Senior Housing & Welfare Advice Worker’s post

The Manna Day Centre is a drop-in Centre for homeless and vulnerably housed single men and women. It is run by a team of project workers, under the Director, who are responsible for its smooth operation. Basic Services offered include food, showers, clothing, housing & welfare advice, medical care, and access to laptops. The Centre opens to service users 7 days a week, 8.30am– 1.30pm. The working week for this post is Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 4.00pm each day.

The Senior Housing & Welfare Advice Worker must have a commitment to homeless people, which includes acceptance and respect. Responsibilities are shared among the team according to needs, skills and aptitudes. The annual salary is negotiable (depending on your experience) ranging from £33,775 to £41,359. The role will provide effective governance organising and facilitating Trust Council and committee meetings. As Business Administrator within the People, Culture and Resources (PCR) Team, the role will provide office support, answering telephone calls, emails, handling correspondence and maintaining records. Also, the role will implement techniques and processes to enhance productivity and efficiency.

Responsibility 1: Lead on providing expertise on a comprehensive governance service

1. Acting as secretary to the Trusts Council, sub committees and Sales Board.
2. Providing logistical and administrative support to the CEO, Directors, Chair and Trustees.
3. Supporting the chair to set dates of council meetings, produce Council agendas in liaison with the CEO, Chair & Committee Chairs and ensuring accurate minutes are taken, approved, and circulated in a timely manner.
4. Working autonomously maintaining the governance archive for Council and overseeing full governance archive on SharePoint.
5. Maintaining live files and records at Companies House.
6. Acting as secretary to the Nominations Committee including maintaining the register of trustee and honorary officer terms of office and managing the process of nominating, recruiting and inducting Trustees.
7. Assisting with the production of high-quality papers and presentation materials and developing solutions to complex issues.
8. Fixing dates, orchestrate agendas, papers and minutes for Council meetings and carry out chasing actions as required using your excellent communication and negotiation skills.
9. Organising and facilitating Trustee inductions.
10. Regular and structured reviewing of governance documents, policies, processes, and terms of reference, keeping abreast of developments in governance legislation & best practice.
11. Maintaining and updating the SWT Governance Handbook and ensuring legal compliance.

Responsibility 2: Provide a comprehensive administrative and clerical support to the People, Culture and Resources Team to support the smooth running of the office.

1. Overseeing the PCR team administrative support functions.
2. Handling communications:  Greeting clients, answering incoming calls, replying to emails and dealing with both incoming and outgoing post.
3. Organising schedules: Scheduling meetings, appointments and events, and organising any necessary materials for them.
4. Maintaining office equipment:  Operating and maintaining equipment such as photocopier and franking machine.
5. Supporting staff: providing administrative support to colleagues with occasional administrative work on PCR projects.
6. Keeping track of inventory and ordering office supplies such as first aid equipment, coffee and tea and other items.
7. Using spreadsheets for budget evidencing and monitoring purposes – (credit card transactions & Amazon purchasing).

Responsibility 3: Utilising your strong commitment to customer service, provide a first-class customer service for the organisation and its stakeholders, ensuring that every customer is completely satisfied with their customer experience

1. Ensuring that all telephone, face to face and written enquiries are responded to promptly and dealt with in an efficient manner.
2. Answering customer queries, responding to questions from incoming correspondence.
3. Resolving complaints by liaising with relevant teams to ensure customer satisfaction and ensure regular contact with both internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
4. Keeping accurate records of customer interactions including a complaints log.
5. Providing information to stakeholders to answer questions and queries.
6. Escalating issues referring any complex issues to Heads or Team managers when necessary.

About Borderlands fundraising: So far Borderlands’ grant fundraising work has been led by a freelance fundraiser working 3-4 days a month (“Grants and Trusts Fundraiser” in the organisational chart). Currently, most of our income is from grants; our key funders include the Henry Smith Charity, Garfield Weston Foundation, John James Foundation, Bristol Impact Fund and Nisbet Trust. The Role

Staffordshire Wildlife Trust had an income of £4.7m in year ending March 2024, and this has grown again in the last 12 months. To push ahead with the Trust’s vital work to restore the natural environment across Staffordshire, and to meet the strategic goals by 2030, the Trust needs to increase its revenue substantially.

You’ll be leading a dedicated fundraising and communications team currently made up of 10 staff but set to grow. This position is a new one, and one of the key recommendations of a fundraising research assignment conducted at the end of 2024. 

The Head of Fundraising and Development will report to the Chief Executive and be a member of the Senior Leadership Team. 

Key tasks include:

• Develop and implement a five-year fundraising strategy

• Develop a fundraising culture across the Trust 

• Co-develop bottom-up, evidence-led income forecasts with your team and relevant Senior Leadership Team members

• Take overall responsibility for all fundraising

• Oversee the exploration of new income generating opportunities 

• Oversee the management of all fundraising systems/processes (fundraising database and financial information)

About You

The Head of Fundraising and Development role is a unique opportunity for an ambitious and innovative fundraising professional to develop and deliver a comprehensive fundraising strategy. You will be an effective leader, comfortable delegating authority in areas where you have less expertise to the experts in your team.

An inspiring leader, you will have exceptional people management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.  You should be willing to work flexibly as your team requires it, this may involve working at events outside of normal hours to support your team.

You will have experience of:

Responsibilities

• Collaborative Strategy Execution: Works closely with the UK Managing Director, incorporating programmatic priorities for developing key funding partnerships, to align and execute the trusts and foundations fundraising strategy.
• Strategic Growth & Income Diversification: Supports the development of and executes a growth strategy to increase trust and foundation income, leveraging both existing and new opportunities, including institutional fundraising and government funding where relevant.
• Prospecting & Pipeline Development: Proactively identifies, researches, and cultivates new trust and foundation prospects to expand the current portfolio and drive significant new revenue growth in alignment with fundraising targets.
• Relationship Management & Stewardship: Establishes, nurtures, and manages strong relationships with trust and foundation donors, ensuring tailored engagement, timely reporting, and strategic alignment with donor priorities to maximize long-term support.
• Proposal & Fund Development: Leads the development and submission of compelling funding proposals to generate revenue, while ensuring collaboration with the global proposal development enablement function for high-value (£100k+) opportunities. Edits concepts, proposals, pitch decks and stewardships materials. 
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Works closely with WBR’s global Development & Marcomm and proposal development team to source insights, data, and programmatic information that strengthen proposals and enhance donor engagement, ensuring UK efforts align with international fundraising strategies.

Role summary

As Senior Manager for Humberside Women’s Centres you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing our centres and contract delivery in Humberside. Working closely with the Director of Services and supported by a senior key worker your focus will be on providing high quality, trauma-responsive support to women with experience of, or at risk of entering the criminal justice system.

You will lead on managing and delivering our contracts across Humberside to ensure our operational and strategic objectives are met. You will also focus on building excellent relationships with funders and key partners and identifying new partnership and advocacy opportunities.

Supported by a Senior Key Worker, your responsibilities will encompass the day-to-day management of our Women's Centres and contract delivery partners across various locations, including our Hull Women’s Centre, our Hubs in Goole, Beverley, and Bridlington, as well as partnerships in Grimsby and Scunthorpe. 

Managing a team of Key Workers, you will be responsible for ensuring women and girls receive an exceptional service from within a safe, trauma-responsive, women-only spaces. Working alongside our statutory and non-statutory partners in Criminal Justice and Health and Social Care, you will ensure the continued strategic development of the Women’s Centre and represent Together Women at local and regional level.

Your responsibilities will also include identifying and pursuing new funding opportunities, and ensuring the continuity of existing services through effective contract management. As a forward-thinking individual, you will contribute to the wider strategic direction of the organisation as part of the senior management team, which will entail submitting high-quality monitoring reports to funders, line and team management, and contributing to the ongoing development of the vision, mission and values of Together Women.

Key accountabilities

Humberside service delivery

· Provide strategic and operational management for Together Women’s services across Humberside, including our Hull Centre and our Goole, Beverley and Bridlington Hubs.

Financials and reporting

· Manage the operational budget, ensuring services operate within budgets and any variations are identified and reviewed

· Prepare and present accurate, timely reports to internal and external stakeholders as required.

· Identify relevant funding opportunities and prepare funding applications in collaboration with the leadership team, to support long-term sustainability of our services.

· Lead on development, implementation and management of our monitoring and evaluation systems and processes, to evidence the need, reach and impact of our work.
