The Domestic Abuse Marginalised Communities Worker will provide support and interventions to those affected by domestic abuse to empower and support and break the cycle of domestic abuse throughout their journey with Stop Domestic Abuse, regardless of risk. The Navigator will be committed to family work and proactively work to recognise and implement solution focused actions to ensure eradicate domestic abuse from families lives.
The Domestic Abuse Marginalised Communities Worker will provide additional expertise to the wider team and enrich the service with specialist knowledge and guidance relating to victims who may experience additional barriers to accessing support from our service due to their ethnicity. The Lead Navigator will develop initiatives, workshops and training packages for both internal and external professionals. The role will encompass peer to peer support, direct one-to-one support to victims who may be at medium or high risk of harm, whilst also engaging with communities and local organisations in the local area to improve our response to domestic abuse. This role does not involve the line management of staff.
The Portsmouth Service operates as one team, and all staff are responsible for taking referrals for all aspects of the service, offering immediate support, advice and assessments to clients or people contacting the service, welcoming families into refuge and completing relevant paperwork, and ensuring the smooth running of the service. This will include providing cover when required for absent colleagues to ensure that the core functions of the service are delivered and responding to changing demand in service provision. The Portsmouth Service is a team committed to whole family work, when safe to do safe, creating a family journey through the service.
The Portsmouth Service is staffed 9am-9pm Monday to Friday and 10am-6pm Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. This role’s working pattern will fall within the hours of 9am-5pm Monday- Friday.
It is essential that the postholder has a driving licence and access to a car for work purposes as this role covers multiple sites in Portsmouth.

About the position
Responsible strategic leadership and effective delivery of HSI/UK’s public affairs advocacy, this role is an exciting opportunity to create lasting change at scale. The role will be responsible for delivering public affairs components of all of HSI/UK's priority campaigns, including bans on imports of hunting trophies and fur, a ban on the use of farrowing crates for pigs, and adoption of plant-forward policies in public sector procurement. The role will also identify new and reactive opportunities to improve public policy for animal protection in the UK.

Key areas of responsibility
- Undertake strategic policy analyses, and develop evidence-led policy positions, briefings, and statements, to support the effective delivery of HSI’s UK campaigns to political audiences;
- Work with campaigns teams to deliver timely dissemination of HSI/UK’s briefing and policy outputs to targeted policy and political stakeholders, including through Parliamentary meetings and events;
- Monitor the national policy and political landscape, including parliamentary inquiries, consultations, written and oral questions, party political policy positions and government announcements, in order to recommend and draft responses;
- Work with HSI/UK's legal advisors to analyse draft legislation pertinent to HSI/UK’s campaigns, crafting proposed amendments and coordinating interventions to secure the most robust and enforceable animal welfare laws;
- Manage, and ensure team-wide effective use of, HSI/UK’s political monitoring tools and database, to inform political stakeholder relationship development and management;
- Create stakeholder maps and relationship development strategies for key policy-making stakeholders for each of HSI/UK’s priority campaigns, to strengthen HSI/UK’s influence and reputation in the civil service, government, and parliament;
- Respond to public affairs and policy inquiries from the public, supporters, and the media;
- Report regularly on progress against agreed public affairs goals and metrics.
About you
Our successful candidate will be a confident, articulate and positive with a proven track in leveraging positive change the the public affairs/policy space. A proactive self-starter, you will have demonstrable experience of managing and developing strong, focused and ambitious teams, and a solution-focused approach to overcoming obstacles. You will have experience of building strong, trust-based, strategic relationships with political and policy stakeholders in order to deliver agreed goals, and you will ideally bring a network of positive relationships with you. You will have ambition and drive for creating positive change for animal welfare; a willingness to constantly learn and develop the most impactful, cost-effective, audience-tailored advocacy to politicians and policy-makers; and your work will be solidly underpinned by regular evaluation of progress and impact with a view to further improving strategies.

Background: Muslim Charities Forum (MCF) is the UK network for British Muslim-led Voluntary and Community Sector Organisations. MCF seeks to support, connect, and represent these organisations so that they can all experience the blessings of the collective. Through our network we support almost 300 charities and community organisations.
We aim to collectively build a more accountable, transparent, and efficient British Muslim-led Voluntary and Community Sector, to improve our ability—both as individual organisations and as a sector—to contribute to a more just and sustainable world. MCF has a small team, but our impact is far-reaching. Following a period of expansion, MCF is seeking an innovative, motivated and passionate individual to lead on its advocacy capacity building work, sector-wide advocacy work, and delivery of its strategic policy work.
The primary purpose of the role is to build capacity in Muslim-led Voluntary and Community Sector Organisations with differing scales of operating and programmatic focus areas. There will be a particular focus on those Muslim led organisations based in London.
You can expect to be leading on some of the areas as a priority in this role:
• Engaging in outreach with Muslim-led Voluntary and Community Sector Organisations.
• Producing relevant policy and advocacy capacity building materials suitable for those involved in Muslim-led Voluntary and Community Sector Organisations.
• Delivering capacity building engagements with those involved in Muslim-led Voluntary and Community Sector Organisations.
• Hosting roundtables and other group engagements to learn more about the policy and advocacy priorities of Muslim-led Voluntary and Community Sector Organisations.
• Strategically Managing a programmatic budget to outsource elements of MCF’s policy and advocacy capacity building initiatives.

JOB PURPOSE

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee the management of the CEO Outlook mailbox, dealing with incoming emails, categorising and filing these

• Organise domestic and international travel arrangements, including liaising with internal and external contacts to arrange
meetings. Ensure that time is prioritised effectively and appropriately with reasonable timings and rest periods.
• Work closely with the CEO to keep them well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, following up appropriately.
• Ensure that papers and briefings are given to the CEO for meetings and that any instructions/directions are obtained prior to the meeting.
• Provide timely and relevant information to support decision making and planning, dealing with people at the most senior level both internally and externally and appropriately representing Railway Children at all times.
• Collate, prepare and disseminate information and data as required by the CEO (for internal and external correspondence,

• Support the Group Director of People & Culture in the administration of HR matters in line with GDPR guidance, including recruitment, trustee engagements, DBS checks and employee communications.
• Coordinate Performance Management Review meetings and paperwork on behalf of the leadership team.
• Assist with the administration of procurement processes as required.
• Collate, prepare and disseminate information and data as required by the leadership team. Accurately review, proofread and assist with materials ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Group Board & Governance
• Work closely with the leadership team to ensure that there is appropriate co-ordination of Board, sub-committee and leadership team meetings and an effective flow of information.

OVERVIEW
School of Hard Knocks is embarking on an ambitious new 3-year fundraising strategy that will see us more than double our income and increase our audience reach so we can support more young people to complete their education and reach their potential. We have not yet proactively explored challenge events or community fundraising and yet we believe this could be an exciting growth area for the charity. We currently run one special event a year, but again, we see opportunity to grow our calendar of special and donor engagement events.
The purpose of this role is to build challenge and special event and community fundraising to support the delivery of our ambitious fundraising strategy. You will be an enthusiastic fundraiser, focused on building growth in our events portfolio and bringing creativity and events knowledge to the role. You will develop excellent relationships with our donors and corporate partners who engage in our events, supporting them to maximise their fundraising for the charity.
You will need to use your experience, creativity and proven event planning skills to ensure the success of our ambitious plans for achieving an effective events calendar for the charity.
This is a maternity cover contract with the potential to extend after the initial 12 months.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Events Fundraising:
- Work to achieve the Fundraising strategy by effectively initiating and delivering a calendar of challenge and special events suitable for our audiences across the UK, that will drive audience reach and income, focusing on delivering a good return on investment and achieving set objectives.
- Develop excellent donor journeys for all participants and attendees, putting in place effective and efficient processes and procedures.
- Work with the Marketing and Communications Manager to design and implement appropriate marketing strategies to maximise participation for all events including pre-, during- and post-event publicity.
- With support from the Communications team, develop timely social media content and achieve local media coverage by gathering compelling supporter stories.
- Ensure all supporter records are kept up to date with all interactions and the highest quality data is captured.
- Effectively follow all appropriate protocols and policies for the handling and receipting of donations and sponsorship monies and accurate recording of supporter information. Ensure all information is recorded in line with data protection legislation (GDPR).
- Work with the wider Fundraising and Communications Team to ensure a seamless donor experience for all and optimise cross-selling opportunities where appropriate.
- Monitor progress against set KPIs, report analysis of challenge events to the Director of Fundraising and review performance to ensure effectiveness. Provide relevant data and insight to inform next steps and plans for future growth.
Community Fundraising:
- Work with the Director of Fundraising to devise and implement an annual fundraising plan for community fundraising.
- Work with the Regional Fundraising Managers to maximise opportunities for Community fundraising in the areas we work in.
- Steward all community fundraising activities in England, ensuring our supporters have all the information and materials they need to make their events a success.
- Proactively seek new community partnership opportunities. Liaise with relevant members of staff to attend new business meetings and write compelling cases for support to win local community partnerships.
Other:
- Deliver safe fundraising events and activities ensuring the charity always operates within legal requirements and best practice. Ensure risk assessments are completed on events.
- Be willing and flexible to work outside of office hours to attend events, when necessary. Must be willing to travel around the UK on occasions to attend fundraising events and activities.
- Foster effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders including Corporate Social Responsibility Managers, Chairs & Trusties, senior volunteers and event coordinators.
- Represent the Charity’s Mission by speaking passionately about the charity to donors, and delivering presentations and talks on occasions, inspiring them to join in our mission to make a difference.

ABOUT YOU
Knowledge & Experience:
- Fundraising Expertise: A proven track record of achieving financial targets through fundraising activities, ideally in mass participation and/or special events.
- Relationship Management: Demonstrable experience in building and nurturing strong relationships with a wide variety of individuals – ranging from community fundraisers to senior volunteers or senior-level corporate executives - to drive engagement and income. Skilled in identifying, establishing, and retaining new supporters, with a focus on effective supporter care and stewardship.
