Head of Finance

We are looking for a Head of Finance, in this is a newly created post, following a period of review within Finance and Systems. Set within an innovative, young-person centred charity and the wider network, this role is ideal for an individual who is an experienced charity accountant and loves improving finance systems and processes, with a desire to lead an enthusiastic Finance Team.

This is a permanent role offering hybrid working.

Position: Head of Finance

Location: Hybrid working: two days a week in either the Bolton or London offices (based in White City) combined with home-working and travel across our Youth Zone network as required.

Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent 

Hours: Full time – 37.5 hours per week

About the Role

We are looking for someone who has the ambition to strive for the very best in all areas of finance, who is able to drive innovative systems developments and inspire others to adopt new ways of working, across a growing network of youth charities. 

We are looking for an individual who has sound technical knowledge of current accounting regulations, combined with the ability to communicate financial information to a wide variety of people, some with no financial background and others who are experienced professionals. 

As a growing and ambitious charity, you will have responsibility, variety and the chance to work with a team wholly invested in providing young people the opportunity to fulfil their potential.

About You

You will have accounting experience at management level within a charity setting and full working knowledge of preparing management accounts, budget setting and forecasting.

You will also have significant experience of the maintenance and administration of financial and reporting systems including identifying improvements to processes and managing system updates.  Knowledge of Sage and Xero software, Excel and other appropriate financial packages are essential.

Conversant with the requirements of SORP 2015, and other relevant legislation, when preparing charity accounts (training can be provided), you will have experience in annual audits, within either a company or charity setting (guidance can be provided).

The Purpose of the Role

The Mass Market team’s mission is to inspire the UK public to financially support the IRC in order to help people impacted by conflict and disaster. The main purpose of this role is to support the Senior Acquisition Marketing Manager and the Acquisition team to generate long-term sustainable growth and maximising net unrestricted revenue.

As the Acquisition Marketing Executive, you will play a key role in delivering Acquisition activities across a range of products and channels, with the key objective of acquiring new supporters and growing income. You will work across a range of digital and offline channels, with a focus on digital cash and value exchange. You will also support on new product, channel and audience development, all whilst ensuring all activity is in line with our supporter’s needs and expectations.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Programme execution and development (60%)

• Support the Senior Acquisition Marketing Executive and the Senior Acquisition Marketing Manager in delivering the Acquisition strategy
• In conjunction with the Senior Acquisition Marketing Executive, plan, implement and report on revenue and non-revenue activities across digital and offline channels for cash, regular giving, lead generation, value exchange and mid-level products
• Ensure all activity is completed within agreed schedule and budget  
• Identify and develop opportunities for optimisation and innovation within the acquisition programme
• Deliver emergency appeals, including as a member of the Disasters Emergency Committee, ensuring speed to market and maximum revenue during activation
• Develop or enhance campaign processes, ensuring partner teams and suppliers are consulted
• Work collaboratively with Communications and Digital Engagement teams to maximise fundraising opportunities

Planning and reporting (20%)

• Accurately track and report on campaign KPIs and make suggestions to maximise ROI and achieve budgeted income target
• Prepare for and contribute to regular campaign optimisation meetings and quarterly / annual planning sessions, ensuring all work is in line with UK Mass Markets strategic objectives 
• Work closely with counterparts in Retention to share information and plans, and ensure that plans are aligned across the teams
• Accurately track income and expenditure, feeding into the team’s monthly financial reporting 

Insight, analysis and data management (10%)

• Create detailed end of campaign reports and ensure all relevant information is documented and used to inform future activity
• Work closely with the Analytics team to ensure all activity, including audience targeting and testing, is insight driven
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current GDPR legislation and ensure all acquisition activity is compliant

Overall Purpose

The Head of Development & Engagement will support CancerCare to meet its agreed strategic aim and objectives of delivering services that provide appropriate, flexible and compassionate support to local people whose lives are affected by cancer, bereavement and other life shortening conditions. You will develop the client services function for adults, children and young people delivering an effective and efficient service as well as researching and evaluating developmental opportunities to ensure our services remain sustainable.

You will be a crucial member of the Executive Leadership Team and will work closely with members of the Board of Trustees.

Main areas of responsibility

· Be the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the organisation.

· Ensure safeguarding concerns are logged and acted upon and complete all documentation for safeguarding compliance and governance.

· Lead and provide direction to the high performing engagement and youth teams fostering a collaborative and productive environment.

· Ensure organisational and local commissioning outcomes are achieved.

· Identify and support relevant training needs within your team ensuring continuous professional development for staff.

· Review and evaluate current services, pilots and other projects as appropriate.

Networking and development

· Research and progress service development.

· Support the Chief Executive and Trustee Board in developing the services of the charity in line with its strategic aims, supporting with clinical data as needed.

· Represent CancerCare at external meetings including the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust and others regarding cancer, bereavement and children and young people’s services (CYPS).

· Build and establish partnerships for the benefit of CancerCare.

· Network with other service providers to hold an overview of local service provision and understand any potential impact.

· Ensure CancerCare is able to facilitate a forum for people with lived experience of cancer.

· Develop, expand and maintain an effective CYPS peer support group and look for funding opportunities to support this work.

· Hold overall responsibility for the provision and care of the peer support groups.

General

· Support the grant and trust fundraisers to apply for funding and ensure grant funding is spent in accordance with grant agreements and feedback is provided in a timely way.

· Prepare presentations, proposals, plans and reports as necessary for the Board of Trustees / Executive leadership Team (ELT).

· Work with the ELT and Trustee Board to produce budgets and financial reports as appropriate.

Fleet Administrator

Part Time - 21 hours per week (over 5 days)

About the role:

This is a newly created part time role following a period of growth. The Fleet Administrator will be responsible for the efficient administration of the fleet to ensure that Rainbow Trust vehicles are managed effectively, accurate records are maintained, and costs are minimised, working closely with suppliers to ensure the smooth running of the fleet with minimal disruption.

The Fleet Administrator will form a vital part of the Finance and Operations Team supporting the Facilities & IT Manager in the management of the Rainbow Trust fleet. Rainbow Trust operates a fleet of approximately seventy vehicles situated across our nine regional teams. It is vitally important that our Family Support Workers have a reliable vehicle for attending family visits and transporting families to hospital. In addition, the Fleet Administrator will be required to assist the Facilities and IT manager with ad-hoc tasks/projects according to the workload.

Full training will be provided and previous experience of managing a fleet is not required, although is desirable. A good level of maths, excellent communication, planning and Microsoft Excel skills are required to be successful in this role.

This is an excellent opportunity to maintain a breadth of fleet administrator experience with increased responsibility.

About the role

The Head of Fundraising at InFocus is our senior fundraiser. They report to the Director of Income Generation and Business Development (IGBD) who has a varied portfolio that also includes marketing and communications, catering, charity retail, and strategic partnerships. This means that you will be part of a wider team (and all the support that comes with it), but will still have overall responsibility for setting the direction of our fundraising activity.
This appointment comes at a time when we need to consolidate our existing unrestricted fundraising activities and look towards preparing a substantial capital campaign to develop our site.
Our charity receives a large amount of statutory funding and has a relatively small pool of regular supporters and donors. It’s essential that the Head of Fundraising can take a strategic approach to growing income, but particularly through researching and writing quality applications to charitable trusts and foundations (which has typically made up a large part of our fundraising mix).
A Fundraising Relationship Officer is in post and is managed by the Head of Fundraising. They will need to be supported to make sure that we continue to grow our emerging individual, community and corporate fundraising streams. 

About you

You will have practical experience in trusts and foundations, and be prepared to step into a leadership role in a small but friendly team. You’ll need to be a confident communicator with donors and supporters, as well as a diverse staff team spread across our large campus at the edge of Exeter (and six charity retail stores).
You will be confident in balancing strategic planning with practical tasks (which will include preparing materials and applications to trusts and foundations).
You may already have leadership experience, or you may be stepping up into a more senior role for the first time. Either way, you will have the support of the Director IGBD, CEO and colleagues from across the InFocus team.

The Evidence and Impact Officer will play a key role in improving Become’s approach to monitoring and evaluation, strengthening our research and evidence base, and ensuring that our policy influencing and service development is underpinned by robust evidence. This role will be part of the Policy, Campaigns and Communications department, but will work closely with colleagues in the Services department and across the organisation to deliver impact. We are looking for someone who is motivated, analytical, is passionate about improving the lives of care-experienced young people, and has a good understanding of research methods and data analysis.

Role Purpose

The purpose of this role is to support people who have significant mental health issues and those from diverse ethnic backgrounds who may face barriers in accessing physical health checks. The role will provide longer term support in some cases, so people can address some of the barriers which might be in the way for them to consider their physical health positively. The roles will provide a service across Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow. The role will be delivered within Primary Care and therefore you will be expected to build relationships within those settings and with community VCSE organisations to ensure that the service supports people within their own communities.

• Hammersmith and Fulham service

Key Responsibilities 

• Get to know and build relationships with staff within Primary Care to enable a supportive and productive referral route into and out of the service
• Work within communities and Primary Care to find out what services are available for people to access
• Build relationships with staff in Primary Care, VSCE organisations, local communities that don't access services and local community mental health teams
• Build relationships with those who are accessing the service and work in a person-centered way to find out their needs. Particularly working to engage people from diverse ethnic backgrounds
• Build an accessible route into the service for people which will lead to an increase in physical health checks and longer-term support if needed
• Be inclusive and make reasonable adjustments where necessary i.e interpreters, Easy Read literature, disability accessible buildings for meetings etc.
• Conduct basic physical health checks following robust training from health professionals 
• Support people in connecting to other services both VCSE and Primary Care
• Alert Primary Care staff and the local authority/mental health teams if there are any concerns that have not already been identified
• Signpost and refer clients to other services during and after the intervention 
• Promote health education and the service across the borough

MAIN TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Membership engagement

• Manage and build relationships with prospective, new and existing EIDA members.
• Manage the member experience, including responding to queries from prospective and existing members, acknowledging receipt of new member forms and overseeing follow up contact with new and existing members.
• Identify key trends, gaps and topics, as well as opportunities for cross-pollination and member introductions.
• Support the Head of Membership & Engagement to respond to EIDA’s Beacon and Strategic Partner members, assessing their needs and generating plans to improve their membership experience.
• Support the planning and implementation of EIDA events, including coordinating and delivering EIDA’s Lunch and Learn sessions with members.
• Working with the Communications and Engagement Coordinator, ensure the membership receive regular, up to date, engaging information on domestic abuse as it relates to employers, including via newsletters, social media and ensuring the website is up to date.

Membership growth

• Drive membership growth; proactively identify and develop projects for member recruitment, promoting EIDA to prospective and lapsed members.
• Develop opportunities to widen our membership market for example through industry-based forums, groups, conferences and fairs, trade unions, health & wellbeing and diversity & inclusion communities.

Partnership development

• Develop a good understanding of the national and regional landscape of domestic abuse support available to employers, to signpost members effectively to appropriate partners.
• Formalise partnerships with new and existing members, including conducting due diligence and putting in place partnership agreements.
• Attend events to develop new contacts and seek new opportunities for EIDA to engage in.

Data and systems

• Oversee membership information on EIDA’s database, generating reports on interactions and statistics.
• Perform membership analysis and reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain routine data cleansing, to ensure member and partner data is accurate, complete and up to date, ensuring all data is handled in line with GDPR.
• Support the team to keep accurate membership engagement records on the CRM system.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

Essential

• Good academic performance in English and Maths
