We’re an award-winning charity running local learning centres in the heart of the communities where the young people we support live. Our centres provide a high impact education programme which include practical learning support, pastoral care, and motivational and confidence-building activities for young people aged 7-18. As the UK’s leading university access organisation, our staff team is helping 52,000 young people each year at its 41 learning centres and extension projects across England and Scotland, and we plan to scale-up our provision to 50 centres over the coming years.
We are seeking a talented Interim Assistant Director of Programmes and Delivery, fully committed to our widening participation cause, to join the Senior Leadership Team for 8 months.
In your role, you will ensure that our centres are working effectively, that the high quality of programme delivery to young people is maintained across the network, and that targets are monitored and met. And of course, you will need to have a genuine passion and enthusiasm for working with young people and helping them achieve their ambitions.
As a member of our Senior Leadership Team you will also play an active and key role driving forward the broader objectives of the charity including its growth plans. Contract
This is an interim role from September 2024 to May 2025. This role can be either full-time or part-time (0.8 FTE) - responsibilities will be adjusted proportionally for part-time candidates.

09:00 to 17:30, Monday to Friday.
We are a delivery organisation providing frontline educational services for young people. The role will be based at one of our centres. We are an organisation with team members at different stages of their career, including many in their first roles: We are committed to nurturing talent and providing a developmental culture for all. Our central operations team works in-person 4 days per week (or 3 days for a 0.8 FTE staff member) with 1 day from home.
Location
The role could be based in one of the following offices, with regular travel: Bradford, Birmingham, Bristol, Clacton, Great Yarmouth, Hull, Kirkby, Leeds, Leicester, London, Manchester, Norwich, Nottingham, Weston-super-Mare.
Salary
- £52,000 from September 2024.
- Plus additional London contribution of £2,600 for London-based candidates.

This role
Justice and Care is at an exciting moment with the imminent launch of a new ten-year strategy and we are looking to build a finance function to support this growth.
We are recruiting for an experienced Programme Finance Manager to manage and oversee the outworking of key financial processes at Justice & Care. With a particular focus on support for our international projects funded by the US State Department and UK Government but with responsibilities also for our UK audit process and income/expenditure forecasting, this is a broad and varied role.
This is a new role and will be line managed by the Finance Director but will work closely with in-country finance leads, programme teams, the Development team and wider global teams
Your main responsibilities will include;

Collaborate with country finance leads and the programmes teams to develop detailed and well planned budgets for funding proposals including full cost recovery

Monitor programme spend against budget, advising programme leads on financial and compliance decisions and producing numeric and narrative financial reporting in various formats, predominantly institutional donors such as the US State Department

Project manage, forecast and monitor expenditure for UK programmes.

Liaise with grants managers and project leads to ensure compliance on restricted grants.

Key Responsibilities

Our expert team of canine behaviourists provide behavioural support and advice to teams within Battersea, members of the public, and the rescue organisations we work with around the world. The team design and help implement behaviour modification and training plans for dogs whilst coaching members of the canine care groups through the practical day-to-day steps. We are now looking to recruit a Canine Behaviour and Training Advisor for our team in London. Within this role, you will work with our operational teams in the assessment and welfare of the dogs in our care and in the provision of behavioural training and advice for staff, volunteers, customers and external organisations. You will be working as part of a care group to create behaviour modification plans, support with handling difficult dogs and make recommendations, along with the individual care group, for individual dog outcomes.

About the role

Key responsibilities
Social media
- Maintain Blagrave’s social media accounts, and work with the wider team to ensure a regular social media presence for Blagrave.
- Research, create, and publish content for Blagrave’s social media platforms. This includes writing, getting approval and scheduling content, and creating appropriate imagery that is engaging and aligned to Blagrave’s style guide.
- Proactively monitor our social media channels, responding as relevant.
- Monitor social media outputs of other charitable foundations and youth organisations to inspire and inform Blagrave’s communications output.
- Strengthen Blagrave’s digital output/presence and reach by tracking analytics via monthly reporting on social media performance, making recommendations of how we can engage with audiences more effectively
Website
- Regularly update and maintain the organisation’s website, liaising with colleagues to ensure all content is current and relevant.
- Publish regular blog posts and vacancies, when required.
Wider comms
- Liaise with colleagues in other teams to understand and support them in their comms needs, implementing internal / external comms initiatives as required.
- Design, draft and circulate internal and external comms outputs and suggest new ways to communicate our messages to our audiences.
- Be a guardian of Blagrave’s tone and brand identity, reviewing communications outputs prepared by the team.
- Share relevant comms assets and content to external stakeholders as required.
- Document Comms processes.
- Monitor Blagrave’s communication budget, liaising with the Head of Operations and Finance and Governance Manager.
Other
- Provide general support to the Blagrave team where additional capacity is needed across all areas of work.

The Café forms part of a central hub, housing a daytime café for the community and an after-school Youth Café that connects vulnerable young people to positive and inspiring role-models from their community, empowering and inspiring them to become active citizens in their community. The space is used for two similar, but distinct purposes and excellent working relationships between these are essential. This role is responsible for the daytime café and related income generating activities.
An initiative of the Matrix Trust, our café has built an excellent reputation, with the vision to provide a space for local people to retreat to, where they will find a friendly welcome and an opportunity to give back to the community. Key elements include: quality coffee, delicious healthy food, a calm but welcoming environment, and an eco-friendly, low waste ethos.
The Café is open 5 days a week, 8:30am to 3pm on Tuesday to Friday and 10am to 3pm on Saturdays.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
● Oversee the efficient daily operation of the café, ensuring high standards and excellent customer service.
● Engage customers, take and serve orders, and drive sales.
● Ensure all health & safety and food safety standards are met.
● Maintain a clean, welcoming, and friendly environment for customers.
● Manage stock levels, place supply orders, and handle cash management, including cashing up and reporting till adjustments.
● Develop and maintain a visually inviting space with up-to-date menus and quality food offerings.
● Implement and follow food rotation and waste management procedures to minimise waste and maximise margins.
● Utilise and develop methods that encourage repeat business.
● Secure the café at the end of the shift.
● Ensure all food and drinks served are of the highest quality.
● Achieve and maintain an excellent food standards rating.
● Liaising with the Head of Operations, oversee maintenance and repair of café equipment, ensuring everything is in working order.
Customer Service

Café Development
● Develop seasonal menus and menu items to celebrate calendar events.
● Promote the vision of Matrix through the café.
● Be passionate about the vision of the café.
● Achieve café goals and targets set by the Board of Directors.
● Identify areas for development that will drive the business forward, keeping abreast of new concepts and ideas in the industry.
● Ensure that customers are given an efficient and enjoyable experience and that service and value expectations are consistently exceeded.
● Collaborate with marketing and business development to create promotional strategies, including social media campaigns.
Building and Event Management
● Liaise with the Head of Operations about any building maintenance issues.
● Promote the hireable spaces and arrange events that enhance the café’s offerings.
● Encourage use of the café by local groups such as creatives, book clubs, parents etc.
● Manage café events, ensuring the team sets up the space as required and that the hirers are properly looked after.
● Coordinate with local businesses and community organisations for partnerships and events.
General and Wider Charity Involvement
● Be a proactive part of the wider Matrix team, getting involved in projects that benefit the mission of Matrix, such as fundraising activities or team projects.
● Ensure knowledge of current Matrix projects and their impact.
● Participate in community outreach programmes and initiatives that align with the café’s social enterprise goals.

As Grants & Development Officer you will work closely with the Management Team and be responsible for the successful grants and fundraising activity for core and project-based work, as well as developing new income generation opportunities.
Grants, Fundraising and Other Income Generation:
· Undertake regular prospect research to identify potential funding streams and prioritise opportunities based around local, community, and organisational need.

Purpose of the post
To lead the representation of the VCS Alliance, and wider Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector (VCSE), in strategic meetings across Bradford District and Craven (BD&C). Develop and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders operating at grassroots and strategic levels to ensure Health and Social Care services are being designed and commissioned with representation of the VCSE, in support of our Act as One partnership vision for people to be Happy and Healthy at Home.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key working relationships
- Form a robust network and collaborate with a wide range of partners, across the Act as One Partnership. Foster strong relationships through effective partnership working, ensuring mutual benefits and successful relationship management.
- Represent the VCSE sector in conversations on Urgent and Emergency Care, High Intensity Use, Intermediate Care, and other strategic meetings as required.
- Ensure that VCSE partners are well represented in all engagement with commissioners and to develop the reputation of the VCSE as partners.
- Actively support the transformation of Enhanced care in the community, intermediate care offer, to support people with the appropriate level of care support and interventions to maximise independence and wellbeing.
- Lead and champion VCSE / community led High Intensity Use approaches and methodology in secondary and primary care across BD&C
Operational
- Responsible for creating an innovative way of developing the reduction in high intensity use of Emergency Departments.
- Manage and facilitate discussions and advise delivery partners as to how best practice might be adopted for future development of services and oversee their delivery.
- Facilitate, coordinate, and chair multi-disciplinary meetings, including managing data flow, to ensure a person centred and holistic approach to care provision.
- Work closely with VCSE partners to facilitate and coordinate the co-design of highly personalised projects that support improved wellbeing and health outcomes, whilst reducing inappropriate contact with health care services and unscheduled care.
- Attend a range of system forums / steering groups that are in support of unmet social needs e.g. homelessness, Mental Health.
- Work with other VCS Alliance staff to ensure links to other relevant programmes across the system.
- Develop and operate monitoring processes that support learning and assess effectiveness of provision.
- Lead on a range of projects to ensure that the outcomes agreed are delivered on time, to quality standards and in a cost-effective manner, adjusting plans as required.
- Determine links to existing projects, identifying interdependencies across projects/functions, potential impacts on wider system/sector, resource requirements and building in contingency, as necessary.
- Work with finance team in preparation of budgets.
- Monitor finance expenditure and outputs relating to programme budget and report to Senior Leadership Team and Board as appropriate.
Information Management
- Present complex information and create briefs about projects in a way that make complex topics easier to understand and are appropriate for the audience.
- Coordinate and share learning of the work with the wider partnership to promote and ensure sustainability.
- Identify patterns, themes and ‘causal factors’ which trigger relapse behaviours in order to shape future commissioning of service and/or demand/capacity planning.
- Draft reports summarising status on issues, outcomes, and provide progress/highlight reports to ICB, including highlighting exceptions and risks ensuring mitigating action can be taken to keep programmes on track.
- Maintain a risk register and ensure actions are in place to mitigate unacceptable levels of risk.
Impact and Insight
- Plan, develop and evaluate methods and processes for gathering, analysing, interpreting, and presenting data and information.
- Collate as required, qualitative and quantitative information and lead appropriate analysis to develop robust business cases.

Purpose of the Post
To lead insight and impact of the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector across Bradford District and Craven, including developing and managing the Impact and Insight function for the VCS Alliance. To ensure the work of the VCSE sector is founded on good insight and that the impact can be presented clearly to wide range of audiences across the Bradford District and Craven Health and Care Partnership system. You will work in partnership with data and intelligence colleagues in Public Health and the NHS, promoting equitable outcomes for all community members.
Duties and Responsibilities
- To lead, on behalf of the VCSE sector, and in collaboration with system partners, the development of a shared set of metrics to measure the impact of the sector’s work, particularly in taking pressure off front line health and care services.
- Lead the development and implementation of an approach to demonstrate the impact of the work of VCS partners and their contribution to reducing inequalities.
- Work in collaboration with other voluntary sector infrastructure partners and their data and insight leads to help develop a joined up and collaborative approach to impact and insights across and on behalf of the VCSE sector.
- Develop, maintain and manage good relationships with a broad range of partners including, Local Authority, NHS partners, VCSE partners.
- Gather local, national, and international insight and learning to help inform investment decisions and the evolution of the VCS Alliance and its delivery partners’ work.
- Provide insight and learning for VCS Alliance staff, and VCSE advocates across the health and care system, to help them inform, advocate, influence and/or inspire.
- Present insights to a wide range of audiences, which includes senior leaders from different sectors, for a range of purposes including informing, advocating, influencing, and inspiring.
- To work in collaboration with system partners, including ICB and public health staff, to access relevant data that be translated into insight required to demonstrate impact of the VCSA and its delivery partners and wider VCSE organisations.
- Support the monitoring, learning, evaluation of programmes for the VCS Alliance and its delivery partners.
- Produce regular reports which help demonstrate the impact and learning of the work of the VCS Alliance and its delivery partners.
- Support the continued development of insight collection methods across a variety of projects.

Role Purpose

International Field Officer - various locations overseas (January 2025 start date)

The mission of the HALO Trust is: “To lead the effort to save lives and restore livelihoods for those affected by conflict”. HALO clears landmines, disposes of explosive ordnance including IEDs, and is involved in weapon control.
When you become a Field Officer in HALO, you join a team with a shared commitment to making a difference in some of the most vulnerable communities in the world. HALO offers a full training package for the role of Field Officer, and you do not require previous knowledge of landmine clearance or ordnance disposal.

HALO’s Field Officers work across our programmes in various roles and with early responsibilities. You will need the aptitude to be able to function in dynamic and challenging environments and you should have demonstrable management and leadership skills.
HALO’s training will prepare you for deployment to one of our programmes where you could be leading between 250 and 1,000 local employees. On the Field Officer course you will receive technical training in mine clearance, basic explosive ordnance disposal and minefield survey. You will cover HALO’s finance, logistics, security and quality management systems. Once deployed to a programme, in addition to operational field work you will be involved in equipment auditing and maintenance, overseeing repair of vehicles, and writing reports and proposals.
Working for HALO is rewarding, but it is also physically and mentally demanding. Living and operating in remote locations in basic conditions can be wearing. You will be away from home for months on end. HALO Field Officers must be flexible and be willing to be posted to any of HALO's programmes.

Spectra’s current founder and CEO is stepping down from the role after some twelve years as leader, and the Board is looking to recruit a new CEO with the energy, drive and enthusiasm to take Spectra to the next level.
