Job Description 

We have created this new role to support the organisation’s growing finance functions. Working alongside the Treasurer and Co-Directors, the individual will play a vital role in managing the organisation's financial resources. Working flexibly from home, you will perform a core role in our small, friendly virtual team helping to oversee budgets and financial support. This is a freelance position with a flexible schedule. The expected time commitment will be between up to 14 hours per week, depending on workload.

key responsibilities

• Prepare the annual organisational budget, long-term forecasts, cashflow forecasts and re-forecasts. 

• Lead on preparing the monthly management accounts, budget vs. actual analysis and commentaries.

• Support in preparing proposals for donor budgets,and in reviewing donor contracts

• Lead on financial reporting to donors 

• Lead on financial administration

• Lead on the budgeting and forecasting process with co- Directors and the Treasurer including financial reports

• Lead on the production of and review of monthly Management Reports

• Preparation of Biofuelwatch International and Europe reporting when needed

• Maintain and provide finance related information to the co-director team

• Support financial planning and reporting for project and campaigns

• Oversee the management of day to day financial administration when needed

Essential

• An NVQ or equivalent in accounting/business studies or relevant business experience.
• Recent work experience in a finance/ accounts department.
• Experience of working with and processing bank reconciliations.
• Previous experience of using computerised accounts packages, preferably in a high-volume processing environment.
• Experience of dealing with and resolving customer queries and issues.
• A thorough understanding of the principal functions of an accounts receivable department and an awareness of how the work impacts upon other departments.

• To support Area Deans with the administrative aspects of the Hackney and Islington Projects: Hackney Area Dean oversees the catholic mission stream of work

• Dealing sensitively and confidentially with mail, email and telephone calls. To respond as far as possible on the Area Dean’s behalf, and, where appropriate, draft emails and letters.

General Duties  

• To develop and maintain efficient filing systems, both in hard copy and electronically.

• To be responsible for the ordering of office supplies and equipment.

Support to Mission Project  

• Assist the Area Dean with organising meetings with colleagues, planning mission and training events

• Liaise with the Archdeacon and Dean of Mission and Associate Area Dean

• Communications with the Stepney Area Team.

• Provide administrative support to the Parish and Deanery (rotas, minutes, agendas etc) in a way that releases capacity of the ministry of the Area Dean

Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Pioneering Project, as we develop pathways to faith on the Roundshaw Estate.

With significant grant investment from the Church of England, we are now setting up a Pioneering Project to develop these pathways, with new innovative spaces being added along the way. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Community Development Worker to work as part of our Oasis Hub on the Isle of Sheppey, to engage and work with the community by helping them to access Hub activities, and the social supermarket project.

1. To deliver the Sheppey Support Bus project and ensure its day-to-day operational tasks are fulfilled.
2. To liaise with our community partners including supermarkets, Fairshare etc to support and provide for Oasis activities, including the Sheppey Support Bus.

• A relevant professional qualification in Community Work or able to demonstrate qualification by experience.
• Successful experience of working with complex communities.
• The ability to deal with private information and sensitive issues with a calm and confident approach in difficult situations.
• Ability to function in diverse settings and with a wide range of professional agencies.
• Self-motivation, resilience, excellent organisational/administrative and inter-personal skills are essential for this role.
