PMRGCAuk is a small national charity dedicated to supporting people affected by polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) and giant cell arteritis (GCA). We have a big impact, supporting patients with the help of a proactive team of volunteers and working closely with leading rheumatologists and researchers to improve diagnosis and treatment of these conditions. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a passionate and dynamic Director to lead our organisation, working closely with our dedicated board, staff, and volunteers to drive growth, sustainability, and impact.

This is a key role to help shape the future of a health charity providing vital support to patients with two conditions that typically affect older people.

The Head of Region provides strategic and operational leadership in the region, ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the regional team and the successful development and delivery of the regional business plan and projects. Key relationships

Internally, the Head of Region works closely with the Director of Operations and other Heads of Region to support consistent operational delivery, and management and development of regional staff. Externally, the Head of Region is CCT’s regional representative, brokering joint working and engagement with statutory and Church of England stakeholders, funders, politicians at all levels, volunteers, communities and donors.

Working closely with the Executive Director, senior team members and trustees, we are looking for an Executive Assistant and Company Secretary who has knowledge and experience of working with senior management and trustees in the arts and/or charitable sector to support the effective governance and leadership of the organisation.

Contract and Hours

Key Responsibilities

• Act as Company Secretary for board and committee meetings - Organise meetings, planning up to a year in advance and working with trustees to ensure availability

Additional information

This role will be working 37.5 hours per week, offering a competitive salary of £80,000 - £85,000 per annum.

Based at St. Edmund House, Bishop Crispian Way, Portsmouth, PO1 3QA, with regular travel across the Diocese to parishes and diocesan meetings, including the Channel Islands which may require overnight stays. Please note, for this role a full driving licence and access to a vehicle will be required.

Purpose: This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a newly created post in the role of Partnerships Engagement Coordinator for Education and Employers on the internationally recognised Inspiring the Future programme. The Charity aims to ensure that all young people have the inspiration, motivation, knowledge, skills and opportunities they need to help them achieve their potential.

This key post is part of the Partnerships Team with responsibility for supporting the team to deliver various showcase virtual and face-to-face events and activities involving a diverse range of volunteers from the world of work. The role is rewarding and varied and will include supporting delivery of funded partnerships and general administrative support. 

Remuneration: £24-25k per annum

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Partnerships Manager and working closely with colleagues in the Partnerships Team, the Partnerships Engagement Coordinator is responsible for working closely with volunteers and school staff to support successful delivery of interactive activities aimed at schools and young people under key funded projects for the charity’s Inspiring the Future and Primary Futures programmes. These programmes leverage technology to raise the aspirations and broaden the horizons of children and young people by connecting them to a huge range of volunteers from the world of work via career related learning activities.

The Partnerships team are responsible for relationship management of the key corporate and charity partners for the charity’s Inspiring the Future and Primary Futures programmes. Partners cover a range of sectors and employment areas and our employer partnerships provide partners employees with the opportunity to engage with schools, and reach many children and young people across the UK, both virtually and in-person.

This role will be split between supporting organisation of activities related to our corporate partners and delivering activities to schools across parts of the country. There is opportunity to interface directly with children and young people from both secondary and primary schools. through facilitating virtual and in person interactive activities with volunteers.

This is a dynamic role for someone looking to gain a breadth of experience in the charity sector and keen to learn about the education sector and career-related learning, social mobility and volunteer engagement.  We are looking for someone passionate about motivating and inspiring children who relishes working with a range of stakeholders to create impactful activities.

We are recruiting for a Service Manager who is passionate about supporting survivors who are impacted by domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes. This is a multifaceted, fast paced, and exciting role where you will join our team in Derby to lead on the delivery and development of high-quality refuge and outreach services for survivors of domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes. 

The post holder will provide line management and high-quality support to the direct reports in line with Refuge’s policies and procedures. This will include providing supervision on complex and high-risk cases, overseeing operational emergencies, and ensuring high standards of casework. The Service Manager will lead on the delivery of the multiagency aspect of work, working jointly with the Refuge teams and wider stakeholders to deliver best services to the survivors. 

Candidates must have proven experience of providing direct emotional and practical support to vulnerable people, managing, and motivating staff, managing casework as well as working within multiagency setting.  In addition, you must have an excellent knowledge of domestic abuse and other gender-based violence and its impact on survivors.  You will have knowledge of relevant Criminal and Civil law legislation, as well as Housing and Health and Safety legislation.

As part of this role, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call rota. Please note that this is an on-site role.

About the Role

We are now recruiting for a Housing Advice and Case Worker to provide expert and specialist housing advice and support to our policy and case work teams, especially as it relates to Black and minoritised migrant women with housing needs affected by the criminal justice and/or immigration systems.

The post holder will divide their time equally between our Policy and Public Affairs team and frontline services work. As housing lead, they will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, producing and delivering training and other resources, and will work alongside the Policy and Public Affairs team to ensure the smooth running of our Safe Housing for Migrant Women project. The successful candidate will act as a source of specialist advice to our frontline staff regarding the housing rights and needs of our service users, and will provide urgent community casework support to women with housing needs referred internally from other Hibiscus Projects. The post holder will also support a caseload of a least five service users, providing holistic support and advocacy to empower women to rebuild their lives.

This will include supporting women to participate in education, training, providing outreach support, ensuring the women they work with have a clear understanding of their rights and obligations and how their immigration status may affect their rights to housing and work.

The Housing Advice and Case Worker will play a key role in facilitating communication between the Policy and Public Affairs and frontline teams, maintaining accurate records to support with monitoring, reporting and evaluation of Hibiscus’ Projects. In particular, they will support the collection of data, case studies and qualitative feedback to inform the Safe Homes for Migrant Women project and evaluation.

They will demonstrate a commitment to Hibiscus's ethos aims and objectives, including having an intersectional and anti-racist approach to the work and a comprehensive understanding of one of more of Hibiscus’ key work areas.

About you

We are looking for someone who is motivated and passionate about the housing rights of Black and minoritised migrant women. Key Responsibilities

Oversight of Spear Programme

• Lead group sessions of around 10 young people each, using coaching skills to transform attitudes to their own ability and the workplace, and to raise their awareness and maximise potential in stepping into the world of work.​
• Prepare and coach group and 1-1 sessions with the Spear Coach.​
• Ensure the programme is delivered in line with agreed targets, and report KPIs on recruitment, retention and completion of Spear Trainees to Resurgo and the Spear Trust, as well as their ongoing progress and sustainment of work or education.

Partnership liaison and relationship management

• Establish the primary local referral agencies and build and implement a strategy for developing relationships with them to ensure recruitment of young people onto the Spear programme is effective. ​

Line Management and training

• Manage the Spear Coach, using a coaching approach to invest in their growth and development.
• Be line managed by Resurgo to support with the set-up and ongoing operations of the centre and report back on KPIs.

Church Community

• The Spear Centre Manager is directly employed by The Mount, meaning you are part of a vibrant church staff team and submerged in an exciting faith community.
• You will be required to establish strong relationships with key people at the church to ensure the engagement and backing of church members, and help to establish a strong presence at the church to build a network of supporters for the Spear programme.
• Ensure the Spear programme is a key missional feature of the work of the church; this may involve attending church events and speaking at services.

Site management and set-up

• Work with the Church to set up the training room and IT infrastructure for the new Spear Centre in advance of opening.​

The membership of the Royal Statistical Society (RSS) constitutes a preeminent source of statistical expertise. Members work with RSS staff to support our work across areas such as policy development, education, training, statistical communication, and statistical literacy. Communicating what we do is important to ensure that our work has impact, and that our members are informed. 

Job Purpose:

The main purpose of this role is to lead and coordinate communications activities across the Society’s policy and external affairs activities, ensuring that our work is communicated strategically and visible to appropriate audiences.

Key responsibilities:

Understanding opportunities and the changing external environment  

• Develop our understanding of the preferences and needs of our key internal and external audiences to better align our policy and external affairs communications to those preferences and needs. 
• Monitor and respond to emerging trends to ensure our communications channels and content for policy and external affairs remain timely and relevant.
• Build a network of key contacts across critical and adjacent organisations to maximise potential routes into influencing decision-making and make the best use of resources through collaborative working. 

Development of strategies and plans

• Lead on strategic communication of the Society’s campaign priorities
• Contribute to the development of the Society’s communications strategy across media, social media and communications planning.
• Work closely with colleagues across the organisation to maximise the communications value of the Society’s key policy and external affairs outputs and activities.
• Contribute to costed plans for communications campaigns that meet key strategic goals and include monitoring for impact.

Media relations

• Lead on the Society’s media relations work – proactively identify and exploit appropriate media opportunities to promote campaign priorities, drafting media statements and managing launches and announcements.
• Develop and maintain relationships with journalists across our key topic areas and respond to press queries. 
• Expertly advise, assist and brief the Society’s key spokespeople in respect of media relations issues and opportunities. 
• Manage, and develop the Society’s statistical ambassador scheme, supporting individuals and ensuring we have a pipeline of spokespeople that reflects the diversity of the data professions.

Content creation and editorial

• Develop communications content including blogs, press statements, posts and thought pieces to communicate our campaigns and policy work. 
• Contribute to the operation of the Society’s social media accounts, working with wider staff to ensure we are reflecting the breadth of the Society’s activities across the various platforms.
• Produce write-ups of events and roundtables.

External affairs

• Work with the CEO and Head of Policy and Advocacy to identify and develop relationships with external stakeholders, both UK-based and international and across government, civil society, academia and business, acting as a convenor, trusted advisor and critical friend. 
• Lead on the Society’s statistical excellence awards programme, including developing and maintaining relationships with awards sponsors to ensure the awards are both impactful and financially sustainable.
• Lead on the planning and delivery of policy focused events 
• Support the publication, launch and dissemination of relevant outputs across the policy team, and work with colleagues to ensure relevant and timely and communication of policy positions to support policy and advocacy objectives. 
• Maintain a database of relevant stakeholders.

Management

• Monitor and report on progress and performance against targets. 
• Project manage campaigns, external affairs and communications activities, ensuring that work is appropriate, of high quality, and sufficient volume to maintain presence and reputation. 
• Manage the budget for the communications function.

Interfaces with other teams and groups 

• Contribute to a cross-RSS communications group to share comms plans and outputs and identify opportunities for synergy and collaboration. 
• Provide support to key Society groups, for example the Campaigns Advisory Group. 
• Work with staff responsible for business development to pursue sponsorship opportunities where appropriate. 
• Engage with teams across the organisation to identify comms opportunities to advance our campaign priorities.

Person Specification

• Significant relevant experience in media relations and external affairs 
• Excellent written / oral communication skills, including writing, editing, sub-editing and proofreading 
• Excellent organisation, project and budget management skills
• Ability to work effectively, managing multiple projects and deadlines and reprioritising and achieving results in a changing environment.
• Ability to work on own initiative, escalating issues where appropriate. 
• Experience organising events in a policy context 
• Strong interpersonal skills: ability to persuade, inspire, influence, achieve results through others. 
• Collaborative team worker: proven ability to work efficiently and effectively with colleagues, committees, volunteers, and people with a wide range of perspectives, and to foster consensus. 
• Ability to establish and develop an extensive network of external contacts in the industry.
• Work closely with members of the Society who provide expert support on a voluntary basis including the President and Vice-President for External Affairs.

Desirable

• Interest in or experience of statistics, research, or other aspects of the Society’s work 
• Familiarity with developments within data science, statistics, machine learning, AI and related subject areas. 
• Experience working with volunteers. 
• Scientific background or experience. 

Working for the RSS

Pension and benefits

Our defined contribution pension scheme can be joined after three months in post. Your contributions of up to 8% of salary will be double matched by the Society (making a maximum contribution by the Society of 16%). A training budget, season ticket loan, cycle to work scheme and employee assistance programme are also available. 

Location

The RSS office is in central London. We offer flexible working arrangements, and this is a hybrid role with a minimum two days a week working in the office. In person attendance for certain meeting is required, including all-staff / team meetings and governance / committee meetings that take place in person. Limited travel within the UK and internationally may be required.

Working hours

35 per week full-time. Applications for job shares, part-time and flexible working will also be considered. The post-holder will be the point of contact for any out-of-office hours press queries. 

Holidays

25 days per annum, plus bank holidays and an additional shut down between Christmas and New Year. 

Probation

This post is subject to a six-month probation period.

The role

As Employment Solicitor, you’ll provide excellent employment legal advice, and support the Head of Employment in supervising our two senior legal advisers. You’ll also use your expertise to create accessible public-facing legal information, deliver training to other advisers, and collaborate with colleagues in the policy team. This is a real opportunity to support vulnerable workers' individual and group claims, while contributing to systemic change.

About you

We seek a colleague who shares our mission to end in-work poverty by helping vulnerable workers find justice, and who has: 

• Three years PQE in the UK in employment law;

• Experience of working in a legal team, supervising and delegating work;

• Excellent case management skills, demonstrating an ability to quickly gather case facts, draft good case summaries, plan actions accordingly;

• Excellent client management skills, including courtesy, professionalism, an ability to set realistic expectations and keep the client informed of case progress;

• Knowledge of, and empathy with, the backgrounds and experiences of migrants and other vulnerable workers.
