This role reports to the Director of Veterans and Families Employment. The TechVets Programme is a programme within Forces Employment Charity that provides opportunities for veterans, service leavers, reservists, and their families to join our amazing community, learn and train using leading training resources, and gain direct access to employers.
This position is for one-year, Fixed term, Full-time, 35 hours per week, with a salary of £28,325. The successful candidate will be based at home. This role is a remote position requiring the successful candidate to travel to events around the UK and is expected to commute to our Head Office in London when required.
Principal Responsibilities:
- To administer operational delivery of partner training, coordinating the allocation of training to appropriate clients.
- To be responsible for the day-to-day running of the TechVets Programme online community within our Discord server.
- Take the lead on Community Updates and Training Updates, signposting our services and information.
- Being the first line of support for members and supporting the Employer Partnership Manager with employment-related announcements and activity.
- To be responsible for collating the necessary training and community data and ensuring this data is accurately processed and included in all programme performance reviews, reporting, and dashboards in order to verbally (virtually and / or in-person) present results to TechVets Operations Manager, Director of Veterans & Families, and wider team where required.
- Attend events where relevant and appropriate. This is shared amongst the team to maximise attendance across numerous events by capitalising on each team member's geographic location and availability.
Other responsibilities:
- Lead the administration and delivery of client onboarding sessions.
- Support the sharing of marketing content to enhance the Forces Employment Charity TechVets Programme sub-brand, broaden the reach into the Armed Forces community, and increase the visibility of the opportunities and successes that we have.

JOB DESCRIPTION
1.Main purpose of role
To develop The Family Centre Deaf Children’s (FCDC) fundraising channels and secure income from grant funders and individual donors in order to sustain and develop the charity’s services and infrastructure, building strong relationships with key stakeholders and contributing to FCDC's overall strategic development, aims and operations.
The Development Officer is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of our Fundraising Strategy 2024-2029 to support the charity’s continuous improvement, financial sustainability and future growth.
The post holder will be responsible for inspiring individual donations to the charity through local giving initiatives and further developing the charity’s existing income channels including:
· Community and events fundraising
· Individual giving
· Grants from Trusts and Foundations and other relevant grant income sources.
2.Duties and Responsibilities
2.1 General
· To champion FCDC’s vision, mission, ethos and values (internally and externally).
· To comply with all relevant charity and other legislation.
· To uphold and contribute to the updating of FCDC’s internal policies and codes of conduct.
· To contribute towards the delivery of the charity’s strategic, operational, and departmental plans.
· To develop and maintain good working relationships with FCDC staff members, Trustees, service users, volunteers and other key internal and external stakeholders.
2.2 Income generation from individuals
· Sustain and grow FCDC’s individual donor base and community fundraising in line with agreed income targets.
· Research and identify potential major donors.
· Work alongside the Centre Manager and Board of Trustees to develop relationships with potential donors.
· Work alongside FCDC’s Fundraising Working Group, Centre Manager and Events and Family Development Officer to develop and coordinate an annual calendar of community fundraising events.
· Develop local individual giving campaigns and social media appeals to secure individual donations.
· Ensure all fundraising activity is in keeping with the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice and is compliant with fundraising regulations.
· Ensure all fundraising activity is in keeping with FCDC’s mission, values, ethos and objectives.
· Ensure Gift Aid is claimed on all eligible donations and appropriate Gift Aid records are kept.
· Ensure our email opt-in and supporter subscriber lists are kept up to date.
2.3 Income generation from Trusts, Foundations and Statutory Agencies
· Maximise income from grant-giving organisations to ensure sustainable growth of restricted and unrestricted income in line with agreed income targets.
· Build and manage relationships with Trusts and Foundations to secure grants of £5,000 or more.
· Research, contact, correspond and meet with funders (as and when required) to build relationships prior to submitting funding applications.
· Collaborate with the FCDC team across the organisation to create compelling fundraising proposals and produce high-quality applications, reports and budgets.
· To assume responsibility for a portfolio of current and potential grant funders to maintain, grow and/or revive their support for the charity.
· Develop a robust pipeline of charitable Trusts and Foundations to support FCDC’s services and activities.
· Maintain relationships with funders between applications to nurture positive relationships between them and FCDC.
· Work alongside the Centre Manager and Board of Trustees to develop partnerships and positive working relationships with current and potential grant funders.
2.4 Donor engagement and stewardship
· Working closely with FCDC’s Centre Manager and the Chair to develop a donor journey that encourages long term support from individuals.
· Process individual donations, including: recording donations, thanking supporters in a timely fashion and responding to ad hoc supporter queries.
· Contribute to and proofread fundraising appeals, marketing materials and FCDC digital content.
· Support existing and new supporters of the charity in their initiatives to raise funds for FCDC.
2.5 Funder and donor data management
· Ensure that all funders and individual donor contacts and activity are accurately recorded on our funder and donor database.
· Work alongside the Centre Manager to ensure that all personal data is gathered, held, and used in-line with relevant data protection regulations and FCDC’s Data Protection Policy.
· Accurately record Trusts, Foundations and other grant income data on FCDC’s financial ICT system.
· Compile and submit timely funder reports, working alongside the Centre Manager in checking monitoring data, proofreading reports and ensuring reports are uploaded to funder portals, as and when required.
2.6 Fundraising Strategy 2024-2029
· Oversee the development, implementation and monitoring of FCDC’s Fundraising Strategy 2024-2029, with specific focus on individual giving, community fundraising and Trusts and Foundations.
· Support the Chair and Centre Manager to set up a new Fundraising and Events Working Group (consisting of volunteers, service users, Trustees and staff), who will support and act as a sounding board for new fundraising initiatives and open doors to new income streams.
· Keep up-to-date with fundraising trends, opportunities and best practice and recommend changes in our funding strategies and annual fundraising action plans.
· Maximise income from new fundraising opportunities as and when they arise in the course of our work. For example: local sports group donations and company payroll giving.
2.7 Reporting
· Regularly report on fundraising outputs, outcomes and the impact of fundraising initiatives to staff, the Chair and the Board of Trustees.
· Contribute to funder monitoring activities and evaluation reports to ensure that FCDC meets its reporting obligations to funders.
2.8 Other
· Contribute to FCDC’s positive working culture, strategic direction and the future growth of FCDC by participating in team meetings, supporting other staff in their work and contributing ideas and feedback across the organisation.
· Ensure that key stakeholder enquiries, contact details and other relevant records are maintained and kept up-to-date.
· Undertake other reasonable duties and responsibilities which the Chair may request from time to time.
· Actively participate in the staff appraisal scheme and be committed to learning and development in line with the Charity’s aims and objectives.
· Manage and liaise with volunteers, service users and other stakeholders as necessary.
· In collaboration with the Centre Manager and other colleagues, you will help ensure our website is engaging and up-to-date.

We're looking for a keen and motivated Training Administrator to join our small, friendly team at our head office in Rugby. You'll be working closely with our Training Manager and ISVA (Independent Sexual Violence Advisor) Training Project Manager, facilitating the smooth delivery of workshops, events and meetings, advertising and promoting training workshops and preparing training delivery and feedback reports. The Survivors Trust provides a range of workshops and training opportunities for professionals working with victims and survivors of sexual violence and sexual abuse.
You will provide high level administrative support for the Training Manager and ISVA Training Project Manager, overseeing training bookings and maintaining a database of trainees on our CRM (Beacon). You will be responsible for collecting and collating feedback from training attendees and preparing reports to support training delivery. Working in collaboration with the Training Team you will support the advertising and marketing of training opportunities including updating relevant website content.
You will also maintain accurate records of training and project delivery, including budgets and impact measures data for both internal and external stakeholders. Part of your role will include gathering statistics for monitoring and reporting processes.
You will ideally have previous experience of administration in a training setting and/or working in the voluntary sector but please don't be put off applying if you don't meet all requirements. The right candidate will be an effective communcator in a friendly and professional manner, with excellent IT skills including CRM and LMS.

Rheumatology Advances in Practice (RAP) is a fully Open Access journal that publishes quantitative and qualitative research on all areas of rheumatology and musculoskeletal practice. The Editor-in-Chief plays a key role in providing leadership, vision and strategy.
Job Purpose
The Editor-in-Chief will be appointed by BSR and the term of appointment will be for a five-year period. The Editor-in-Chief plays a key role in providing leadership, vision and strategy of the journal.
The Editor-in-Chief for Rheumatology Advances in Practice (RAP) will work with BSR to develop and produce a high-quality journal as well as establish its strategic direction. They will be involved in keeping the BSR Board of Trustees and RAP Editorial Board as well as leading the social media presence of the journal.
The Editor-in-Chief will have a general responsibility to the broader rheumatology, paediatric, primary care and allied health community in communicating clinical and scientific advances and standards, to promote their needs and aspirations by commissioning content and planning Special Issues that will enhance the field of research, care and support for these communities.
The Editor-in-Chief will work with the Society and Publisher to ensure that it continues to meet its objectives and set strategic goals for the journal.

We recently received an impressive first impact factor of 3.1 and we are excited to continue to grow the presence of the journal internationally. As the journal is fully online and open access, we have exciting opportunities to provide a multitude of publishing services for our authors, in line with the industry standards and experimenting with new ways of publishing. We listen to the voice of the authors, readers, reviewers and board members to understand their publishing needs and are excited to trial new projects. For example, we recently launched a new article type called an ‘Atlas Review’ with a unique offer of unlimited figures, allowing authors to illustrate their important discussions and not limiting the capabilities via text exclusively.
Quality and ethical standards
The Editor-in-Chief will ensure an appropriate balance of good quality articles, so the journal addresses the needs of the multidisciplinary rheumatology community. The Editor-in-Chief will see that the journal maintains the highest ethical and moral standards. The journal must be seen to be fair and unbiased towards individuals and provides a comprehensive and balanced view of the specialty. The journal is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and committed to the highest ethical standards in journal publishing.
Conference attendance
The BSR, EULAR and ACR conferences provide an excellent opportunity to network with current and prospective authors, reviewers and Editorial Board members, as well as to commission new content for the journal and to provide social media updates. Conferences can also be used to arrange podcast and video interviews with authors, Board Members and colleagues. Delegate tickets to EULAR, the BSR Annual Conference and ACR will be covered by the British Society for Rheumatology and travel and hotel expenses will be covered as outlined in the budget.
Editorial support to the Editor-in-Chief
The Editor-in-Chief will receive day-to-day support for processing papers and managing peer review from the BSR in-house Editorial Office team, as well as support from contacts at Oxford University Press. Co-Editors, Associate Editors and wider Editorial Board also provide support and guidance to the Editor-in-Chief.
The relationship with the British Society for Rheumatology
The day-to-day contact with the BSR will be through the Editorial Office; however, the Editor-in-Chief will have several relationships as follows:
- BSR Journal Committee
The BSR Journal Committee will review and supply any feedback about overall advice given by the Editorial Board on the content, quality, standards, promotion, and performance of the journal to the Editor-in-Chief. The Journal committee is responsible for overseeing and approving the finances, scope and policies of Rheumatology Advances in Practice. The committee ensure actions decided upon further the work of the Journal and its development within the Journal’s aims and scope.
- BSR Board of Trustees, CEO and Senior Management Team
Advised by the BSR Senior Management Team, the BSR Board of Trustees approve the finances and strategy of the journal. Members of the BSR Senior Management Team attend the Journal Committee meetings. The Editor-in-Chief is asked to attend the BSR Board of Trustees on an ad hoc basis to provide an update on strategy and delivery.
- Rheumatology Editor-in-Chief
There is a transfer of papers model in place, so the Editor-in-Chief will have opportunity to collaborate with the Editor-in-Chief of Rheumatology to ensure the right papers are directed to the right journals by understanding the scope nd criteria of each journal. The journals share a X and instagram pages and marketing and promotional campaigns can be co-ordinated.
- Oxford University Press
OUP publish the journal on behalf of the BSR. OUP provides a full publishing experience with expert teams who advise and support on matters related to production, marketing and law, publishing ethics and strategy. The publisher, BSR and the EiC work closely to ensure the journal strategy is bespoke in order for Rheumatology Advances in Practice to maintain the current community, build the readership and authorship, and align with the visions and values of BSR. The Editor-in-Chief will meet OUP contacts at the Journal Committee Meeting and strategy planning meetings, as the publisher highly values the knowledge and experience of the Editor-in-Chief. Day to day communication will be via the Editorial Office to ensure smooth running of journal procedures.
Main responsibilities
- Work towards and guide the 5-year strategy for the journal
- Set strategic goals with BSR and the publisher to apply for further indexing, and maintain or grow the Impact Factor
- Work with BSR, the publisher and Editorial Board to target and commission reviews, original articles and special issues, and curate a sponsored supplement timeline
- Ensure that the journal’s scope is international and is reflected in its content
- Ensure the journal is produced to a high standard, and that it reflects the needs of the full spectrum of the rheumatology professional community
- Ensure rapid peer review with time to first decision within three weeks
- Ensure the Editorial Board reflects not only the various subspecialties within rheumatology but also includes a global spread
- Ensure that the journal is promoted online using a range of media to promote and raise awareness of the journal
- Participating in the digital offerings of the journal, such as hosting podcasts
Person Specification
- A PhD degree/ Doctor of Medicine, specialised in rheumatology, with a clinical science background and a strong understanding of recent trends and developments
- Demonstrable experience in an editorial role including, reviewer, editorial board member, associate editor or guest editor
- Adaptability to new publishing systems and software. Experience with the system, ScholarOne, would be beneficial to the role but is not a requirement as training can be provided

About you

Main duties of the job

· Support the team with staff initiatives and giveaways including setting up ballots on the charity website

· Ensure the database is kept accurate and up-to-date by recording changes including mailing preferences, address details and financial information
· To manage all collection boxes in the community, ensuring they are logged in and out correctly and recorded on the database. To work with the fundraisers to increase income in this area
· Thank individual supporters and organisations timely and courteous manner and record these communications on the database. This includes sending out fundraising packs, event invitations and event confirmations.

You will play a valuable role in delivering our Legacy Product Strategy by managing a caseload of pecuniary, residuary, and life interest trust legacies and building collaborative relationships with solicitors, law firms and other professionals involved in legacy giving or Wills substitutes. To be successful in this Sports and Challenge Events Officer role you will have previous experience, skills, and knowledge in areas such as:
- Strong track record of success within a similar Sports and Challenge Fundraising role.
- Ability to create and implement integrated marketing plans for events-related activity.
- Strong organisational and project management skills to work to tight deadlines and to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience of building and developing relationships with a wide variety of individuals; fundraisers, committee members, external suppliers, and colleagues.
- Experience of utilising social media and digital marketing for similar fundraising activities.
- Experience of managing and or setting budgets.
