The Fellowship was created by public subscription in 1965 as the living legacy of Sir Winston Churchill. The Landscape

As we approach our 60th anniversary we have been going through a period of strategic and organisational development, expanding our ambitions to create and demonstrate impact, not just for the Fellows themselves but also at a local community and UK-wide level. This will require a phased transition from the current model and we are in the process of defining and internalising this new approach within the organisation.

Following an in-depth strategic and operational review, the new Finance and Operations Director was appointed in July 2023 and was established as our first step in refreshing the staffing structure. We're looking for a dynamic and experienced individual to join her team, at this exciting moment and to be a key part of the team as we build on the successes of the last 6 decades and position ourselves for the future.

The Role

The People & Culture Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the human resources function, ensuring that the organisation attracts, develops, and retains high-quality staff. This role  supports the Finance & Operations Director in fostering a positive and inclusive working culture, whilst ensuring compliance with employment legislation and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy Development

• Support the development of TCF’s approach to effective methods of working and inclusive organisational culture, drawing upon best practice from across the sector and ensuring alignment with organisational values.

• Support the annual planning cycle, working with the Finance & Operations Director to develop and implement the annual and quarterly rhythm of team meetings, workshops and opportunities for team gatherings.

• Support the Finance & Operations Director through developing guidance for line managers to support the annual rhythm of 1:1 meetings and quarterly reviews supporting team members to meeting their operational objectives and personal development goals.

• Support the ongoing development of HR policies and processes, including the newly developed Staff Handbook, recruitment, staff onboarding, probation, annual reviews and professional development, as well as regularly reviewing staff benefits and ensuring they are in line with good practice.

Employee Relations and HR Management

• Maintain elements of the employee database (BambooHR), to support staff with administrative requests relating to annual leave calculations, signing documentation and updating personal information.

• Supporting the recruitment process by creating new roles on BambooHR, arranging the advertising on appropriate websites and working with line managers to initially triage and longlist applications.

• Develop onboarding processes to ensure new team members have the information they need to thrive in the organisation.

• Prepare offers of employment, change of terms letters and other standard employment documentation, with support from external HR Advisors, and the Finance & Operations Director.

• Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns, providing guidance on HR policies and procedures, with support from external HR Advisors, and the Finance & Operations Director.

• Manage the relationship with the appointed EAP (Employee Assistance Programme) including regularly reviewing the support available to ensure it offers the right level of support for team members in line with our values and aspirations as an good employer.

• Develop and build the process for employee objective-setting in BambooHR, and how this then links to the wider organisational strategy, ensuring line managers are equipped to utilize this tool effectively.

• Support the appointed Data Officer (Finance & Operations Director) by managing the organisation’s approach to GDPR and data protection with respect to HR specific processes, overseeing HR systems and records, ensuring data integrity and security.

Learning and Development

• Support the design of a learning and development plan for all teams, identifying potential training options for individuals and teams as needed, working with Directors to identify key learning needs and either develop learning offers to meet those needs or source relevant and high impact external training, for both hard and soft skills.

• Organise and facilitate workshops, seminars, and training sessions to support professional development of all staff.

Team Facilitation & Engagement

• Play a lead role in facilitating and organising team meetings and workshops.

• Proactively developing agendas in advance to ensure staff are kept informed.

• Develop and manage a monthly internal staff update, with contributions from the team.

• Develop and plan team lunches and group activities, with the support of the Operations Co-Ordinator

Line Management

• Overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Operations Co-ordinator, supporting in a line management capacity to encourage and develop organisational skills and personal development goals.

In addition to the responsibilities detailed above, the People & Culture Manager will also undertake any new and additional projects at the discretion of the Finance & Operations Director.

Qualifications

• Degree level or equivalent working experience
• HR Management skills training
• Accredited Coaching skills or equivalent training

• Proven experience as an HR Manager or similar role, preferably within the non-profit sector.
• Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices, preferable within the non-profit sector.

• Salary c. £42,000 – 46,000 per annum (pro-rata for 3 days per week / 22.5 hours)

We have embraced the benefits of working from home and at the same time, we value the contribution of face-to-face contact in building teamwork, collaborating with your colleagues, exchanging ideas and know-how, and for work efficiency. We therefore operate a hybrid working policy, where staff can work from home if they wish, however everyone is required to work in the office a minimum of 4 to 6 days a month with Tuesdays as the core day for regular whole team meetings.

We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Programme Coordinator to lead our programme for care leavers in Bolton. The programme funded by The Albert Gubay Foundation is in its second year of providing much needed support for care leavers to aide their transition to adulthood.

The activities provide individuals with opportunities to develop essential life skills, increase their wellbeing and create new support networks.

The programme will help individuals to build new friendships, develop aspirations and gain access to a supportive worker who they can approach for advice and guidance.

We are looking for a Programme Coordinator that can be a flexible and committed team player. In return you will have the chance to have creative ownership of this programme, bringing your own skills and ideas to make it an amazing experience for young people to be involved in.

In this role, you will need to be confident in inspiring and engaging care leavers and be able to develop positive partnerships with various stakeholders.

The main activities delivered through this programme include:

• Life skills workshops such as cooking, budgeting, travel training.
• Creative/outdoor activities such as music, cooking, drama, art, sport etc.
• One-to-one support to provide bespoke guidance so young people can overcome barriers to access education, employment and training opportunities.

A key part of the role will be promoting the programme to stakeholders and working to recruit young people. The successful candidate will integrate themselves within the Bolton Leaving Care Service to ensure we receive referrals for the programme.

Key responsibilities

• To develop effective relationship with care leavers.
• To deliver positive life skills, wellbeing and employability focussed activities enabling young people to develop key skills and experiences.
• To deliver one-to-one sessions with young people to support development and progression towards education, employment and training opportunities.

OVERVIEW

Rising Sun Domestic Violence and Abuse Service (Rising Sun) is an independent charity in Kent working to prevent domestic abuse and improve the lives of survivors and their children suffering from its effects. We have an ambitious vision for a world in which women and children live free from actual or threatened domestic abuse and all forms of violence.

Our team provide a range of services to adults and children who’ve experienced domestic abuse. We understand the impact of domestic abuse on survivors and so we listen to individual needs and respond in a trauma informed way. We provide one-to-one support and also deliver therapeutically informed group programmes to help survivors to recognise the potential signs and impact of domestic abuse. Bringing survivors together validates experiences and enables them to draw strength from one another.

We are looking for an organised and reliable individual with great problem solving and team working skills. As the Finance Manager you will play a crucial role in supporting the team to carry out their work. You will be responsible for preparation of bi-monthly management accounts and working with the Senior Leadership Team on annual budgeting and reporting processes, as well as overseeing the organisation’s day to day financial processes. The role also includes line management of our Finance Officer and HR and Admin Officer who carries out our HR functions with the support of an external HR consultant. 

In this role you will also have the opportunity to work with the board of trustees and CEO as a member of our Finance Sub-Committee, involving discussions and decisions about the charity’s reserves, investments, and organisational strategy relating to finance.

SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE

To ensure efficient and effective financial management across Rising Sun in line with our financial procedures and company and charity regulations.

To produce financial information for the CEO and board of trustees, such as budgets, income and expenditure reports, bank balances etc.

To support the fundraising team by providing financial information for funding applications and reports.

To line manage the Finance Officer and HR and Admin Officer.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Management

• Ensure all accounting is clear, well managed & compliant with SORP guidelines.
• Implement financial controls by maintaining and enforcing financial policies
• Prepare bi-monthly finance reports for the Board of Trustees.
• Monitor cash flows to ensure that the operations and liquidity of the organisation can be maintained.
• Liaise with the external auditors to produce the annual accounts.
• Co-ordinate and partake in quarterly Finance Sub-Committee Meetings.
• Monitor our investment portfolio and make changes following discussions in the Finance Sub-Committee Meetings.
• Work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team to prepare budgets and forecasts for services and the charity overall.
• Work with the fundraising team to ensure funding is received and allocated appropriately, and provide financial information for funding applications and reports.
• Ensure the Rising Sun has appropriate insurance for our size and activities.
• Act as the point of contact for HMRC, Charity Commission, Companies House and company pension scheme, including submission of gift aid claims, PAYE information and any statutory requests.
• Act as data protection lead and a signatory on bank accounts and countersign bank payments.
• Ensure monthly payroll is completed accurately and on time.
• Oversee development and decision making around improving organisational systems and processes, e.g. payroll processes, cloud, broadband, phones
• Oversee the day to day finance functions, including ensuring expenditure is recorded accurately and coded appropriately, month and year end reconciliations and journals are accurate and complete, and any due invoices and expenses are paid.

Line Management

• Line manage and provide cover for the Finance Officer and HR and Admin Officer, providing support, development and training opportunities and supervision to carry out their roles, summarised below.
• Finance Officer – Processing invoices, expenses, payments and gift aid. Preparing bank reconciliations and payroll. Monitoring the accounts and admin email inboxes and covering client referrals as required.
• HR and Admin Officer – HR policies and procedures, recruitment/onboarding, liaising with external HR consultants. IT requirements and systems. Office management. Monitoring the admin inbox and covering client referrals as required.

General Duties

• Maintain confidentiality on all appropriate matters.
• Adhere to the requirements of Rising Sun’s policies and procedures, including Data Protection and Safeguarding.
• Ensure continual awareness of developments in legislation and policy which are relevant to the role.
• Undertake any other tasks that are appropriate to the post and that reflect the needs of the organisation.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications

• Relevant finance qualification (eg. AAT) or equivalent experience.

Knowledge and Experience

• Knowledge and experience of charity accounts SORP, contracts and grants accounting (e.g. restricted/unrestricted) and accruals concept of accounting.
• Thorough knowledge of HMRC requirements with regard to tax, national insurance and statutory deductions and payments.
• Experience of working with external auditors to produce annual accounts.
• Experience of producing financial information and reports for trustees and/or the CEO.
• Knowledge of robust financial processes to reduce risks and ensure best practice in our financial management.
• Knowledge or experience of book keeping and maintaining accounting records.
• Working knowledge and experience of operation of Quickbooks (or similar software) for accounting.

About the role

Post Title: Team Leader

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, with regular evening and weekend shifts required. Shifts will be scheduled to ensure team cover from 7:30 am to 9:00 pm daily.

Responsible to: Programme Manager

Purpose of the post
● Support the Programme Manager to oversee effective and consistent delivery, performance, and quality assurance across the health settings, working with the Director of Services and other leaders to enhance and develop the offer. Including through involving young people in service design and development aligned to the Redthread Youth Participation Strategy.
● Lead Redthread teams delivering services, ensuring that Redthread’s models of intervention are delivered consistently and appropriately to all young people accessing the services.
● Build and maintain strong working relationships with a broad range of partners and agencies, including clinical teams, hospital staff, Redthread’s stakeholders, project partners, and voluntary and statutory agencies working with young people.
● Be part of the team at Redthread, contributing to the development of our programmes and assisting with other projects and activities as required.

This is a dynamic service, providing bespoke interventions to a small group of six to eight Looked After Children aged 16-21 years, to enable them to live in safety and stability, and have a place to call home.

The Specialist Support Worker will be responsible for delivering direct support to a small group of young people with complex needs. The young people will live in the community and the HFFY service will provide 24/7 support to ensure their safety, promote their stability, and build resilience to enable them to manage their tenancy.

Essential Criteria

• Experience of supporting Looked After Children or homeless and/or vulnerable adults to identify personal goals and meet person-centered targets while working through the process of change
• Experience of working within a fast moving and challenging working environment in the areas of mental health, care for young people, alcohol and drug use, independent living support
• Experience of using a high level or communication skills, both verbally and in writing, using Microsoft Office applications
• Full current driving licence or, if a disability prevents driving, an alternative means of transport to enable the duties of the post to be carried out in full.

Oasis are now in a position to employ an experienced Youth Development Worker to work alongside the children’s, youth and community hub team in Oldham. The role will be focussed on the Oldham South community (surrounding Oasis Academies Oldham and Limeside) working closely with the academies as part of Oasis Hub Oldham.

As a Youth Development Worker you will;

· Work as part of the community hub team to plan and deliver youth services that address the needs of the local neighborhood, including open access, holiday and community activities.

· Deliver targeted programmes of work for young people impacted by youth violence.

· Build positive and supportive relationships with young people to develop their skills, knowledge and aspirations.

· Strengthen and sustain working relationships with local partners to provide holistic, sustainable and bespoke support for young people.

· Support communities impacted by critical incidents.

Amongst other requirements, the successful post holder must have:

· Relevant experience OR qualification in Youth & Community (JNC), Social Work (QSW) or SEND.

· Proven experience working with young people ‘at risk’.

· Reliability, with a flexible approach to changes and able to work unsociable hours.

Job title: Service Manager - Night Shelters

About you

As the Service Manager for our night shelter service, you’ll be at the heart of Glass Door’s mission, delivering the largest network of night shelters in the UK.  This pivotal role offers you the chance to make a real difference by managing a dedicated team across multiple sites, ensuring high-quality, consistent service that supports our guests to build a route out of homelessness.  We’re looking for a dynamic, proactive leader with a passion for problem-solving and a compassionate service delivery.

What you will do as part of our team

The Service Manager is responsible for the following:

Service delivery 

· Lead all aspects of the planning, preparation, and delivery of the night shelter service. 

· Oversee the day-to-day operations of the service, directly engaging with staff and guests to ensure high-quality service delivery. 

· Ensure operational policies are consistently followed, providing guests with a reliable and uniform service experience. 

· Manage the rota across three night shelters to maintain adequate staffing at all times. 

· Manage a fleet of three vehicles used for the night shelters, ensuring their availability and maintenance. 

· Ensure all staff are fully aware of service provisions, requirements, and expectations. 

· Lead the continuous improvement of the shelter service to better meet guest needs. 

· Ensure due diligence is performed, and that reporting and records are accurately maintained. 

· Collaborate with the Head of Operations & Service Development to keep expenditures and income within agreed budget limits. 

· Liaise with casework colleagues to ensure seamless collaboration between night shelter and casework staff.

Management 

· Manage and supervise a seasonal staff team of approximately 40 individuals. 

· Oversee the full employee lifecycle management, including: recruitment, onboarding, training and performance management. 

· Lead the recruitment and training of seasonal shelter staff. 

· Provide high-quality support and line management to night shelter staff, delivering clear guidance, support, and effective leadership. 

· Ensure excellent performance management, support, and supervision of Night Shelter Managers and staff, including monitoring annual leave and addressing performance issues in line with Glass Door’s policies.

CPAG is looking for a welfare rights expert to manage our Early Warning System.

With a new government in place this is a great time to join the Advice and Rights Team at CPAG as we look to influence policy makers and parliamentarians and support the advice sector in delivering a fair and comprehensive social security system in the UK.

The Early Warning System (EWS) collates evidence of long-term concerns and developing issues within the benefit system, from the advice sector and beyond. EWS evidence is used to develop and promotes improvements to the benefits system with our colleagues in the Policy Team, as part of our work to end child poverty.

The EWS officer will actively promote the EWS, encouraging contributions from advisers and claimants. The EWS officer will record and analyse case studies as well as the issues which arise on our advice services, to provide insight on the impact of changes to the benefits system and evidence for our campaigning and research work.

You will play a key role in responding to calls for evidence and consultations, and liaison with the DWP and other policy makers. You will work closely with the advice sector through publications, briefings and events such as seminars and conferences, to increase advisers’ awareness of the concerns highlighted by the EWS and to promote solutions to support claimants.

Overview of the role

The postholder will be responsible for our events, community fundraising and corporate partnerships.

What you will do as part of our team

Strategic Planning

• Work with the Head of Fundraising & Major Donors and the other Fundraising Managers to refine and develop our established fundraising strategy to maximise income from events, community fundraising and corporate partnerships against an annual target.
• Develop our annual programme of events, including cultivation, stewardship and fundraising events, whether virtual or physical.

Events Management

• Overall responsibility for the design, planning and implementation of all Glass Door events, including our flagship fundraising event, the Sleep Out in the Square, and our annual supporter thank you event.
• Conduct an evaluation after each event, considering its successes, factors which could be improved and any recommendations moving forward.
• Oversee the Fundraising Officer as they support with the co-ordination and implementation of events.

Corporate Partnerships

Job Purpose:

Women in Prison’s Advocates deliver high-quality, trauma-informed, independent advocacy for women in communities and in prisons, which focuses on early intervention, and holistic provision as part of a ‘whole system’ multi-agency response that looks to address the root causes of women’s offending.

The primary purpose of this role is to provide in-depth, ongoing support to a caseload of women who have been referred for support by prison staff, predominately the Mental Health In-Reach Teams and Primary Care Teams.

Key Responsibility Areas:

1. Provide high-quality, trauma-responsive advocacy and support to women in contact with the criminal justice system.

2. Maintain case management systems to ensure accurate and timely data recording.

3. Develop effective relationships with key stakeholders such as statutory and voluntary sector agencies.

In this role you’ll be both strategic and hands-on, solely managing the financial controls for this small charity with a £350k annual turnover.  You will support the Director and senior management team through your management of financial processes, policy and planning.

This will include using accountancy software to process income and expenditure, producing management accounts for the senior management team and Board, and ensuring the charity reports to its key funders, including Arts Council England. 

You’ll process payroll for our small team of 6 employees, taking care of liaison with HMRC as well as handling external audit and company filing.

Rising Sun Domestic Violence and Abuse Service (Rising Sun) is an independent charity in Kent working to prevent domestic abuse and improve the lives of survivors and their children suffering from its effects. We have an ambitious vision for a world in which women and children live free from actual or threatened domestic abuse and all forms of violence.

Our team provide a range of services to adults and children who’ve experienced domestic abuse. We understand the impact of domestic abuse on survivors and so we listen to individual needs and respond in a trauma informed way. We provide one-to-one support and also deliver therapeutically informed group programmes to help survivors to recognise healthy/unhealthy behaviours in relationships and to understand the impact of domestic abuse. Bringing survivors together validates experiences and enables them to draw strength from one another.

As a Rising Sun Administrator you will be a key member of our frontline team working alongside specialist domestic abuse workers and providing essential support as a valued member of the team.

You will be involved in a range of tasks that contribute to the smooth running of our services, including processing incoming referrals and answering our main office phoneline, dealing with referral queries as well as supporting survivors to access support. You will also be involved in coordinating our group programmes for survivors, and our One Stop Shop drop ins.

In addition to day to day administrative tasks you will have the opportunity to attend training and learn about our domestic abuse services and the Rising Sun Framework which underpins everything we do.
