What’s the role?
As a Volunteering Services Officer, you’ll play a vital role in maximizing the impact of our 650-strong volunteer workforce while enjoying a supportive and values-driven workplace. You will:
- Lead the training and induction process for new volunteers.
- Collaborate with teams to create an outstanding volunteer experience.
- Support volunteer managers to strengthen volunteer engagement practices.

About the role
We are delighted to have received three-year funding from the Aviva Foundation to fund this brand-new Grants Officer role based in London.
You’ll be part of our Programmes team supporting kinship carers in London to access grants which will help reduce financial stress. This could be grants to buy things like white goods and uniforms or accessing Buttle grants to support children growing up in kinship care.
As Grants Officer you’ll talk to kinship carers, discuss their needs, their priorities and then write charitable grant applications on their and their family’s behalf.
You will oversee and deliver the grants process, including co-ordinating the purchase of items (such as children’s clothes, beds or washing machines), collecting receipts for items as required by the funders and liaising with all teams to ensure timely receipt of funds within the charity and to the kinship carers.
Building relationships with funders is core, sharing the impact of the grants and insight about the lives of kinship families in London. You’ll work closely with Programmes, Peer Support, Training and Advice colleagues who work with kinship families in London.
You will also create and run online and face-to-face workshops and clinics, helping kinship carers to understand how to apply for other grants, thereby encouraging resilience and confidence to apply for grants themselves.
You will be a proactive and persuasive relationship builder, able to create partnerships with a range of organisations and peer support groups that support kinship families.
You’ll build trusting and respectful relationships with kinship carers who you will work one-to-one with in community settings. And you’ll build relationships with a range of grant giving organisations across London.
We’re looking for someone who can really deliver impact and demonstrate how embedding this role into the community helps to unlock funding and support for kinship carers at a local level.
The type of person we’re looking for
Kinship carers are at the heart of all we do. This role could be the difference between a kinship carer being able to dress their child for school properly, being able to buy a fridge, take a first holiday to the seaside… or going without.
We are looking for someone who is really organised and who is able to capture and present information clearly in a persuasive grant application. The successful applicant will be compassionate, empathetic, and organised. We are looking for someone who understands the needs of kinship families.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering our new grants service across London.
- Meeting performance targets and KPIs as directed.
- Working with kinship carers and their families across London to gather information to complete and submit grant applications.
- Administering grants we secure for our kinship carers and carry out all the necessary administration related to grants.
- Undertaking research to identify funders and build excellent relationships with local grant making charities in order to increase support for kinship families.
- Delivering grant workshops at peer support groups sharing information about locally available grants and providing advice and support on making a successful application.
- Running face-to-face grant clinics within peer support groups or community venues in London, working directly with kinship carers to write and submit requests for grants.
Essential criteria includes:
- Experience of speaking to vulnerable people on the telephone, face-to-face and online, and gathering information with empathy and understanding.
- Experience of working with socially excluded or marginalised people and their families in face-to-face and community settings.
- Experience of running online and face-to-face workshops.
- An understanding of budgeting, managing money, income and expenditure.
- Proven understanding of the importance of confidentiality and a non-judgmental approach.
- Evidence of awareness of safeguarding issues and good practice.
- Experience of organising and prioritising a busy workload without close supervision.
- Proven clear understanding of the need to keep grants records and communication with kinship carers and funders up to date.
- Excellent research and writing skills.

But they lack resources and funding is fragile, especially in the Global South and East. About the Role
Fundraising and philanthropic advocacy are at the heart of GiveOut’s work. As Senior Philanthropy Officer, you will be a key member of the Philanthropy team, implementing a vital part of our philanthropy programme as we deliver our growth strategy.
You will identify, engage, cultivate and steward major donors (high net worth individuals) and charitable foundations to secure high value gifts and grants, grow long term strategic relationships in support of the LGBTQI movement, grow GiveOut's network, and provide a top quality donor experience.
Working closely with the Head of Philanthropy, you will support them on shaping and executing strategy and work planning, coordinating the donor database and leading on related internal processes, and deputising for the Head externally.
We are open to full time or part time (pro rata) at a minimum of 24 hours, or equivalent to 3 days per week. We are also open to flexible working arrangements to be discussed. Occasional evenings or weekends out of hours will be required, such as for networking or GiveOut hosted events, for which time off in lieu will be granted.

Essential Skills and Experience

Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme is the UK’s biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. For 11 years, it has been transforming the way the nation thinks, acts and talks about the condition through volunteer led Dementia Friends Sessions and tailored resources for organisations. The programme supports individuals and organisations to understand more about dementia and inspires them to take meaningful action to bring help and hope to everyone affected by dementia.
This varied role is all about engaging volunteers, organisations and other internal and external stakeholders with this flagship programme. The role will work across a specified region to recruit, engage, train and support Dementia Friends Ambassadors (DFAs) volunteers. It will support development of new learning resources for programme routes and work with teams across Alzheimer’s Society to support them to use to all programme routes to build relationships and deliver impact.
Most importantly, this role will give you the opportunity to really make a difference for people affected by dementia by raising the awareness of small steps that everyone can take to make the world a better place for them. You will be inspiring behaviour change at all levels!
About you
We are looking for an empathetic and organised volunteer manager who loves to engage and inspire people. You will have experience of managing volunteers, developing resources and delivering training to a wide range of stakeholders both virtually and in person. You will be a confident influencer who is happy to work on multiple things at once.
The Dementia Friends Engagement Officer will work closely with teams across the Society to ensure that the Dementia Friends Programme is integrated into all of the work that Alzheimer’s Society does and is seen as a force for change. You’ll be a great relationship builder, whose passion is delivering excellent stewardship and who’s skilled at supporting and influencing multiple stakeholders. You’ll have excellent project management and IT skills including using all Microsoft packages and experience of using databases to record and report on data.
You will be part of a geographically dispersed team of Dementia Friends Engagement Officers, which sits in the wider Dementia Friends team and supports colleagues across the organisation. You’ll be expected to work autonomously to deliver within your region, but you’ll also have the opportunity to work collaboratively within the team and across the organisation on key projects.
The role will be primarily home based but you will need to be able to travel across your region. There may be some occasions where you need to travel outside of your region. As the role is home based, this role requires access to your own reliable internet connection and a minimum 10Mb/s broadband. For our home-working employees, we currently offer a home-working allowance of £26 pounds a month (full-time).
The role may involve some evening and weekend work to enable ongoing support of volunteers, so flexibility is essential.

Purpose of Post:
The Marketing & Communications Officer will be responsible for the administration and co-ordination of consistent marketing and communications messages and activities, promotions, exhibitions, PR campaigns, social media, digital/website content, uphold brand integrity, which enhances and grows the reputation and awareness of IMO Charity.
The Marketing and Communications Officer will play a key role in supporting the Business Development Manager to manage the ‘public face’ of IMO Charity. The Administrators wish to appoint a Secretary and Chief Executive Officer to assist them in the management of the Fund’s affairs and the strategic development and operational oversight of its two Cemeteries.
This is a part-time position (three days per week, with flexible hours to be agreed) offering a salary of £30,000 - £36,000 per annum (£50,000-£60,000 pro rata). The role is well-suited to remote working, with regular visits to the cemeteries required.

About the Secular Clergy Common Fund
The Fund was established around 1701 and is a charity providing grants to support sick and retired Catholic priests in the South-East of England, who are the members of the Fund. The Fund also looks after two Victorian Catholic cemeteries in London. The six Administrators of the Fund are elected by the members and act as Trustees of the charity.
Key Responsibilities
1. To provide leadership for and line management of the Fund and its cemeteries, in line with strategies and policies developed in partnership with the Administrators.
2. Together with the Chief Administrator, to enable the Administrators to fulfil their duties and responsibilities for the proper governance of the charity and to ensure that they receive timely advice and appropriate information on all relevant matters.
3. To administer the grant making and membership activities of the Secular Clergy Common fund, in line with the rules of the Fund and in the light of the decisions of the Administrators.
Key Tasks
1. Governance
· To act as the clerk and executive officer for the Administrators of the Fund.
o To clerk meetings of the Administrators (3 or 4 per year).
o Liaison with Auditors, Investment Managers, Bankers, Solicitors, Health and Safety Adviser, Charity Commission, Companies House, HMRC, and others as directed or agreed with the Administrators.
o To report significant matters in a timely manner to the Chief Administrator.
· To assist the Administrators in review of their operational and strategic risks and the implementation and monitoring of measures arising from this.
· To advise the Administrators on the strategic development of the charity.
· To ensure that the charity fulfils all its legal, statutory and regulatory responsibilities
o To periodically review the charity’s arrangements for Employment, GDPR and Health and Safety other significant areas and present recommendations to the Administrators to bring them up to date.
2. Secular Clergy Common Fund (‘The Fund’)
· To maintain records of members, including correspondence for admission of new members and receipt of subscriptions.
· To liaise with the Administrators for the making of grants.
· To make payments of grants and other dues on behalf of the Fund.
· To receive donations and legacies on behalf of the Administrators.
· To maintain financial records for the Fund
o Including of investment portfolio transactions as advised by Investment Managers (HSBC Private Bank).
· To arrange the AGM and dinner.
3. St Mary’s & St Patrick’s Cemeteries
· To act as line manager for the two cemeteries and work closely with the Cemetery Manager.
· To assist the Administrators in developing a medium- to long-term strategy for the cemeteries.
· To manage the strategic development of the cemeteries as financially sustainable ‘places of rest and hope, comfort to the living, signs of their hope for unending life’.
· To assist the Cemetery Manager in development of action plans for the cemeteries, agree them with the Administrators and support their implementation.
· To ensure that all policies and procedures for the cemeteries are up to date and compliant with all relevant areas of legislation and regulation, and reflective of good practice, reviewing and developing them as appropriate and agreeing key policies with the Administrators.
· To assist with accounting and finance for the cemeteries, possibly including accounting, payments and payroll.
· To address issues concerning the cemeteries which the Cemetery Manager has been unable to resolve.
Person Specification.
The post-holder should be able to:

Since 2011 Disability Africa has developed a model using playschemes as hubs to deliver essential lifesaving services to extremely vulnerable disabled children and to end their exclusion in low-income African communities. Using this model, we have worked with project partners in Kenya, The Gambia, Sierra Leone and Zambia. 680 disabled children have now attended our projects more than 90,000 times since 2011. Now the charity is planning to grow and expand with our 5-year plan (‘DA2029’) to replicate the Disability Africa Model to reach more disabled children across Africa.
By 2029 we will:
• Start work with at least 4 new partners in Africa (as well as expected growth at our existing projects).
• Deliver 160,000 attendances by at least 1,500 disabled children in 7 African countries.
• Grow and reach as many disabled children as possible - we know we can’t do it all by ourselves - so we will engage other international NGOs to adopt our model of inclusion.

Recently our members voted to create a new u3a Council to act as a conduit between the national body and the over 1000 independent u3as throughout the UK. The new Council will be the vehicle by which members’ views and priorities will feed into and shape the overall work of the u3a national body.
The Council Officer will support the implementation and running of the new u3a Council and play an integral role in embedding the Council into the existing structures of the Trust. They will work with the CEO and the Council Chair to ensure the Council has the support and resources it requires. The role will bring external ideas into the movement by identifying research, reports and speakers that might help inform its work. The officer will also prepare reports, agendas, minutes and be responsible for the general administration of the council and its working groups.
The role would suit someone with an interest in community engagement and participation or policy and research in these areas. The right candidate will be able to work flexibly across a range of responsibilities and develop and implement ways of working as the Council develops, whilst having the ability to work with and manage a large group of volunteer's wide range of views and opinions.
