Job description

Are you ready to end hunger together, by supporting food banks to mobilise and campaign for change?

You'll be joining the UK's leading anti-poverty charity in this exciting and unique Campaigns Mobilisation Officer role, working together to ensure no one in the UK needs a food bank to survive.

Salary: £37,439
Contract: 12 months fixed-term, 37.5 hours FTE
Location: Homebased with occasional travel to London and other locations for team engagement
Sector leading benefits: 36 days (bank & Christmas inclusive), up to 8% employer pension contribution, enhanced parental & sick leave
Culture: Agile, flexible and collaborative

About Trussell

Trussell provides emergency food and support to people in need. They exist so that everyone can be free from hunger. Last year, their community of food banks distributed 3.1 million emergency food parcels - the most ever in a single year.

We need urgent action on hunger in the UK. People are being pushed to the brink because they don't have enough money to live on. This can't go on.

About the role

You'll support the delivery of an ambitious programme to mobilise food banks in the Trussell network to campaign for change. By supporting the development and delivery of campaign content and resources for the food bank network, you'll get the chance to lead on some key elements and an opportunity to create real impact.

A central part of the role is ensuring that people with lived experience own and are at the heart of their campaigning. As the main point of contact for food banks engaged in Trussell policy campaigns, you'll make sure that content and actions are accessible to the whole network.

How will you do this?

  • Develop high-level campaign content that's accessible and packs a punch.
  • Liaise with food banks on campaign activity to help make things happen.
  • Support development of robust participation structures, focused on lived experience.
  • Identify patterns and trends, and ensure feedback reaches the right place for change to happen.

About you

First and foremost, you're an experienced campaigns specialist with a background in designing and developing resources, activities, and content for campaigners and social change makers.

Here's more skills, experience and behaviours that will enable you to succeed in this role:

  • You've worked with people with lived experience, providing structures to get their meaningful input.
  • You manage projects and deadlines using well-honed time and priority management skills.
  • You seek and balance a range of views and stakeholders, influencing where required.
  • You confidently communicate to a range of audiences from a diverse range of backgrounds (including people with lived experience of poverty).
  • You role model inclusive behaviour, always using a values-led approach.

If you agree that 2025 is the year to do something about food poverty, please get in touch with a copy of your profile or CV to Amelia Lee at Charity People.

Deadline: 9am on Friday 14th February

Interview dates will be confirmed soon.
