Fauna & Flora’s Scotland team is actively working to develop ways to offer further in-depth support to the community groups we work with to address the barriers that they identify and are looking to build our input in the terrestrial sphere, including taking part in conversations around rapidly developing nature finance mechanisms, and increasing our stakeholder network. This is an exciting stage for the team, as we further develop aspirations around land-based community conservation, as well as support the Coastal Communities Network (CCN) on their journey towards independence as a community-governed network.
This internship is a valuable learning opportunity for someone with an interest in community-led conservation in Scotland. You will work across the Scotland team, engaging with colleagues within the wider Eurasia regional programme and relevant cross-cutting teams, as well as locally-based partners and contacts. You will gain knowledge of the current conservation context in Scotland, increase your understanding of project development within small teams, build your networks and support the planning and running of workshops and events. More specifically, you will play a key supporting role in the development of our work in Scotland through: desk-based research on community-led conservation, updating stakeholder mapping, network research, supporting key meetings, and a review of Scotland’s national and international nature obligations. There is also the opportunity to support the organisation and delivery of the CCN annual gathering in October 2024 and planned community workshops later in the year, as well as to engage in national policy consultations.
Note that this internship has been designed to create a professional development opportunity for people who are new to the conservation sector. Therefore, applicants should have less than two years paid or unpaid experience in the conservation sector (not including academic work).

About The Role
Working closely with our Chief Executive Officer, the Operations and Systems Manager would take a birds-eye view of our organisation to help us build a consistent, collaborative and centralised approach to how we work. You would hold responsibility for developing and embedding operational strategies, processes, policies, and systems that meet our needs and help to support staff wellbeing. This role includes a key focus on improving how we can better use and manage our digital infrastructure to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of internal processes and to improve our ability to engage and retain external audiences, enabling us to build our impact on a national scale. Key areas of responsibility are as follows:
Day-to-day operational management of the Charity, including:
- Resolving daily operational and administrative issues efficiently and effectively.
- Taking initiative to enhance or develop, implement and embed effective systems and working practices, drawing from personal knowledge and experience and external examples of best practice.
- Developing and refining our approach to hybrid working, ensuring systems and processes enable connection and creativity across the organisation. This includes working closely with the HR and Finance Officer to ensure new and existing staff are appropriately trained and supported with ensuring a safe, comfortable and productive home working set-up.
- Taking responsibility for managing our office space and working environment, ensuring it is fit for the organisation’s needs. This includes everything from liaising with our landlord and tradespeople, ensuring compliance with the terms of our lease, maintaining required levels of tea, coffee, milk, stationery and other consumables, and making improvements to ensure a productive and effective working environment.
- Ensuring technology (computers, printers etc.) is fit for purpose, safe, enables robust data security, and is properly recorded on Music Masters’ asset register.
- Oversight of service level agreements, memberships and contracts with external suppliers and providers, regularly reviewing these to ensure that they are current, necessary, effective and delivering value for money, in collaboration with the wider team and with the CEO / Finance Director as appropriate. This includes but is not limited to insurance and utilities.
- Management of certain operational budgets, in collaboration with the CEO / Finance Director.
- Oversight and administration of the Music Masters’ contact email inbox, voicemail inbox, and physical post.
- The organisation of certain social events, and other team away days or Board strategic planning days.
- Ensuring organisational risk assessments and operational policies and processes are kept up to date and fit for purpose. The role-holder would have oversight of the policy review schedule, working with the CEO and appropriate team members to ensure policies are being regularly reviewed and that we are compliant with all relevant legal and regulatory developments including GDPR and Health and Safety.
- Building effective business continuity measures, including developing and embedding a formal business continuity plan across the organisation.
Digital:
- Overseeing day-to-day management of IT and communications infrastructure and usage, including ensuring IT and comms equipment, systems and processes are fit for purpose and enable strong connectivity internally and externally, liaising with IT and comms support agencies as appropriate.
- In year one, leading a full review of digital processes, tools / platforms and systems used across the organisation, facilitating and overseeing a digitally enabled environment for efficiency and sustainable growth in accordance with MM’s strategy. This involves consultancy across the team and with external users, creating a brief for specialist consultancy / support to help us find the right solution(s), working closely with the appointed consultant to implement the solution(s), and facilitating or providing initial training and support for the team during implementation.
- Providing or organising ongoing support and training beyond the digital review to ensure confidence across the team with using our new infrastructure to its full potential, helping us to work efficiently and effectively.
- Ensuring digital processes are in place to enable the organisation to easily engage, onboard and manage new partnerships and project opportunities, and oversee administration within these areas of work.
- Overseeing development of digital tools and resources such as I’M IN and the Virtual Learning Environment used by Musicians of Change participants and graduates to improve usability, accessibility and engagement.
- Oversight of policies and procedures that relate to IT and digital (e.g. Data Protection, Privacy, Cyber Security, IT)
- Keeping up to date with the latest practices and trends in technology that may benefit Music Masters.
Data protection
- Managing our data as the organisation’s Data Lead (currently titled Data Protection Officer), ensuring ongoing compliance with GDPR, focusing on appropriate, effective and safe data collection, usage and storage (online and offline), and helping to build the wider team’s confidence with and understanding around best practice in data protection.
Governance
- Supporting the CEO with general governance support including the organisation of quarterly Board meetings and Board development arrangements, meeting minuting where appropriate, updating Trustee information, and ensuring compliance with the Charity Commission, Companies House and any other regulatory bodies.
General
- Undertaking relevant training, ensuring ongoing development of knowledge via conferences, reading and networking.
- Being an advocate for and exemplifying Music Masters’ core values of excellence and inclusion.

Job Summary
We expect this role to focus on developing and maintaining relationships with key funders, stakeholders, institutions and individuals. It will undertake work to secure funding, resources and partnerships for both Shared Assets and the wider land justice movement, and to raise the profile and reputation of Shared Assets.
The role will have responsibility for securing core funding for Shared Assets from trusts, foundations and high net worth individuals, and for supporting colleagues to secure grant and commercial funding for consultancy, research, movement building and communications projects. It will have responsibility for reporting on core grants and providing quality control for colleagues for their bids, tenders and funder reports. As part of this work the role will play a key part in providing intelligence and foresight to contribute to the organisation’s strategy and business planning.
Beyond securing consistent core funding for Shared Assets the role will also work with funders and others to secure longer term resourcing of the wider land movement in order to deliver our collective ambitions for a just and sustainable land system.
As part of a self managing organisation all team members are expected to contribute to the day to day management of the organisation through participation in management circles, team days and working groups.
Main Responsibilities
Fundraising and resourcing

Develop and maintain relationships with funders to fund work that seeks to support common good land use and to create a more just and sustainable land system.

Work with the team to ensure we maintain a healthy pipeline of bids and tenders in order to meet income generation targets across the organisation.

As the Peer Mentor Coordinator (Young Women & Girls), this is an exciting time to join Advance while we embark on our journey to reach even more young women and girls aged 13-25 in need of support. You will project manage the mentoring service and recruit, support and develop Volunteer Mentors in their roles. Working as part of an innovative and newly-funded service, you will also work closely with the Maia Service Manager to capture and share feedback and learning from the project, using this to inform the ongoing development of Advance’s ways of working with YWG and disseminating findings widely across key partners and networks.
About You:
To be successful as the Peer Mentor Coordinator (Young Women & Girls) you will need the below experience and skills:
You will be able to project manage the Maia’s Service’s peer mentoring programme, liaising with keyworkers and partner agencies to successfully establish and run a peer mentoring programme across six boroughs.
You will be able to effectively engage and recruit women with lived experience to act as Volunteer Mentors for the YWG engaging with the Maia service.
You will be able to develop resources and deliver a training package to Volunteer Mentors, including sessions on key topics such as safeguarding, data protection and confidentiality, building relationships and maintaining boundaries, active listening and risk and crisis management, as well as specialist workshops focused on the challenges facing YWG, including violence, abuse and exploitation and contact with the criminal justice system.
You will have experience in developing and maintaining links with partner agencies (statutory and non-statutory, including children and young people’s and women and girls’ voluntary services) across the six boroughs, raising the profile of the Maia service and developing specific referral pathways for Volunteer Mentors and the YWG they support where appropriate.
You will be knowledgeable and have a strong understanding of the challenges facing vulnerable young women and girls, including the impacts of domestic abuse, exploitation, mental health and contact with the criminal justice system, and of the practical and emotional support needs specific to this group, including education, confidence and relationship-building.

The Criminal Justice IDVA will work within a dynamic, fast paced, crisis intervention, advocacy, and support service to ensure the voice of survivors informs every stage of the process, specialising in working with women whose domestic abuse cases are going through the police and criminal justice system and risk to children is a factor. You will work to make proactive contact and provide high quality advocacy and support based upon a client led needs and risk assessment to women, focusing on working with those aged 18 and over who access the domestic abuse service. This role is part advocacy, part training/education and project work to improve response and early intervention to victim/survivors experiencing domestic abuse. You will be embedded in the community safety unit within the police, working with police professionals to ensure they adopt a trauma informed approach, can recognise the dynamics of domestic abuse and are providing more holistic support. You will be the domestic abuse subject matter expert on site, upskilling fellow professionals and acting as a point of contact for any clients experiencing domestic abuse and support requirements from police and court at every stage. Attend the weekly specialist domestic violence court in Westminster as a domestic abuse agency representative to obtain court outcomes, support efficient case progression and seeking opportunity to increase survivor safety at every stage of the court process.
The IMPACT project was established over 10 years ago and has been working in partnership in Hammersmith and Fulham aiming to improve integrated working between criminal justice agencies from the point of reporting an incident to court and beyond; to reduce attrition through earlier intervention and improved outcomes for victims/survivors and their children; and to hold more perpetrators to account through the justice system. The IDVAs will inherit strong working relationships and a commitment from all parties to offering more trauma-informed services. The borough has a focus on prioritising and developing good DA work in and this is an opportunity to be a major player in institutional change, ensuring that women accessing Family Children services for their children have an improved experience and that the local authorities are leading the way for all survivors engaging with their services.
Advance delivers nationally accredited, quality marked services in Hammersmith & Fulham, Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea, Brent, Ealing, and across parts of East London. We work within a coordinated partnership response to domestic violence to provide independent domestic violence advocacy and support for women, children and young people and women’s community services for women who are involved in the criminal justice system, in anti-social behaviour or are at risk of breaking the law.
About You:
You will have an excellent understanding of domestic violence and its effects on women and children and of best practice within the domestic abuse in various areas of need, with particular knowledge on children safeguarding/legislation. As an experienced domestic violence advocate who has worked with complex and multiple needs, the post holder will be skilled in risk management and safety planning, remaining calm in a crisis and in handling sensitive information on a daily basis. Experience of direct work with female survivors of domestic violence, of supporting women with child safeguarding, needs, and of working within safeguarding procedures is essential for this post, as is the need to adopt and promote a strong partnership approach to service provision.

Role Summary
The Operations Executive will join a small but rapidly growing team working at GH50/50. The Trusts and Grants and Manager will take on the management and stewardship of a diverse portfolio of high-value funding relationships, while developing new partnerships with a range of givers. The role will also be responsible for managing and developing a Trusts and Foundations Officer to support team objectives.
You will be a strategic thinker, used to working with high value grant making professionals and trustees and with senior staff and stakeholders within your own organisation. You will have a strong track record in income generation and supporter stewardship and have excellent communication skills. Cross team collaboration is crucial to the role, and you will be able to demonstrate strong relationship building and influencing skills.
Main areas of responsibility
- Build relationships with portfolio of five and six figure trust supporters, understanding their motivations and tailoring opportunities and communications to cultivate strong, long-lasting partnerships.
- Foster a deep understanding of FareShare’s work and strategy to create persuasive fundraising proposals that inspire and solicit funds. This includes developing relationships across the organisation to build a sound understanding of FareShare operations and where support is most needed
- Champion and input in to the teams prospecting process, using your own research and sector knowledge to take new opportunities from identification through to solicitation, particularly focussing on those with multi-year and high value potential.
- Develop innovative and personalised stewardship plans, in collaboration with senior colleagues when appropriate, to deepen funder relationships. Craft compelling written communications including emails, proposals, and reports to showcase the impact of trust support and celebrate key milestones. Lead calls, meetings and visits to strengthen funder partnerships and engagement with our work.
- Provide supportive management to a Trust and Grants Officer, offering regular advice and guidance, identifying opportunities for development and monitoring performance objectives in line with the organisational and team strategy.
- Play an active role in developing and delivering the Trusts and Grants team strategy contributing to planning and management of team objectives, and supporting the Senior Manager to motivate the team and drive trust income.
- Work with colleagues across the Fundraising sub-teams to maximise cross over opportunities between income areas.
- Maintain accurate records of partner interactions in our CRM system and shared files, and consistently update financial records and account plans.

Person Specification
Experience
- Experience of securing and successfully managing five and six figure grants and multi-year gifts from a range of grant makers, including project funding and unrestricted funding.
- Experience in prospecting for new high value business opportunities via multiple research channels and soliciting new donors to make significant gifts.
- Experience in writing compelling funding applications and impact reporting.
- Experience in developing and presenting complex project and financial information to support compelling funding proposals.
- Experience of successful cross department working with senior colleagues to deliver on funding objectives and budget.
- Experience of line management or transferable skills to line management.
Skills, knowledge and abilities
- Strong up-to-date knowledge of the trust, grant and foundation landscape.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in writing proposals and presenting to or meeting with funders.
- Proven ability to form good working relationships, both internally and externally.
- Ability to assimilate strategic plans into compelling funding proposals.
- Excellent numeracy skills with the ability to work with complex budgets and present them to funders.
- Ability to work on own initiative, meeting objectives and managing competing priorities and tight deadlines under pressure.
- IT Literacy and ability to use a CRM.
