World Cancer Research Fund explores how diet, weight and physical activity affect your risk of developing cancer. As an international network of charities, we’ve been funding life-saving research, influencing global healthcare policy, and educating the public on how to make informed choices since 1982. While society continues to search for a cure, our prevention and survival work is helping people to live longer, happier, and healthier lives – free from the devastating effects of cancer.

We now have an exciting opening for a Head of Media, PR & Editorial. The postholder will be responsible for developing and supporting key campaigns and strategies that help to promote and explain the work, impact, health messaging and funding needs to diverse audiences. You will achieve these through PR and media relations, awareness-raising campaign development, supporter stories, celebrity/ambassador management, and the management of a small team, including staff and specialist consultant support.

We are seeking an experienced communications professional with demonstrable expertise and a track-record of success in managing communications for a charity, health or science-related organisation, including developing successful media strategies, with positive press coverage, and writing clear, engaging copy for different audiences across digital and social media channels. The successful candidate will also have proven experience planning and managing multiple cross-departmental projects.

This is an income generating role with sales targets for BeyondAutism’s Outreach Services – BeyondAutism Fast Responder®, Outreach and Training. You’ll also: 

• Bring to the role a keen understanding of supporter response handling, the intricacies of processing donations, Direct Debits, Gift Aid, and communication preferences
• Assist with due diligence processes within the wider SEO team, specifically focusing on internal data security practices, response handling accuracy, and adherence to relevant regulatory requirements such as those for Gift Aid or the BACS scheme for Direct Debits 
• Proactively identify processes for improvement across the Supporter Experience & Operations Team to deliver efficiencies and improve the effectiveness of internal procedures 

• Support campaign managers and other colleagues with any new or existing projects relating to fundraising operations, working closely with internal stakeholders, ensuring requirements are clear and fully documented

• Experience of income processing and donor response handling
• Excellent IT skills (use of Microsoft products, particularly Excel) with ability to analyse data accurately

• Experience of supporting with or delivering impactful media campaigns or stories that have helped secure quality coverage in national and regional news outlets, as well as softer consumer features.

• Excellent writing skills, with the ability to craft engaging copy for a range of audiences, including political, consumer, tabloid, trade and everything in between. 

• Experience of working with case studies, identifying and preparing stories for the media and empowering people to share their experiences.

ABOUT GLAN

The Global Legal Action Network (GLAN) works with affected communities to pursue innovative legal actions across borders to challenge states and other powerful actors involved in human rights violations and systemic injustice. Our actions address the most pressing instances of human rights concern and they fall within the following themes: War and occupation; accountability and supply chains; environmental and economic justice; and migration and border violence.

Since our establishment in 2016, we have developed legal strategies directly addressing human rights impacts in over 23 countries and territories. Our cases include the successful legal challenge against imports of cotton produced with forced labour in Xinjiang (East Turkistan) into the UK on behalf of World Uyghur Congress and the climate case against 32 European States before the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights, brought on behalf of six Portuguese youth-applicants.

More recently, we have supported the preeminent Palestinian human rights organisation Al Haq, to rapidly challenge UK weapons exports to Israel due to the risk of these arms being used in violations of international law. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Head of Strategic Communications at GLAN, you will spearhead the development and execution of a comprehensive communications strategy that amplifies GLAN's mission and impact on a global scale.

You will lead the strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of all communications efforts to enhance the organisation's brand, increase public awareness, and support advocacy and fundraising initiatives.

This is an exciting time to join GLAN. We are seeking a Head of Strategic Communications to build an ambitious communications strategy focused on some of the biggest human rights and climate change issues of our time. At this point in time, the team is small with some budget to work with external freelancers, consultants or agencies. Communications Strategy

• Align cross-media communication strategies with thematic goals to maximise success across all initiatives. Develop campaign & advocacy communications which will influence change.

Health Poverty Action (HPA) acts in solidarity with poor and marginalised communities in their struggle for health and social justice, recognising these injustices are often rooted in colonialism and imperialism (both historical and ongoing) and have strong racial and gender dimensions.

This role spearheads the development and execution of a strategic plan to dismantle systemic racism within the housing systems, ultimately leading to greater housing equity for Black and Global Majority (BGM) communities.

The position will encompass a multifaceted approach, focusing on Policy & Advocacy, Community Collaboration & Empowerment, and Service Delivery Innovation.

The aim of ROTA’s housing project, funded by the Oak Foundation, is to examine the racial inequities that continue to plague the housing sector. Using a community-based peer research approach, we will put the lived experiences of Black and Global Majority communities who have been affected by insecure housing at the heart of this research, amplifying their voices through dedicated campaigning and advocacy.

We ultimately hope that the findings from this research can be used to formulate meaningful policy and influence practice to help end discriminatory practices in the housing sector.

We are looking for an experienced media officer to help grow the influence of our small but effective press office. With a new government in power, this is a critical time for our countryside and an exciting time to join CPRE, the countryside charity. As media officer, you’ll help to deliver high-profile coverage of CPRE’s work as part of an impactful and expanding team.

You’ll work closely with our media manager and other colleagues across our Policy and Advocacy teams to help communicate CPRE’s key policy lines to the public via print and broadcast media. You’ll also be working with CPRE’s network of local groups to help shape their media relations activities.

Your day-to-day work might include:

• Supporting and leading on conversations with journalists to help generate coverage of CPRE’s work
• Writing press releases and media briefings for internal and external audiences

We are looking for a Graphic Designer (maternity cover).

We’re looking for a mid-weight Graphic Designer to work in-house to create artwork for marketing and communications campaigns across a wide range of media, including print, digital, animation, and video. Working under the direction of the Senior Graphic Designer and within the Communications and Engagement team, the Graphic Designer will work across a range of different projects supporting the priorities of the charity.

This is a 6 months’ full time maternity cover role. This role is also a hybrid working role, where 40% of the role will be on campus based.
