We seek an experienced, hands-on and strategic Head of Finance to build and lead Global Dialogue’s finance function, ensuring efficient and compliant management of our finances, while helping to shape robust and effective systems and processes to ensure our work is delivered to the highest standards of good practice in the charity sector.

Hours: This role is full-time (35 hours/week) although we’d be happy to discuss an appointment at 80% (28 hours/week). We are open to negotiating a working pattern that works for the successful candidate and for Global Dialogue.

Salary: This role has been benchmarked at a UK salary of £67,000 (pro rata for a part-time position).

Overview

To date, Global Dialogue’s finances has been overseen by an external accountancy firm. Over the last eighteen months, we have been working towards bringing our finance function in house. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced accountant to take the reins and complete the development and roll out of our internal finance function.

The Head of Finance is a new role within the organisation that is both strategic and handson. In the first phase, the postholder will be required to roll up their sleeves and, with the support of Global Dialogue’s Finance Officer, get stuck into the detail of financial administration, including overseeing twice monthly pay runs, monthly and quarterly closes, and other day-to-day financial management tasks. Alongside this, the role will lead on bringing the finance function fully in house, eventually taking on full responsibility for the preparation of management and statutory accounts, cashflow and FX management, and budgeting and forecasting processes. This role will play a key coaching role for the Finance Officer, with a view to eventually delegating all bookkeeping tasks. The postholder will also be responsible for ensuring finance systems are innovative, robust and fit for purpose, and will be a business partner to our hosted programmes, providing advice on compliance and strategic matters.

Global Dialogue’s role as an international fiscal host means that we have a complex financial model, receive income from diverse streams and manage a high number of restricted funds. Our programmes lead cutting edge work, which means that our work is varied and fastpaced, requiring frequent innovation. The Organisation

Action on Disability (AoD), founded in 1979, is one of London’s leading Deaf and Disabled People’s Organisations. AoD’s Welfare Benefits Service

The Welfare Benefits Service provides free independent advice and assistance to all disabled residents and their carers who live and work in Hammersmith and Fulham borough. The service is for all ages, including parents and carers of disabled children.

We provide free advice and assistance, up to and including Tribunal level, on all Department for Work & Pensions (DWP) benefits, Tax Credits, and some local authority benefits.

Welfare Benefits Advisor will

• Provide high quality Welfare Benefits advice and casework and, as appropriate, representation at the 1st Tier Tribunals for disabled individuals of the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.
• Write Mandatory Reconsideration requests and in a limited number of cases, write appeal submissions.
• Undertake direct welfare advice and casework.
• Maintain appropriate records of work undertaken using an appropriate electronic Welfare Benefits Recording and Information System via AoD’s Charity Log, and through the use of Excel
• Gather information to monitor and evaluate the service.
• Assist with funding applications / tender bids by providing basic factual information to Fund Raising Manager/CEO/Managers to enable them to apply for funding and also enable them to write funding/tender applications.
• Contribute to Welfare Benefits related publicity material, social media, reports for the Board of Trustees and other stakeholders and other documents as required.
• This post requires travel to different locations, e.g. for home visits.

About the Job 

The Director of Farm Programmes Quality and Partnerships is responsible for all aspects of quality programme implementation at Better Cotton small holders countries including development of programme designs and strategies, programme 

The incumbent is responsible for ensuring development of high quality, evidence based, high impact, innovative programmes that deliver immediate and lasting changes in the small holders farming communities Better Cotton works in. S/he is responsible to ensure the compliance with technical standards in programme design and implementation. Primary (but not exclusively) this role will focus on programmes in China, Pakistan, India, Mozambique and other small holders’ countries. 

In addition, the Director of Farm Programmes Quality and Partnerships will lead the global partnerships team and will be responsible for setting up Partnership Management Standards, supporting capacity of teams in project cycle management and supporting Better Cotton’s network of partners to ensure that their programme delivery is of high quality and integrity.

Responsibilities 

In addition to actively participating in the relevant leadership fora and providing a role model for colleagues to follow in their interactions with internal and external stakeholders in line with Better Cotton’s ethos and values, the specific responsibilities of the role are:

Programme Quality and Management

• Accountability for quality and progressive improvement of Better Cotton global programme delivery.
• Support country teams to develop country programme strategies, programme designs and operating plans, including annual plans and budgeting.
• Ensure globally coherent programme design by supporting in-country programme teams, in collaboration with other teams/functions such as: assurance, monitoring & evaluation, and supply chain. 
• Review structure and strengthen capacity of country programme teams to carry out a range of activities to deliver the Better Cotton Standard System, in collaboration with in country or regional leadership
• Strengthen capacity of country programme teams in project cycle management.
• Ensure good practices of project cycle management are consistently adhered to.

Partnerships 

• Develop, test and roll out Better Cotton’s Partnership Management Guidelines with relevant tools.
• Coordinate with internal grant funding team to ensure global Partnership Management Guidelines meet all programme and project needs of Better Cotton.
• Ensure application of Partnership Management Guidelines and other partnership guidelines by all partners. 
• Oversee quality programme partnerships to deliver our work at the farm.
• Working closely with country teams to ensure we work with high quality partners who aligned with Better Cotton direction of travel and with a shared commitment to a progressive system for farmers and credible delivery against our Standards.
• Support the country teams to develop and implement partnership mechanisms that facilitate sector funding of new country programmes 
• Support management of country teams and programme partners to produce credible funding proposals to Better Cotton funding programme
• Ensure that an appropriately robust and effective programme partnership and due diligence framework is being used to drive excellence and impactful programme delivery. 
• Oversee implementing of learnings from the complaint’s mechanism related to programme partners.
• Proactively build relationships with a wide range of external stakeholders

Team Leadership 

• Build a cohesive team spirit and culture among staff and delegate responsibilities to them, while ensuring achievement of programme objectives.
• Lead, mentor and build capacity of global partnership staff and in country programme staff in a way that creates a working atmosphere conducive to professional growth and development of excellence at all levels.
• Matrix management of in country capacity strengthening leads, as needed
• Maintain effective and positive internal communication with Better Cotton staff in country offices, this includes ensuring open and harmonious communication with different departments, offices, and programs.

• Promote accountability, communicate expectations and provide constructive feedback informally and formally via regular one on ones and performance reviews.

Fundraising 

• Actively support proposal development, budgets and pitch decks to support the delivery of fundraising targets.
• Ensure quality end to end management of fundraising and grants implemented by country teams
• Support the country teams to work in collaboration with the Fundraising Team to secure funding for new country programmes and to deliver subsequent grant-funded activities in line with donor requirements and expectations. 
• Ensure forecasts are done of scenarios for different funding models and geographical balance of funds. 

Finance & Compliance Management  

• Ensure compliance and transparent use of resources in compliance with Better Cotton or donors’ regulations.
• Monitor adherence to grant agreements, Better Cotton’s policies and procedures and relevant external rules and regulations.
• As part of the senior management team, work within operations systems for programme impact including finance, procurement, people & culture.
• Work relevant team members on proper budget management, including forecasting and procurement planning.

Desirable

• Experience in managing programmes in India, Pakistan, Mali, Mozambique
• French, Urdu or Hindi language fluency

Essential Requirements:

• Recognised accountancy qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).

• Proficiency in accounting software (ideally Xero), with strong Excel skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Demonstrable experience in producing management accounts, interpreting financial data for both expert and non-expert audiences.
• Experience of managing external audits and collaborating with auditors.
• Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise, multitask, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a virtual team, with excellent self-direction and initiative.

Role Overview

As a member of the Supporter Engagement Team no two days will be the same. You will be essential in helping us improve the lives of those living with Crohn's and Colitis by offering fantastic supporter service and ensuring our members and fundraisers feel valued and keen to continue to support!

The Supporter Engagement Officer plays a pivotal role in achieving this. By taking a lead in the day to day management of the income processing and membership arm of the team ensuring all income is processed quickly and accurately and supporters are thanked efficiently.

About You

You will have experience of working in a similar role, providing a high standard of customer care in a fast-paced environment, handling supporter queries and providing information in a concise and comprehensive manner.

You will be experienced in supervising staff or volunteers and be an effective and approachable networker with a proved track record of building excellent relations with all stakeholders, using high levels of tact and sensitivity when needed.

You'll need strong written and verbal skills and the ability to adapt your style depending on the audience. You'll also be effective at managing challenging situations and competing priorities.

You will have the ability to manage a busy workload and deadlines whilst taking ownership of problems to find a solution where possible, escalating to a manager where required. 

You will also have experience of working with databases to produce reports and insights, as well as the managing the handling of cash and finance processes.

Experience of Microsoft office is essential, as well as high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic social researcher to join our fantastic Surrey Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) team.

Based with Good Company, a local anti-poverty charity, the Community Researcher role would design and conduct research on wider determinants of health (e.g., poverty, food insecurity) and their impacts on health inequalities, with a particular focus on co-production and other forms of participatory research. The wider determinants of health are a diverse range of social, economic and environmental factors which influence people’s mental and physical health. Systematic variation in these factors constitutes social inequality, an important driver of the health inequalities.

In addition, this role would seek to increase the capacity of local voluntary sector organisations to carry out their own participatory research, as well as supporting the HDRC programme team in promoting participatory research methods across Surrey and building the local evidence base on the wider determinants of health.

There will be a second Community Researcher post based with Reigate & Banstead Council which will focus on building the participatory research capacity within the local authority.

About Surrey Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC):

This role would form part of the new and innovative Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) programme funded by the National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR). The Surrey HDRC programme is delivered by Surrey County Council,  University of Surrey (UoS), alongside local partners Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, Good Company and Surrey Minority Ethnic Forum (SMEF).

Surrey HDRC is designed to boost the capacity of Surrey County Council to do research, together with our communities, with the aim of improving health outcomes and reducing health inequalities in Surrey communities. Surrey HDRC will develop a sustainable research culture, build research capacity and capability, and increase our local evidence-base on wider determinants of health.

About this role:

The post holder will be based at Good Company and will work as part of the Surrey HDRC programme team, leading on participatory research and co-production. The role includes:

· Developing a programme of research on wider determinants of health inequalities, with a particular focus on co-production and other forms of participatory research.

· Strengthening the participatory and co-production research capacity across Surrey, with a particular focus on the Voluntary, Community, Faith, and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector.

The post holder should have demonstrable skills in qualitative research methods, including experience of conducting participatory research. The Football Foundation are partnering exclusively with Robertson Bell in their search for a permanent Head of Finance. The Football Foundation are the Premier League, The FA and the Governments charity that helps communities improve their local football facilities through football grants.

The Head of Finance will lead the finance team, ensuring robust financial management and sustainability to support our charitable objectives. With responsibility for a team of five you will lead and provide statutory, financial and management accounting, including all financial planning and analysis, for the Football Foundation (Foundation) and the Premier League Stadium Fund.

The role:

• Develop and implement financial strategies that support the organisation’s visions e.g. treasury management, developing long term cashflow strategies to maximise returns to the organisation.
• Lead and work with the SMT, Management Group, PMO Lead, and Data & Insight team to create and maintain financial and cost models to support the development and finalisation of strategic plans, budgets, and forecasts, focusing on the relationship between services, resources, and productivity.
• Work with the CFO in preparing and presenting the consolidated budget and plan to the SMT and ARG Committee.
• Develop high level models to support strategic and operational decision making, e.g. assessment of financial sustainability of grant applications and monthly reporting to funders in line with contractual obligations.
• Continue the development and transitioning of the finance team from a mainly transactional team to a team providing forwarding looking information. Enhance collaborative decision making through improved business partnering and transparent reporting.
• Ensure all legal entities comply with relevant legislation and prepare statutory accounts, corporation tax, VAT, Charity Commission, and other statutory financial returns as appropriate. 
• Lead and manage the finance team, motivating and developing them so that that they are clearly focused, competent, and work effectively and efficiently.

• Strong presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and interpret complex issues at Board level, and to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organisation including experience of working with non-executives.

• Strong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and develop team members.
