About Victoria Hall Harrow
The Victoria Hall Harrow charity started in 1888, with the aim of building a high quality venue for the people of Harrow to come together and to build community. Since then our venue Victoria Hall has been rebuilt twice, most recently reopening to the public in Summer 2021. We also created a new charity some years back (a CIO), transferring the assets of the old charity over. For this reason our Charity Commission listing below is not representative of our current financial position and our assets.
For around 140 years Victoria Hall has provided space for rent to local residents and groups. It has been used for every possible purpose - parties, events, activities, conferences and much more.
More recently the trustee board have embarked on a renewed strategy process, and we are now relaunching the charity as a partnership-first community centre, that identifies local needs and uses our assets to best meet those needs, working with a wide range of partners to serve the local diverse communities.
In June 2024 we agreed our new Vision and Mission. We are still now working through the overall draft of our strategy, which we will be happy to share with you as soon as it is ready in 1st draft form.

Role Summary
As our first CEO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Victoria Hall. You will be responsible for leading the organisation through this exciting transition, working closely with the Board of Trustees, staff, partners, and the wider community. This is a unique opportunity to build on our rich history and create a vibrant community hub that makes a real difference in people's lives.
The charity is in a solid financial position, which will enable us with the correct leadership in place to make real progress in our Vision and Mission. Our premises are new and extremely high quality, and very well located. There is a serious lack of high quality community space in Harrow, and we know already that there is significant demand and interest from a whole range of groups who serve the local diverse community.
You will lead us in identifying what the most important and pressing needs are in our local community, and how best to meet those using our resources. You will create effective and impactful partnerships with local residents, community groups and charities, plus businesses and the statutory sector, to meet the needs identified.
Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement Victoria Hall's strategic vision, ensuring alignment with our mission and values, with a strong focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the community centre, including financial management, fundraising, marketing, and facilities management.

Partnership Development: Build strong relationships with a diverse range of local organisations, businesses, and individuals to create a network of support for Victoria Hall's programs and services.

Financial management and governance: Ensuring that we have robust processes in place, and that our finances are well managed.

Staff Management: Provide leadership and support to the Centre Manager and other future staff, fostering a positive, collaborative, and diverse work environment.

Governance: Work closely with the Board of Trustees, ensuring that we are effective and develop together. Provide regular reports and updates on Victoria Hall's progress.
As VHH is a very small charity, you will be fully hands on in all possible areas of strategy, governance and operations. You will need to be comfortable across all areas for which you will be responsible.

In addition, you will carry your own small caseload and deputise for the Team Manager as needed.
You should be a qualified registered social worker, with at least 3 years’ child social care experience including adoption experience. Skilled at undertaking more complex assessments, your own standards of practice will be consistently high, and you will work with the child at the centre of all that you do. With excellent communication skills, you’ll be a confident networker, able to build successful working relationships within your own team, across the service and with external professionals.

About the role

About the team
It’s an exciting time to be joining Shelter. There’s a lot of change happening following the launch of our new brand, which has re-positioned the organisation and set the base for us to tackle what has grown from a housing crisis to a national emergency. We currently run a network of around 90 community charity shops across the UK - from small boutiques to large furniture shops. Our online offering has grown rapidly over the past two years, with significant turnover during the Christmas peak, success in the launch and promotion of new goods, plus the launch of our secondhand online shop – and we’re planning to expand further in the near future.
About the role
This is a great opportunity not only to see e-commerce in action, but to help deliver an e-commerce strategy, grow Shelter’s sales of second-hand goods and raise income to tackle the housing emergency. Medical Detection Dogs trains dogs to save lives.
We train specialist dogs to detect the odour of human disease, providing life-saving alert assistance dogs to people with complex health problems across the UK and collaborating with other researchers, NHS Trusts and Universities internationally to advance the early diagnosis of disease.
The Job
You will assist the Health & Welfare Coordinator in their role, providing support to socialisers and fosterers and dealing with queries including those relating to health & welfare and holiday cover, referring the queries to the appropriate member of staff where necessary.
The welfare of our dogs is of paramount importance and you will help ensure that dogs at the MDD Centre are at all times well cared for and that their health & welfare needs are met.

Specific Responsibilities
Health & Welfare needs
· Ensure MDD dogs are fed, watered, toileted and exercised as required while they are at the Centre.
· Weigh and groom MDD dogs as needed when they are at the Centre.
· Ensure all dog first aid kits are fully equipped
· Assist with the weekly health checks of all Bio Detection Dogs and ensure that vaccinations and any preventative medication are always up to date and administered as and when required.
· Ensure all Bio Detection Dogs have the appropriate equipment and are correctly tagged.
· To support when requested, the training of any new staff on Health & Welfare matters.
Bio Detection Dogs Supervision
· Assist with the organisation of the monthly schedule for each Bio Detection Dog.
· To meet the Fosterer’s and handover the Bio detection dogs when they arrive to collect at the end of the day.
· Assist with arrangements for holiday or other temporary cover when a fosterer is going away.
· Arrange day cover in emergency situations.
· Help coordinate the collection and return off dogs from fosterers, liaising with other staff as necessary and as and when required arrange volunteer drivers to collect or return dogs or when
· necessary collect or drop off dogs yourself.
· Organise the rota for dog walkers and keep them updated on any changes.
MDD Site Responsibilities
· Ensure all bedding on the MDD site is washed, clean and changed regularly.
· Ensure that the dog holding areas are regularly cleaned and well maintained, with support from the contract cleaning team.
· Ensure that the grooming room is regularly clean and well maintained.
· Ensure the veterinary room is kept clean and tidy, well equipped with relevant treatment & equipment.
Record Keeping
· Keep accurate records of Bio Detection Dog health, welfare, weight and any medications or treatments given.
· Ensure that all Bio Detection Dogs insurance and microchip details are correctly recorded.
Fosterer Queries
· When requested, act as the first point of contact for all fosterers, including out of normal working hours in emergencies.

Shooting Star Children’s Hospices are a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. We support families across Surrey and Southwest London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.

Retail and Volunteers Team: Our Retail and Volunteers Team manages our charity shops and volunteer programs, which play a crucial role in supporting our mission. They recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers to staff our shops and assist with various tasks, such as sorting donations and serving customers. Additionally, they oversee the operations of our retail outlets, ensuring that they are efficiently run to generate income for our hospices.
Part 1: Job Profile
a) Main purpose of job
In the absence of the manager or assistant managers to lead a team of volunteers to maximise sales, deliver excellent customer service and ensure that the shop premises and assets are maintained to a high standard, according to legal requirements and Shooting Star Children’s Hospices (SSCH) policies and procedures.
Decision Making Authority
The post holder will be required to make decisions on the quality, and suitability of donations before they are placed on sale. Depending on the length of the cover period they may be required to dress the windows. (They will follow price guidelines and existing display layout throughout the shop.)
The post holder will work with eCommerce Manager to decide if items would be suitable for selling at a higher price on eBay or through a promotional event and set these aside for the manager of the shop to deal with on their return.

Salary: £28,000 Full-time equivalent
Contract: 2.5 days per week, permanent, open to any form of flexible and
remote working (e.g., term-time only contract, job share, etc.).
Location: Remote, any UK location. You will be joining us for meetings in
London approximately once every two months (travel paid).

What we do
Leaders Plus is an award-winning social enterprise dedicated to supporting leaders with babies and young children to progress in their leadership careers. Our flagship intervention is a 9-month award-winning Fellowship Programme for working parents which leads to promotion and therefore gender equality at the top.
Our social enterprise is at a crucial stage of growth, having grown steeply over the past years and this role will be critical in helping us to scale further. You will join a small team consisting of our CEO & Founder, our Programme Officer and Programme Coordinator who deliver the programme, a Digital Marketing Officer and an Executive Assistant, and a team of 6 freelancers who deliver our programmes and yourself. We value making a difference, excelling at work and enjoying our time off – at the moment we all work part-time and at the moment we are all off on Fridays.
Key Responsibilities
Things you will lead on as Digital Marketing Executive include:
Website Management: Keep our website updated to attract inquiries from employers and parents who are committed to gender equality and want to join our Fellowship.
Social Media: Schedule content on LinkedIn, Twitter/X, and Instagram. Engage with our community and key contacts to spread our mission.
Content Repurposing: Support with writing and adjusting copy that resonates with our audience, focusing on their needs and our mission.
Email Marketing: Manage and update our email lists on Mailchimp and our CRM system, ensuring our message reaches those who care about gender equality.
Showcase impact: Support with conducting research and or recording case studies or testimonials.
Outreach and PR: Ask other organisations and senior leaders to support our work and share what we do.
Podcast administration: Help produce the podcast, including asset creation e.g. socials, liaising with guests but not editing the podcast.
Team Support: Assist with research and support our communications team in various tasks to further our mission.
This role reports into the Digital Marketing Coordinator.

You have experience in email marketing, social media content creation.
