Back Up is the only charity in the UK that has dedicated services for children and young people with a spinal cord injury.
When a child or young person sustains a spinal cord injury it is a life changing experience. Lots of things that seemed certain for their future, suddenly seem to be thrown into doubt.
Building confidence and independence after spinal cord injury is so important to a child or young person’s adjustment and wellbeing. Knowing what support and information is available, how to access it, and finding answers to questions are vital in helping to ensure that all children and young people have the tools to live the life they want after spinal cord injury.
Back Up does this by offering information, advice and guidance, fun courses, support in returning to education, mentoring, and opportunities for young people to come together and share their experiences through our Youth Advisory Group.
This role will focus on providing specialist information, advice and guidance. Whether that be returning to education post injury or navigating the services and support available, you’ll be a natural at supporting and empowering young people and their families to thrive.

A large part of your role is acting as the project lead on our unique Inclusive Activity Leaders (IAL) programme. Your responsibilities include recruiting the cohort, planning and coordinating all aspects of delivery, providing ongoing support to Leaders, and overseeing project monitoring and evaluation.

The ideal candidate for this role will be an expert in building relationships across Leicester’s diverse communities and experienced in inclusive community engagement and communication techniques, with a passion for designing new approaches.
Location and coverage
The role will be based working from home with an expectation of working 3 days per week expected to work from location or office base.
This role is recruited as a part-time or full-time fixed-term contract (minimum 0.5 FTE) of 15 months with the opportunity of extension of the contract at the end of this term depending on funding. In your role as a Community Keyworker, you will be working with women involved in the Criminal Justice System; those on Probation in the Community and those women being released from Prison as part of their Post Sentence Supervision; providing some in-reach and ‘Through the Gate’ support. You will be working in a team of Community Keyworkers in your region. Each Keyworker will provide holistic one to one community support to women with a variety of needs.

The Minerva London service provides holistic, trauma-informed support for women in touch with the Criminal Justice System. We do this through offering dedicated one to one support, safer women’s centre spaces and specialist interventions and partnerships.
To be successful as the Community Key Worker you will need the below experience and skills.
You will be working in a supportive, friendly, and welcoming team whilst having oversight of a caseload of women, who may be under the supervision of the National Probation Service or in custody, enhancing the offer of holistic support and advocacy services available to them throughout their journey.
Building relationships with other statutory and non-statutory agencies in local communities is vital to build referral pathways and provide a whole system approach to supporting individuals.
To carry out this work you will meet women in the community in your designated borough and co-locate with other agencies including the National Probation Service, as well as regularly attending Advance’s North London vibrant Women’s Centre/office space.
You will be a creative self-starter who will support the service and look for innovative solutions to support clients with complex needs. You are confident professional relationship builder and has good awareness of Safeguarding procedures. Strong Administration skills and understanding of compliant behaviours also experience of supporting. With good knowledge of the criminal justice system and awareness of other support provisions.

The Owned Events Lead is a key role in the development of our growing fundraising events programme. The role provides strategic and operational leadership to the Owned Events team, making sure they’re enabled to deliver our annual portfolio of MS Society organised events across the UK.

About this job
The Head of Research enables successful delivery of the organisation’s ground-breaking Research Strategy. They will provide vital leadership, strategic direction and day to day management of the MS Society’s research programme as well as leadership of the Research Team.
This varied and exciting role also involves developing and maintaining strategically relevant partnerships, annual grant round, new research strategy and acting as a spokesperson for the MS Society as well as being a key ambassador – inspiring internal teams about the MS Society’s research programme.

This is an exciting new opportunity to help Cambridge City Foodbank (CCFb) grow and develop the talent and skills of its large volunteer workforce. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will have a critical impact on CCFb’s ability to meet the need for emergency and affordable food. This post builds on the findings of CCFb’s externally commissioned Volunteer Learning Project.
Main Duties:
● Lead the recruitment, retention and development of the volunteer workforce; working to support Team Leaders, and to ensure there is clarity of responsibility and accountability.
● Oversee the Volunteer Development Team, including recruiting to vacant posts, line management of the team and the team’s workflow. The team comprises of 3 x Volunteer Administrators specialising in volunteer recruitment, volunteer journey and supermarket collection days.
● Coordinate the special supermarket collection day volunteer teams, that take place periodically throughout the year.
● Complete the transition to the ‘Assembly’ volunteer database and oversee the maintenance of accurate records.
● Create and deliver an action plan which builds on the findings of the Volunteer Learning Project (with the support of the CEO and Operations Manager) in the following areas:
o Living the Ethos – ensuring our Vision, Mission and Values are understood and embraced by our volunteers
o Connection & Community – creating strong connections with the organisation and a sense of community across the whole volunteer supporter base.
o Diversity, Inclusion and Lived Experience – proactive action to engage diverse communities in volunteering, including widening age, ethnicity, and lived experience.
o Continual Learning and Progression – ensuring effective volunteer induction, training and ongoing development opportunities take place, throughout a volunteers’ journey.
o Operational Excellence – improving volunteer procedures and administrative systems.
● Liaise with colleagues across the Trussell network; sharing best practice and participating in learning opportunities, to further the work of Cambridge City Foodbank.
● Other activities may be requested from time to time by the CEO, Operations Manager and senior staff, consistent with the needs of the Charity.
Personal Specification:
Technical skills and minimum knowledge:
● Excellent people management skills, with a good understanding of the differences in supervising volunteers compared to employees, gained from personal experience with the voluntary sector.
● Strong coordination experience, highly organised, and able to effectively juggle multiple administrative tasks at the same time!
● Competent in the use of Zoom/Teams and MS Office software.
● Excellent written and verbal communication and relationship management skills.
