Would you like to be at the centre of a major fundraising appeal improving lives for thousands of people across the UK? 

We are looking for an organised and creative Project Manager to coordinate our ongoing multi-million pound appeal. The campaign is funding specialist nurses and therapists for Parkinson’s, making a huge difference to the lives of people living with the condition. Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurological condition, and this work is one of the charity’s top strategic priorities for 2024 and 2025 and a crucial fundraising and communications priority.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with fundraising and communications teams across the charity, including Philanthropy, Trusts, Commercial Partnerships and Special Events, with a growing focus on Individual Giving, Events, Community and Supporter Experience as the appeal builds momentum. 

We’re looking for someone who has successfully managed diverse projects, and also has experience of working in one or more of these fundraising disciplines to ensure they can hit the ground running. We’re keen to hear from people who have a proactive and problem-solving approach, and who enjoy working with lots of different people and on varied topics. 

The role will join an ambitious and supportive team coordinating projects across fundraising, and will benefit from flexible working conditions and the can-do attitude that runs through Parkinson’s UK’s Fundraising and Experience directorate. The post-holder will have the opportunity to learn from colleagues in several fundraising teams, growing their own skills and knowledge.

What you’ll do:

• Operationally plan and project manage the charity’s multi-year fundraising appeal, building systems and processes to ensure its success.

• Prepare project and campaign materials to support fundraising colleagues and volunteers with promotion and marketing, specific proposals, pitches and events.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Fundraising Directorate to identify existing and new supporters to share appeal plans and materials with

• Set and update specific targets for the appeal and track financial performance from pipeline through to banked income.

What you’ll bring:

• Experience of planning and project managing fundraising appeals and campaigns (or similar complex projects), leading to achievement of goals and targets. 

• Highly organised and able to manage a range of activities across different teams, encouraging and motivating colleagues to support the project goals and creating compelling project updates and reports. 

• Excellent interpersonal skills and confident working with key stakeholders at many levels within the charity. 

• Knowledge of key fundraising disciplines, including having worked with high value audiences or experience of digital marketing and engagement.

About the role 

Volunteers are highly valued at Parkinson’s UK because of the vital contribution they make to our aims for supporting people affected by Parkinson’s.  You’ll provide high quality operational support in the team that exists to provide an excellent volunteering experience for the incredible people who freely give their time to support the Parkinson’s community.

What you’ll do:

• Provide high quality administrative support for the team under the direction of the Operations Manager; 
• Respond to volunteer queries and provide support as and when needed; 
• Assist in the production of materials and and resources and ensure they are disseminated appropriately; 
• Assist colleagues with the recruitment and on-boarding of volunteers including learning opportunities; 
• Carry out the daily administration associated with the volunteer management system (Assemble) and support volunteers in their use of the system; 
• Maintain volunteer records as required;
• Process, upload and send content, news, adverts, email, and updates on Assemble and to other platforms as required; 
• Liaise with the content team for the design of promotional materials; 
• Support with volunteering learning and development, including liaising with suppliers, creating materials and completing training administration.
• Gather and collate feedback on key areas of the team’s work

• A commitment to providing great service standards to volunteers and colleagues 
• Strong administration skills and experience 
• Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to get things done in a timely manner

About the role

Volunteers are highly valued at Parkinson’s UK because of the vital contribution they make to our aims for supporting people affected by Parkinson’s.  You’ll help us build our engagement with volunteers and local groups by connecting, listening, sharing and celebrating the contribution they make and the impact they have for people living with Parkinson’s. 

What you’ll do:

• Support the Engagement and Recognition Manager to deliver our volunteer and local group engagement and recognition strategy
• Schedule, write and publish content for our volunteer management system (Assemble)
• Support the preparation and delivery of  our quarterly All Volunteer Calls
• Write, edit and co-ordinate the distribution of monthly newsletters to local group volunteers
• Support and facilitate the connections between both volunteers and local groups 
• Be responsible for the day to day delivery of our plans to thank, recognise and celebrate volunteers
• Support the Engagement and Recognition Manager with the preparation and delivery of key annual events to celebrate our volunteer community, for example Volunteers’ Week
• Support colleagues around the organisation with engagement and recognition activities
• Collaborate with colleagues and volunteers from across the charity to gather stories and ideas for sharing and celebrating
• Gather feedback from volunteers to ensure that we are listening and responding to their insights and opinions, and determining areas for development/improvement

What you’ll bring:

Parkinson’s UK offer hybrid working a minimum of 2 days per week from their London office.

In this role, you take responsibility for developing new and existing relationships with our celebrity supporters and their agents, stewarding their journey with the charity and making them strong and dedicated advocates across our strategic priorities. You’ll bring creative and proactive ideas ensuring we’re prioritising requests to maximise the potential of our high profile supporters.

Key Responsibilities:

· Implement and own our celebrity strategy and individual stewardship plans to support this, resulting in highly committed and engaged high profile supporters.

· Lead on outreach and negotiation with new, potential supporters for charity activities.

· Manage and prioritise requests for VIP support from across the charity ensuring that they are aligned with our strategic aims.

· Be the first point of contact for celebrities looking for support, signposting them within the charity or acting as intermediary for confidential requests.

· Take responsibility for the management and development of the Celebrity Officer.

· Work with colleagues across the charity to maximise our celebrity supporters across all communications channels, highlighting new opportunities as they arise.

· Make sure that our celebrity supporters are well briefed and up to date with key messages.

· Ensure that our celebrity activity is tracked, reported and evaluated to show the value they bring to the charity.

Person Specification:

· Extensive experience of working strategically with celebrities and their management teams.

· Creative and proactive approach to celebrity engagement and ongoing stewardship.

· Negotiation and persuasion skills to ensure that high profile supporters understand why we’re the Parkinson’s charity to support.

· The ability to build and maintain relationships with discretion and sensitivity.

· Understanding and awareness of the GDPR when handling personal data and information.

· Working understanding of PR and social media to amplify opportunities.

· Excellent attention to detail, organisational and communication skills.

· Ability to prioritise your workload and support your team members to do the same in line with organisational priorities.

· Experience of operating in a modern digital workplace, including using digital tools (and what is needed from the role) to work collaboratively and productively.
