We have an amazing opportunity to lead our media and celebrity team as Head of PR, working in a supportive job share. We’re looking for an experienced and focused leader who has the ability to drive forward a brilliant, high-performing team.
The team works across all areas of the MS Society – from using press and celebrity involvement to raise awareness of multiple sclerosis to promoting our research, campaigns and fundraising. All the work centres on the stories and experiences of people with MS.
You’ll be the sort of person who thrives on working at pace and juggling multiple projects. You’ll have extensive experience of managing crisis communications, developing and implementing media strategies, creating a proactive calendar of stories and ensuring spokespeople are well-trained and briefed.
We’re looking for someone who is committed to collaborative working, who is excellent at building relationships and trust with colleagues at all levels, and whose focus is on supporting the team and enabling them to do their best to speak up for the MS community.

About the campaign
Our Campaign for Disability Justice, launched in September last year, is a vital initiative to tackle the systemic issues trapping over two million Disabled people in deep poverty. We address the root causes: inefficient social security regardless of employment status, barriers to employment for those capable of work, and a negative public discourse perpetuated by Government. The Campaign calls on Government to collaborate with Disabled People's Organisations to achieve these crucial changes.

About the Role
Reporting to the Community Fundraising Manager, you will take the lead in delivering our in memory giving programme. You’ll be the first point of contact for supporters giving in memory of a loved one and will also support the development of our legacy fundraising programme.
You’ll manage and deliver campaigns that inspire, comfort, and engage supporters, with a compassionate, respectful approach. From running special events like the annual ‘Walk to Remember’ and ‘Candles at Christmas’ service, to stewarding Tribute Fund supporters and working with funeral directors and solicitors, your work will ensure a meaningful and memorable supporter experience.
This role offers plenty of room to make a genuine impact as part of our new five-year strategy – including the launch of major fundraising campaigns for a new cancer hospital and a new children’s hospital.

The Role

You’ll play a key role in managing estates left by supporters, handling a caseload of legacies with professionalism and empathy, especially when engaging with bereaved families and next of kin. Your attention to detail will ensure all correspondence and legacy receipts are accurately recorded and efficiently tracked using legacy case management software. You’ll also manage the Legacy Case Team inbox, supporting case handlers by allocating new cases in line with policy. You'll continue to expand your knowledge, staying up to date with changes in probate, legislation, and best practices to contribute to the ongoing success of the Legacy team.

The Head of Business Development works closely with the CEO and has responsibility for all aspects of the development of BLCF’s business interests including long-term income growth, philanthropy, partnerships, communication and new business initiatives. Responsibilities
Work with the CEO and Head of Impact to develop plans and strategies to ensure quality services are delivered that meet organisational objectives and charitable articles to the highest standards.
As part of the Senior Leadership team, work with, advise, contribute, and respond to the CEO and Head of Impact and the partnership they create to ensure they are deliverable and adequately resourced and costed and deliverable.
Work with the CEO to set and implement Strategic Plan Delivery Plan targets and objectives and budgets to deliver them. Ensuring information is cascaded to all staff in their area and that staff connect to the Strategic Plan though their own workplans.
Core Role Delivery
Work with the CEO and under their direction to identify, develop and deliver new partnerships and to increase revenue and business growth that support the Foundations long term sustainability and long-term income targets. Basing new work on evidence of need as identified by the Head of Impact . This includes but not exclusively development of new flowthrough opportunities, endowment partners, legacy, corporates, social value and CSR initiatives and all aspects of business growth.
Provide support and advise to potential and existing partners about our work and proactively look to address inequality and fairer access to opportunities the Foundation offers.
Oversees the team and external contractors tasked with effective communication with our corporate and business partners to ensure it is a means to drive partnership and business growth.
Staff & Contract Management
Ensure an appropriate, effective staff, freelance and volunteer structure to deliver the services; recruit and manage staff & volunteers and resources to achieve required service response and quality.
Ensure all staff development and review processes are undertaken including induction, appraisal, and performance, in line with required processes. Resolve performance issues among staff and volunteers engaged in delivering services.
Performance Management
Working under the direction of the CEO develop, agree, and secure agree all partnership agreements and MOU that support the emerging partnerships and ensure they are in line with the Donor Care Plan specifications.
Working with the CEO and Finance, oversee and monitor all contract and partnership agreement terms with regards to agreed milestones and cashflow of fees and funds; anticipate problem areas and lead as necessary on mitigating action and ensure deliver of agreed targets.
Work to the Head of Impact to inform monitoring reports as required to ensure clear and transparent delivery of agree contracts.
Ensure appropriate levels of training are maintained and a good working understanding of the policies and procedures of the Foundation.
Contribute to the Quality Accreditation process to ensure highest standard of the foundation are achieved.
Relationship Management
Under the direction of the CEO develop and maintain proactive, collaborative and effective strategic relationships with corporate partners, commissioners, contract managers, business partners and funders to maximise the charity’s influence and ability to deliver quality services and grow it income and funding.
Manage the Bedfordshire & Luton Funder Network to maximise opportunities for support, collaboration, and information sharing.
Representing the Organisation

As an Associate Director in the Paid Media Team, you'll oversee the execution of digital advertising campaigns across clients ranging from leading UK and global charities and UN bodies, to global brands and their CSR programmes.

A day in the life
- Translate clients’ strategic visions into media objectives and KPIs to accomplish a wide range of client objectives including direct response (lead gen and fundraising), awareness, persuasion, and advocacy.
- Analyse ongoing and historical performance data to identify opportunities for improvement, make strategic recommendations, and generate reporting and insights to drive optimisation.

Some things we're looking for
- 6-8 years experience in a hands-on paid media planning and buying role using a mix of digital channels (Social, Search, Display, Video, Audio, etc)
