COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER
Salary of £38,000 to £42,000 p.a. depending on experience
Full time hours of work are 9am to 6pm Monday to Thursday, 9am to 5.30pm Friday

Garden Court North Chambers invites applications for the role of Communications Manager. The applicant will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a communications and/ or marketing role ideally within the legal profession or with relevant experience in the NGO, international organisation, development or charity sector.
The applicant will have demonstrable experience in managing communications including website and social media, in-person and hybrid training and promotional events and media engagement. The applicant will be expected to contribute to, maintain and deliver Chambers’ communications strategy.
Appointment will be subject to Chambers’ usual six-month probationary period.
Job Description
The Communications Manager will work under the direction of the Head of Practice Management (HoPM) within Chambers’ Practice Management Team (PMgT) however the successful applicant will be required to be self-motivating and comfortable operating in the role independently.
Key tasks
· To establish, deliver and maintain a communications strategy for Chambers.
· To manage the promotional activities of Chambers, its Practice Teams, and individual members, by managing and developing:
o Chambers’ website and social media platforms,
o Webinars, podcasts and other digital training methods,
o In-person and hybrid training and promotional events.
· To assist the HoPM by promoting Chambers to professional clients.
· To establish and manage media engagement.
· To manage and promote engagement with legal associations, charities and NGOs.
· To promote Chambers and its members to the legal directories.
· To assist with the development and promotion of campaigns organised or joined by Chambers.
· To undertake internal communication work building a culture of engagement across Chambers.
The above tasks will include:
· Identifying newsworthy cases and issues upon which Chambers may wish to engage, including through liaising closely with members of Chambers and the Practice Management Team (PMgT).
· Working under the direction of the HoPM to assist in the practice development of individual members.
· Engaging barrister members and pupils to produce high quality material for the website and social media, including content production such as webinars, podcasts and vlogs.

o Accessible, attractive and interesting
o Optimised to achieve top search engine ranking,
o Up to date, with members’ pages regularly reviewed, and news items frequently added,
o A source of training materials and information relating to our work and ethos, including webinars, vlogs, blogs and ‘how to’ guides.
· Ensuring a variety of social media platforms are utilised to optimise the footprint of Chambers, and to promote news about Chambers’ cases and other activities as quickly, professionally and as widely as possible.
· Identifying potential new clients to the PMgT and assisting them in the promotion of Chambers.
· Maintaining and developing professional client mailing lists and databases.
· Coordinating, advertising and managing training and promotional events in conjunction with Practice Teams and the PMgT.
· Liaising with outside bodies, including legal associations, charities and NGOs to promote the engagement of members of Chambers and the standing of Chambers as a whole.
· In conjunction with the HoPM and individual members, coordinating and drafting submissions to legal directories.
· Developing and maintaining effective relationships with journalists, media outlets and prominent actors in the human rights field.
· Maintaining and developing promotional material to reflect and promote Chambers’ ethos.
· Assisting with the production of Chambers promotional material, including sophisticated marketing materials by utilising the latest advertising platforms optimised for social media.
· Monitoring, evaluating and reporting on key communications activities, to help refine and improve the strategy.
Person Specification
The individual will have:
· A clear understanding of the ethos of Chambers ensuring Chambers’ communications strategy aligns with the same.
· The ability to successfully progress communications as an independent function of the practice management of Chambers.
· Experience of developing, delivering and maintaining an organisational communications strategy.
· The ability to think creatively and demonstrate a very high level of attention to detail.
· A strong technical understanding of website and social media platform management and content production.
· Experience of using of a range of digital communications for promotion and development.
· Experience of planning remote, in-person and hybrid events from inception to delivery including working with outside agencies.

About the Role
The Business Development & Partnerships Manager – Health (BDPM-H) is part of the International Programs (IP) Team, responsible for developing strategic partnerships and securing funding for health-related programming. About the Team

Responsibilities
- Engage with Canadian civil society and government agencies, focusing on opportunities with GAC, IDRC, GCC, and other relevant donors.
- Promote WAC’s programmatic approaches, emphasizing the role of WASH in health programming, including areas such as RMNCH, SRHR, and public health.
- Develop and maintain a portfolio of strategic partnerships, managing communications and administrative duties.
- Conduct donor mapping and prospect research to align funding opportunities with WAC’s strategic priorities.

Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in international development, global health, WASH, environmental studies, or related field.

- Proven track record of securing multi-year funding from institutional donors like GAC.
- Experience in designing health programming focused on gender equality and SRHR.
- Strong proposal writing skills with experience in developing concept notes and funding applications.
Preferred
- Master’s degree in public health, international development, or a related field.
- Proficiency in both English and French.
- Experience living and working in low- and middle-income countries, particularly in Africa and/or Asia.

Position of Head of Communications

This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join us in the role of Head of Communications. This varied role offers the successful candidate a key position at WFN, leading on setting and implementing WFN’s annual Communications & Engagement Strategy, and supporting on charity and Award winner (grantee) PR. The Head of Communications is responsible for digital communications (including website, e-letters, video and social media), printed publications, and branding. They report to the Director, work in tandem with the Head of Media Relations, and will receive day-to-day support with social media and production of digital and event materials from the Communications Assistant, who they also line manage. They regularly assist in helping organise exciting events, such as our annual Whitley Awards Ceremony as well as timely communications campaigns relevant to the environment sector.
Strong writing ability and an eye for design are required to deliver communications across the charity, including across printed and digital platforms. About The Rufford Foundation
The Rufford Foundation is a grant-making charity that provides funding for nature conservation programmes and projects.
The flagship Rufford Small Grants Programme awards funding to individuals working in developing countries who are starting on the ladder of conservation research and establishing pilot programmes. Since its inception in 1999, the Rufford Small Grants Programme has given over £37 million through more than 6,100 grants to projects in over 150 countries. The programme identifies scientists and practitioners at the early stages of their careers and provides targeted support to enable them to achieve their goal of making a difference in terms of conservation. In 2023, we started to pilot our Organisational Grants funding stream to provide core, multi-year funding to small local NGOs to help them strengthen their financial and institutional capacity to ensure long-term viability.
This is an exciting time to join The Rufford Foundation, as the postholder will play an essential role in encouraging grantees to apply for further funding. This new role will sit within the conservation team to coordinate the delivery and oversight of Rufford Small Grants.
Rufford Small Grants are renowned for being an important milestone in the careers of conservationists and researchers who may have limited experience in designing and delivering projects. We are very aware that unforeseen issues may arise and are considerate towards requests for project changes. The Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Officer will review all project updates and reports to track project changes and to monitor project delivery against proposed plans.
The Rufford Foundation is involved with other conservation donors and practitioners looking at the evidence of conservation effectiveness and supporting learning from success and failure. We fully understand that conservation projects may not succeed as planned and that evaluating small grant project impacts over short timescales (1-3 years) is problematic. The MEL Officer will take this into account when reviewing project progress and evaluation reports.
The ideal candidate will bring previous experience of reviewing (or drafting) donor reports, have excellent analytical and communications skills and be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of biodiversity conservation, ideally with some practical knowledge of conservation in countries where the foundation funds projects. Experience of coordinating work with grantees, including review of workplans, deliverables and budgets, would be highly desirable.
We are keen for the MEL Officer to use their expertise to design a MEL framework to help our grantees with their project proposals, and The Rufford Foundation to evaluate the impact of work across the Rufford Small Grant and Organisational Grant portfolios. The MEL Officer may also support grantees with their own project evaluations.
Principal Responsibilities
Rufford Small Grants
- Review narrative and financial reports for Rufford Small Grant projects, including comparative analysis of results versus original proposals.
- Draft brief summaries of the results of each project, highlighting project changes and outcomes, sharing these with colleagues in writing and at team meetings.
- Compile key achievements delivered through Rufford Small Grant projects.
- Make recommendations for Rufford staff to follow-up with grantees about further Rufford Small Grant funding.
- Work with colleagues to develop reporting guidelines and update our reporting templates.
- Support grantees with understanding and meeting Rufford reporting requirements – this might be done through online or in-person meetings with individuals or groups.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of grant-related activities specifically related to the review of Rufford Small Grant project reports.
- Using background material drafted as part of a recent consultancy, to develop high-level indicators for conservation and capacity building, lead in formalising an evaluation framework for The Rufford Foundation across all grant-making.
- Develop a systematic process to monitor the careers of previous grantees to measure the impact of our funding.
- Produce graphs, tables and short reports on Rufford Small Grants on a regular basis.

- Support with monitoring and evaluation of Organisational Grants including review of annual reports and gauging progress against annual plans.

Experience
- At least 5 years’ experience of working within an environmental or biodiversity conservation NGO.
- Grant-making or project reporting, ideally within the conservation sector.

The Foundation for International Law for the Environment (FILE) was set up in 2018 to be the major philanthropic re-granter scaling up legal action globally to tackle the climate and the biodiversity crises.

The Role
The Grants Coordinator will play a key role within the Grants Team, a growing team at FILE. This role will work closely with the Grants Managers and Heads of Grants across key FILE portfolios to ensure that programmes and partnerships are delivered at pace and to schedule. Whilst initially this is largely an administrative role, it is an opportunity to gain an insight in the workings of an international philanthropic organisation focused on systemic change through partnerships with a variety of outstanding legal strategists and NGO partners.
As Grants Coordinator, you ensure the quality of FILE’s grant-making processes and provide support to the Grants Managers and Heads of Grants during the entire life cycle of a grant. As well as working closely with the Grants Team, you will be working together with all the relevant stakeholders at FILE, i.e., grantee partners and our colleagues in finance, legal strategy, impact & learning and operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Grant administration – support the internal processes of contracting, payment approvals and tracking financial disbursements. Lead on grantee communication regarding payments and reporting.
- Ensure timelines and the approval process for grants and contracts run to schedule, ensuring all relevant information is presented to senior FILE team colleagues and decisions are documented.
- Ensure grant data and documentation is up-to-date and filed appropriately, including input into FILE systems as required.

Role Summary
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a new role for the Charities. The COO will become a key member of the Senior Management Team. The primary role of the successful candidate will be to ensure efficient running of the two charities, to manage major internal projects and to contribute to the overall strategic direction of the two charities.
Job Description
Business Operations/Charity Management
- Working with SMT colleagues and the CEO, help to develop the strategic plans for the charity and be collectively responsible for their successful delivery.
- Contribute to the setting of the charities’ annual budgets and to manage the budgets for their areas of responsibility.
- Develop and manage systems to ensure that consulting work and other paid activities are managed efficiently, ensuring full-cost recovery for such services.
- Deputise for the CEO and/or Secretary during periods of absence.
- Attend board meetings and sub-committee meetings as appropriate.
- Prepare verbal and written updates for the board on key activities in their areas of responsibility.
- In conjunction with the CEO & Secretary arrange board meeting venues and agendas, ensure that the board are provided with all necessary papers for meeting..

Personal Qualities
The candidate must be comfortable with the charities’ approach to animal welfare which includes co-operation with the livestock and slaughter industry, as well as laboratory animal researchers. Whilst both charities promote the highest standards of animal welfare, they do not oppose the use of animals by humans for research or food.
The ideal candidate will enjoy working as part of a small team, but also be confident to take the lead and work unsupervised when necessary. Since many people in the organisation work remotely, they should be comfortable communicating with colleagues using online tools.

In this role, you will drive WaterAid's work to influence UK advocacy targets in Westminster and Whitehall as well as the global targets including the EU, G7/G20 Summits, and multilateral institutions.

Role Purpose
The Director Programmes & Learning (DPL) leads the strategic development, implementation, quality assurance and technical learning for Womankind’s portfolio of partnership programmes including grant making in our focus countries, in line with our organisational strategy - Our Feminist Future.
As a member of the senior management team the DPL works closely with the Director Policy & Communications, Director Fundraising & Marketing and Director Finance & Resources, under the leadership of the co-CEOs to contribute to the overall leadership and strategic direction of the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Strategic leadership
- To work with the leadership team on strategic level policy, planning and systems development in relation to Womankind’s programmes, partnerships, financing, learning and sustainability.
- To lead the development and delivery of an effective feminist partnerships sub- strategy, aligned with organisational strategy.
- Lead the development of and manage the annual budget, and mid-year forecasts for the Programmes & Learning team including oversight of restricted and designated expenditure.
- Engage with Womankind partners in our focus countries to ensure our programmes and grantmaking are grounded in in their realities and contexts.

Essential Experience and Skills
- Established feminist leader with experience of working with women’s rights organisations and feminist movements, human rights and international development networks or coalitions in the UK and internationally, including demonstrable commitment to feminist analysis and practice.

The Purpose of the Role
As Director of Communications, UK, you lead IRC UK’s core communications strategy with the objectives of growing our profile, influencing policy, driving income, and protecting our reputation. This is done by taking a strategic approach to generating effective messaging for cross-team use, creatively collaborating to produce cut-through external products across media and digital channels, and generating top tier media coverage in collaboration with communications, advocacy and fundraising colleagues globally. In this role you will be expected to use expert judgment to manage IRC UK’s reputation, as well as ensure media and digital outputs protect beneficiaries, staff and programming from harm.
The Director will report to the UK Executive Director and the Senior Director of Global Public Affairs. The Director will collaborate closely with the Senior Director for Digital Engagement, UK Advocacy Director, and the Director of UK Mass Markets to meet the organization’s strategic objectives surrounding profile, income and influence.
Scope and Authority
Authority:
· The role holder sets strategic direction for UK communications, with a focus on earned media, public advocacy and organic digital.
· The role oversees the UK comms operational budget, with access to the Global External Relations budget.

The Vacancy
The Programme Development Manager is committed to supporting colleagues and partners in programme design and development. The team also connects programmatic issues and global policy and advocacy to ensure they are complementary and conducive to external change based on evidence from the ground.
Saferworld’s income is secured primarily from statutory and institutional donors; however, securing funding to support our partners in conflict-affected countries and allow for more flexible programming increasingly requires a more diverse funding base. The Programme Development Manager will support efforts to identify and secure funds from statutory donors, trusts and foundations, and other non-traditional funding mechanisms.
The Programme Development Manager will support a portfolio of Saferworld’s teams in designing and mobilising funding for peace, security and justice programmes. The successful applicant will have a focus of approximately 4 countries, which will be decided based on the candidate’s experience and preference. Working closely with Country Managers/Directors, and programme and grant management colleagues, the post-holder will lead on: coordinating and facilitating programme development processes (including taking the lead in drafting high quality concept notes and proposals, theories of change, logical models, risk matrixes and budgets); developing and supporting the implementation of long-term country funding strategies and donor engagement strategies; and supporting new donor engagement and sustaining relationships with current donors. The post-holder will be responsible for growing institutional funding portfolios in our programmes.
The post-holder will have a successful track record in developing programmes and leading new business development efforts with institutional donors such as the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), United States Government (USG)/United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the European Union (EU), UN agencies and European Governments such as Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). Additional experience in mobilising resource from trusts and foundations and other non-traditional funding mechanisms is desirable.

The European Network on Statelessness (ENS) is seeking a Legal Officer (10-month fixed-term contract with potential for extension) to play a key role in enabling us to fulfil our mission to break the cycle of statelessness in Europe and realise everyone’s right to a nationality. There is a possibility of extension beyond the initial contract term, subject to funding availability.
ENS is a civil society alliance of over 180 members in 41 countries. We are dedicated to raising awareness about statelessness, supporting legal and policy development, and building civil society’s capacity to act. At the heart of our work lies the understanding that stateless people and their communities should be leaders of change.

Job summary
CPA UK works on behalf of both Houses of Parliament and the wider CPA to provide resources, support and peer to peer learning for parliamentarians throughout the Commonwealth. CPA UK is headed by a Chief Executive who is Secretary of the CPA UK Branch and Regional Secretary to CPA British Islands and Mediterranean Region. CPA UK is organised into three teams to plan and deliver its work. CPA UK is funded by the Houses of Parliament and leverages additional external funding for strategically aligned projects.
Since 2016, in partnership with the National Audit Office (NAO) and Government Internal Audit Agency (GIAA), CPA UK has been the lead organisation in delivering the UK Overseas Territories Project (UKOTP). Phase I of the Project was a four-year, multi-stakeholder programme supporting good governance and oversight of public finance in the United Kingdom Overseas Territories (OTs). The project offered practical advice and support to international legislators and officials in building the capacity of supreme audit institutions, internal audit units and public accounts committees (PACs) to enable effective public financial oversight. The second phase of the project builds on the successes of Phase I and seeks to address remaining challenges. More ambitious in scope it includes increasingly more work in the area of governance, including on legislative oversight and electoral reform.
The UK Overseas Territories Project is funded by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) under the Overseas Territories and Polar Department’s (OTPD) International Programme. The funding cycle for Phase 1 run from March 2016 until March 2020. The funding for Phase 2 runs from April 2020 to March 2025. Funding will be requested for an additional year to March 2026 with opportunity to plan for a further multiyear project.
Job description
This role sits within the International Partnerships Team at CPA UK. The Strategic Lead for the UKOTP is responsible for and leads the strategic development and implementation of the Project overseeing and coordinating the planning, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of the project. The post holder will also be responsible for managing programme expenditure against budget and reporting to the Head of International Partnerships, CPA UK’s Chief Executive, the FCDO and to a Project Board made of senior stakeholders. The project is currently delivered by a team of 4 staff. With CPA UK as lead Consortium partner, they are responsible for managing the relationship and contributions of the two external partners on the project as well as sustaining and managing relationships with parliamentary, national and international stakeholders. This role requires a high degree of initiative and autonomy and has the responsibility of managing complex relationships with senior project partners and beneficiaries in often sensitive contexts.

Strategic Planning and Programme Management
- Plan, develop and deliver the UKOTP strategic and business planning, seeking advice and guidance from the Chief Executive and Head of International Partnerships at CPA UK, the FCDO Overseas Territories Polar Directorate, other stakeholders and with input from project partners.
- Prepare the annual bid and work-plan for the UKOTP mindful of key deliverables and reporting requirements.
- Develop a Monitoring & Evaluation Framework, monitor and evaluate the UKOTP progress across all areas and all territories in accordance with donor requirements.
- Ensure the project maintains its focus on target territories, key deliverables, and indicators in this complex and high-profile area of work.

- Work with Board Members consisting of senior UK Parliamentarians, a UKOT representative, and relevant stakeholders, as well as with Commonwealth legislatures to ensure the successful delivery and development of the UKOTP.
Communications
- Lead on the development of a communications strategy and the management and production of core project outputs that contribute to project outcomes including events, print materials, social media, media, the OTP newsletter, etc. in close liaison with relevant colleagues.
- Maintain strong communication and partnership with project beneficiaries including Supervisors of Elections, PAC and other Committee Chairs, Committee Clerks, Clerks of Legislatives Assemblies, Heads of Internal and External Audit.
