Could you bring the problem solving skills and inspiring approach needed to a vital rapid response service for women experiencing homelessness in Bristol?

We are looking for someone to join the Respite Rooms as a Project Worker. 

Managed in partnership by St Mungo’s and Next Link on behalf of the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), the Respite Rooms is a 12 month pilot offering short stay temporary accommodation, providing a specialist gender and trauma informed service for women with complex needs fleeing or at risk of domestic and/or gender-based violence. 

In the role of Project Worker you will work as part of a dedicated team to provide a safe, high quality, positive and inclusive service to women with multiple support needs, who have also experienced domestic violence and VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls).

You will carry out comprehensive client assessments; providing clients with personalised case management support to help connect them into specialist external services, ensuring a housing pathway so the women can be rapidly and safely rehoused.

You will work on the weekly shift rota that includes some evenings, weekends. In some of these role’s staff can claim an additional 20% pay premium for hours worked between 8pm and 8am Monday to Friday, and all hours worked on Saturday and Sunday.

About you 

We are looking for enthusiastic people with experience of working with vulnerable people and an understanding of the needs of women experiencing homelessness. If you have good communication and listening skills, patience and resilience we will provide you with the knowledge and training you need to work with clients in a holistic and person-centred way. You should also demonstrate:

• An interest in developing own learning around current DV and VAWG related issues, housing legislation, welfare benefit, and other matters relevant supporting positive outcomes for our clients.
• Good networking skills, able to build effective working relationships and liaise with a number of internal and external partners agencies to achieve effective outcomes.

About The Respect Young People’s Service (RYPS)

The Respect Young People’s Service (RYPS) provides high quality, training, consultation and support for practitioners working with young people who harm. They create innovative, evidence based intervention to promote behaviour change and reduce the risk of harm. There are 2 main branches of the work: young people who harm parents or carers and young people who harm in intimate relationship abuse 

About the role:

This is an exciting and innovative opportunity for a dynamic and inspirational lead to galvanise the response to CAPVA (Child or adolescent to parent violence or abuse) within the Merseyside area. This is a second tier role which involves coordinating, training and supporting professionals to recognise and respond to CAPVA.  The postholder will be engaging with a variety of professionals who work across services dedicated to children and young people including health, education, early help and children’s services.

The aim of the role is to remove the barriers families face in accessing support by ensuring that staff in universal services can recognise and respond to CAPVA. Working to reduce the stigma and shame associated with CAPVA and ensuring that parents can reach out in confidence that they will be listened to and supported. 

The role involves mapping and coordinating current CAPVA intervention to identify systemic gaps in provision. The post holder will be responsible for developing and building a delivery plan focusing on identified gaps, building on current provision and providing training in identified areas of need. They will need to bring together the insights of service users, practitioners, specialist organisations and researchers to build solutions. 

Extensive CAPVA knowledge is not required as full training will be given. A background of working with young people who harm and training experience is essential as is a non judgemental approach.

Main Tasks:

• Train identified practitioners to deliver Respect Young People’s Programme (training will be given).

• Support practitioners delivering CAPVA intervention with casework enquiries

• Support services to address barriers to engagement and improve inclusivity 

• Generate detailed reports on training activities, implementation progress, and impact on performance metrics for funders.

The post-holder will work within a well-established Money Advice Team to provide Technical Supervision to a team of debt advisers. They may on occasion be expected to provide debt advice and casework themselves, assisting clients to achieve the best outcome for their circumstances.

About the role

This post will work as part of a community partnership programme, a small team providing accessible and bespoke perinatal care including, antenatal education, postnatal sessions, peer support, counselling and practical support to women from low-income migrant marginalised backgrounds. The role will provide non-judgmental, compassionate and trauma-informed care to women accessing the service and provide an initial assessment of needs and regular reviews. This role will coordinate inclusive and sensitive evaluation and data collection methods to evidence service impact and work collaboratively with stakeholders and researchers to enable women to participate in opportunities to share their maternity experience.

To be successful in this role you will have:

· Experience of supporting or working with marginalised or vulnerable groups and understanding the barriers they face to accessing support and an awareness of ways in overcoming them 

· Knowledge and experience working or volunteering with women and birthing people during pregnancy and early years 

· Experience working within a relevant sector e.g., maternity, children’s services, homelessness, women’s services, mental health, supporting asylum and refugee families 

· Strong commitment to improve equity and equality in maternity care

· Ability to handle challenging situations and behavior with a calm, flexible and confident approach to reach a positive resolution 

· Experience in evidencing impact, using inclusive approaches of evaluation and data collection

· Able to work reflectively, developing an awareness of your own and others’ relational styles and responses, and any judgements, biases or assumptions that may impact upon your work.

You will work closely with colleagues across the organisation to drive influence and impact with policy-makers in government, parliament and the wider political arena to make a difference for people affected by dementia and their families.

You will play a key role in a creative and dynamic team and will take initiative to work on projects and initiatives that maximise our impact with key decision makers. The role may include work in London and elsewhere in the UK.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Public Affairs

· Supervise a programme of parliamentary engagement for the organisation.

· Ensure ARUK has a meaningful role in shaping future legislation on dementia, healthcare and scientific research.

· Lead responses and briefings on key legislation and guidance, including proposed drafting of amendments where appropriate.

· Take a leading role in our government relations work including building and maintain relationships with key government stakeholders including Ministers, SPADs and civil servants.

· Co-ordinate parliamentary briefs, develop submissions for parliamentary questions, Select Committees and other opportunities presented through the parliamentary system.

· Work with team to develop and implement Public Affairs products, processes and ways of working to maximise impact and efficiency.

· Ensure the Public Affairs team is delivering timely monitoring and successfully identifying, creating and leveraging parliamentary opportunities and securing influencing opportunities to achieve policy change.

· Ensure appropriate system of tracking engagement is in place and ensure the Public affairs Team are updating it regularly.

· Provide regular updates and advice to the team, senior staff and wider organisation so they are up to date on our advocacy, engagement with key stakeholders and wider changes in the environment.

Influencing

· Work with the Senior Public Affairs and Campaigns Manager to implement and further develop ARUK’s external affairs strategy, working with policy colleagues to ensure an aligned public affairs function that delivers on our influencing goals.

· Work with wider department to devise and deliver influencing plans for priority areas, ensuring PA involvement in strategy development from the outset.

Stakeholder management

· Work across the organisation to develop stakeholder management processes and mechanisms that help us to manage and derive insights from key organisational relationships.

· Play a key role in developing ARUK's influencing stakeholder contact programme and identifying opportunities and strategies to improve engagement.

· Build effective personal relationships with other organisations, political parties, parliamentarians and their offices across both Houses and relevant Government departments.

· Ensure the team are effectively managing relationships and tracking stakeholder information, and key stakeholders are informed of relevant media stories, reports and consultation responses etc.

· Identify opportunities to partner with other organisations in order to maximise our impact as an organisation.

· Deliver expert political insight and sense making to help the team and wider organisation navigate the external environment.

· Represent ARUK at parliamentary and other events and conferences, potentially including national party conferences.

· Co-ordinate and attend meetings with parliamentarians and stakeholders alongside senior staff and to provide briefings for staff.

The Role

We are looking for a proactive, committed and skilled Governance Officer to join the team.

In this role you will provide a comprehensive, high quality secretariat service, particularly to the Bishop’s Council, which acts as the Board of Directors of the Diocesan Board of Finance (income £30M, assets £520m, over 100 staff) and oversees a wide range of activity.
