Job Title: Programme Lead (Walk Leadership)

*This role sits within a pay grade with a pay range of £32,395 to £48,593. The salary on appointment will be set at the lower end of the pay range, to a maximum of £35,635 depending on the candidate's skills and experience. This approach aims to ensure fair compensation for new hires while maintaining alignment with the structured pay scale for the role.

Context and purpose of role
Ramblers walk leadership programme increases the skills and confidence of people from diverse backgrounds to lead walks, enabling more people to benefit from group walks. As a member of the Programmes team, the Programme Lead (Walk Leadership) will be responsible for the successful development and delivery of the programme across GB.
Key responsibilities
- Lead on the design, development and operational delivery of the Walk Leadership programme across GB.
- Create operational delivery plans – to identify milestones, monitor risks, resolve issues and manage resource requirements.
- Design and develop resources and processes to support programme implementation.
- Be responsible for managing a budget in line with programme goals and objectives.
- Be responsible for evaluation and reporting, to ensure the programme meets KPIs and delivers measurable impact.
- Manage new and existing strategic partnerships with partner organisations and those working to reduce barriers to becoming active outdoors.
- Develop a network of walk leader volunteers – ensuring that appropriate systems, processes and support is in place.
- Work with partners to train and support walk leaders, and to promote the programme more widely.
- Engage diverse audiences from communities facing additional barriers to getting outdoors, to senior stakeholders including funders and other strategic external partners.
- Directly deliver some Walk Leadership events to support the continued development and co-production of the programme.
- Work closely with Nations Directors, Community Development Officers and the Fundraising team to secure the support required to sustain and grow the programme.
- Ensure robust risk management systems are in place to ensure the safety of participants.
- Ensure programme compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
- Review the programme annually to identify lessons learned or areas for development to drive continuous improvement.

- Work collaboratively as a member of the Programmes team, to share learning and develop innovative practice in programme design and development.
- Engage and proactively develop excellent working relationships across the organisation

The person
Knowledge and Experience
- Programme management experience – including responsibility for planning, budgeting, and monitoring and evaluation.
- Experience recruiting and managing partners, contractors and volunteers.
- Experience designing and delivering a training programme – working with participants to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
- Experience of successfully working with fundraising colleagues to secure funding to sustain and scale a programme.
- Knowledge of the outdoor recreation sector and potential barriers to participation.
- Experience managing relationships with strategic stakeholders.
- Walk Leader qualification (Lowland Leader Award or higher) or experience – especially in walking, group leadership and risk management.

- Enable close working and effective relationships with innovation colleagues to incorporate innovative practices and launch new programmes or programme strands.
- Build and maintain relationships with partners and key external stakeholders
Evaluation and learning
- In partnership with the Data, Evaluation and Learning Team:
- Maintain and sharpen a culture of strategic reflection, learning and evidence-based decisions across the programme portfolio.
- Guide teams, partners, and contractors in routinely and systematically distilling insights for programme operations and wider influencing.
- Make sure that our programme evaluation tools and processes are fit for purpose.
Portfolio Manager support
- Retain responsibility for execution of limited portfolio where necessary and support Programme Managers to pick up any delegated projects as required.
- Assure quality of project design, delivery and learning to meet standard of excellence.
- Empower idea generation and ensure alignment with strategic programme direction.
- Support Director of Programmes to oversee investment process, including being accountable for programme proposals being submitted for internal investment approval.
Communications and indirect influencing
- Work with Communications and Influencing colleagues to design and implement a programme of communications that achieve insights sharing and influencing objectives.
Corporate responsibility
- Support Director of Programmes in managing programme’s impact and spend performance.
- Support Director of Programmes in satisfying governance and accountability requirements (business unit meetings, business plan, risk register, reforecasts, etc.).
- In conjunction with the Director of Programmes, co-ordinate the programme’s contribution to the business planning process.
- Support the Director of Programmes in the delivery of programme OKRs.

We have received funding from The National Lottery Community Fund to deliver an exciting new programme, aiming to improve the experience and continuity of hospice care for young people with life-limiting conditions transitioning from children's to adult services.
You will provide clinical leadership of this UK-wide programme, empowering young people, hospices and system partners to overcome the inequities of care experienced by patients and families throughout this transition.
You will become a crucial part of the Programmes Directorate at Hospice UK. This team is responsible for areas of real relevance and importance to our hospices’ membership, including: commissioning support; data, research and evidence; clinical and non-clinical projects; learning platforms: sharing good practice; and a well-regarded and commercially successful portfolio of conferences, including our flagship national conference.
You will bring the clinical leadership needed to deliver this exciting new programme. You will lead our young person’s forum and provide invaluable mentorship to hospices. Supported throughout by our Senior Programme Manager and Team Administrator, you will further develop our Transition Community of Practice and help us collate and share programme data across the sector. You will lead on partnerships and strategic relationships, with Together for Short Lives and other decision-makers across our sector. When representing Hospice UK and our programme externally, you will offer clinical expertise leadership within the field of Transition.
You will have senior palliative care experience, working in the field of transition. You will have led clinical programmes across systems and/or regions, and experience supporting organisations with Quality Improvement projects. You will be an excellent and influential communicator, who embraces working with data while maintaining a strategic overview.

- Academic experience: knowledge and experience in curriculum and assignment design, marking/moderating, and delivering teaching.

Key details

We are looking for an experienced senior consultant to provide interim strategic support and continuity to our PQD team during a transitional period whilst we recruit for a permanent Head of PQD.

About Equal Power Equal Voice
The Equal Power Equal Voice (EPEV) programme provides mentoring, training and peer-networking opportunities to ethnic minority people, LGBTQ+ people, disabled people, women and people with any combination of these identities across Wales. This important and unique programme is delivered in a strong and established partnership with Disability Wales, Ethnic Youth Support Team (EYST), Stonewall Cymru and Women’s Equality Network (WEN) Wales.
The EPEV programme aims to ensure more diverse representation in politics and public life by strengthening the knowledge and skills of those who aspire to be there, while learning from and being supported by those who have achieved positions of power, influence and authority in the face of these challenges.
You will build on the success of the previous EPEV programme cycle, which ran between 2021-2024. They will bring enthusiasm and innovation to ensure the next EPEV programme cycle (2025-2028) is efficient and effective and provides the best possible experience to mentees and mentors, paving a direct route to seeing greater diversity in political and public life in Wales.
The EPEV programme is made possible through funding from the Welsh Government and The National Lottery.
This role is part of a collaborative effort, with Programme Co-ordinators being based at each of the partner organisations.
About the Role:
The Programme Co-ordinator will work alongside similar post-holders at Disability Wales, EYST and Stonewall Cymru, and will support WEN’s Programmes Manager to deliver in partnership the Equal Power Equal Voice programme. You will lead on recruiting and supporting the cohort of approximately 25 pairs of mentees and mentors from your organisation. You will support the Programmes Manager in delivering all events within the programme and will attend events online and in person across Wales, and approximately once a year in London.
With a proven track record of delivering projects, you will be dynamic, organised, a good communicator and able to connect people to help them achieve their goals. You will be extremely motivated, able to work on your own initiative and be ready to join a high-performing yet fun and supportive team who are all committed to equality.

Key Objectives of the Role are:
- Working with your cohort of mentees to enable them to access the learning programme, benefit from the peer–to–peer support group and from the relationship with their mentor.
- Supporting the Programmes Manager in delivery of a successful mentoring programme according to the project plan.
Main Tasks will include, but not be limited to:
Project Organisation and Delivery
- Supporting the Programmes Manager in setting up all systems and lead the recruitment of mentees and mentors from your organisation’s networks
- Matching the mentees to appropriate mentors
- Supporting the organisation of the training events and training sessions by sourcing appropriate speakers, organising online sessions and / or physical events
- Organising the peer-to-peer support group for your cohort of mentees
- Working with partners and the Programmes Manager to recruit, liaise with, and keep central register of all possible mentors and support those mentor for your organisation’s cohort
- Keeping records of all achievements of mentees as they progress, checking in with them regularly on their learning journey
- Giving support to Mentees, as needed, on a case by case basis

Partnership Liaison
- Liaising with the three other Project Co-ordinators and the Programmes Manager to ensure the programme is delivered effectively
- Networking widely across the public and third sectors to promote the programme and identify opportunities relevant to it
External communications
- Being an ambassador for the programme, speaking at events where appropriate
- Liaising with the WEN Communications and Engagement Officer to help publicise EPEV
General Responsibilities and Duties
- Conducting the duties of the job description in accordance with the operational policies of WEN Wales and of the EPEV programme, including but not limited to: the safeguarding policy, diversity policy, social media policy, data protection policies, home working and other policies.

The Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases (GACD) is a partnership of the world's biggest public research funding agencies. The Associate Members have come together to promote research collaboration and to fund research programmes to address the prevention or treatment of chronic non-communicable diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and mental health issues. GACD specifically focuses on research which will provide essential evidence on the most effective ways to prevent or manage disease in poorly resourced settings in low- and middle-income countries and to improve health equity in underserved indigenous populations.
Reporting to the CEO, the Programme Manager will be responsible for coordination of activities between the Associate Members and lead on the delivery of GACD joint research funding calls in global implementation science on non-communicable diseases.

Build Up is a charity that runs practical construction projects across London, supporting young people aged 10-23 years old to shape their local area. We’re looking for a Programme Manager to join us and lead the delivery of these projects.
The role
You’ll coordinate Build Up’s year-round programme of youth-led design and construction projects, managing two Construction Project Managers to deliver them. You’ll develop project ideas selected by our young people and support our team to set up strong working partnerships. Overseeing Build Up’s pipeline of new projects and working with our fundraisers and partners to bring them to fruition will be central to your role.

Summary
An exciting opportunity to use your excellent administrative skills to make a real difference, working with passionate inspiring people in the UK and internationally to bring about a more inclusive world. This role would enable you to get involved in designing and presenting new projects from livelihoods to mental health, from Nigeria to Nepal. No need for experience in international development, or even the charity sector; the main thing is to have experience in office / project administration, excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, and to be willing to learn and contribute.
Purpose
To provide administrative support to the CBM UK Programme Development Department, especially to its Programme Funding team; enabling efficient management of stakeholder relationships and submission of quality proposals to institutional donors. This support will contribute to the funding and effective delivery of disability-inclusive development and humanitarian programmes in Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs).
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Programme Funding, the majority of the Programme Officer’s time will be spent supporting the Programme Funding team, which is part of the Programme Development (PD) Department.
Programme Funding, Programme Finance and Programme Management work very closely together as the PD Department, covering the whole Project Cycle including design, contracting, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. As well as supporting Programme Funding (75-80% of the role), you will also support smooth running of other aspects of the PD Department (20-25%). To represent the latter, there is a ‘dotted line’ of reporting from the Programme Officer to both the Head of Programmes and the Director of Programme Impact. Full induction and internal training on all CBM UK-specific tasks, systems and processes will be provided.
Programme Funding Support (75-80%)
• Support scanning for suitable new funding opportunities, and create clear summaries of donor requirements.
• Keep the Programme Funding team, and each proposal development team1, highly organised, enabling efficient progress towards a submission deadline. This is likely to include:
o Real-time information management; clear filing, version control and communication
o Tracking progress against agreed actions; following up with reminders
o Using checklists to ensure all important steps are followed
o Facilitating adaptations to the proposal development plan
o Creating user-friendly templates and guidance
o Making arrangements for meetings
o Coordinating review processes.
• Provide practical administrative support to proposal development and stakeholder relationship-building, including:
o Online research about donor / geography / technical area / partners / competitors
o Formatting, proof-reading and/or editing to fit prescribed word / character limits
o Creation of tables, graphics, references from supplied data
o Checking compliance against donor requirements
o Arranging, recording and following up on meetings.
• Data management: Update and maintain Project Management System ‘Global Online’ with information relating to funding proposals, projects, donors and consortium partners (both current and prospective) – everything required prior to handover to Programme Management team for donor contract negotiations.
• Support efficiency and effectiveness of the Programme Funding Team through continual maintenance of and improvements to Programme Funding systems and processes, e.g. updating a proposal resource library.
• Manage provision of compliance information for due diligence processes and proposals as required by donors or consortium leads. Provide this service for other CBM UK teams as well as for the Programme Funding team, as required.
• Carry out other duties as required by the Head of Programme Funding, including support for internal reporting.
Programme Development (PD) Department support (20-25%)
• Make arrangements for events such as internal and external meetings (including recording actions / minutes, and providing for any accessibility requirements), training courses and team building, regular learning sessions, team travel (including bookings and expenses) and occasional international workshops (mostly online).
• Lead on knowledge management for Programme Development (PD) Department including updating PD Handbook and maintaining MS Teams site.
• Support the Director of Programme Impact and Head of Programmes with internal reporting processes; sourcing and collating information.
• Facilitate responses to enquiries about CBM programmes from the public or other teams, and facilitate communication with other CBM UK departments.
• Carry out other duties as required by the Director of Programme Impact, or Head of Programmes, including providing ‘surge support’ to Programme Managers. This could include:
o Practical support for adaptation to new or improved systems / processes
o Preparing materials for presentations or papers for meetings
