About the role
As a MindWell Research Champion, you’ll be part of the MindWell team and play a vital part in helping to raise awareness of the information, guidance and support MindWell offers.
- You’ll help us to identify health and wellbeing events across the city and key locations for distributing and displaying MindWell materials.
- You’ll make contact with event organisers and locations to find out whether MindWell can support them in any way.
- You'll create a calendar of events, build contacts and relationships with organisations and individuals across the city. and work closely with MindWell Events and Promotional Volunteers.

Tasks and responsibilities

About Us:
Evolve Counselling is a long-established charitable social enterprise, providing low cost, affordable or funded mental health counselling to adults in Cambridgeshire and surrounding counties. Our professional counselling community is made up of 50 – 60 qualified self-employed practitioners, working part-time to deliver talking therapies both online and in person.
We deliver around 500 counselling sessions per month to a broad range of individuals, many of whom would not otherwise be able to access therapeutic support. Evolve also provides supervision, reflective practice, critical incident support, and mental health awareness and related training to organisations and businesses large and small.

What We’re Looking For:
We are searching for an experienced legal specialist who can support our board, committees, and the CEO as we move through our next strategic stage of consolidation, then growth. Although long-established and successful, Evolve is reshaping itself and your legal expertise will be instrumental in positioning our charity to successfully meet the ever-growing demands and opportunities for supporting good mental health in our communities. Please note, a background in counselling is NOT a prerequisite for this role. Training will be available in general charity governance and in specific areas such as charity finance.
Your skills and knowledge, whether gained in the charity or commercial worlds, in a Legal Department or Practice, or a specialist consultancy, will help us to plan and “do the right thing” for our small staff and our self-employed counsellors, as we grow.

Role Description
The Forensic Women’s Hub is a new out of hours community space for women 18+ leaving forensic mental health services, open 3 days a week; one evening and every weekend. We will be offering a safe, warm, non-judgemental social environment for women to build meaningful connections and have access to free activities and resources.
As a volunteer your role will be to support individuals using a peer approach by co-facilitating peer-led workshops, offering emotional and social support. By doing this, it provides an opportunity for service users to develop and manage meaningful and purposeful choices in an independent and empowered way.
We are looking for someone who
- Has lived experience of mental health challenges or being in prison / mental health wards / rehab and recovery communities.
- Is non-judgmental, friendly and committed to challenging the stigma faced by forensic service users.
- Is able to provide a welcoming, authentic, and positive experience for all, being inclusive and embracing diversity.
- Feels comfortable engaging with women with mental health challenges / difficult life experiences, by validating strengths and experiences and using empowering language to overcome negative self-talk.
- Is empathic and understanding towards the stigma / social bias's surrounding forensic leavers and their experiences.
- Is willing to tap into their lived experiences and use their stories to inspire hope in others when appropriate.
Time commitment and expenses:

Share Psychotherapy (Share) is recruiting for a Chair to lead our board of trustees.
We are in an exciting phase of development, strengthening our core clinical team, improving administrative and business systems and solidifying our financial position. We want to build upon our position as a centre of excellence in psychotherapy, by significantly increasing engagement of users, and to make an even bigger contribution to improving mental health in Sheffield.
The Chair of the Board will provide leadership as we develop and grow. Using your skills in leadership, communication, integrity and openness, you will work alongside the other trustees on the board to drive the ambitious vision for Share’s future and guide the staff and large volunteer base. The following areas represent the main elements of the role. Key activities that will usually be the responsibility of the Chair are:
· Lead with the Board the strategic and sustainable development the organization
· Chair formal board meetings and the annual AGM
· Ensure that trustees comply with their duties and the charity is well governed and all aspects of financial, corporate and clinical governance are maintained
· Act as a spokesperson and advocate for the charity
· Be a proactive communicator and embrace a participatory leadership style
· Line manage and provide support to senior staff
The Board holds quarterly formal meetings (usually online), intervening monthly informal sessions and provides general oversight of the work of Share. The commitment as Chair is approximately 3-4 days per month.
We currently have a co-chair job share arrangement which has worked well for the organisation and the individuals holding the post. The board would be open to another co-chair arrangement and there is the opportunity to job share with one of our existing chairs, either as a permanent arrangement or for an introductory period.

West London Centre for Counselling is a registered charity that has been delivering high quality, free, confidential counselling to the local community in Hammersmith and Fulham for over 30 years. We are currently contracted by the NHS Talking Therapies service in Hammersmith and Fulham to deliver short-term therapeutic interventions of 12-20 weeks to people with mild to moderate mental health conditions. All clients receive an assessment before starting treatment, and we assess over 1,000 clients each year.

The Fundraising Team works across Rethink Mental Illness and our partner charity Mental Health UK and comprises around 30 fundraisers led by the Director of Fundraising. The Trustee role will focus on Rethink fundraising activity only, although it will have oversight of fundraising for both charities. The team works across a diverse portfolio of income streams including Events, Community, Individual Giving and Legacies, Corporate Partnerships, Philanthropy and Trusts and Grants raising nearly £7million across both charities.
The Fundraising Team has gone through a significant period of change to set the foundations for growth and has embarked on a new 5-year strategy aligned with our organisational strategy. Currently in year 2, the team’s focus is building pipelines, optimising supporter journeys, building relationships with strategic partners and developing new products for a mass market.
We are looking for someone who is working or has worked at Director of Fundraising level who:
- Has experience of leading Fundraising Teams and overseeing fundraising strategy and governance - to help strengthen the Board’s knowledge and understanding of Fundraising and work with Director of Fundraising to maximise organisational buy-in. Has delivered transformational change within an organisation to shift outlook to a Fundraising first approach.
- Has experience across a diverse range of income streams and therefore can advise Director of Fundraising / Fundraising Team on new income streams and the amplification of opportunities. Knowledge of Capital Appeal fundraising would be beneficial as we would like to launch Rethink’s first Capital Appeal in next couple of years.

Peers2Pals is a friendly and welcoming peer support community, for people to help each other with managing their mental wellbeing and reduce loneliness and isolation.

We offer a range of activities across East Berkshire during the day, evenings, and some weekends. Our youth volunteers play an integral role in our service, running activities, such as a bowling group, meal and games evenings and quiz nights. We are hoping to expand our team and reach more young people.

The Thalidomide Trust is a unique organisation supporting 430 beneficiaries, now all aged in their 60s, born with disabilities as a result of their mother taking the drug, thalidomide, during pregnancy. Their physical disabilities include limb damage, hearing and visual impairment, brain and sensory impairment and damage to internal organs. They are a remarkable group of people, who have achieved a great deal despite often living with extreme levels of disability.

The Say Aphasia charity provides support groups across the UK for people with aphasia; a language and communication disability caused by a brain injury like a stroke. Aphasia affects over 350,000 people in the UK but is little understood or known about by the public. It is the only aphasia charity set up by people with aphasia for people with aphasia; helping them to adapt to their new way of life and regain their independence and confidence.
Aphasia occurs due to injury to the brain such as a stroke. It affects access to language, resulting in difficulties following conversations, speaking, reading and writing. People’s language can be affected to different degrees so not everyone’s aphasia looks the same. Imagine for a moment not being able to verbally order a coffee or ask for a bus ticket. This may be what life could look like for someone with aphasia. Aphasia is a lifelong condition and means that the person living with aphasia, their friends and family will need to adjust to a new way of communicating to overcome barriers. This may mean having to write or draw things instead of speaking. Due to the damage in the brain, people with aphasia may find it difficult to process conversions as quickly as before. Aphasia frequently results in loss of employment and a reduced social network, leading to isolation for the person living with aphasia.
Say Aphasia are always looking to welcome new volunteers to help out at the drop-in groups.
Volunteering for the charity is very rewarding. The training and support ensures that the volunteers learn and enjoy their time with the charity. By giving your time to people with aphasia, you will be improving their quality of life. Many of the members attending the groups live alone, or have minimal social interactions. Having a regular drop-in group to meet others with similar experiences of living with aphasia, vastly improves their mental health and well being. We are looking to bring on board new Trustees who have one or more of the following skills and experience:
- Partnership working, as we do more in partnership with other organisations and experience of merging or acquiring services/organisations could be helpful too.
- HR and insights into how we can be a modern organisation and an excellent employer at the forefront of people practice.
- Equality, diversity, and inclusion to ensure our policies and practices are open and inclusive.
- Sector-specific experience as we navigate the changes in social care. We are particularly interested in people with a good understanding of mental health, working with the NHS and safeguarding.
- Income generation, fundraising, and corporate partnerships.
We are also particularly interested in attracting people with lived experience or associated expertise to navigate the system and understand the barriers and opportunities for support.
Most importantly, we are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to the role and who will broaden the diversity of thinking on our board to bring about real change and move us closer to our vision of a fairer society that works better for everyone.

he Say Aphasia charity provides support groups across the UK for people with aphasia; a language and communication disability caused by a brain injury like a stroke. Aphasia affects over 350,000 people in the UK but is little understood or known about by the public. It is the only aphasia charity set up by people with aphasia for people with aphasia; helping them to adapt to their new way of life and regain their independence and confidence.
Aphasia occurs due to injury to the brain such as a stroke. It affects access to language, resulting in difficulties following conversations, speaking, reading and writing. People’s language can be affected to different degrees so not everyone’s aphasia looks the same. Imagine for a moment not being able to verbally order a coffee or ask for a bus ticket. This may be what life could look like for someone with aphasia. Aphasia is a lifelong condition and means that the person living with aphasia, their friends and family will need to adjust to a new way of communicating to overcome barriers. This may mean having to write or draw things instead of speaking. Due to the damage in the brain, people with aphasia may find it difficult to process conversions as quickly as before. Aphasia frequently results in loss of employment and a reduced social network, leading to isolation for the person living with aphasia.
Say Aphasia are always looking to welcome new volunteers to help out at the drop-in groups.
Volunteering for the charity is very rewarding. The training and support ensures that the volunteers learn and enjoy their time with the charity. By giving your time to people with aphasia, you will be improving their quality of life. Many of the members attending the groups live alone, or have minimal social interactions. Having a regular drop-in group to meet others with similar experiences of living with aphasia, vastly improves their mental health and well being. As a volunteer, you can help the members to communicate with each other, help to organise activities, or help out with teas and coffees. Say Aphasia offers a warm welcome to volunteers.
