Through our 6 week course we help them to feel calm, confident, to have positive thoughts about themselves, to have higher self esteem and trust in others. We work with over 2000 children and young people across the UK every year and have reached over 14,000 over the past 14 years.
It is an exciting time to join the charity - we have a new CEO in post who has plans to take this charity to new heights - reaching even more children than ever before and we need an experienced fundraiser who can help us achieve that vision. Working as part of a small fundraising team you will have the ability to really make a substantial difference.
The role is advertised as 15 hours however there is the hope that this will end up being increased in the not too distant future. We will consider candidiates working remotely but for those based near HQ (Newquay, Cornwall) you will be able to join in with our pre work swims/paddles/coffee on the beach and our Bring and Share lunches! We are looking for a Commercial Senior Manager / Associate Director to drive the next phase of the No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS). The NILS pilot has already lent over £10 million to more than 13,000 financially vulnerable people, demonstrating the positive impact of affordable credit. This is a unique opportunity to lead a multi-million-pound programme through its final stages and oversee its strategic scaling for long-term sustainability.
The scheme is currently funded by HM Treasury, JP Morgan, and Fair4All Finance. We are looking for an experienced senior lead with a background in both commercial delivery and business case development, fluent in working with the public sector, mainstream finance, and civil society to oversee the final stages of the pilot delivery and to take charge of scaling up NILS.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead the No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS) Programme: Oversee the final delivery phase of the NILS pilot, with the Programme Delivery Manager
· Develop the Business Case: Build the long-term commercial model and business case for NILS, identifying sustainable funding solutions and influencing senior stakeholders

The Global Legal Action Network (GLAN) works with affected communities to pursue innovative legal actions across borders to challenge states and other powerful actors involved in human rights violations and systemic injustice. Our actions address the most pressing instances of human rights concern and they fall within the following themes: War and occupation; accountability and supply chains; environmental and economic justice; and migration and border violence.
Since our establishment in 2016, we have developed legal strategies directly addressing human rights impacts in over 23 countries and territories. Our cases include the successful legal challenge against imports of cotton produced with forced labour in Xinjiang (East Turkistan) into the UK on behalf of World Uyghur Congress and the climate case against 32 European States before the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights, brought on behalf of six Portuguese youth-applicants.
More recently, we have supported the preeminent Palestinian human rights organisation Al Haq, to rapidly challenge UK weapons exports to Israel due to the risk of these arms being used in violations of international law.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Head of Strategic Communications at GLAN, you will spearhead the development and execution of a comprehensive communications strategy that amplifies GLAN's mission and impact on a global scale.

To support SEND (young people with disabilities) on the Shaw Trust supported internships to progress on their work placements and make successful transitions into paid work. To provide training and support for business partners and families, to ensure success during the workplace placements and to seek out job opportunities both within and outside of the host employer.

Job Description
- Provides individualised support for interns at the host business worksite placement or competitive job which includes: job coaching, identifying job placements, assistive technology, etc.
- Attends host business induction to ensure student understanding and learning
- Works with managers and co-workers to educate on disability awareness
- Communicates with parents on a regular basis
- Visits students and give feedback to all team members
- Meets daily with tutor to discuss student progress
- Meets regularly with business liaison, managers and peer mentors to discuss student strengths and challenges, issues, progress, etc
- Works with tutor to plan events such as induction, information nights/Open days and graduation
- Works with other team members to provide internal and external marketing for business and community such as newsletter articles, website information, tours, community presentations, social media etc.
- Communicates effectively with the tutor, other job coaches, the senior practitioner, employers, co-workers, family members, and school and agency personnel as it relates to the student being trained.
- Carries out steps of job coaching plan with students and other parties as appropriate.

- Train students in the areas of grooming, hygiene, communication, interviewing, and behaviour as they relate to successful employment.

About the role:
The successful applicant will work alongside our Trustees, our CEO and our existing Head of Fundraising and Communications in a jobshare to meet challenging fundraising targets. Mencap are recruiting for a Learning Disability Caseworker (LDC) to give advice on welfare benefits, housing, health, and community care, to people with a learning disability, their families, carers, and professionals working with them. Some of this advice will be live caseload, and some will be in preventative advice packs that you have created, these will then be added to the Mencap website and distributed by you through community networks.
The Learning Disability Caseworker role can be based where you want to work from, with occasional travel to casework venues and our Peterborough office. This role will be full time (37.5 hours) on a fixed term contract until September 2027.
