We are hiring! We have a job vacancy for a Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) / Dementia Coordinator.

Shine has a membership of over 13,500 members living with SpinaBifida and/or Hydrocephalus and associated conditions and over 6,000 associated members.

In the last year we have seen a 25% increase in members who are living with NPH across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. There are currently just under 600 members with NPH, plus their carers registered, but we are expecting this to continue to rise as awareness and diagnosis of the condition grows.

We are looking for an experienced, skilled, organised and dedicated new staff member to join Shine’s Services team to develop and lead our new NPH service.

Location: Home Based or Hybrid * 

(dependent on proximity to our Head Office in Peterborough, with travel across England, Wales & Northern Ireland as required)

Purpose of Job 

To provide the foundations for improved health, social and emotional outcomes for adults living with NPH and to support their families/carers.

To focus primarily on delivering 3 of Shine’s 7 Strategic Goals all of which drive Shine’s ambitions:

·  Goal 3: Adults of all ages with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus have the choices and opportunities to live healthy and independent lives

· Goal 4: A connected community

· Goal 7: Transforming attitudes and improving access to health and care services through engagement, partnerships, research and campaigning   

And contributing to delivery of other strategic goals as appropriate.

Staff management:

1. Shine is committed to providing quality advice and support. As service lead you will provide supervision, training, guidance and support in line with Shine’s HR processes and procedures to other members of staff who are involved in the delivery of work for the NPH service.

Project management:

1. Evaluate existing support for members living with NPH and their families/ carers within Shine

2. Develop and grow the service based on the needs and voice of our members

3. Lead the support of members living with NPH and their families/ carers across England, Wales & Northern Ireland

4. Develop annual work plans, which will enable continued development and delivery of the NPH service

5. Create a framework for the service and develop Shine colleagues to support delivery in key areas

6. To provide training to upskill colleagues in dementia

7. Create greater consistency across all Nations by developing strong working relationships with key colleagues in England, Wales and Northern Ireland

8. Drive collaborative working with the National Programmes and Engagement Manager and the National roles – particularly Health and Benefits

9. To manage any specific project budgets, ensuring spend is planned, within budget and allocated to the appropriate cost centre 

10.  Maintain an oversight on data capture and data management for the work on NPH, alongside the Director of Services develop outcome measures to demonstrate impact

11.  Work in line with GDPR, maintaining confidential member records providing clear and accurate record keeping for monitoring and evaluation

12.  Identify new potential sources of funding as the project develops and contribute to funding bids as requested. 

13.  Working with colleagues in Services, Fundraising, Marketing, Trust and Foundations colleagues and Shine’s membership to identify opportunities for long-term sustainability of the work.

Delivery  

To manage all enquiries from our members living with NPH and their carers, providing direct one to one support and advice including-

·  Welfare benefit/ income maximisation advice

·  Condition specific support to enable the person living with NPH to have choice and control over their current and future care needs.

·  Signposting /referring to more specialist information and support, internally or to other local, regional or national organisations 

You will also:

· In collaboration with Shine’s National Programmes & Membership Engagement Manager, Health and Services colleagues and external partners, lead the delivery of the NPH awareness week once a year

· Review existing and develop new resources for members with NPH alongside the Health team

· Develop and deliver an annual programme of events and peer support groups for members with NPH and their families and carers

· Oversee social media, Facebook and WhatsApp support groups

· Organise steering groups, providing opportunities for Shine members to guide the development of the service, and engage in consultations and research

· Develop partnership opportunities and closer working relationships with health professionals, statutory organisations and charities

· Identify key campaigns to improve the rights of members with NPH, improving access to statutory services, access to NHS care, awareness regarding diagnosis and treatment.

· To work with Shine’s national and regionally based colleagues to ensure that all work is complementary, coordinated and beneficial to our members

Person Specification 

Experience – essential 

· A minimum of 3 years' experience of working with older people living with dementia

· Experience of project management and delivery

· At least two years’ experience of delivering support and advice services for older people.

Knowledge, skills and abilities – essential 

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to build strong relationships both with internal and external stakeholders

· Ability to develop and deliver professional presentations and training in a variety of settings 

· IT literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft 365 and confident in the use of CRM Database systems

· A non-judgmental approach to working with people 

· A good knowledge of adult safeguarding policy, procedures and reporting

Community Engagement Coordinator - Wales

Location: The role will be based out of the BookTrust Offices in Cardiff.  BookTrust works in a hybrid and flexible way with an expectation of a minimum of 8 face to face collaboration days per month which could be at the Cardiff office, visiting partners across Wales and on occasions UK wide travel.  There will therefore be reasonable travel needed to fulfil the role, with occasional overnight stays.

This will involve working with girls to bring about the change they want to see through their research findings.

A key purpose of the technical advisers in the team is to provide policy, advocacy and influencing advise and technical advice to support resource mobilisation and programme quality (when expertise is not in the Federation). Another key purpose of this role is to strengthen AAUK’s reputation as an organisation taking an intersectional feminist, evidence-informed, and decolonial and anti-racist approach to girls’ rights’ research and action, programming and resourcing.

The post holder will have strong, practical experience in developing, supporting, and evaluating the impact of intersectional research led by girl and programming on Girls’ Rights in particular programming that supports adolescent girls’ leadership, reproductive health, prevention and response to harmful practices impacting girls (including early forced and child marriage and FGM/C), gender equality within schools and communities, girls economic rights, and community mobilisation to prevent and respond to violence against women and girls.

The Magpie Project supports women with preschool children who are living in temporary or insecure accommodation in Newham and other London boroughs. We provide stay-and-play sessions alongside casework around housing, immigration, and other related issues, plus healthy home-made food, a baby bank, and a focus on high-quality play and creativity for mums and minis to foster a sense of joy and belonging.
We advocate and campaign, alongside our mums, on the issues which have the greatest impact on their lives. We have grown quickly since our birth in 2017, and we now support over 500 families a year with 11 members of staff and a turnover of approximately £500,000 pa.
We are in a positive position with regards to our fundraising and finances, with several long-term core grants as well as smaller project grants, a number of corporate partners who donate both time and money to the project, and a loyal community of individual donors and fundraisers.
We wear our values on our sleeve and our fundraising, like everything else we do, is grounded in honouring the dignity and agency of the mums and minis who attend the project.
Our three-word strategy has always been “ask the mums”, which keeps us agile, dynamic, and responsive to the needs of the families we support. As our Fundraising Manager you will need to be able to communicate these values to current and future funders and develop strong long-term relationships with those who share our values – and push back on those who don’t.
We are looking for someone with a passion for writing and communicating with donors of different kinds. You will lead on all our fundraising, mainly from trusts and foundations but also developing new partnerships with corporate partners, with the support of our CEO and the full backing of our trustees. We don’t believe in fundraisers who sit in ivory towers and have no connection to the work being funded. You will be embedded in the project, building relationships with frontline colleagues as well as mums and minis, so that you can tell our story to the best of your ability as you build our donor and income base.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop fundraising plans to secure the income needed to deliver our work.
• Identify new fundraising opportunities across current donor groups and explore options to diversify our income streams.
• Research and write compelling grant proposals to foundations, local authorities, and other grant-making entities, and develop reports in line with funder requirements.

About the role:

Job Overview

The UK Programme Finance Manager is the finance business partner for the IRC UKs programming supporting refugee integration in the UK. The role provides high-quality support to the RAI UK programming team, leading on the financial processes related to the delivery of UK programmes, from contract reviews to preparing budget proposals, financial planning, budgeting, reforecasting, reporting, performance monitoring, financial risk management, invoicing/transfers processes and maintaining the integrity of our accounts and policies. The position works strategically with the Director of Programmes to ensure best use of resources, seeking out efficiencies and improvements and developing multiyear financial plans.  

Scope and Authority

The position is responsible for advising staff and grantees and working closely with the wider UK Finance team, UK programme teams and other RAI Finance staff in Europe. Key collaborations include, the Director of UK Programmes, Deputy Director of Finance RAI Europe, Financial Controller (UK). The position is required to manage and oversee project budgets. The position quality assures accuracy of donor budget and financial reports within respective portfolio and the submission of donor financial and narrative reports for a portfolio of grants and contracts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Budget Monitoring & Planning

• Coordinate with IRC HQ on updating/maintenance of operating budget and reforecasts.
• Preparation of budget guidelines to assist program managers in formulating budgets and spending plans
• Prepare project budgets to support the submission of timely, accurate and complete proposals to donors, ensuring that project budgets meet all donor guidelines
• Prepare scenario planning and mitigation measures to manage risk
• Provide country management and programme staff with monthly actual-to-budget expenditure reports (BvAs) and analysis for all grants, contracts and unrestricted funds, identify risks that may lead to overspending or underspending and address them in close cooperation with grant management and program teams
• Coordination with programme team to set up and implement work plans for production of finance reports per grant; prepare project financial reports (interim, annual, final)
• Prepare monthly management accounts and hold senior management meetings to review
• Compile quarterly country finance updates and budget forecasts to be submitted to Regional Finance Deputy Directorand UK Finance Controller
• Leads project finance activities and schedules to meet the internal financial reporting requirements and deadlines specified by HQ and RAI Unit

Grants and Contracts

•    Active participation in the preparation and execution of Grant Opening Meetings, Grant Review Meetings and Grant Closure Meetings for each grant to ensure adequate management of project finances
•    Review opportunities to highlight financial impacts, provide recommendations and advice
•    Participate in Go-no go decisions as a trusted advisor
•    Support on programme designs to ensure financial viability and that contract terms are met

Accounting

•  Maintain the integrity of IRC accounts, by carrying out timely reviews and processing correction and general journals, with the appropriate supporting documentation to ensure compliance with relevant donor guidelines and IRC polices are maintained eg. Indirect cost recovery
• Prepare salary allocations splits on a monthly basis, ensuring correspondence to timesheets and approved budgets
• Reviewing invoices, expenses, client reimbursements and credit cards prior to payment processing by the Accounts Payable team
• Preparation of invoices, posting into the accounting system and handling the aged debt
• Ensuresreconciliations (salaries, I&E, BS, Revenue) are completedon a timely basis
• Ensure all project expenditure adhere to IRC UK policies and processes and donor regulations
• Work closely with IRC UK finance teams to contribute to smooth monthly financial closings

 Donor Support and Compliance

•  Provide support for any donor audits that are undertaken
• Ensure all policies and procedures are in compliance with funding source policies; ensure all supporting documents are available and filed according to best practices (including but not limited to grant contracts and other documents, accounting books, reconciliations, invoices, transfers, contracts, time-sheets, procedures, accounting statements) including on internal grants management system and supervise that documents accurately support the data reported.
• Preparation and approval of all donor financial reports in respect to accounting, legal and contractual requirement
• Ensure donor reports agree with the underlying accounting records at all times.

Other

•  Provide capacity building support to Programme Managers
• Create and lead on trainings to non-finance colleagues on required processes

PERSON SPECIFICATION
