About The Felix Project
The Felix Project is London’s leading food redistribution charity, dedicated to ensuring good food is never wasted and no one goes hungry. Last year, our nearly 180 staff and over 15,000 volunteers collected 32 million meals of surplus food, distributing it to Londoners in need through a network of over 1,100 community organisations, charities, and schools.
In London, one in five households with children lack reliable access to nutritious food, while the UK wastes 20 tonnes of food per second. The cost of living in London has risen by 24% in the last three years, and food prices continue to climb. About 14% of working families have turned to food support services for the first time in the past year, and 100,000 London families have less than £3 a day for food.
Our work has never been more needed, and demand continues to grow: we are building our expertise and impact in response. The Felix Project now operates from four main depots in North, South, East, and West London, with ‘point-to-point’ projects in Central London and Canary Wharf. The East London depot has a kitchen producing up to 5,000 meals per day from surplus food. A new 'Multibank' in Ealing distributes non-food essentials.
Purpose of the Job
The Health & Safety Assistant will support the Health & Safety Lead in ensuring that The Felix Project complies with all relevant health, safety, and food safety legislation. This role is integral in maintaining a safe working environment across all our operations, assisting in the implementation of safety policies, and ensuring continuous improvement in health and safety practices. The Health & Safety Assistant will work closely with staff, volunteers, and external partners to promote a culture of safety and wellbeing.
Benefits
- 25 days annual leave per annum (+ bank holidays) plus up to 5 days additional leave for length of service.
- Enhanced Maternity and Paternity leave.
- Birthday day off.
- Access to benefit platform for a wide range of discounts on everyday spends plus gym discounts.
- Training and development opportunities.
- Employee assistance programme including 24 Hour GP helpline.
- Cycle to Work Scheme.
- Opportunity for free meals whilst working at our depots.
We deliver this surplus food to charities and schools so they can provide healthy meals and help the most vulnerable in our society.

About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join our small but professional and friendly development team to continue the delivery of our high-quality new build homes programme.
We design our homes to high standards, incorporating local architectural features. Our ‘fabric first’ approach to design and construction, coupled with and our commitment to renewable energy technologies, aims to reduce environmental impact and running costs for our residents. In her time in parliament Jo Cox MP established a commission on loneliness with Seema Kennedy MP. After her murder this became known as the Jo Cox Loneliness Commission, and was pivotal in bringing about and influencing the UK government’s first loneliness strategy.
Seven years on from the publication of the Jo Cox Loneliness Commission’s report, we have received funding from The Astra Foundation to establish a new Loneliness Policy Group for the voluntary sector to ensure a joined up approach and collaboration on this issue.
As Public Affairs and Policy Manager (Loneliness) at the Jo Cox Foundation you'll establish this group and lead it, working with trusted partners to generate policy recommendations and engaging policy makers, elected representatives, and other decision makers to advocate for their implementation.
As you would expect the Jo Cox Foundation has historically strong relationships with politicians across parties. This is especially true of our work on loneliness, where we continue to have unrivalled access to Ministers and Civil Servants.
This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to develop this area of work at the Foundation and drive policy change for the loneliness sector. Through this, you’ll continue the positive legacy already established for Jo in the field of loneliness and support our vision of a less lonely, better connected society in the UK.
