The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is the senior lay officer in the Cathedral and has the responsibility for managing the business functions of the Cathedral and monitoring operational performance.
As COO. you will be pivotal to the delivery of the Cathedral’s vision and strategy and the development of business and operational plans to ensure delivery of the Cathedral’s strategic outcomes. You will work with the Dean and the Senior Management Team to develop and implement strategy and policy, ensuring good governance, the effective and professional administration of the Cathedral in compliance with all policies and procedures and relevant statutory legislation.

The Head of Philanthropy will lead the development and execution of the organisation's philanthropy fundraising strategy, focusing on Major Donors, mid-level giving, Patrons, and Legacy acquisition. The Screen Academy Foundation fundraises for the London Screen Academy (LSA) and the East London Arts & Music (ELAM) - two free-to-attend, Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ sixth form academies for 16-19 year olds in London which, combined, are teaching just under 1200 young people every year. Fundraising for LSA and ELAM
As sixth form academies, the LSA and ELAM receive funding from the Department for Education. However, in order to provide students with world class facilities and equipment, opportunities to engage with industry, arts and culture, and services to support their mental health, the charity needs to raise an additional c. £2.2m each year to supplement the Government funding.
Philanthropy and corporate partnerships are therefore crucial to the success of the Academies. In addition to major donors and trusts & foundations, LSA has developed partnerships with corporations such as NBCUniversal, Netflix and Disney, and ELAM have relationships with Universal Music Group, UTA and PPL.
Purpose of the Role

The Individual Giving Manager will contribute towards Ex Cathedra’s ongoing sustainability and success by maximising philanthropic income:
Strategy and research
• build, maintain and continually seek to expand a pipeline of prospects capable of making gifts at a high 4-, 5- and 6-figure level, making sure that all progress is tracked, monitored and reviewed on a routine basis
• explore our existing data to identify major gift prospects, working in line with data protection law and fundraising regulations
Individual giving
• work closely with the General Manager and Individual Giving Officer to further develop and implement strategies that will increase major gifts and legacy donations to Ex Cathedra, dovetailing with the Trusts and Foundations consultant where appropriate
• arrange and conduct face-to-face meetings with prospects and donors to help build and progress meaningful relationships through regular dialogue

Our Communications Manager is taking maternity leave from mid-June and we are looking for someone to cover the role for approx 9 months. We are a small team and this is the only communications role, therefore the Communications Manager has a lot to do, including:
- Running our whole comms operation – social media, website, event marketing, PR.
- Developing and delivering our communications strategy
- Creating stories and content for different channels
- Working on communications projects with people with lived experience
- Working with our individual giving lead on fundraising campaigns
A major rebrand and a new name have helped us build our profile over the past three years, and we’re working hard to increase recognition and support further. The stories of the people we work with are central to that, and it’s their voices, not the charity’s, that belong in the foreground. So a key part of the job is to build relationships with those people, and support them to tell their stories as they want to, empowering them and keeping them safe. This means staying flexible, in the content and the work of gathering it. In the immigration system and the lives of people going through it, it’s wise to expect the unexpected, so plans can change at short notice. Lived experience and professional experience
Professional experience and lived experience are both valuable for this role. We want to bring people with personal experience of immigration detention, or the asylum process, or immigration enforcement into our team, so if you have this kind of experience then we would really love to hear from you. We need you to bring the ‘must have’ qualities listed above, but do not require a conventional professional CV full of paid communications and marketing roles. What we do need is someone who can help us deliver. That means understanding the people we work with, and knowing how to deliver organisational communications that meet their needs.
If you have lots of professional experience, together with strong understanding of our kind of work and the needs we address, but not the personal experience specified above, then we would also love to hear from you. We want people with all kinds of backgrounds and experience to apply for this job. - Salary: £40,000 per year pro rata (ie £20,000), gross
- Annual leave: 36 days paid holiday leave per year pro rata (ie 18 days), including statutory bank holidays
- Sick pay: 25 days per year pro rata (ie 12.5 days) on full pay, followed by 25 days pro rata (ie 12.5 days) on half pay, followed by Statutory Sick Pay only

ABOUT THE ROLE
HOURS: Full-time (35 hrs per week, Mon-Fri) is available. Other more flexible arrangements would be considered.

CONTRACT TYPE: 24 months fixed term with a view to extending, however this is funding dependent.
You will be based from our flagship space in East Finchley but may also be required to travel across the borough of Barnet. Whilst we try to keep things consistent, we require everyone to work flexibly as required to ensure adequate staff ratios across our provision.
Due to our existing commitments to young people, at a minimum this post-holder must be available to work in-person Mon-Thursday and until 7pm on a Wednesday and Thursday.
