This role is a core part of Pecan’s senior leadership team (SLT), working to develop strategic direction and playing a play a key role in the organisation’s aim to transform the lives of the most disadvantaged people in our community.
You will enable Pecan’s frontline team to deliver the highest possible standards of service. You will have responsibility for Employment Support, Southwark & Lewisham Women’s Service and Together community projects. This role also oversees Marketing & Communications and Partnerships. It will work closely with the Fundraising Manager and is the Safeguarding Lead and the Equalities Lead

Main Responsibilities:
- To play a significant role in the pastoral care and wellbeing of staff and volunteers ensuring they feel supported and safe at work and have access to wellbeing support
- To develop and deliver services supporting women affected by the criminal justice system and for local women seeking support, information and community.
- To develop and deliver contracted services to enable people to gain employment.
- Expand the offer to reduce isolation and increase community cohesion as well as tackle some of the barriers facing people.
Key Requirements (specific skills, qualifications required):
- Strong experience of managing contracts.
- Experience of managing staff and volunteer teams.
- A strong understanding of the community, employment, women’s or criminal justice sectors.
- Experience of establishing new contracts.

As Physical Activity Lead, you will lead on the implementation of our physical activity programmes focusing on marginalised communities. This work explores how physical activity can support the mental health of people from racialised communities and people facing poverty.
You will manage our existing partnerships with Sporting Equals, Muslim Sports Foundation and England Boxing. Your will also identify and build new partnerships, particularly with organisations who support people from the African and Caribbean Community.
Throughout the role, you will engage people from marginalised communities to inform and influence our work. This will include working with our Lived Experience Advisors who shape our marginalised communities' work.
This post is funded by Sport England and the National Lottery as part of our system partnership. The role is fixed term full time until March 2027.

Key duties and responsibilities
The post holder will:
-Lead the implementation of our physical activity programmes focusing on marginalised communities. This includes reviewing and activating the recommendations from our Audience scoping work around people from racialised communities and people facing poverty.

Ensuring a positive working relationship is developed across both organisations, brokering wider relationships with colleagues in Mind and through our networks, and ensuring partners become sector leaders.
-Identify opportunities and partnerships to support the mental health of marginalised communities, particularly from African and Caribbean communities, through physical activity.
-Provide consultancy support to organisations working with marginalised communities through our Embedding mental health in sport and physical activity: our jigsaw approach subject to capacity and strategic fit. The scope may include, but is not limited to auditing mental health provision, supporting strategy or policy development, providing content for resources or delivering workshops.
-Engage with people from marginalised communities including people from racialised communities and people fighting poverty, to ensure lived experience engagement within our physical activity programme delivery and wider policy work. This includes working with our Lived Experience Advisors to shape our work.
-Lead on the promotion of Mind's Sector Support Universal Offer through developing a promotional plan and coordinating the team's attendance at events and communications to promote resources, working closely with the Physical Activity Coordinator.

The Role
As our Fundraising Manager, you will take on a key role, creating the income we need to undertake our vital work supporting disabled people.
We are looking to further develop and diversify our income streams beyond Trusts and foundation and focus on increasing donations from individuals with an interest in our cause.
Growing our individual supporter base, you will recruit new supporters and build on the excellent foundations laid by our outgoing Community Fundraiser to raise our profile amongst our neighbours.
You will provide outstanding relationship management and donor care to supporters, ensuring they are recognised and thanked for their contribution. Additionally, you will develop and deliver fundraising operational plans, helping to create fundraising materials that encourage and support fundraising potential.
About You
To be considered as our Fundraising Manager, you will need:
- Experience increasing fundraising income from individuals and achieving income targets
- Experience of the effective stewardship of charity donors
- Project planning and management experience
- Experience managing and hitting budgets
- Knowledge of fundraising good practice
- An excellent understanding of donor stewardship and relationship management

Set in a leafy heritage building, and ‘T&T2’, our second venue in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, we offer something for everyone. With a history of 137 years of supporting people of all ages in Rotherhithe and Bermondsey, we bring people together for mutual support, fun and friendship, with a wide range of services and activities for older people and other adults, along with volunteering and children and families’ projects. Since resuming services post-Covid, we have realized the needs and wants of the community have shifted from our previous offer. We have a strong Community Development programme to connect with and rebuild our offer, including some big changes to pre-Covid ways of working. The role
In this role, you’ll be responsible for:
• Strategic development and oversight of community programmes for children, adults and across multiple generations
• Leadership and line management of team; oversight of sessional facilitators and contractors used by team
• Setting programme budget and service targets; monitoring and evaluation to ensure delivery against these
• Playing a key part in building, broadening and developing new funding for these programmes and maintaining relationships with current funders

About you
You have a track record of developing and delivering excellent community programmes in the third sector. You’re a seasoned team leader with experience of change management. You’re flexible, accountable, take responsibility, are highly organised and skilled in multitasking and balancing priorities. You have experience of fundraising and maybe other types of income generation. You have strong relationship building skills – internally and externally - and build trust and credibility easily. We are recruiting a General Advice Officer to support with the delivery of advice and welfare support to guests who access Sufra’s Food Bank, Community Kitchen and the Community Wellbeing Project. The General Advice Officer will support our guests on a range of areas including benefits, immigration, housing, wellbeing, money management and access to training and employment services. The post-holder will provide high quality welfare advice and guidance through weekly one-to-one advice sessions, undertake case work, work with partners to facilitate referrals, and provide support to advice volunteers.
The successful candidate must have at least two years’ experience delivering effective advice in a similar capacity, demonstrate empathy, an understanding of the issues facing vulnerable people, and have in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of welfare benefits with a strong focus on achieving tangible outcomes for our guests.

We do this by working closely with communities, landowners, partners and funders to deliver transformational change in towns and cities across the UK and overseas. We plant trees in schools, streets, estates, parks and open spaces to create nature-rich urban woodland, hedgerows, orchards, avenues and playgrounds.

In addition to leading a small team and overseeing day-to-day financial management, this role will contribute to key initiatives such as enhancing our fund accounting and management reporting, refining project cost modelling, and reviewing finance policies and processes.
