CPRE London is a leading environmental charity in the capital, an independent charity and the London regional branch (1 of 42) of the national CPRE organisation, ‘The Countryside Charity’.

Skills in leadership, communication, negotiation, and project management are needed to run our operations. In addition to leading CPRE London you will run our London-based urban projects with allies in the environmental sector.  You will also work closely with a supportive board of trustees. 

Currently at the exciting stage of developing the London Tree Ring project, additionally we are involved in many more initiatives such as Healthy Streets Scorecard and GoParks London.

Operational Leadership:

• Provide strategic leadership to the Senior Management Team's and it’s operational functions, ensuring efficient and high-quality service delivery.
• Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance productivity and ensure compliance.
• Continuously streamline processes and workflows to improve operational performance.
• Deputise for the CEO when required, representing the organisation at events, meetings, and in day-to-day operations.

Strategic Planning and Execution:

• Collaborate with the CEO and support, manage and develop the senior management to shape and execute the charity’s strategic plan.
• Translate strategic objectives into actionable initiatives, ensuring effective implementation and tracking progress.
• Identify opportunities for growth, cost optimisation, and improved service delivery.

Board of Trustees Liaison:

• Provide regular reports to the Board of Trustees on operational performance, strategic initiatives, and financial matters.
• Work closely with the CEO to ensure transparency, accountability, and alignment with the Board's expectations.
• Attend Board meetings and provide insights on operational challenges, opportunities, and key achievements.

Financial Management:

• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning, ensuring the efficient use of resources.
• Monitor financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and taking corrective actions as necessary.
• Drive cost-efficiency initiatives while maintaining a focus on quality and service outcomes.

People Management and Development:

• Line manage and develop the SMT (nine managers)
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Establish performance goals and metrics for staff, offering regular feedback and development support.
• Promote an inclusive, diverse work environment that values employee engagement and professional growth.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and retention strategies.

Risk Management and Compliance:

• Develop and implement strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, maintaining the highest ethical standards.
• Implement internal controls and governance practices to safeguard the charity’s reputation and assets.

We seek an Advice Coordinator and IAA supervisor IAA L2 (IAA L3 desirable), or solicitor with equivalent qualifications for an exciting position leading partnership projects with Shelter, London Youth Gateway, and the East London Foundation Trust Mental Health Services.  The post holder will manage and supervise a team of IAA level 1 and 2 immigration advisors providing specialist immigration advice and casework to migrants at risk in London. You will play a key role in coordinating service delivery, including advice drop-ins and outreach visits in mental health settings.

Additional Information

We ask all members of Age UK's Partnerships and Philanthropy department to work from our London office at least once a week to enable collaboration, skills development and team dynamics (currently Thursdays).

From time to time, we may also require the successful candidate to come into our London office for face-to-face meetings with funders and colleagues at other times in the week: as per the terms of our hybrid contracts we aim to give seven days' notice when this happens.

This is an exciting time to join the team where the role will be a part of a small, very busy and dedicated People, Capability and Culture (PCC) team focusing on the UK and Germany. The role will be the first point of contact with employees and third-party providers. They will provide advice and support on a number of people and culture systems, processes, IT and travel. They will undertake a variety of HR and Operations administration duties, in keeping with employment law, charity policies and procedures, to support the UK and Germany (DE) Team.   

This role with work closely with the Head of PCC & Operations to focus on: 

• The coordination of recruitment working with the UK and DE hiring managers. This includes job postings, advertisements, PCC prescreening, scheduling interviews and liaising with candidates. 

• Being responsible for managing the Diversity Monitoring process for all recruitment activities. 

• Onboarding and welcoming of new recruits; drafting contracts, setting up profiles on BambooHR, ensuring the process is completed in a timely and welcoming way.

• Liaise with hiring manager on the new persons induction, set up meetings and have an onboarding pack ready to send and be completed. Follow up on key documentation and policies have been read and signed. 

• HR operation projects and initiatives, induction, probation, sick leave, staff development, employee administration, policies and procedures, compliance monitoring and offboarding. 

• The maintenance of all HR operations electronic systems in the UK and Germany to ensure all information is updated and accurate, and staff understand how to use the system. 

• Take minutes of meetings as and when required, meeting the deadline in sending out the minutes.   

The role will also focus on office management of the UK Head Office, this includes office maintenance issues, Health & Safety Compliance matters and other relevant areas requiring support as required. Liaising with our IT support team on maintenance of laptops and setting them up for new staff. Be the point of contact for staff office resources, supplies and equipment requirements. 

Has excellent communication skills, including written and verbal to engage with employees and third-party providers. Is proficient in using HRIS software to manage employee data and produce reports. We are looking for someone to join the team who has the ability to identify issues and problem solve, be creative and can build and manage successful relationships with a variety of stakeholders. Previous charity sector experience and someone who can speak German (both verbal and written) is desirable.

Role Overview

The VAWG Service Manager is primarily responsible for leading the strategic development and delivery of The Angelou Centre’s (AC) holistic, trauma informed and culturally competent VAWG services for Black and minoritised women and children by:

• Leading, managing, developing, fundraising, monitoring and delivering the operational running of high-quality VAWG frontline services for Black and racially minoritised women and children across the Northumbria Combined Authority (NECA)
• Developing, reviewing and supporting the delivery of the Centre’s VAWG training to partners and agencies
• Ensuring that all service safeguarding measures are in place and that AC’s strong track record of institutional advocacy and prioritisation of women and children rights remains central to services
• Initiating, developing and maintaining effective relationships and formal partnerships with organisations within the VAWG sector locally regionally and nationally
• Overseeing representation at multi-agency partnerships and implementing and supporting the development of the strategic direction of VAWG services and VAWG Training offer
• Working closely with the Refuge team to ensure both residents and non-residents have access to golden standards VAWG services and are supported in a way that is consistent across the VAWG service.
• Responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the service, effective case management as well as managing a caseload of more complex cases

We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager to join us in the insights function of our Health Systems Engagement (HSE) team to lead work on health systems topics including a focus on primary care. We need your expertise in using a variety of techniques to generate and communicate insight about how health systems operate to deliver cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment. This will include maintaining up-to-date knowledge of issues relevant to primary care across the four UK nations such as workforce, finance, and policy changes drawing on direct engagement with health systems as well as familiarity with the published evidence base on key health systems topics. Whilst your focus will primarily be on health systems in England, you will also maintain a working knowledge of specified topics in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, as well as helping CRUK keep abreast of the evidence about 'what works' in health systems more generally.

Further to this, you'll be the relationship manager for a number of key health systems stakeholders within a designated region where you will be an external representative of CRUK.

We welcome applicants from a broad range of backgrounds. This role might particularly suit those with a background in health policy analysis or development, health systems research, or those who have knowledge of relevant topics drawn from experience working with or in health systems. Experience of primary care policy or working in primary care is desirable but not essential for the role.

What will I be doing?

• Using a variety of techniques to maintain accurate and up-to-date insight into health systems topics, including reviewing published evidence and grey literature

• Engaging with stakeholders at all levels of the health system in order to disseminate insight effectively, such as supporting communities of practice, speaking at events, or producing written outputs

• Building and maintaining productive internal relationships to optimise approaches and to employ a proportionate level of methodological rigour

• Working in close collaboration with other CRUK colleagues in the relevant nation(s) to ensure appropriate sharing of insight and co-ordinated engagement with external and internal stakeholders

• Ensuring that insights generated are shared within CRUK in such a way as to inform CRUK's priority setting, engagement activities and policy development through chairing our Primary Care Knowledge Group

• Working with the Head of Health Systems Engagement to ensure a well-developed contribution to the departmental-wide strategy and operating model

• Contributing to scoping activities to support the identification of priorities within the HSE strategy and development of new health systems products and programmes

• Maintaining an excellent level of knowledge about health systems policy and its application in practice, building on active relationships and engagement with clinicians and system leaders at all levels of the health system.

What skills are you looking for?

• Substantial experience working with published evidence and grey literature and using primary knowledge generation methodologies to develop insight

• Deep knowledge of one or more of the health systems in the UK, including an understanding of key stakeholder groups and of how cancer services/pathways are planned, funded and delivered in practice

• Specific knowledge of primary care policy and practice would be desirable

• Ability to rapidly appraise, assimilate and distil key messages from information from a range of sources

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly and appropriately for the audience

Job Description

DMI is looking to recruit a Research Officer/Manager, whereby candidates from any location where DMI has a permanent presence (London, Antananarivo, Kampala, Lilongwe, Lusaka, Maputo, Mwanza, and Ouagadougou) are invited to apply. The salary and title of this role is dependent experience, and DMI will consider outstanding Masters graduates through to post-doctoral level researchers. To succeed, you will need to demonstrate significant research experience and a highly proficient report writing abilities.

More specifically, the Research Officer/Manager role will include the following responsibilities: 

1. Designing and managing effective and scientifically robust evaluations (both quantitative and qualitative) for DMI projects.

2. Overseeing, advising, and supporting research teams in DMI’s national offices to conduct routine research activities (for example, focus groups to understand barriers to behaviour change) and other project specific research tasks.

3. Commissioning and managing external agencies (usually based in the country that we are working) to carry out surveys. This includes the competitive selection of an agency, often using a tendering process, liaising with the selected agency and ensuring that their work is of the highest scientific standards.

4. Contributing to writing and publishing reports based on data gathered and methodologies used during DMI projects. This will include articles for peer-reviewed academic journals and wider scientific publications.

5. Providing technical support to project design during the proposal phase, particularly in relation to the design of monitoring and evaluation elements.

6. Keeping abreast of the latest research evidence, theories, and concepts relevant to DMI’s campaign topics, and communicating trends and new ideas across the organisation.

7. Effectively communicating with, providing technical research support, and building the research capacity of colleagues (those with and without a research background) and sub-contractors in the areas of research methods, monitoring, process evaluation, and impact evaluation, analysis, and interpretation.

Person specification 

Required knowledge, skills and experience  

1. Very strong intellectual ability, as evidenced by a research-focused postgraduate qualification and significant research experience in epidemiology, public health, health economics, social sciences, statistics, biomedical sciences, or an equivalent field.  The salary range is broad to reflect that we will consider outstanding Masters graduates through to post-doctoral level researchers. 

2. Excellent writing skills (in English), likely proven both by a publication record, and by an ability to communicate complex technical ideas to non-specialist audiences, both internally and externally.

3. Practical experience with, and good working knowledge of, statistical analysis software programmes, such as Stata, SPSS, R, or SAS, and strong general IT skills including questionnaire design, database development, and working with complex spreadsheets.

4. An inquisitive and open-minded approach, evidenced by knowledge and understanding of a broad range of research topics and a willingness to learn about new themes, approaches, and techniques when required.

5. Self-motivated with a high capacity for work, shown by the ability to cope with multiple concurrent professional priorities and tight deadlines. This will require strong organisational and time management skills but also the flexibility to understand the pressures, uncertainties, and difficulties of working in an international development context.

6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Willingness and ability to take the initiative not only in identifying problems but also in suggesting and implementing solutions.

7. The ability to understand different cultural contexts, especially those in sub-Saharan Africa.

Desirable knowledge, skills and experience  

1. Language ability in French, Portuguese, or Swahili. Fluency in other languages spoken in DMI’s countries of operation is also desirable.

2. Practical experience of designing, monitoring, and evaluating programmes, preferably with some research experience in developing countries, and meeting the monitoring and evaluation requirements of global funders. Experience of data collection using PDAs/mobile phones/tablets would be useful.

3. Experience of working with geographically displaced colleagues (ideally in different countries).

About the role

We seek an experienced Business Development Manager to drive our UK growth and expand our client and partner base. Reporting directly to the CEO, (initially) you will lead our sales strategy targeting UK businesses, with a particular focus on small and medium businesses, and public sector organisations.

ShelterBox could not run without our incredible volunteer base. We have a network of over 200 volunteers who do everything from raising awareness of ShelterBox in the UK to delivering aid to multiple regions globally.

This role is about providing the vital infrastructure and strategic direction that ensures all our volunteers have a great experience with us and feel part of the ShelterBox family. It’s also about ensuring we are making the most of the amazing skills, networks, and experience that our volunteers bring to the table. 

This role will also directly manage our ShelterBox Response Team volunteers, a group of dedicated and highly skilled individuals who support our teams on deployments overseas. You will ensure they are supported and managed effectively and remain engaged with our mission and values.

The successful candidate will lead people across the organisation to ensure everyone who works with volunteers is fully supported and confident to do so. The role will challenge and stretch us to consider how to do better, offer more, and work differently to increase levels of involvement.

Who are we looking for?

ShelterBox is seeking a passionate volunteer manager with experience of working strategically and with multiple stakeholders. You will have the ability to bring out the best in people. You will be able to inspire others and bring about sustainable change in both short- and long-term objectives.

You will have a working knowledge and understanding of great volunteer management both in the UK and globally and be able to support managers and colleagues to manage their volunteers well.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

· Manage and support the volunteer ShelterBox Response Team (SRT) members

· Working with colleagues in the International Programmes and Learning & Development Teams, ensure SRT volunteers are ready to deploy when needed, including being up to date with training requirements

· Review, develop and implement the SRT strategy and ensure it supports engagement strategies and develop new approaches to maintain and build SRT communication and relationships - including but not limited to webinars, SRT working group.

· Work with the organisation to plan the recruitment, selection and retention of the volunteer workforce

· Giving leadership and strategic direction to ShelterBox volunteering across the organisation, with responsibility for ensuring good practice.

· Reviewing, developing, and implementing an organisation-wide volunteering strategy.

· Promoting and enabling a positive culture of engagement that values the work of ShelterBox volunteers working alongside staff and those volunteers that work with our teams overseas.
