Contract: Permanent
Location: London (with hybrid working options)
More than one in four children is growing up in poverty in the UK. It doesn’t have to be this way. If you have a track record in trusts fundraising and believe in tackling social and economic injustice, then you could play an important role in helping Child Poverty Action Group deliver on its mission.

You will have outstanding communication skills, a highly organised approach to work, strong self-motivation and enjoy working in a small team.

If you don’t meet all the criteria in the person specification and want to play a role in helping to tackle UK child poverty, please consider applying.
We operate a hybrid working system and would be happy to discuss any flexibilities required. CPAG is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion which you can read more about in the job pack.

You have a QCF in Advice & Guidance (Level 3) or equivalent, plus a proven ability to work to policies and procedures, including confidentiality, safeguarding, lone working, information governance, and health and safety. You’d also like to be part of an organisation that counts on the professionalism, insight, expertise and passion of its staff to inspire individual recovery for the people they work with. Welcome to Waythrough as a WorkWell Coach.
WorkWell is an exciting new government/DWP initiative to get people back to work. As well as providing work placement support, it will also address and support any physical or mental health needs via a Mental Health Provider and Physical Health Advisor who form part of the team. The pilot in Surrey will be going live in December and aims to empower people to take control of their health, wellbeing and any impacts this is having on their employment via referral to a WorkWell Coach. That’s where you come in.
Working as a key part of the primary care network (PCN) and other community hubs, your challenge will be to provide a supportive environment that enables each individual to identify their health and wellbeing concerns and the impact these are having on their employment. That will involve taking a strengths-based approach, focusing on ‘what matters to me’ and, together with the individual, producing a personalised and holistic support plan that aims to help the individual thrive at work. We’ll also rely on you to work alongside a multi-disciplinary team of physical activity, mental health and skills and employment advisors to provide direct interventions and connect individuals to diverse community-based support, thus ensuring they are able to maintain their health, wellbeing and employment in the longer term.
To succeed, you’ll need a good understanding of motivational coaching and interview skills, the ability to organise, plan and prioritise and a real commitment to develop. Familiar with office IT systems, you have good word processing skills and know how to use emails and the internet to create simple plans and reports. Just as important is a proactive and flexible approach plus the ability to listen to, and empathise with, people from all backgrounds and provide person centred support in a non-judgemental way. Put simply, you’re committed to reducing health inequalities and able to support people in a way that inspires trust and confidence, thus motivating others to reach their potential.
In return for your skills and enthusiasm, this role comes with some really great benefits and excellent training and development opportunities.
Due to the nature of the role, a driver and access to a car are essential.
This is a permanent full-time role requiring the post holder to work 37.5 hours per week.
We are committed to increasing our diversity and we would welcome applications from those with lived experience.
This is a rolling recruitment process. Candidates will be interviewed as and when they are shortlisted.
To apply please submit a CV and supporting statement which should clearly outline your skills and experience.

We provide a specialist 1:1 service for young women and girls aged 11-25 living, studying or based in close proximity to Barnet and neighbouring boroughs.
Our long term, 18 months support, programme engages young women and girls with direct experiences of relationship abuse, sexual violence, intra-familial abuse, exploitation, and/or where there are significant risk indicators present in the young persons life that may increase their exposure to harm.
Young women and girls are referred through professional, self and peer or familial pathways and will be engaged in weekly or fortnightly support. The service is offered from a space safe for them, including our community spaces, at their home or within their educational setting.
How our service is different from traditional IDVA models:
-
We offer long term support for up to 18 months, enabling you to build trusted and safe relationships that exceed immediate, crisis intervention and also focus on implementing a support package for continued development once a survivor has achieved immediate safety
-
We keep our caseloads low and manageable, supporting no more than 10 young women and girls at any one time. This has been proven to reduce stress and burn out, whilst increasing your capacity to create a targeted and needs-based response for each young person
-
Our interventions are holistic and flexible, ranging from trips and outings, to visits in school, at home or a safe local community space. This approach enables you to have more freedom over how the intervention is shaped and delivered, reducing rigidity and any feelings the relationship is impersonal
-
We offer access to a range of healing opportunities outside of the 1:1 Support, including fortnightly group trips with other young survivors to establish connection and reduce isolation, fortnightly group wellbeing workshops, access to Youth Employment opportunities within our creative education curriculum and opportunities to shape the organisation through our independent Youth Board.

We rescue surplus food from businesses, farms and supermarkets. This food is nutritious, in-date and safe, and includes a high proportion of fresh vegetables and fruit. If we did not rescue this food, it would be at risk of going to waste. Our food is a vital lifeline for children and families, people on low incomes, people who have lost their jobs, the homeless, refugees, domestic abuse survivors, the elderly and key workers.
We operate out of two depots; Guildford (Surrey) and Brighton (Sussex) as part of 35 Regional Centres, working as a network across the country with FareShare, a national charity. Last year, we delivered enough food for 2.14 million meals to help vulnerable people in our community. We receive and deliver around 80 tonnes of food every month, currently to 147 organisations, including homeless shelters, community pantries, food banks, clubs, children’s centres and lunch clubs across 3 counties. Employability at FareShare Sussex & Surrey FareShare Sussex & Surrey has run a pilot employability programme through its Brighton Depot for 4 years and has taken these learnings to relaunch our programme across both our depots in Brighton and Guildford. This project will work with long-term unemployed people and those from the probation service (Brighton) and 18-25 year olds who are far from education, employment or training (Guildford) to provide the support they need to successfully secure and sustain meaningful employment.
The project will work with 60 Trainees a year across the 2 depots and will provide an integrated, person-centred employment service for the long-term unemployed in Sussex and Surrey. The project will be designed based upon the best practice currently within and external to the FareShare Network. These are the 3 core project elements of Employment Support, Work Experience and Training & Wellbeing.
Due to the nature of the job market in the region, our programme will focus on the hospitality industry. Utilising our commercial kitchen space at Brighton and clean room at Guildford, we will provide a varied package of kitchen skills, barista training and stock control across both depots.
In each element, Trainees will receive a tailored programme of 1-2-1 and group support. Activities will include coaching Trainees in important work skills and supporting them through the processes of searching for, securing and sustaining employment. Each Trainee will be taken through an assessment process to identify what is required to support them to secure sustainable employment. An individual development plan will be created for each Trainee. This will also include developing links to employers and educational establishments to source employment and progression opportunities for Trainees.
Creating and managing partnerships with other local community assets to bring wellbeing services into the regional centre or encourage, support and enable Trainees to access additional wellbeing support in the community will also be vital to the success of the programme. Each Trainee will have a limited personal development budget to engage with other services.
Trainees will be engaged in utilising strength and asset based approaches and the aims of the project encompass improving Trainee wellbeing and personal development in addition to skills training and the overarching aim of enabling Trainees to secure employment.
