Job Title: Head of Maintenance and Estates

Location: Central Office based in Islington, N1 1TY (approx. 10 minute walk from Highbury and Islington station). About the role

Reporting to the Director of Housing, we are looking for a Head of Maintenance and Estates to lead on the effective delivery of an efficient and customer focused maintenance and estate service across our properties within SIG. Managing a small team, you will focus on management and leadership activities to empower staff to achieve high quality results in the service. You will take oversight of the Maintenance and Estates function, to ensure the smooth running of upkeep and repair operations, working with various teams internally and externally to build sustainable working relationships.

You will have overall responsibility for ensuring policies and processes are up to date and that the way the function is run has continuous improvement. You will lead with creating and implementing a strategic plan, supporting with short to medium to long term objectives. You will work to ensure properties and estates are kept safe, to required standards and lead the team towards achieving the SIG ‘Good Homes’ standard.

About you

We are looking for someone who has extensive experience in managing similar repairs and estates services and who is able to lead a team to be empowered to provide a high-quality service. You will be able to to develop and implement maintenance plans, strategies, and procedures, and have confidence to take ownership of your department, making key decisions.

• Management and leadership experience, including with direct line of reports and indirect
• Experience in developing and implementing formal maintenance plans, strategies, and procedures with a key eye to detail
• Experience in directing and delivering customer service functions, ideally in a repairs and maintenance or cleaning context

About the role

We’re looking for a qualified Management Accountant with management accounting experience to join our Finance team.

This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate reporting of the charity’s income earned each month and to support in the forecasting of income for inclusion in the annual budgets and regular re-forecasts.

The role holder will provide explanations of variances to budget and/or forecast.

The role holder will work with the Income Operations, Income Generation and Finance teams to ensure processes around income are sufficiently robust to ensure the accurate reporting of income in the monthly management accounts and the minimisation of work to reconcile income received in the bank with income reported in the income statement.

The role holder will play an integral role in the successful implementation of the new finance system. Ensuring that the opportunities the new technology offers are integrated and that stakeholders see a noted difference in the reporting and analysis they receive from Finance.

What will I be doing?

No two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. Here are some of the main things you’ll be doing, but you’ll find more details in the job description.

• Work with the two Finance Business Partners and wider Finance team, in the preparation of monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts.
• Responsible for ensuring the accurate reporting of income in the monthly management accounts and in the annual report and accounts.
• Work closely with the Income Operations team in particular to ensure income is appropriately recorded in CARE (CRM system) and subsequently in Business Central (the new finance system).
• Preparation of templates used for budgets and forecasts and completion of budgets, as directed by the Finance Business Partner.
• Maintain KPIs each month, flagging trends identified which indicate risks and opportunities to budgets and forecasts to the Finance Business Partner and wider Finance team.
• Modelling of income and income scenarios to support project work and business cases.
• Build strong relationships within Finance and work with colleagues to promote and ensure positive collaboration across departments.

What do I need? 

The key skills we’re looking for in this role are:

• CCAB Qualified Accountant
• Experience of management accounting and the preparation of monthly management accounts.

About The Role
You will be working in a collaborative, fast-paced and creative environment and will play a key role within our Engagement Team to strengthen Youth Music’s relationships with individual givers. This role will focus on engaging individuals to support our mission, managing relationships with community supporters, and delivering strategies to enhance community fundraising and individual giving.

About You

You are a motivated and relationship-driven individual who is passionate about music and making a difference. You will have a strong ability to engage, motivate and influence prospective and existing individual givers, a strategic mindset for fundraising and supporter engagement, and excellent stewardship skills. Your ability to build lasting relationships with our donors and community fundraisers will be key to your success in this role.

Key Responsibilities 

• Create and execute a strategic plan for growing community fundraising and individual giving, and monitor and evaluate the impact of this.
• Take ownership of Youth Music’s guestlist donation initiative, securing gigs to add an optional donation in aid of Youth Music.
• Support the Philanthropy Lead in cultivating major donor relationships and co-investment opportunities with charitable trusts and foundations. 
• Support the Ambassador & Supporter Engagement Manager and Philanthropy Lead with administration of onboarding Youth Music advocates and Change Makers.
• Lead on the administration and organisation of community fundraising events/activities. You will support challenge event participants with their fundraising by liaising with them before and after events, ensuring they feel prepared and have the Youth Music resources they require.
• Work with the Communications Team to make the most of the exciting communications opportunities that exist in the run-up to, during and after fundraising activities and events - including helping to collect, create and distribute photos, videos, news stories, interviews and social media posts.
• Lead on Gifts in Wills and Legacy Giving.
• Manage our fundraising reconciliation, carefully producing donation reports and logging donor information on Salesforce.

Other roles will include supporting the Engagement team with an array of day-to-day tasks such as:

• Provide supporter care; taking and responding to supporter enquiries via phone, email or post.
• Work on securing gifts, raffle prizes and other sponsorship to elevate community events and fundraisers.
• Manage the fundraising enquiries inbox and be the first point of contact for receiving donations and giving advice on how to fundraise for Youth Music.
• Contribute to Youth Music’s media channels to promote and support campaigns and events.
• Update Salesforce with accurate information about all donations and fundraising activities, and support others in its training and use. 
• Ensure that all fundraising processes are compliant with GDPR regulations and Fundraising Regulator practice.

ARC Blackburn (ARC), an established local charity, has recently been commissioned by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council to deliver an asylum seeker integration programme for newly arrived asylum seekers in the borough. The purpose of the role is to work with new and existing partner organisations as well as existing staff, volunteers, and service users to deliver the programme.

This role requires an experienced individual who will encourage clients’ engagement in the community by welcoming, supporting, signposting, running social activities, connecting communities and supporting organisations, organising events and trips, and engaging with clients who require additional social engagement support. The Partnerships and Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for measuring the impact and outcomes of all small activities and events using surveys, questionnaires and focus groups.

The other strand to the coordinator role will be to support local asylum seeker and refugee support hubs in the delivery of both formal and informal learning of English and Digital skills.  Enabling access to these learning opportunities is vital to our clients’ resettlement and integration in the UK and local environment.

To be successful in the role, you will have relevant experience in community engagement and/or building partnerships in the charity sector. You will have proven experience in delivering activities and events that focus on community connection and co-creation, thus improving community integration and reducing social isolation.  You will need to have excellent communication skills and be able to motivate and inspire diverse groups of people. You must also have excellent IT skills, with the ability to report on quantitative and qualitative data. Experience of using a case management system is preferred.

Programme

METRO work closely with our partner Spectra to deliver sexual health services in the London Boroughs of Wandsworth, Richmond, Merton and Kingston. In these Boroughs, METRO deliver the Come Correct free condom scheme (C-card), the National Chlamydia Screening Programme (NCSP) as well as Get It, an online scheme which offers condoms, lube, Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea screens.

METRO also delivers training and education, aimed at both young people and professionals working with young people, as well as community outreach and engagement to reach young people directly- particularly those who are most vulnerable to sexual ill health.

Every 6 minutes someone learns that they are losing their sight. Every five hours, a baby is born with sight problems. In these moments, two profound questions emerge:

• Can this be stopped?

• How do I (or my child) live this life?

The merger of Fight for Sight and Vision Foundation on 1st April 2023 has enabled us to address both questions. By combining our strengths and expertise we are now the only significant national funder with the efficiency, capability, and capacity to increase investment in medical research and social improvement. Together we can mitigate both the prevalence and impact of sight loss.

We have a clear ambition, led by our CEO, Keith Valentine, who has valuable lived experience of sight loss. We’ve secured well-respected and highly engaged ambassadors and patrons, from Sir John Major and Marsha De Cordova MP.

We are looking for a driven, committed, and creative individual to join our dynamic team as we devise and launch a new five-year strategy. You’ll be part of something impactful and a key support within the fundraising team.

The Fundraising Assistant will play a crucial role in the future growth of our charity and the impact that we can achieve through partnerships for people with sight loss.  You will be a key part of a growing fundraising team providing support across the team.

Role Responsibilities:

Individual Giving 

• Support the Individual Giving Manager with day-to-day communications with our donor base, including timely database administration to capture communication preferences and personal details. 

• Support the Database Manager with data and financial processes, including recording and batching donations, generating reports, contributing to supporter journeys and reconciling income. 

• Undertake research into new projects and areas of fundraising and highlight areas of potential opportunities to raise income and ensure continuous supporter engagement. 

• Liaise with design and print suppliers to deliver appeals and other campaigns. 

• Support the Individual Giving team in-person in the office, with the processing of direct marketing appeal responses, including banking of donations and sending thank you letters.

• Work with the Individual Giving Managers to implement supporter journeys to encourage further support to the organisation. 

Events and Community 

• Use a CRM database to effectively administer and manage event and community activities. 

• To be an ambassador at all events, supporting the delivery of our vision and ensuring that the charity’s profile and reputation are enhanced. 

• Work with the Events and Community team to send out literature and parcels to community groups and event participants in an efficient and timely manner. 

• Researching and sourcing event materials and fulfilling event packs when required.

• Support with logistics for virtual and in-person events as required. 

Wider fundraising  

• Answering inbound calls as part of the head office call team, at least two days per week, and responding to or triaging enquiries to be resolved in a timely manner.

• Working with suppliers to help design, proof and order new and replacement fundraising materials (fundraising packs, t-shirts, collecting boxes etc) as necessary.  

• Act as the first point of contact for external enquiries and manage internal post, including sorting incoming post and organising outgoing fundraising post from head office. 

• Work with the Communications team to ensure social media posts and other promotion opportunities are carefully planned and well executed.
• Work alongside the high value team Partnerships Assistant on key events and appeal tasks when required.

• Provide general administration support across the fundraising team as required. 

• Contribute to the overall fundraising strategy as a member of the Fundraising team. Share learnings and points of interest in team meetings, as well as work-based updates.

• To work in compliance with the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Practice and data protection legislation.

Purpose of Post:

The Marketing & Communications Officer will be responsible for the administration and co-ordination of consistent marketing and communications messages and activities, promotions, exhibitions, PR campaigns, social media, digital/website content, uphold brand integrity, which enhances and grows the reputation and awareness of IMO Charity.

The Marketing and Communications Officer will play a key role in supporting the Business Development Manager to manage the ‘public face’ of IMO Charity. It is expected that the Marketing & Communications Officer will contribute strategically and creatively about how to promote the organisations services and activities to engage all members and stakeholders, offering inventive ideas for creating captivating marketing content and the drive to deliver it with a flair for language, keeping up-to-date with changes in the social media and attention to detail.  

The Marketing & Communications Officer will work closely with the staff, supporting them to develop and deliver communication plans, in line with meeting the overall strategic objectives of the organisation.

A prime area of responsibility will be to work with the Business Development Manager and other team members in delivering contractual obligations and impact reporting associated with marketing and communications across all projects.

The officer will support the IMO Charity team by inputting and contributing towards the activities and development of tenders, grant applications, market research, membership support, data analysis, events and any other activities required to achieve IMO Charity marketing objectives.

About the oppurtunity:
You will help drive the quality and impact of our key stage 2 (KS2) and key stage 4 (KS4) maths tutoring programmes through subject-specific training of volunteer tutors, and by advising and supporting our (mostly) non-teaching staff members who manage these volunteer tutors day to day.

You will also observe and give feedback to volunteer tutors delivering maths tuition, and deliver general training for new volunteers, so that they are confident and effective in taking part in our tutoring programmes.

Specific responsibilities relating to the role:

Supporting the delivery of our maths curriculum: 

• Design and deliver online maths-focused training for volunteer tutors so that subject knowledge is secure within the tutor community.
• Provide advice and support, including some direct tutor communications, on subject-specific matters for Action Tutoring staff who manage volunteer tutors.
• Maintain existing tutoring GCSE and KS2 maths curriculum resources to ensure volunteer tutors have high quality materials to use in sessions.
• Support Action Tutoring’s Programme Department to provide and respond to requests for additional materials for tutoring sessions, particularly maths sessions.
• Support with creation of additional maths resources on an ad hoc basis as required, applying Action Tutoring’s pedagogical approach and standards for diversity, equity and inclusion.
• Format any newly generated maths curriculum content for printing.
• Reformat maths curriculum resources for online delivery of tutoring sessions.
• Engage in learning and development opportunities in order to keep knowledge about the expectations set out in the maths national curriculum (KS2 and KS4) and the main exam boards up to date.

Quality assuring tutoring delivery:

• Observe several virtual tutoring sessions a week. Make detailed and unbiased notes on tutor skills, craft empathetic constructive feedback in emails.
• Support our programme delivery team to craft communications and feedback to tutors.
• Produce ‘quality tips’ and resources for tutors and staff.
• Work with Action Tutoring’s volunteer engagement team to feedback trends so that the quality assurance process at the tutor application stage is as strong as possible.

Delivering volunteer tutor training:

• Support the Training Manager by delivering up to four virtual initial tutor training sessions a week during peak months, presenting Action Tutoring’s established training content.
• Support the Training Manager by contributing updates to tutor training content.
• Create content for tutor CPD materials to support with maths tutoring.

Qualifications criteria: 

• Qualified secondary school teacher of Mathematics
• At least two year’s teaching experience in English state schools with an understanding of the barriers facing disadvantaged pupils
