We seek a highly-skilled social care professional to join the senior team of our leading local charity, who will provide high-quality support to family carers of adults with a learning disability and/or autism in the London Borough of Merton.

Could this be you?

You will conduct Carers Assessments in which you identify the needs of carers to determine the support they require, which may include financial support, respite care for the person they care for, and practical assistance.  You will form Support Plans with carers which show the ways in which support will be provided to improve their health and wellbeing, and help them in their caring role, and you will assist carers to access appropriate support.  Your periodic reviews with carers will monitor the effectiveness of Support Plans to ensure carers continue to receive the help they need. 

You will work closely with colleagues, the charity’s partners and other organisations to coordinate care and support for carers, facilitating introductions with other care providers and ensuring carers receive information to help them in their caring role.  Key to your work is ensuring services ‘join-up’ so that coordinated, highly professional support is provided to carers.

You will maintain a record of your work by using our databases which you will use to produce quarterly reports and case studies demonstrating the impact of your work.

This role is an important feature of the charity’s strategic offer for family carers.  You will join our senior team dedicated to providing the highest quality care, and you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to the wider work of the charity such as by attending our frequent events, workshops and social events for carers.

This role is a hybrid position - duties can be undertaken from home, from our offices in Morden, and by conducting home-visits with carers by appointment.

Although not essential, we encourage applications from people with lived experience of learning disability and autism, such as from parents and carers, and we offer flexible working arrangements.

We’re looking for a highly skilled and experienced public affairs professional to join our small staff team to lead our public affairs activity and to grow the influence of the Children and Young People’s Mental Health Coalition. This is an exciting opportunity to influence positive change at a time of significant policy and political developments.

As Public Affairs Advisor, you will lead on the Coalition’s public affairs and influencing activity. You will be responsible for influencing the Government’s policy and legislative agenda relating to children and young people’s mental health, forging relationships with the new Parliament, and ensuring the Coalition’s views are heard across Westminster and Whitehall.

With over 370 members across the country, our Coalition has a significant potential to extend its influence. Many of our existing members are well placed to influence at a local level through working with their NHS Integrated Care Boards, councils and MPs, but do not always feel confident carrying out public affairs work. As Public Affairs Adviser, you will work with our members to upskill them to carry out their own influencing activity through a series of ‘Learning and Development’ workshops.

You will have Public Affairs experience of developing successful strategies to influence legislation or government policy, have strong knowledge of political systems and processes, have existing networks and contacts, and feel passionate about creating positive change for babies, children and young people.

This is a new role within the Coalition staff team and is generously supported by the Prudence Trust and the Hollick Family Foundation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of the Coalition’s parliamentary influencing strategy.
• Build and maintain relationships with Parliamentarians and other key stakeholders, such as civil servants and special advisers.
• Lead the Coalition’s engagement with Parliament and Government, ensuring strong systems are in place to capture and track engagement.
• Monitor and respond to political and legislative developments affecting our work, making recommendations for responses, and proactively seeking opportunities to further the Coalition’s objectives.
• Provide political intelligence to the staff team, Chair and our members, and help to prepare staff for parliamentary activity as appropriate.
• Produce high quality written briefings, reports and other materials that communicate our messages clearly and effectively to a parliamentary audience. This will also include contributing to other Coalition communications such as media responses, newsletters, blogs, and social media posts.
• Plan and deliver events aimed at political stakeholders, for example, parliamentary events and roundtables.
• Participate in collaborations with other charities for shared influencing activities, for example the Fund the Hubs campaign and the Future Minds campaign.  
• Support work on legislation as appropriate, including drafting amendments.

Working with members

• Regularly engage with members to understand their influencing priorities and to gather insight to help inform the Coalition’s wider influencing priorities.
• Connect Coalition members to decision makers and help spotlight their work, for example, helping to organise visits to services.
• Provide advice to members on engaging with their local decision-makers such as their local MP, Integrated Care Boards and Councillors.
• Deliver workshops with members to share information and skills related to influencing and public affairs activity. For example, this could include delivery of sessions on influencing local systems, working with the government, and legislative processes.  

General

• Work closely with the Coalition Lead, the Policy and Public Affairs Assistant, and Chair of the Coalition to develop and review priorities for the Coalition and support to drive these forwards. You will also be required to work closely with the staff at Centre for Mental Health.
• Support with the development and implementation of the Coalition’s work plan and projects.
• To undertake any other duties as reasonably required by the Coalition Lead or Chair of the Coalition

Debt Advisor

Scope of role

The Debt Advisor is responsible for providing comprehensive, video debt advice to prisoners across thirteen (13) HMPPS sites, tailored to their specific circumstances. This role involves conducting detailed interviews to understand clients’ financial problems, researching options, and helping clients make informed decisions. The advisor ensures income maximisation and provides ongoing casework support, acting on behalf of clients where necessary. Maintaining up-to-date case records and staying informed about relevant legislation, policies, and procedures are crucial aspects of the role. The Debt Advisor is also expected to complete continuous professional development and contribute to the team’s overall objectives by meeting targets, prioritising workloads, and demonstrating financial efficiency. The may also be required to attend meetings on-site at various prisons and host workshops for prisoners.

Accurate, effective and individually tailored advice

• Interviewing those that access our service using sensitive listening and questioning skills to allow them to explain their problem(s) and empower them to set their own priorities.
• Researching and exploring options and implications so that those accessing our service can make informed decisions.
• Providing in-depth quality advice and on-gong casework, including acting for the client where necessary using appropriate communication skills and channels.

Detailed case records

• Maintaining detailed case records, ensuring that all work meets all auditing and quality standards and the requirements of the funder.
• Ensuring all case records and written up in a timely manner.

Up-to-date training

• Completing a minimum of 16 hours/ equivalent of technical debt advice DPD accredited training or qualifying activity.
• Maintaining an up-to-date record of all training sessions.

Teamwork

The role of Helpline Advisor

For several years, Guts UK have provided information, support and guidance to our community over the phone and by email. This year, we’re formalising that service into a professional Helpline and are looking for someone to join our small, talented support team.

During the initial 6-month trial period, the Helpline phone lines will be open Monday to Friday, 10am to 2pm, but this may expand or change later in the year. Queries could be received via phone, email or web-query form.

​As a member of the Helpline team, you will offer on demand information, support, guidance and signposting primarily to enquirers living with, or caring for those with, digestive conditions and symptoms. The support offered will include receiving calls, emails and web form queries from people who are looking for more information about their digestive condition, need to know where they can turn to for support, or are waiting on a diagnosis and need help navigating how to get there. You will provide appropriate information, guidance and signposting to our own information and other external support organisations. As a charity, Guts UK covers all digestive symptoms and conditions, across the whole of the UK, and so no two days will be the same and queries will be diverse and interesting.

The role holder will man the Helpline (alongside others from the team) from 10am to 2pm (with a 30-minute lunch break) and during that time will receive, respond to and appropriately log phone calls, web-queries and emails.

The Role

As a Legal Advisor, you will provide legal support on a wide range of property-related matters across The Royal Parks estate. We have a number of residential and commercial properties that are under licence to third-parties, many of whom in the commercial forum are charities and entities that support The Royal Parks’ objectives, as well as licences for sports grounds, car parks and other properties on Crown land.

Working closely with our Principal Legal Advisor Estates and the Estates and Parks Teams, you will ensure our properties are managed in line with our charitable obligations.

On a day-to-day basis, your work will span the creation, review and negotiation of licences for commercial and residential properties, whilst assisting the Estates and Parks Teams in the management of the estate from a legal perspective.

Your licensing work will also involve works licences within the Parks and in relation to adjoining land where in order to carry out the works access to the Parks is required with resultant retention licences for example, where utility pipes ducts and cables are retained or encroachment licences where there are encroachments from adjoining properties, on under or over the Parks. You will also deal with freebord licences for garden use in connection with adjoining land.

• Interpret legislation and policy, offering clear legal guidance
• Manage external counsel to ensure knowledge is retained internally

About You

To be considered as a Legal Adviser, you will need:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Housing Advisor to join a fantastic charity who provide those living with HIV practical and emotional support to help them live a fulfilling life free from isolation.

Location: Hybrid, between home, office (Old Street) and HIV clinics across London

Salary: £33,660 (full-time equivalent, or pro-rata for part-time post)

Hours: Full-time, part-time or job share will be considered

In this exciting newly created role you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of a bespoke crisis management service accessible by everyone living with HIV in London. You will deliver comprehensive housing options advice to people referred to the service by HIV clinicians, peer support workers and voluntary sector partners.

 Key responsibilities include:

- Advising on risk of homelessness, social housing applications, rehousing options, bidding process, house swapping options

- Submitting poor conditions complains, advising on disrepair and liaising with local Environment and Health Agency

- Working with asylum seekers to be moved on from unsuitable accommodation and avoid homelessness once granted refugee status

- Supporting applications for legal aid for eviction and homelessness

- Taking part in the ‘Getting to zero’ collaborative monthly/bi-monthly partnership meetings, monthly casework supervision meetings and staff meetings as required

- Together with the Project Lead, using quality improvement methodology to shape and improve the service

- Establishing collaborative working with HIV clinic and provide outreach at various clinics up to four days a month 

The successful candidate will have a recognised qualification in housing advice (e.g. Certificate in Housing Practice or equivalent) or substantial equivalent experience, with at least two years’ experience in providing housing advice or support, particularly to vulnerable groups (e.g., people living with HIV, homelessness, mental health, or immigration issues). Knowledge and understanding of housing law, homelessness legislation, and immigration issues related to housing is crucial, as is experience in dealing with housing benefit systems, social housing applications, and private rented sector issues.

Prostate Cancer Research (PCR) is a research and information provision charity that is dedicated to improving and saving the lives of people with prostate cancer. Patients are central to everything we do and drive our work. Our work covers four key areas:   

• Academic and social research – We fund novel and innovative research projects at world-leading institutions that are working towards breakthroughs in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of advanced prostate cancer, and better quality of life outcomes for patients. Prostate Cancer Research (PCR) is seeking an experienced and insightful Senior Policy Adviser to lead the development of our policy work and help drive meaningful change for people affected by prostate cancer.

Reporting to the Head of Policy, Campaigns and Public Affairs, you will be responsible for shaping evidence-based policy positions, producing high-impact consultation responses, and identifying strategic opportunities to influence health and research policy. This is an exciting opportunity for a policy professional with strong analytical and writing skills, a solid understanding of the health policy landscape, and a desire to make a difference. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Policy Leadership: Lead the development of PCR’s policy positions across a range of health and research issues through in-depth research, evidence analysis and horizon scanning, identifying key issues affecting prostate cancer patients and developing robust solutions for systemic change. 

• Consultation and Inquiry Responses: Draft high-quality, persuasive responses to government consultations, select committee inquiries, and regulatory reviews, ensuring PCR’s positions are well-evidenced, compelling and grounded in insight from those with lived experience. 

• Health Technology Appraisals: Lead or contribute to PCR’s submissions to NICE and SMC technology appraisals, ensuring that our input is evidence-based, reflects the lived experience of patients, and aligns with our policy positions. 

• Stakeholder Insight and Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, healthcare professionals, government bodies, think tanks, sector bodies such as the AMRC, and other key stakeholders to inform PCR’s positions and stay at the front of policy thinking. 

• Political and Policy Monitoring: Track key policy developments and legislative changes relevant to prostate cancer, assessing their implications and identifying opportunities for PCR to engage.

• Internal Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across PCR, including research, communications, patient engagement and fundraising teams, to ensure a unified approach across policy and organisational priorities. 

• Briefings and Written Outputs: Deliver succinct, compelling, and well-evidenced policy briefings on key issues to a range of stakeholders, including policymakers, industry leaders, and partners.

• Public Representation: Represent PCR at external meetings, external policy networks, working groups, events, and conferences, ensuring our position is effectively communicated and influencing policy discussions in line with our strategic objectives. 

• Support for Public Affairs and Campaigns: Provide policy advice and support the development of policy-facing materials to support the delivery of public affairs and campaign activity led by the wider Policy, Campaigns and Public Affairs team. 

Person Specification: 

• Education and Experience: 

• Significant experience (typically 3–5 years) in a policy role, ideally within the health, research, or voluntary sector. 

• Bachelor’s degree in public policy, health sciences, social sciences, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience). 

• Demonstrable experience of developing evidence-based policy positions and delivering consultation or inquiry responses in a relevant context. 

• Skills and Competencies:
