We need someone committed to showing care, respect, patience and understanding, someone who understands that challenging behaviour can be a demonstration of the impact of multiple traumas. Due to internal promotion, we have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Officer known to Guide Dogs as an Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our Finance Team on a FTC basis until the end of June 2025.
This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work in a way that is best for you, with at least 2/3 days a week attending our Reading Hub in Burghfield.
The ideal individual will have a background in finance/accounts and a drive to make a positive impact. It is a really exciting time to join our Finance Team as we embark on our new Guide Dogs strategy. This role helps people with sight loss to live the life they choose by ensuring all income processing, banking and credit control functions are carried out appropriately.

Candidate requirements
To be able to fulfil this role, the skills and experience we are looking for in a potential candidate include;
Essential
- An NVQ or equivalent in accounting/business studies or relevant business experience.
- Recent work experience in a finance/ accounts department.
- Experience of working with and processing bank reconciliations.
- Previous experience of using computerised accounts packages, preferably in a high-volume processing environment.
- Experience of dealing with and resolving customer queries and issues.
- A thorough understanding of the principal functions of an accounts receivable department and an awareness of how the work impacts upon other departments.
- Knowledge of the principles of Gift Aid.
- An awareness of customer requirements in relation to accounts receivable, Gift Aid and Banking.
- Computer literate with experience of using excel and databases.

New Horizon Youth Centre has been commissioned by the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) as part of an Alliance with Safer London, St Giles Trust and the Anna Freud Centre to deliver on their Children and Young People’s Violence and Exploitation and Reduction support service. The commission will run from June 2024 for three years. As part of this, an additional service will be set up within the NHYC Youth Justice team specifically to deliver on the Alliance contract. This will include a team of Housing Caseworkers who will carry out assessments and advocacy work with young people under 25 who are fleeing violence and exploitation, in order to move them on successfully into both emergency and long-term housing options. You should be passionate about working with this client group, able to manage a fast-moving caseload, and committed to working collaboratively with a team across multiple services.

You will be joining a dedicated and enthusiastic fundraising team where you will be personally responsible for managing a portfolio of individual relationships. You will cultivate, solicit and manage a portfolio of major donor prospects (this includes holding regular face-to-face meetings) to secure significant donations towards our themes of Climate, Health, Creative and Campus.
Degree-educated or with equivalent qualifications/experience. To be successful in this role you will have excellent communication skills and demonstrable experience of a high level of achievement in fundraising or relationship management. You must be able to evidence that you meet all the essential criteria detailed in the Candidate Brochure.
