About the role

Post Title: Youth Violence Intervention

Practitioner Hours: 37.5 hours per week, with regular evening and weekend shifts required. Shifts will be scheduled to ensure team cover from 7:30 am to 9:00 pm daily.

Location: Onsite, St Mary’s Hospital, London. With regular travel to other Redthread sites and offices when required.

Salary: £29,767.50 per annum + benefits

• To be part of the youth work team at Redthread, with a primary focus on the Youth Violence Intervention Programme.

Based within the Wiltshire Domestic Abuse Service, the IDVA team works within a multi-agency system to provide a proactive, person-centered independent service for victims of domestic abuse, empowering choice through informed decision making.

This is a temporary 3 month position, however this post is likely to be extended.

Key elements of the role include:

• Providing priority support to service users.
• Risk assessing and helping to keep service users safe through safety planning.
• Enabling victims to access statutory and other services.
• Engaging with and supporting the MARAC process, to ensure that the voice of victims is heard.
• Managing a caseload of high-risk victims and working proactively to support them and their families.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide a high-quality service to those at the highest risk.
• To provide practical and emotional support to service users, working jointly with them to carry out, implement and review needs assessments and support plans.
• To understand and work effectively within a multi-agency framework, consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse, in order to reduce the risk for service users and their families.
• Identify and assess the risks and needs of service users using an evidence-based risk identification checklist.
• Work with high-risk service users to help them access services, to keep them and their children safe.
• Advocate for high-risk service users with agencies who can help to address the domestic abuse.
• Understanding the role of all relevant statutory and non-statutory services available to service users and how your role fits into them.
• Providing information to service users in relation to legal options, housing, health and finance.
• Working directly with all key agency partners to address the safety of high risk service users and ensuring that their safety plans are coordinated particularly through the MARAC.
• Manage a case load ensuring each person receives the appropriate support, tailored to their needs.
• Support the empowerment of the service user - assisting people to recognise the features and dynamics of domestic abuse present in their situation, and help them regain control of their lives.

• To recognise, respect and address the needs of service users who face barriers when seeking help to access the service, including those from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, LGBTQ+ communities, disabled people, those with complex needs and other groups which services have found difficult to reach.
• Provide practical and emotional support in relation to criminal and civil remedies, housing, health, education, employment, welfare benefits, counselling, legal aid and children’s support.
• Accompany service users, when needed, to other relevant agencies and support them in their interactions with these agencies.
• To work alongside colleagues to deliver a whole family approach.
• Be proactive with your line manager to carry out periodic case reviews.
• Respect and value the diversity of the community in which the services work in, and recognise the needs and concerns of a diverse range of survivors ensuring the service is accessible to all.

The Communications Department at Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) informs, inspires and engages the public about dementia and the progress being made in research. This role sits within the Corporate Communications team, which forms one of several specialist teams in the wider Department.

The Corporate Communications Officer will be responsible for producing high-quality and compelling communications to raise the profile of the charity’s flagship fundraising initiatives.

The postholder will also support Alzheimer’s Research UK’s own corporate communications function, and with the development and delivery of other strategic communications initiatives.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

· Work with the Corporate Communications Manager to plan and implement communications projects and programmes, working through multiple channels including media, social media, web articles, video and staff newsletters.

· Prepare, write, issue, and promote press releases about the charity’s strategic and corporate activities, highlighting the charity's expertise, sharing insights from spokespeople and ambassadors, and emphasising our key messages.

· Identify opportunities to work with the media to sharetell Alzheimer’s Research UK's story, highlighting the charity's expertise, key messages, and insights from spokespeople and ambassadors. This includes proactively pitching media stories and issuing press releases.

· Establish and develop valuable and productive relationships with journalists; respond promptly to queries, including occasional out-of-hours queries.

· Monitor relevant media coverage; keep up to date with social, scientific and charitable sector issues which could benefit, or have relevance to, Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK).

· Develop effective relationships with teams across Alzheimer's Research UK’s Fundraising & Marketing (F&M) Directorate, in order to identify and deliver on communications needs.

· Proactively work with the Corporate Communications Manager, and relevant teams across F&M, to identify additional communications opportunities.

· Seek additional ways to tell ARUK’s corporate story, including our fundraising work, through the traditional media and social media, including ARUK’s news and views site.

· Liaise with ARUK spokespeople, the public, scientists, journalists, freelancers, ARUK colleagues, Trustees, Patrons, other charities and organisations, IT and other support agencies as appropriate.

· Attend and/or organise appropriate meetings and events – these will require some travel and occasional unsociable hours.

· Ensure activities comply with ARUK’s branding and style guide.

What we are looking for:

· Experience working in the PR (or similar) sector.

· Experience of working with the media.

· Experience of supporting or co-ordinating partnership working.

· Experience of delivering communications programmes through a variety of media (e.g. press, social media, email, events).

· Ability to communicate appropriately with people affected by dementia and to translate scientific work for lay people; knowledge of dementia and/or science is advantageous, but not a requirement.

· Confidence working with computers; knowledge of Microsoft office packages and databases, good keyboard skills.

· Excellent organisational skills; the ability to manage a large number of tasks with internal and external stakeholders to multiple deadlines.

Additional Information:

Ways of working: As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

The Head of Development will lead on the development and delivery of fundraising and income generation (including trusts, foundations, statutory contracts, corporate partners and individuals) to secure five and six figure gifts for OETC. ​​

The Latin American Women’s Rights Service (LAWRS) is a human rights, feminist organisation led by and for Latin American migrant women in the UK. Our work is dedicated to supporting the immediate and long-term needs of Latin American migrant women exposed to violations of their fundamental human rights; facing violence against women and girls, exploitation or trafficking; enduring difficult living and working conditions in low paid jobs, and facing barriers to social protection. Around 2,000 women use our services every year, benefitting from practical and emotional support, learning new skills and improving their own opportunities. We strive to provide essential tools for women to empower themselves in their pursuit of personal and social change.

LAWRS’ Generalist Advice service provides information, advice, casework, advocacy and support to Latin American migrant women in the areas of housing, welfare benefits, money, employment rights and immigration.

The Generalist Advice Caseworker will have an excellent command of English and Portuguese and will join the Generalist Advice Team and be responsible for undertaking a caseload of service users, providing free, confidential, one-to-one information, advice, casework and advocacy for Latin American women in the areas of housing, welfare benefits, money, employment rights and immigration, according to their expertise. 

The post holder is responsible for ensuring adherence to the Advice Quality Standards.

The Grants Officer will work in the Grants Team as part of the wider Development Department, to manage a portfolio of grants that fund the organisation’s work.

ClientEarth’s Development Department is responsible for raising and managing funds to enable the organisation to deliver its mission – using the power of the law to bring about systemic change that protects the earth for – and with – its inhabitants. The department is formed of several fundraising strands: a Grants Team and a Business Development Team that manage and secure funding from trusts, foundations, and institutional donors; and a Philanthropy Team, working with a wide range of individuals and organisations to raise primarily unrestricted gifts to support ClientEarth’s work. 

Main Duties

• Funding portfolio management - Have a close and in-depth knowledge of their grants portfolio, including a sound understanding of the philanthropic, institutional and statutory funding mix;
• Internal and external communications - Meet with Trust, Foundation and Institution portfolio managers to discuss proposals, provide updates on the programmatic work, and to formally report back on financial, organisational and technical issues; 
• Project management - Effectively manage reporting and the grant renewal process from start to completion including working with multiple teams across ClientEarth’s European and international offices to ensure input from all avenues to complete proposals and reports in a timely and high-quality manner; and 
• Financial planning and budget handling - Work with Finance and Programmes staff to develop individual budgets for funding proposals
• Systems and processes - Maintain funder database systems (Raiser’s Edge) and other organisational databases (SharePoint) on a daily basis

Role requirements

• Experience of working in a grant management or project management role for a charity, NGO, private or public entity
• Experience of reporting to private foundations including trusts
• Experience drafting proposals and securing funding from foundations and other funding institutions
• Experience and knowledge of budgeting, and organisational (e.g. not for profit/charity) finances
