About the role

This vacancy is for a University Access Officer to work in two of our schools in Hackney and Highbury currently delivering our Gateway programme and moving to our new Accelerate programme next school year.

The University Access Officer works with school staff at all levels, volunteer tutors and coaches, and with the rest of The Access Project’s team to ensure that the delivery of our programmes is optimised.

Role responsibilities

• Work directly with students in a professional and safe manner.

• Engage with school staff, your Programme Manager, and students in school to ensure that you have fully enrolled cohorts across both programmes.

• Assess student progress towards being able to make successful Key Stage 5 and university applications.

• Upload information onto the Salesforce database in a timely manner (training is provided).

• Work with school staff to ensure their cooperation and timely completion of activities contributing to the smooth running of the programmes.

• Present at termly school meetings with Senior Management to report on our programmes progress.

• Support the wider team by attending university site visits which take place on occasional Saturdays and weekday evenings (paid time off is provided).

Training and Development

You will be provided with regular monthly training so that you can develop your skills and succeed in the role. Possible is a climate action charity working on climate solutions which improve people’s lives, support communities and cut the cost of living, as well as slashing carbon. Our “Where We Live” workstrand creates innovative new ways to improve the roll-out of clean, affordable heat and energy, and to better insulate homes.

As our new Community Heat and Energy Project Manager, you’ll play a key role in delivering our major new community heat and energy workstrand. You’ll work with expert partners to move forward local renewable energy projects which help power clean heat solutions at three different sites, as well as developing ways to remove barriers to delivering this type of project, such as supplying energy locally and matching supply and demand. 

The role will include coordinating and working with key expert partners, including community energy groups and research partners, across the three sites. The design stage of the project is largely complete, but there is still scope for creativity in delivery.

Like all our staff, you will contribute to our anti-oppression work, attend team-wide meetings and training sessions and feed in to the production of organisational strategy. You will work closely with senior directors, commissioners, and internal stakeholders to develop compelling submissions that meet financial targets and organisational goals. You will work independently but also part of the wider bid team, collaborating with subject matter experts as required. 

Overview of key responsibilities:

• Lead on the development and submission of competitive bids, ensuring they are delivered on time and to the highest standard.
• Collaborate with senior directors and internal teams to secure approvals and budgets for bids.

The Director of Policy and Public Affairs will play an important role in protecting and advancing equality and human rights in the UK. This role will focus on growing our policy and public affairs capacity so that we can achieve the goals set out in Together for Social Justice, our 10-year strategy. 

You’ll develop and deliver high-impact policy influencing strategies on our three big issues of law, climate and investment. This will mean working on vital public policy issues such as embedding equality and human rights in the government’s mission-driven approach, ensuring a strong legal framework of rights protections, improving public awareness of the value of human rights, and creating a work programme to ensure that people’s whose rights are most at risk can lead policy development on climate breakdown.

You’ll have a strong track record of creating innovative policy solutions that influence public policy and secure social change; the ability to forge and nurture constructive dialogue and working relationships across the political spectrum and within civil society, and a deep understanding of how to increase racial justice at systemic level. You’ll be confident communicating complex legal and technical issues in an engaging way that brings their practical impacts to life for a wide range of audiences, including the media. Rolling out Project-Y takes significant time and financial investment, especially as we are providing seed funding for placing youth workers, alongside intensive support when they are palced in churches.

This summer we have a unique opportunity to platform the story of Project-Y in the USA. We need someone to take a leading role in the management and delivery of this incredibly exciting fundraising campaign. This will give us access to approximately 73,000 young people and leaders across 900+ individual churches. This is an unprecedented exposure to potential supporters, partners, and donors.

With your skill base and expertise, could you help us to maximise this opportunity?

The Campaign Manager will drive and catalyse the support base required to propel Project-Y forward. We know this opportunity offers a concentrated pipeline to financial sustainability, both in regard to immediate one-off donations, but also longer-term multi-year support.

We have the front facing ask of the campaign in place. However, the missing piece is someone to manage and utilise the best systems and communication techniques to make sure the back-end processing of the campaign is smooth and seemless. The Campaign Manager will be responsible for donor stewardship, supporter segmentation, ongoing communication, optimising databases processes and increasing engagement to ensure the long-term sustainability of the program. 

The Campaign Manager will have excellent expereince in donor management, skilled in automated and relational communications, and ideally is passionate about youth ministry. Someone who understands church partnerships, and excels in campaign management and especially the execution. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and manage communications for this campaign Develop appropriate donor communication strategy and suitable platform engagement for each of the three calls of action: young people, leaders and churches. 

• Organise segment-based communications to keep supporters and those interested with the campaign informed and engaged.
• Implement a systematic donor stewardship plan, ensuring timely acknowledgment of gifts, personalised appreciation, and impact reporting to reinforce the value of their contributions.
• Gather and share stories of young people, churches, and youth leaders impacted by Project-Y.
• Segment churches into Major, Mid-Level, and General categories based on their giving capacity and engagement level.
• Develop a tiered engagement structure that aligns with these segments, providing churches of all sizes with meaningful opportunities to contribute while offering deeper engagement and exclusive experiences to those with the highest giving capacity.

• Ensure accurate capturing of data
• Develop data analysis to ensure success of this campaign and enable effective  foundations for ongoing fundraising

• Schedule and facilitate meetings between large churches and CIY’s European Director when appropriate.
• Plan and coordinate site visits for large supporting churches to witness first-hand the impact of Project-Y.
• Set up post campaign systems and priorities.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Experience in donor stewardship and fundraising.

• Significant leadership experience in campaign management preferred.

• Expertise in donor segmentation, data-driven decision-making, and fundraising analytics.

• Significant experience of database management (CIY use HubSpot), data compliance (GDPR), and advanced Excel capabilities.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to develop and execute relationship-building strategies.

• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to use initiative.

• Passion for youth ministry and CIY’s mission.

Miscellaneous:

• Salary: depending on qualifications and experience, the starting salary will be between £40,000 to £45,000 pro rata, per annum. 

• Work-related expenses will be reimbursed monthly on a receipted basis.  A mileage allowance will be paid for travel expenses.

• Holidays: You are entitled to 25 days per annum and ten statutory holidays, pro rata.

• This work may require some evening and weekend work. These sessions will be considered part of your working hours, where extra time is required, TOIL will be accrued and redeemed at a later stage. 

About the role

We are delighted to have received three-year funding from the Aviva Foundation to fund this brand-new Grants Officer role based in London.

You’ll be part of our Programmes team supporting kinship carers in London to access grants which will help reduce financial stress. This could be grants to buy things like white goods and uniforms or accessing Buttle grants to support children growing up in kinship care.

As Grants Officer you’ll talk to kinship carers, discuss their needs, their priorities and then write charitable grant applications on their and their family’s behalf. 

You will oversee and deliver the grants process, including co-ordinating the purchase of items (such as children’s clothes, beds or washing machines), collecting receipts for items as required by the funders and liaising with all teams to ensure timely receipt of funds within the charity and to the kinship carers.

Building relationships with funders is core, sharing the impact of the grants and insight about the lives of kinship families in London. You’ll work closely with Programmes, Peer Support, Training and Advice colleagues who work with kinship families in London.

You will also create and run online and face-to-face workshops and clinics, helping kinship carers to understand how to apply for other grants, thereby encouraging resilience and confidence to apply for grants themselves.

You will be a proactive and persuasive relationship builder, able to create partnerships with a range of organisations and peer support groups that support kinship families.

You’ll build trusting and respectful relationships with kinship carers who you will work one-to-one with in community settings. And you’ll build relationships with a range of grant giving organisations across London.

We’re looking for someone who can really deliver impact and demonstrate how embedding this role into the community helps to unlock funding and support for kinship carers at a local level.

We are looking for someone who is really organised and who is able to capture and present information clearly in a persuasive grant application. The successful applicant will be compassionate, empathetic, and organised. We are looking for someone who understands the needs of kinship families.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering our new grants service across London.
• Meeting performance targets and KPIs as directed.
• Working with kinship carers and their families across London to gather information to complete and submit grant applications.
• Administering grants we secure for our kinship carers and carry out all the necessary administration related to grants.
• Undertaking research to identify funders and build excellent relationships with local grant making charities in order to increase support for kinship families.
• Delivering grant workshops at peer support groups sharing information about locally available grants and providing advice and support on making a successful application.
• Running face-to-face grant clinics within peer support groups or community venues in London, working directly with kinship carers to write and submit requests for grants.

Essential criteria includes:

• Experience of speaking to vulnerable people on the telephone, face-to-face and online, and gathering information with empathy and understanding.
• Experience of working with socially excluded or marginalised people and their families in face-to-face and community settings.
• Experience of running online and face-to-face workshops. 
• An understanding of budgeting, managing money, income and expenditure.
• Proven understanding of the importance of confidentiality and a non-judgmental approach.
• Evidence of awareness of safeguarding issues and good practice. 
• Experience of organising and prioritising a busy workload without close supervision.
• Proven clear understanding of the need to keep grants records and communication with kinship carers and funders up to date.
• Excellent research and writing skills.

This is an exciting career opportunity for an individual who is keen to use their skills and knowledge to make a positive impact and advance the understanding of weather and climate in society through informal education. In this role at the Royal Meteorological Society, you will have ownership of the Science Engagement programme of work, supporting the development of new partnership opportunities in line with the Society’s business development goals, and use your scientific knowledge to advise and develop engaging content for various RMetS activities and stakeholders. Reporting to the Head of Publishing and Scientific Engagement you will also guide the Society’s work with various industry sectors.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Ownership of Science Engagement programme of work, strategy, budget and committee.
• Proactively support the development of new partnership opportunities by identifying key weather and climate topics, potential partners and experts, and managing projects and partnership relationships.
• Oversee, facilitate and project manage (including course development) all RMetS Climate Communication Training opportunities.
• Oversight and Line Management of part-time Science Engagement Fellows and their associated Special Interest Groups.
• Work with the Events Committee to review scientific programme content and support programme development; Sit on the Annual Conference committee and National Climate Impacts Meeting committee.
