Finance Officer

We are looking for an experienced Finance Officer to join the team, to manage financial operations and related administrative processes.

This is an interesting opportunity working for an organisation that co-creates inclusive arts opportunities within diverse communities.

Position: Finance Officer

Location: Greater Manchester/Heywood/hybrid (in person in Heywood on Wednesdays)

Hours: Part-time, 15 hours / week

Salary: £28,282 per annum (£9,554.70 pro rata)

Contract: Permanent

Benefits: 7.5% employer pension contribution, with a requirement of 0.5% contribution to be made by the post-holder, and 30 days holiday plus public holidays pro rata

The Role

You will be responsible to and work closely with the Managing Director to ensure financial information is provided to the Board of Trustees, funders and other stakeholders; and act as Secretary to the Finance Task Group, convening and minuting meetings.

This includes maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices and payments, reconciling book-keeping software (currently Quickbooks) and producing regular management accounts.

About You

You will have experience in finance and accounting and a strong understanding of charity finance. You will work closely with senior leadership and the Programme Coordinators to ensure budgets and financial reporting are up-to-date and comply with legal regulations.

Practical experience is more important to us than formal qualifications.

Our Finance team is looking to recruit a Finance Officer to join our Accounts Payable (AP) team to support the work and transactions that British Heart Foundation (BHF) perform for us to fund lifesaving science.
 
As an Accounts Payable Finance Officer, you'll:

• support the team and deliver a high-quality service in terms of timely, accurate and efficient entry of BHF expenditure onto our central accounting system
• ensure you achieve key performance indicators and individual targets agreed upon and set by the AP Team leader
• ensure that all transactions are coded and authorised to meet month end deadlines and meet agreed service levels.
• work on data capture and will have knowledge of IPOS queue management.
   

The AP team provides a high level of customer service, ensuring colleagues and suppliers are kept updated in the process and that the payment process is as smooth as possible, so you’ll effectively manage your workload and escalate complex issues to the team lead.

Understanding the needs of customers, you’ll raise the profile of finance through provision across the AP team of best-in-class service both internally and externally.

The role involves dealing with internal & external customers via email and over the phone, so you’ll be confident communicating in both conversation and writing.

 

Working arrangements

 

This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.

About you 
 

You’ll have previous experience within accounts payable or be someone wanting to get into Finance with strong organisational skills, able to pick up tasks quickly and with ease.

With excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, you’ll be able to build strong working relationships within Finance and across the BHF and be comfortable communicating finance information to non-finance colleagues. 

The role is working within a high-volume, fast-paced team, so you’ll have excellent time management and organisational skills.

To excel in the role you will have:

• Accounts payable experience: A strong understanding and experience of BACs, invoicing, reconciliation, finance administration, and Account Payable processes. Familiarity with HMRC requirements for VAT and payments within the UK banking system, and a good knowledge of GDPR.
• Proficient IT and financial systems skills: Excellent IT skills including MS Excel and financial application software packages. 
• Problem-solving and analytical skills: Outstanding attention to detail with an analytical approach to data. Strong problem-solving skills with a logical and methodical approach to identifying and resolving issues independently.
• Team player with a can-do attitude: A self-starter who is proactive and a good team player. Exhibits a can-do attitude and is able to manage workload with direction from the team lead.

Key Tasks:

• Accurately manage petty cash and balance it to ensure clear record keeping
• Accurately input financial information onto Sage in order to enable clear financial reporting

Morgan Law are seeking a Head of Finance on a 12 month FTC basis for a regulator in London. The role will lead the small but highly experienced team, and be the most qualified finance person in the organisation. Accountabilities

• Management of the core corporate services such as finance, payroll, the outsourced IT contract and procurement
• Management of the annual report and accounts process and the annual external audit
• Preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts including budget variation submissions

• Is a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT)

Experience

This new role will lead on individual giving and events fundraising for Oasis Hub Waterloo with a focus on securing funds for Lambeth & Croydon Foodbank and our associated advice services. Our day centre service is currently open three days per-week offering respite, food and somewhere safe to be for anyone facing street homelessness. It provides advocacy and casework services to those who are vulnerably housed or homeless, supporting them to address their individual crisis and the underlying causes. We also provide a small year-round night shelter provision. 

APAP works in close partnership with a number of key agencies locally including drug and alcohol teams, street outreach services, local authority housing teams and the wider VCS. We are a gateway service in the community through which our clients can access a range of support. 

This role will require a keen interest in homelessness and the devastating impact this can have on people. This is a new role which would suit someone with experience of recruiting and managing volunteers. The role will entail expanding our volunteer base, developing processes and procedures to effectively support them and managing them on site. The role will report to the Senior Project Worker.
