As the Head of Function, you will lead a team of five specialists and be accountable for ensuring UNICEF UK has sector leading operations in both prospect research and due diligence.

An understanding of the political processes in the UK and the role and work of trade unions is essential for the Head of Legal role.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Legal Counsel to join our dynamic team. The Legal Counsel is responsible for advising and challenging senior colleagues, ensuring the provision of sound legal advice and guidance. They will oversee legal compliance, manage legal risk mitigation efforts and take ownership of legal processes to enable the smooth operation of our organisation.
This position will take accountability for developing and implementing the charity’s legal strategies, ensuring that legal risks are proactively identified, managed, and mitigated effectively.
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
Compliance and Regulations
· Take ownership of monitoring and advising on changes in laws and regulations relevant to the charity, including but not limited to charity law, data protection, health and safety.
· Oversee the development and execution of strategies to address legal risks, obligations, and opportunities.
· Ensure compliance with applicable legal frameworks, to include the creation and maintenance of a legal register.
· Proactively identify, monitor, address, and report on legal (and where appropriate other business) issues of significance.
Contracts
· Take responsibility for drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of contracts including, but not limited to commercial, research, collaboration contracts and service agreements, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and mitigating potential risks.
· Oversee the provision of timely and pragmatic legal advice on matters of contract law, intellectual property rights, employment law, governance, and other relevant areas, ensuring alignment with our organisational goals.
Litigation & Dispute Resolution
· Take ownership of managing legal disputes, litigation, and other legal matters, ensuring effective collaboration with external counsel to safeguard the charity’s interests.
· Identify and address legal risks proactively and escalate more complex legal matters when appropriate.
· Provide specialist advice to ensure foreseeable legal risks are effectively identified.
Stakeholder Engagement & Training
· Be accountable for establishing and maintaining effective business relationships with internal and external stakeholders, overseeing the integration of legal input into decision-making processes.
· Take responsibility for developing and delivering training sessions and workshops to ensure employees and stakeholders are well informed on legal matters, contracts, policies, and procedures.

What we are looking for:
· Qualified solicitor or barrister in the UK, with a current practicing certificate, sound legal training in a well-regarded legal practice, and relevant post-qualification experience in-house and / or in private practice.
· Strong knowledge of contract law, and the drafting of agreements, negotiating contracts and developing compliance.
· Strong knowledge and understanding of UK legal frameworks, regulations, and compliance requirements applicable to charitable organisations.
· Ability to translate complex technical information into clear and accessible advice to non-legal stakeholders.

Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF) is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Research to lead our research initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience in infectious diseases, a strong background in biomedical research, international collaboration and a proven track record of managing and leading research projects. Lead responsibilities
- Strategy – development and implementation.
- Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) accredited grant awards and management process including research funding rounds; grant awards; grant management and all aspects of reporting for the research portfolio and impact of projects funded by MRF.
- Recruitment, development and management of MRFs Scientific Advisory Panel and their participation in the grant awards process.
- Externally funded research projects including concept development, partner identification, writing, developing and where necessary producing peer-reviewed academic papers of relevance to MRFs strategy and shorter briefing documents and presentations as required.

The role
A key role in our Research team, the Research Projects Manager will be responsible for developing and managing our research projects and grants programme, in alignment with our new research strategy. As part of this, you will manage our genomics programme of research, which includes an exciting multi-stakeholder, international project, designed to understand barriers and opportunities to use of whole genome sequencing in low- and middle-income countries.

- Manage our internally driven research projects including scoping, planning, designing, budgeting and reporting on activity to internal and external stakeholders.

Research grants
- Project Manage the launch of grants rounds and co-ordination of peer review procedures, in alignment with the UK Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) requirements.
- Lead on the development and maintenance of all application, peer review and grant management procedures.
- Project Manage administering post award processing, monitoring, reporting and governance of successful grant applications.
Research collaboration
- Support the Director of Research to identify and respond to relevant meningitis research consultations in the UK and internationally.
- Work with Director of Research to identify, monitor and respond to developments in the UK and international research funding environment and help draft grant applications.

About the role:
The Legal Officer works closely with the Legal Team (Legal Director and Legal and Parliamentary Officer) to support our policy and advocacy work and with the Senior Legal Projects Manager in a key role to coordinate strategic legal advice and litigation. The Legal Officer also works closely with the rest of the ILPA Secretariat, including the Chief Executive, Content and Digital Channels Manager, Training Officer, and with Trustees, ILPA and SLAC members, the SLAC Steering Committee and co-convenors of ILPA’s Working Groups.
You will regularly analyse information, including legal and practice updates, and disseminate information orally and in writing to the public and to ILPA members. You will assist with answering ILPA members’ legal, policy and practice-based queries, raising systemic issues with government departments as appropriate, and provide flexible, tailored, technical and practical support for practitioners and non-practitioners, who include public bodies, professional organisations and non-governmental organisations (NGOs). You will assist in the preparation of legal policy and parliamentary briefings, and ILPA’s responses to consultations, calls for evidence, other official submissions and correspondence with government bodies. You will also help represent ILPA in meetings and work collaboratively with colleagues across the sector in pursuit of ILPA’s influencing aims.
Additionally, you will support the organisation and running of ILPA’s thematic Working Groups, which provide a valuable forum for ILPA members to share best practice and discuss issues of current importance, assisting with agenda-setting, presenting updates, following-up on action points, and preparing meeting summaries. The overall aim of these activities is to improve immigration, asylum and nationality law, policy and practice. You are not expected to have policy experience, as you will gain knowledge and exposure to policy work through this role and we hope to see you grow in the role and take on greater policy responsibility during your time at ILPA, accompanied by corresponding salary increments where deemed appropriate as part of our salary review process.
You will work with the Senior Legal Projects Manager to develop partnerships with NGOs and legal professionals around the UK. You will coordinate the general and regional Strategic Legal Advice Committee (SLAC) meetings. These meetings will be held online, across the UK. Each SLAC group will hold four meetings per year as well as emergency meetings where necessary. You will be responsible for the minute taking of all SLAC meetings. You will work with the Senior Legal Projects Manager to set member-led meeting agendas, identify member training needs, facilitate training, update the SLAC website, and feed in to monitoring and evaluation of the project. You will be responsible for coordinating SLAC Steering Committee meetings.
About you:
The position would suit a self-motivated individual who is passionate about the sector and is looking to further their career in immigration policy or advocacy, including by making the transition from immigration practice to work on immigration policy and strategic legal advice and litigation coordination.
You may be keen to be working at the heart of the systemic changes following Brexit, recent significant legislation, including the Nationality and Borders Act 2022, Illegal Migration Act 2023, Safety of Rwanda (Asylum and Immigration) Act 2024, attempts to remove people seeking asylum in the UK to Rwanda, government initiatives to “reduce net migration” such as the increased Minimum Income Requirement for family visas, and the recently introduced Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill.
You will have an interest in strategic litigation and how it can be used to protect and promote the rights of those discriminated against on the basis of their migration status. You will be passionate about being involved in the coordination of a unique and exciting project that brings the third and legal sector together in developing strategic litigation.
Given the complexity of immigration, asylum and nationality law, we do not expect applicants to have expertise in every area, but an understanding of the law and excellent critical analysis skills are key. Any successful applicant will be able to attend ILPA training to further their knowledge.
Main responsibilities
- To liaise, work with, and gather evidence from members to support ILPA’s influencing work and to assist with knowledge-sharing in the sector;
- To assist the Legal Team to influence law and policies through written and oral advocacy;
- To coordinate and contribute to internal and external meetings, which may have a range of attendees including ILPA members, SLAC members, government officials, parliamentarians, experts, lawyers, and other external organisations and individuals;

- To assist with facilitating SLAC training events, communicating with SLAC members and feed into the monitoring and evaluation of SLAC; and

We are looking for a qualified solicitor or barrister with valid practising certificate, or already accredited to Level 3 IAA (OISC), with two years’ experience in providing advice and representation in asylum including working in legal aid.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the legal advice service. Under the guidance of our Legal Service Manager, you will also build capacity amongst legal representatives by designing and delivering training, giving second tier advice and developing and coordinating a network of practitioners working in this area. About the role
This is the campaign you will be working on
One of the key issues we work on is accountability for sexual violence against children in institutions in Latin America, which aims to challenge impunity and improve access to justice for victims and survivors. Combating sexual violence against children globally has been a core part of CRIN’s work for more than a decade, and from this experience we see common challenges across the most systemic and entrenched forms of institutional abuse and exploitation: secrecy, cover-ups, abuse of power, stigma, shame, and impunity.
To successfully challenge this status quo, we have looked at the experiences of countries like Ireland and Australia, which were some of the first countries where survivors mobilised to demand and secure legal reforms to improve access to justice and establish national inquiries into child sexual abuse which prompted other policy reforms. In an effort to support and strengthen similar survivor-led activism elsewhere in the world, since 2019 CRIN has worked alongside grassroots organisations in Latin America led by adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Our focus has been to support their national campaigning that challenges impunity for abuse committed in the region’s Catholic Church, but we have since expanded the scope of our work to cover institutional settings more broadly.
CRIN’s added value in the campaign includes providing much-needed financial support and capacity building, research support, international and legal advocacy and helping to expand partnerships. By working with survivor-led networks, we aim to encourage their development across the region so that governments can no longer ignore their demands for truth, justice, reforms, and reparations.
This is who we are looking for…
We are looking for someone to coordinate the end-to-end delivery of the campaign. The focus of the role is on project and budget management, strategy planning and implementation, and partnership building. But given the generalist nature of campaigning, you may at times conduct advocacy support, media outreach, research and analysis, and event coordination.
You would work alongside the Legal Advocacy and Campaign Coordinator, as well as part of the core project team comprising the Co-Directors and the Legal and Policy Coordinator.
Your responsibilities will include:
● Leading the delivery of CRIN’s campaign supporting grassroots organisations in Latin America to end impunity for child sexual abuse in institutional settings.
● Building and maintaining trust-based partnerships with grassroots survivor-led networks in Latin America, ensuring engagement is anti-colonial, trauma-informed and participatory.
● Building partnerships with key allies, such as civil society groups, journalists, academics, legal experts, consultants and funders.
● Managing the campaign budget and related administrative tasks, including partnership contracts and sub-granting.
● Providing advocacy, research, and administrative support to partners, as needed.
● Organising capacity-building events to support partners’ organisational development.
● Providing occasional research and writing support to colleagues in the production of advocacy materials, including submissions to human rights bodies and research reports.
● Managing project communications, including updating the campaign webpage, leading on media outreach, coordinating the production of research reports and translating all project materials.
● Working with CRIN’s communications staff to create content for the website, social media, and newsletter.
● Managing the campaign’s Monitoring and Evaluation, recording, and reporting actions, deliverables, and learnings, including coordinating annual progress reports to our funder.
● Participating in regular project meetings to discuss developments, address any issues and plan the next stages of the work.
● Participating in organisation-wide activities such as regular team meetings and collective decision-making.
We are looking for someone with the following attributes:
● Professional experience or interest in issues related to access to justice for survivors of childhood sexual violence.
● Professional experience or interest in working with grassroots organisations and/or survivor-led organisations.
● Native-level fluency in written and spoken Spanish and English.
● Experience in project and budget management.
● Ability to cultivate partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including grassroots organisations, activists with lived experience, civil society organisations, international NGOs, journalists, and lawmakers.
● Knowledge of or interest in participatory approaches to partnerships and decision-making, as well as an understanding of how oppression can manifest in the issues we work on (and how we work as an international NGO) and a keen interest in how we can implement an anti-oppression approach.
● Motivated, with strong organisational skills and ability to manage one’s own work (including while remote-working).
● Ability to think strategically and critically.
● Ability to thrive in a small but diverse international team, with a strong commitment to anti-discrimination, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

● Previous experience of working at an NGO and/or in human rights campaigning.

Job Description
Strategy: To develop and set feasible policy goals over the short, medium and long term, in line with WRW’s overarching campaigns strategy to improve the lives of women seeking asylum, in consultation with the Campaigns team, and the women in WRW’s network; to provide regular analysis on the external context and assess the opportunities for bringing about policy change in order to inform the strategic direction of the Campaigns team.
Policy: To lead the drafting of policy documents including briefings for MPs, civil servants and other influencing targets, evidence for Parliamentary committees, responses to inquiries and consultations, etc.
Research: To identify research opportunities to advance WRW’s policy goals; to plan and write up research projects for influencing opportunities, ensuring that these are informed by and co-delivered with women in WRW’s network, and carry them out in partnership with the other staff of WRW and our campaigns groups.
Influencing: To identify influencing avenues to advance our campaigning goals, and work with the Campaigns team to develop and maintain relationships with civil servants, parliamentarians, opinion-formers and other stakeholders.
Law: To explore the potential for use of the law in achieving our policy goals, including working on possible strategic litigation in partnership with other organisations and with lawyers.
Communications and media: To work closely with the Campaigns team to give input and advice on WRW’s communications through mainstream and social media to ensure that these are accurate and well-targeted; to act as a spokesperson for WRW’s campaigns, including on media platforms and at events, panels and other platforms to reach target audiences.
Partnerships: To work closely with policy colleagues in the sector to share intel, pool expertise, and advance joint goals; to represent WRW at conferences and forums, consolidating and initiating partnerships with partner organisations and other stakeholders in order to drive forward our policy work.

Organisational input
Grassroots: to work with the Grassroots team in ensuring that the women in WRW’s network understand the policy and research function of the organisation and are updated regularly about our progress towards achieving these.
Monitoring and evaluation: to assist with the evaluation and monitoring of WRW’s policy work and its effectiveness.
Support with fundraising: to support the work of the Grants Fundraising Manager through contributing to grants applications and reports.

We're looking for a Science Advisor to help ensure that the best available science is used to support climate litigation around the world.
ABOUT THE ROLE. CLN is a non-profit foundation that supports partners across the world to drive stronger climate action through litigation against high-emitting actors. We are now looking for a new Science Advisor to play a critical role in bridging the gap between science and law in the context of climate litigation, including by supporting the translation of key legal concepts and standards into actionable remedies in climate cases. This is a new post that offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to climate action as we approach 2030, and to shape this new post within CLN. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting legal teams on how best available science can be integrated to support and strengthen their legal and advocacy strategies, and advising on effective ways to present scientific data to national and regional courts.
- Assessing scientific and evidentiary gaps in ongoing and future climate cases, and working with CLN staff and external partners – including academic and scientific institutions – to explore ways to address those gaps in a manner consistent with legal principles.
- Supporting the translation of legal standards into scientific standards. For instance, translating the legal standards presented by the European Court of Human Rights in the KlimaSeniorinnen case into relevant national carbon budget reports, and exploring the implications of key principles of international environmental law to States’ or corporations’ mitigation efforts.
- Acting as a bridge between the legal and scientific communities.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with leading climate scientists, academic institutions, and researchers.
