a seamless approach to major donor cultivation. Key duties include: 

• Work with the Head of Leadership Giving to further develop the Charity’s major donor fundraising strategy and budget, maximising sustainable net income and capitalising on opportunities afforded by the 100th anniversary of the BBC Radio 4 Christmas Appeal in 2026. 

• Acquire an excellent knowledge and understanding of the Charity’s values and programmes, working collaboratively to provide bespoke donor information and cases for support. 

• Produce and implement solicitation and development plans for existing major donors and prospects, developing opportunities for them to become active and engaged in the Charity’s activities. 

• Establish and deliver a programme of major donor research, solicitation, cultivation and stewardship that drives interest, engagement and major giving. 

• Develop and deliver high quality, innovative and persuasive pitches (including collateral and supporting budgets) to prospective and existing major donors to deliver income and pipeline development targets. 

• Develop relationships with Trustees and other key stakeholders where appropriate in order to access peer networks for potential prospecting, supporting them as peer advocates and ambassadors for the Charity. 

• Establish and support major donor solicitation vehicles (for example volunteer leadership boards) to aid in the delivery of the major donor fundraising strategy and programme. 

• Work collaboratively across the St Martins’ partner charities to ensure major donor relationships are stewarded in a way that optimises engagement and giving to St Martins’ causes. 

 
We’re looking for the following skills and experience: 

• Successful track record in securing and growing financial contributions from major donor audiences. 

• Proven experience working with senior volunteers, influencers or advisers to achieve major donor fundraising success, either from development boards or giving networks.   

• Demonstrable success in converting prospects to donors, personally securing gifts from private individuals of £50k plus. 

• Demonstrable experience of negotiating significant major gifts that have required balancing the demands of major donors with the needs/expectations of the Charity. 

• Experience of deploying prospect research and wealth screening techniques to build major donor supporter and prospect insight. 

• Experience of high value special events and cultivation programmes.
