Community Connector

Our Community Connector’s serve as the first point of contact for those visiting our sites, providing support for people to engage with services and activities.

The role aims to build relationships, identify peoples’ interests and goals and find appropriate opportunities for support. This role will be largely based in our main location, in Bromley by Bow, and Welcome Hub in East India Dock Rd, which we are developing in partnership with Poplar HARCA, an award-winning housing association in East London.

The role may also be deployed to other sites to support with gaps in capacity e.g. due to annual leave, sickness or other absences of staff. Wherever based, our Community Connectors work to ensure that members of the community are aware of support available to them locally.

The role will also involve co-designing, developing, delivering, and reviewing a programme of activities and resident-led initiatives. The role is very much integrated with other services provided in our locations, mainly our advice services (e.g. social welfare, energy and financial capability) and our open access services.
We expect all our staff to be able to work with some flexibility across Centre’s and offer support to the community. This role will support teams if a sudden need arises due to lack of capacity.

Purpose of the Job
The Dad Matters coordinators deliver a range of universal and targeted interventions aimed at male parents in the First 1001 Days. They support dads and other male carers with attachment and bonding, mental health and access to service. They also work with professionals and perinatal services to ensure dads and male carers are engaged, supported and heard within clinical pathways.

The post holder will:

• Build on the Home-Start Haringey, Hackney and Waltham Forest foundation of peer support by engaging and supporting dads in one to one and group situations.
• Ensure that parent – infant relationships are a thread through every relationship and conversation with dads.
• Raise awareness of the risks of poor mental health for fathers and their families during the perinatal period
• Raise awareness of the impact on fathers of caring for a partner affected by perinatal mental health issues 
• Develop the Dad Matters volunteer role
• Develop close links with other health and voluntary agencies
• Facilitate regular consultation with fathers through outreach and focus groups

Main Responsibilities

Support to Dads

The post holder will provide individual and group support to dads during the perinatal period.  This will involve the following: 

• Meeting dads at ante-natal clinics
• Facilitating or co-facilitating ante-natal Dad Chats in person and online
• Supporting the developments of support offered to dads with children on NICU and those with partners in receipt of care from Perinatal Mental Health teams, Adult Mental Health, IAPT and Parent Infant Mental Health teams
• Signposting and supporting access to other services as appropriate
• Undertake designated responsibilities to safeguard and promote children’s welfare
• Ensure equality of opportunity, fairness and diversity in all aspects of work
• Facilitate regular consultation with fathers in order to ensure that all resources are targeted appropriately

Promotion & Awareness Raising:

Action for Conservation is a grassroots charity using pioneering approaches to inspire and empower young people from diverse backgrounds, between the ages of 12 and 24, to become the next generation of environmental leaders. • Lead Action for Conservation’s work in the North West, ensuring that regional targets and objectives are achieved and supporting the expansion of our programmes and projects in line with our organisational strategy.

Set in a leafy heritage building, and ‘T&T2’, our second venue in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, we offer something for everyone. With a history of 137 years of supporting people of all ages in Rotherhithe and Bermondsey, we bring people together for mutual support, fun and friendship, with a wide range of services and activities for older people and other adults, along with volunteering and children and families’ projects. Since resuming services post-Covid, we have realized the needs and wants of the community have shifted from our previous offer. We have a strong Community Development programme to connect with and rebuild our offer, including some big changes to pre-Covid ways of working. • Strategic development and oversight of community programmes for children, adults and across multiple generations

This is an exciting opportunity to lead, develop and manage FoodCycle’s Programmes team in London & South East.FoodCycle’s mission is to nourish the hungry and lonely in our communities with delicious meals and great conversation, using food which would otherwise go to waste.​

As London & South East Area Manager you will represent, manage and co-ordinate FoodCycle Community Meals/Projects in these geographical regions.With over 30 Community Meals/Projects across the region it is a great time to join a fantastic team.​

You will be tasked with growing FoodCycle impact in London & South East region, strengthening existing projects and developing community partnerships. You will lead the London & South East team, effectively manage and establish this area, and ensure that FoodCycle is supporting as many people as possible in our local communities.​

​An excellent communicator, you will have experience in line management, programme development and delivery, volunteer management and working with vulnerable adults. You will manage your area team ensuring they are trained, supported and on-message with FoodCycle strategy, and ensuring that volunteers are confident enough to self-organise and make a success of their Projects.​

You will need to live in London & South East, and be able to travel to projects in London & South East area for this exciting role.​

Job Title: Partnerships Manager

Location: London, Manchester or Birmingham

Salary: £33,000 - £39,000 London or £31,000 - £37,000 Manchester and Birmingham

Terms: 5 days per week (37.5 hours), open to flexible working arrangements

Purpose of the role:

The main purpose of the Partnerships Manager role is to lead on the delivery of first-class account management to a diverse portfolio of corporate partners, generating income to support Breaking Barriers’ work. Each partnership at Breaking Barriers is bespoke, comprising fundraising, skilled volunteering, awareness raising and, crucially, placement and job opportunities for our refugee clients.

Working closely with the wider Partnerships Management and Programmes teams, you will be responsible for launching new partnerships and retaining business by deepening relationships and identifying opportunities for growth.

The successful candidate will have experience managing corporate partner relationships, including making fundraising asks and managing external communication with donors and partners at all levels of seniority. You will deploy your influencing skills and ability to build profitable relationships to great effect as you take a leading role identifying and nurturing future strategic partnerships. An understanding of Corporate Social Responsibility would be advantageous.

We are recruiting a General Advice Officer to support with the delivery of advice and welfare support to guests who access Sufra’s Food Bank, Community Kitchen and the Community Wellbeing Project. The General Advice Officer will support our guests on a range of areas including benefits, immigration, housing, wellbeing, money management and access to training and employment services. The post-holder will provide high quality welfare advice and guidance through weekly one-to-one advice sessions, undertake case work, work with partners to facilitate referrals, and provide support to advice volunteers.

The successful candidate must have at least two years’ experience delivering effective advice in a similar capacity, demonstrate empathy, an understanding of the issues facing vulnerable people, and have in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of welfare benefits with a strong focus on achieving tangible outcomes for our guests.
