An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Shop Manager to join our Dorking Team. As a Shop Manager, you will be reporting to the Retail Operations Manager. Your role will be to be responsible and accountable for maximising shop profit by achieving budgeted income, controlling shop expenditure in line with budget and recruiting and retaining a motivated team of volunteers.
Knowing what it takes to maximise shop sales, you will possess a sound knowledge of technical terms and commercial arithmetic, and an excellent understanding of working within a customer focused environment. With experience of working in a complex environment, across a large and diverse workforce, you will be exceptionally organised with a high-level of attention to detail. You will naturally possess excellent inter-personal skills, and an ability to consult and positively engage with key stakeholders across the organisation.

Role Requirements
Income generation
To manage the Retail budget to achieve agreed targets:
• To maximise shop sales by achieving agreed targets both through donated stock and bought in/new goods. This involves proactive stock generation, optimum pricing, processing stock to agreed amounts and stock planning.
• Achieve Gift Aid sales conversion target through maximising new donor sign up and encouraging repeat donations.
• Achieve the shops Raffle sales targets through involving the shops team.
• To maintain high levels of shop presentation by merchandising and housekeeping to agreed standards as set out in the Shops Operations manual.
• Manage the stock levels of bought in/new goods, to include ordering of more stock as and when necessary and recording key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Assist in holding and attending Fundraising events to promote the awareness of The Children’s Trust.
• To source links with local communities to promote Retail in the community via media and other sources.
• Role involves a degree of manual handling in sorting and lifting of stock.
Administration and compliance
To ensure adherence to The Children’s Trust policies and procedures, in particular ensuring full compliance of the shops in line with all Health & Safety legislation, Trading Standards, Risk Assessments, Gift Aid, Raffle and all other legal or statutory requirements:
• To control shop expenditure through effective cost control of weekly expenses.
• To ensure minimum losses of both stock and cash by following bank and till procedures, and safeguarding the property of The Children’s Trust at all times.
• To adhere to all Policies and Procedures including those relating to the compliance with Health and Safety responsibilities, Gift Aid and Raffle.
• To be responsible for the daily management of Health and safety within the shops, completing daily checks and contributing to Risk Assessments.
• To complete all administration to meet the requirements, standard and deadlines for whom this work is produced.
• Embracing the change and development of new technology in the shop, for example The Loop (internal intranet) and Chariot (EPOS till system).
• Timely efficient responses to requests for information including voice and email messages.
• To fulfil any other agreed duties that may at times be reasonably required.
Personnel and Training
To ensure the Shops team are: recruited, retained and developed:
• Provides positive, visible and proactive leadership to the Assistant Manager and Shops Volunteer team.
• To manage all employees and volunteers within the Shop in accordance with the aims and values of The Children’s Trust.
• To be responsible for the daily management of the shop team, including contribution to performance reviews for any Assistant Shop Managers.
• To recruit, support and retain team of shop volunteers.
• Provide induction and training for both Assistant Shop Manager and volunteer team as and when necessary.
• Attend where appropriate, training courses relevant to the development of the role
• Promote awareness of relevant training courses and development opportunities to others within the team.
• Attendance at Retail Sales Meetings and responsible for cascading information to Shops team as appropriate.
• To assist the Retail Sales Manager in shop openings and closures.
• Undertake relief cover within The Trust’s shops as and when required.
• Carries out duties in accordance with Trust values.
Customer Service
To ensure customer care and quality of service:
• To provide excellent customer care through quality of service, dealing with complaints both efficiently and effectively, and having a good understanding of what The Children’s Trust does.
• Support other shops and fundraising colleagues as and when necessary.
• Adheres to all health and safety guidelines, including infection prevention and control.
• Provide evidence of a valid NHS Covid Pass or acceptable proof of Covid vaccination or medical exemption and all vaccinations (or medical exemption) required for the post.
• Adhere to manual handling procedures and complete mandatory manual handling training.
• Promotes the health and safety of others.
• Uses the incident reporting and risk assessment system (IRAR), to identify and report risks and incidents/actions if directed.
• Responsible for identifying and mitigating risk within the work environment.

We’re seeking an Events Administrator to join our ambitious Support, Research and Influencing team.
You will play a vital role in our team to ensure health professionals across the UK have a better awareness and understanding of pancreatic cancer and the complex supportive care needs of those affected. Some of the main responsibilities are:
- Ensuring our data is accurate, up to date and well maintained within our database, by collating, preparing, and cleaning up a high-volume of data from our events, online courses, and other engagement activities.
- Provide administration of our virtual educational events and online courses to support the success and smooth delivery, and to increase understanding and awareness of pancreatic cancer.
- Provide admin support to colleagues in Research, Influencing and Devolved Nations for in-person events focused on improving the standard of diagnosis, treatment, and care in pancreatic cancer.

This is an externally focussed, relationship management role, concentrating on securing and maintaining long term relationships with high-net-worth donors. The Programme Manager will play a key role in the development of APT Action on Poverty.
Reporting directly to the CEO, your key responsibilities will be: supporting contract delivery and financial management, developing/maintaining donor relationships, seeking new partnerships and project opportunities, proposal development and applications to institutions.
Experience of living and working in East or West Africa, a track record in proposal development and applications to institutions, knowledge of livelihood development and rights based approaches are key areas for this role.
This is a remote role, we meet up once a month in Evesham. We will also consider applicants who wish to work 80% FTE.

Role overview:
After two years of coalition-building with partners, we have developed a network of relationships with human rights activists and groups in El Salvador, Colombia, Brazil, Kenya, Indonesia, the Philippines and elsewhere. We are looking for a strong organiser and human rights advocate to continue building this network and help other groups organise to create impact.
We aim to facilitate civil society groups’ engagement with UN and regional human rights bodies, support grassroots-led research projects through small grants, and facilitate collaborations on shared advocacy projects.
This position reports to the Executive Director and supervises the work of the Eastern Africa Human Rights Assistant (EAHRA).
Person specification:
· Degree in law, human rights, public policy, international development or another relevant field.
· Fluency in spoken and written Spanish as well as English.
· A minimum of 4 years of experience in international human rights advocacy or relevant community organising, including at least some experience in building or leading coalitions.
· Experience in designing and implementing effective plans to achieve reforms.
· Familiarity with the social and political landscape of at least one country in Latin America.
· A record of drafting and publishing human rights analyses or advocacy documents.
· A strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace, and solid experience of work in multi-cultural environments.
Optional qualifications:
· Expertise in one or more of the following areas: counter-terrorism issues, climate justice, migrants’ rights, or technology and privacy.

About the Role
The Head of Unlawful Detentions is responsible for overseeing Reprieve’s work on unlawful detentions, which comprises detention cases in North East Syria (NES), advocacy work with families of detainees in NES, support to those repatriated from NES, and our Guantánamo and Life after Guantánamo Projects.
Background on Unlawful Detentions Work
Reprieve was one of the very first organisations allowed inside Guantánamo. Since then, we have secured freedom for more than 80 men illegally detained without charge or trial, and we continue to support some of these men through our Life After Guantánamo project.
Reprieve also advocates for the release and repatriation of foreign nationals detained in camps and prisons in NES. We aim to ensure that detained individuals are treated in line with international law, and not subjected to the death penalty, extrajudicial execution, arbitrary detention, torture, or rendition. We also advocate for and support clients and their children after their release from arbitrary detention.
Through our work we aim to challenge and change flawed ‘War on Terror’ narratives and legal and political frameworks – including in the UK, Europe and the US – that engender state-sanctioned discrimination and abuse, undermine the rule of law and human rights, and create two-tiered layers of citizenship rights for ethnic minorities in Western countries.
About You
You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies using a dynamic approach in which each of Reprieve’s methodologies—casework, investigation, litigation, political and public engagement, support for and (where possible and appropriate) advocacy with affected communities—connect with one another to achieve positive outcomes in individual client’s cases and address structural rights violations.
You will be enthusiastic about working for an organisation with Reprieve's mission and vision. You will have a minimum of five years’ experience line managing busy and diverse teams. You have significant legal and casework experience and experience managing a complex portfolio of cases. Salary, contract and location
The role is a full-time, permanent position with a salary of £59,226 per annum less any required deductions for tax and national insurance. Reprieve works across a number of jurisdictions; as such this is a role that may require work outside of core hours from time to time.

Growing Hope is a charity providing free therapy for children and young people with additional needs in partnership with local churches across the UK. We aim to grow hope for children, hope for families and hope in Jesus.
Growing Hope was founded in December 2017 and has a vision to see 20 clinics set up across the UK by 2030. The Director of Finance and Operations is at the heart of Severn Wye’s programmes to tackle climate change and fuel poverty. By ensuring the effective management of the charity’s finances and core services you will guarantee all our programmes grow and have real impact.
The Director of Finance & Operations is responsible for the good financial management and smooth operations of Severn Wye. In turn ensuring Severn Wye projects and programmes are as effective and efficient as they can be in tackling Climate Change and Fuel poverty through the energy system. Responsibilities include finance management, budgeting, forecasting, reporting to the board of trustees, producing annual accounts, liaison with auditors and acting in the role of Company Secretary. The role manages a staff team responsible for HR, Health and Safety, GDPR, office management and legal compliance.
The role reports directly to the CEO and is a member of the executive team, sharing collective responsibility to deliver Severn Wye’s work and plan for its future.
The successful candidate will have substantial management and financial experience, with relevant accountancy qualifications, preferably with a proven track record in the charity sector.

This role will include
- Organisational development and management:
- In partnership with the CEO, the executive team and Trustees, ensuring the development and implementation of the charity’s strategic plan.
- Being an active member of the charity’s leadership team and play a proactive role in the management of the charity.
- Being responsible for financial planning, budget setting and financial reporting.
- Ensuring operational support is effective, to review and develop organisational systems and ensure staff are well supported to be able to work effectively.
Finance:
- Developing and managing the charity’s financial processes, reviewing and developing policies, procedures and systems to ensure sound financial management and control.
- Being responsible for all financial reporting including preparing annual budget, quarterly reports for trustees, monthly management accounts and cashflow forecasting.
- Being responsible for all project fund reporting, income, budget planning, resources and staff planning.
- Preparing for and liaising re annual audit with the charity’s auditors, ensuring the preparation of the annual accounts for audit and ensure compliance with any audit recommendations.
- Overseeing effective financial record keeping and reporting, including to the Board and external stakeholders.
- Supporting the development team with bid writing including developing budgets and providing financial reports for bids or fundraising.
- Adhering to the Financial Regulations and to good financial practice.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Line management:
- Managing a team delivering day to day financial, HR, office management functions.
Operations:
- Overseeing all areas of the charities operational support including responsibility for:
- HR.
- H&S and Safeguarding.
- Office infrastructure,
- Policies & procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with employment, company and charity law.
- Ensuring Operational overhead expenditure is kept within budget.
Governance:
- Acting as Company Secretary, to attend Board meetings and providing secretariat support.
- Supporting the CEO and Trustees in all matters relating to the governance of the charity.
- Making the Annual Returns to Companies House and Charity Commission.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
We are looking for someone with
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant, ACA, CCAB or CIMA;
- Proven experience of organisational financial management;
- Proven ability to think strategically and lead on organisational improvement;
- Experience of managing the HR requirements of an organisation;
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, with an ability to communicate and translate complex financial matters to non-financial staff and stakeholders
Desirable skills and experience include
- Understanding of charity accounting, VAT, the charity SORP, the Charities Act, tax, payroll, National Insurance and pensions legislation
- Understanding of strategic risk management, finance audit and internal controls
- Sound knowledge of regulation and legislation affecting charities including H&S, Safeguarding, GDPR.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Trustees, colleagues and external advisors
- Proven experience of leading continuous improvement in relation to finance, HR, IT, & relevant areas
- Experience of managing and developing staff
- Ability to demonstrate a positive approach and to champion organisational change
- Highly self-motivated and able to work autonomously, take initiative and make recommendations to the management team
- Experience of using accounting software (we use Iplicit & Sage Payroll)
- Ability to implement and improve financial & HR management systems
- Excellent Excel skills in formulating and linking spreadsheets
