Job description

The English and Media Centre is a small, highly respected, educational charity supporting secondary level teachers of English and Media through their publications and classroom resources, student magazines, online and in-person continuing professional development courses, research and advocacy.

We are looking for a sales administrator with bookkeeping experience to handle the Centre’s sales order processing, invoicing and invoice chasing, update customer records, manage bank reconciliations and respond to sales-related related customer queries. 

While you will be working independently much of the time, you will also be part of a small, friendly team, experienced at working closely together whether in the office or on Zoom. You will, for example, have a weekly online meeting with other members of the finance/admin team and will keep in touch throughout the day via email and Slack.

You will also contribute to the organisation and running of our in-person student and teacher conferences (6-8 per year, in London).

This is a position which would suit the following candidates: someone who is studying alongside working; a parent of young children; anyone looking for a remote-working, predominantly term-time role, within the school day and with the opportunity for flexible hours (by negotiation with the director).

Essential

  • Experience of sales order processing, including invoicing, invoice chasing and bank reconciliations
  • Confident user of online accounting platforms 
  • Clear and accurate written expression
  • Highly organised
  • Ability to work independently 

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Xero, Worldpay and Stripe
  • Problem solver, interested in understanding and getting to the bottom of issues
  • Experience of working in or with schools in an admin/finance role
