Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. In 2024 we embarked on our new 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.

About the role 

As Senior Communications and Public Affairs Officer (Wales), you will play a crucial role in our work to end homelessness in Wales.

You will create and drive forward a bold communications strategy for Wales, collaborating with colleagues across multiple departments to showcase the depth and breadth of Crisis’ work in Wales with maximal impact.

You will share our passion for equity and for ensuring that the voices of those with lived experience of homelessness are at the heart of our work. 

The successful candidate will have a natural interest in campaigning for positive change and will work closely with our policy team, joining the team at an exciting time as we anticipate proposals for new legislation to better support people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Wales.

About you 

The successful candidate will: 

• Have an excellent working knowledge of the media landscape in Wales.

• A proven track record for designing and delivering impactful communication strategies or substantial experience as a journalist. 

• Be experienced in working with people to share their stories in a positive and meaningful way. 

• Have exceptional communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively with wide-ranging audiences and partners. 

• Have a good understanding of Welsh politics and take a keen interest in campaigning for positive policy change. 

• Be passionate about working as a team to help end homelessness in Wales.

The National Lottery Community Fund is looking for a skilled and proactive Network Engineer to become part of their compact IT Infrastructure Team located in Birmingham. This role will report directly to the Head of IT Infrastructure. Hybrid office working is available, though occasional travel to various UK sites will be required.

As a Network Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing our IT network, ensuring optimal performance, up-to-date security, and reliability.

Responsibilities:

• Be an integral part of the Team and act as the go to person and SME for networking requirements.

Your purpose

To facilitate the Voice 21 approach in Voice 21 Oracy Schools through leading professional development and school improvement programmes, and by designing and delivering high impact learning experiences and materials for teachers and school leaders. 

Your responsibilities

Quality programme delivery

• Lead high quality professional development and school improvement programmes in our Pathway programmes and Open Learning for groups of teachers. These may be delivered in person, online or in school. 

• Deliver transformative consultancy support, working with teachers and school leaders to design and implement bespoke improvement plans for their oracy provision, including through in school and online consultancy support, and one-to-one advice.

• Build credibility and purposeful relationships with programme participants, both at programme days and touchpoints, and on an on-going basis to drive impact in our schools.

• Be responsible for participant learning and experience on your programmes, upholding high standards for all elements such as preparation, adapting to participant needs, content and rigour, on-going interactions and support, and participant feedback.

Learning content & programme development

• Proactively share insights and learning from the programmes you deliver, proposing and shaping solutions to enable Voice 21 to continually improve its programme offer.

• Apply and share expertise through varied outputs such as teaching materials, online learning content, resources, written or video outputs. Proactively identify and respond to opportunities or gaps and fulfil briefs or commissions. 

• Contribute to the continual improvement of Voice 21’s programmes, through development and review cycles, based on first-hand learning from our schools, content expertise, programme insights and external research and evidence. 

Team and organisational contribution

• Act as an ambassador for Voice 21’s national oracy expertise, communicating the value and impact of our approach at conferences, events and through publications.

• Embody and communicate oracy teaching and learning expertise within the organisation, acting as a resource for the wider team and making contributions to organisational priorities, projects, campaigns and events, outputs and publications etc. 

• Continually and proactively develop your own and others’ expertise in Voice 21’s approach to a high quality oracy education, and use this to leverage impact for our schools through tangible learning outputs.

Your experience

• You are an excellent teacher (primary or secondary).

• You are passionate about teaching and learning, and the role of talk in learning. You have used talk to support learning in your classroom.

• You have experience leading whole-school change and inspiring teachers to embrace new approaches and ideas.

• You have a knowledge of a range of speaking and listening techniques and contexts for oracy, these could include: debate, dialogic teaching, storytelling, public speaking or communication and language development. 

• You are a strong communicator both when working in a small team and when facilitating learning for large groups of adults. 

• You are flexible, can think on your feet and can bring your own experiences to the work we do.

• You are highly-organised, look for solutions and can prioritise and manage a varied workload. 

• You are willing to travel nationally on a frequent basis (2-3 days a week) during term time; this will include regular overnight stays.

Key Responsibilities

To work closely with the Evidence & Advocacy Manager (EAM) to develop and implement a series of impactful evidence and research projects that support our advocacy messaging, as well as internal and external learning for inclusive programmes and advisory work. These projects will build on established workstreams alongside developing new ones to maintain and extend CBM UK’s evidence base.

Disability Evidence, Policy Research and Learning

With EAM support the ongoing CBM UK Research and Evidence workstream, through:

1. Translating evidence from our programming countries and projects to produce and contribute to a range of resources to influence FCDO and other stakeholders. Tasks to include managing and maintaining established outputs, such as the CBM UK Project Evidence Briefs and Disability Voices paper series, generating new thematic papers, as well as policy and position papers to enhance effective advocacy submissions, briefing notes, blogs and other messaging on key disability rights issues.

2. Working collaboratively within CBM UK and across CBM Global to help develop and to deliver new policy research, drawing on mixed methods and data sources including national and international databases, using qualitative approaches including participatory or citizen generated data, and new empirical work.

3. Supporting Programme staff to improve impact and learning practice in CBM UK funded projects, provide technical support for the implementation of programme related research and data collection, including MEAL.

4. Providing technical research support into the development of proposals for new grant funded projects, and, where successful, support the management of subsequent research projects.

5. Keeping abreast of new research and publications on key themes and priority concerns within the CBM UK Advocacy and Influencing Strategy, taking into consideration sector trends and developments, and ensure this is disseminated to relevant staff within the CBM UK Team.

6. Keeping watch on UK policy environment and conducting research and analysis to support CBM UK advocacy messaging on disability and human rights.

Dissemination and Communications

1. Maintaining and developing internal knowledge management systems for research and information on disability inclusion and rights, and related areas, to be used by Advocacy, Programmes and Fundraising & Communications teams.

2. Ensuring communication plans are developed with CBM UK and Global Federation colleagues for CBM UK evidence outputs.

3. Maintaining the Advocacy and Influencing pages of the CBM UK website ensuring rights-based communication and focus to support CBM UK and Global campaigns.

4. Liaison with Fundraising & Communications colleagues to amplify media stories, case studies and compelling evidence from country programming for advocacy purposes.

5. Participation in and building good relationships with UK-based disability and development networks, including relevant research networks and membership of the BOND Disability and Development Group.

6. Supporting the professional publication and printing of CBM UK outputs, for dissemination at advocacy engagements and public events.

Other

1. Work with other CBM UK teams to maximise cross fertilisation opportunities and integrated working.

2. Help develop a culture of enthusiasm and success, reflecting the ambitions of CBM. Play an active role across CBM, promoting positive working and innovation. Ensure that the values of CBM UK are understood by external partners and always reflected in communications.

About the NEL VCSE Collaborative

The North East London (NEL) Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) Collaborative works closely with NHS North East London to work together strategically by shaping, improving and delivering services and contributes to the system design and organisational development of the ICB, ensuring Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) contribution.

The leadership group of the seven borough representatives meet monthly and is currently working to develop a VCFSE strategy to raise the profile of the sector and support the VCFSE to work in partnership with the health system to address local health inequalities. • Ensure that the NEL VCSE Collaborative leadership group adheres to the Terms of Reference (ToR) and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in place and membership is fair and reviewed regularly with actions and conflicts of interest appropriately managed

• Ensure the NEL VCSE Collaborative addresses and incorporates relevant legislation, policies and best practice guidance, including equality and diversity

• Work with the Partnerships Development Director to provide and promote system-wide communication through a range of media channels

 Person Specification

• Experience of working with the VCFSE sector at a strategic and senior management level, including championing and advocating on behalf of the VCFSE sector 

• Demonstrate excellent knowledge of VCFSE and healthcare related policies with an understanding of the issues facing the VCFSE at local, regional and national level

• An understanding of the diversity of the VCFSE including grassroots level/micro- organisations

• Experience of leading meetings representing a diversity of views as well as change management processes at a strategic level

Action for Conservation is a grassroots charity with a mission to bring the magic of nature into young people’s lives, inspiring a youth movement committed to conservation, restoration and to the Earth. We use pioneering approaches to inspire and empower young people from diverse backgrounds, between the ages of 12 and 24, to become the next generation of environmental leaders. We're looking to appoint a Programme Coordinator based along the South East Coast to help us expand our work in the region and deliver our programmes for young people.

About the role

As South East Programme Coordinator, you will be responsible for delivering our core programmes in your region. Through your work, you will inspire and support young people to connect with nature in new and exciting ways and gain new environmental knowledge and skills, and will empower them to have a voice on environmental issues they care about and take action for nature.

You will plan and lead a wide range of sessions for and with young people indoors (including in schools), outdoors and online. You will also support young people to design and deliver environmental action projects that benefit nature and their local communities and create platforms for young people to share their voices and influence decision-making. You will look after all practical and administrative aspects of programme delivery as well as play a vital role in inspiring, empowering and supporting young people both during and outside of activities. You will also formally act as our Blue Mentor for the Blue Influencers Scheme, a match-funded programme for environmental youth social action, funded by The Ernest Cook Trust and the #iwill Fund. 

This role sits across programme coordination and administration on one hand and programme delivery on the other. The proportion of each varies throughout the year, with a busy spring and summer season of activities leading into a quieter, desk-based autumn and winter season as we plan and get ready for the year ahead. In total across the year, you can expect to lead or support the delivery of four to six Ambassador events (usually day-long with a 2-day residential graduation), two 5-day residential summer camps, and around 25 (half-day) sessions at secondary schools or youth groups in your regional (plus additional sessions as needed to support your colleagues with their session delivery).

To be successful in the role, you will be highly organised, proactive, self-reliant and a skilled facilitator who can engage and build positive relationships with young people in a range of settings. You will have prior experience of delivering events and activities for and with young people and, ideally, relevant experience of programme coordination and administration.

Support young people to engage in our programmes and learn about, connect with and take action for nature

• Recruit a diverse range of schools, youth groups and young people to take part in our programmes and act as Blue Influencers, with a particular focus on young people experiencing disadvantage and marginalisation.
• Create exciting content and educational materials for young people.
• Plan and deliver events and activities that help young people to connect with nature, develop their environmental knowledge and skills and take action in their communities, with a particular focus on coastal, marine and riverine environmental issues.
• Support and mentor young people to imagine, plan and deliver environmental action projects to tackle issues that are important to them, with a particular focus on projects that benefit blue spaces.
• Support young people to partner with local community organisations to embed their projects within the community and maximise learning, connection and impact.
• Lay the groundwork for our first coastal Intergenerational Action Site, bringing together young people, conservationists, local stakeholders and community members through our ‘gold standard’ approach to intergenerational nature restoration and decision-making.

Lead on programme coordination and support with safety, evaluation and communications

• Be responsible for the general coordination and manage the logistics to deliver our programmes in your region.
• Manage risk, health and safety and safeguarding during programme activities.
• Ensure Blue Influencer projects meet the Ernest Cook Trust’s and #iwill Fund’s funding criteria and are administered in line with the due diligence guidance.
• Support the evaluation of our programmes and report on outcomes. 
• Help us to grow and manage our network of volunteers in your region.
• Share stories of the young people you work with and support young people to directly share their stories through social media, YouTube, blogs, articles, talks and other channels.

NAPAC is seeking Call and Email Handlers for our support services in Stockport

NAPAC provides the only free national support service for adult survivors of all types of childhood abuse. We offer specialist, confidential support to all adult survivors of any type of abuse, operated by experienced staff and trained volunteers.

Calls are caller-led, and you will be there to empower each caller to take back control in their lives.

• Provide appropriate signposting to external services in accordance to callers identified needs.
