World Jewish Relief created the Specialist Training and Employment Programme (STEP) for refugees in 2016 and today we are the largest provider of specialist employment support to refugees in the UK.STEP aims to support and empower people with experience of forced migration through a tailored employment programme that addresses the complex barriers refugees face in preparing for, and ultimately finding, work in the UK.

STEP for people seeking asylum is an exciting new specialised programme, working with people in the asylum system by providing high quality advice and guidance and delivering group pre-employability workshops. The post holder will play a pivotal role from the start of this programme in its first year of delivery.

You will prepare participants for employment (where appropriate) and help them to achieve their chosen training and employment objectives. You will work to a variety of performance targets based on the progression outcomes of participants such as successful delivery of workshops, completion of training courses, volunteering, and achieving and sustaining paid employment.

The STEP Employment Advisor will work remotely, and can be based anywhere in the UK, however you will need to be able to travel regularly for community outreach, engagement and workshop delivery. 

About you

We are looking for candidates who have:

• Proven experience or knowledge within the refugee employment sector
• Understanding of the issues and challenges faced by unemployed people seeking asylum when accessing pre-employment activities or employment (when they have the right to work)
• Experience of providing advice and guidance and supervising a caseload of clients
• Experience of designing and facilitating group workshops
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Good IT skills (CRM Database, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Cross-cultural sensitivity and the ability to work with clients with varying levels of English
• Competency in a second language desirable e.g. Arabic, Amharic, Dari, Farsi, Pashto, Tigrinya, Ukrainian

Set up in 2003, the London regional delegation focuses on pursuing humanitarian diplomacy and facilitating ICRC operations in the field. About the role

The Head of Policy and Humanitarian Affairs manages a small, dynamic team based in London, who work with colleagues across the delegation and around the world to support its main objectives: (i) to contribute towards enabling ICRC action to protect and assist people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence; (ii) to influence the debate and secure improved decision-making on issues relevant to conflict, humanitarian action and international humanitarian law.

Reporting to, and working as adviser to, the ICRC Head (and Deputy Head) of Delegation, the Head of Policy and Humanitarian Affairs develops and oversees the implementation of the delegation’s policy and humanitarian diplomacy strategy in the UK, ensuring it is in line with the ICRC’s overall strategy. They are a member of ICRC’s global network of policy and humanitarian advisors, interacting regularly with the Policy and Humanitarian Diplomacy Divisions/Units at headquarters as well as with delegations around the world, supporting ICRC’s humanitarian diplomacy and policy dialogue. This is a role which requires working collaboratively and at pace on a wide range of issues relevant to the mandate of the ICRC and its global operations.

The Head of Policy and Humanitarian Affairs works closely with the British Red Cross ensuring optimal impact of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement’s policy and humanitarian diplomacy objectives.

This is an outward facing job, representing the ICRC at public events, with UK Government, Parliament and the wider humanitarian sector.

Person specification (qualifications, skills & experience required)

Essential

• Master’s degree in a relevant subject;
• Strong experience (indicative 10+ years) in humanitarian policy advocacy, diplomacy, conflict analysis and/or a relevant policy position;
• Strong understanding of the UK political and policy environment, with a solid grounding in security, defence and humanitarian issues.
• Knowledge and experience of working in – or with - UK Government, as well as humanitarian/development organizations and think tanks;
• Excellent written and spoken English. French or other second language a plus;
• Proven experience in networking and influencing;
• People management and leadership experience;
• Confirmed analytical, negotiation and presentation skills.

Desirable

• A solid understanding of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement;
• Prior field experience with the ICRC or another humanitarian/development organization;

Further Details

This post is part of a job share and will be offered as part-time (21 hours/ 3 days per week) resident appointment based in our London office. Your job-share partner also works 3 days per week, with one crossover day. The appointment will be offered on an open-ended contract from the beginning of October 2024 (or as soon as a start date is feasible).

The Head of Policy post receives a salary at C2 ICRC London grade and it will be pro-rata for this 3 day part time role (60% FTE); the salary scale below is indicative of the full time equivalent (100%)

Our Crisis Cafes offer a safe, welcoming and non-judgmental environment outside of normal working hours for those who feel in mental distress or crisis.

About the Role

The role will involve assessing needs and offering one to one support to service users to enable them to begin the process of improving their mental health and wellbeing and to providing clarity on services and pathways available in the area. The role will be part of a larger Crisis Café team made up of Crisis Recovery Workers, Crisis Peer Support Workers, Team Leaders and volunteers.

Service Delivery

• Deliver crisis focussed 1:1s and ensure outcomes which supports individuals experiencing a mental health crisis in Biggleswade & Central Bedfordshire, in line with Mind BLMK’s agreed crisis service and requirements as well as contract requirements.
• Assessing need and suitability for the service in line with the access to services process, and undertaking 1:1s.
• Contribute to maintaining an effective volunteer workforce for the service in line with Mind BLMK’s HR policies, procedures and guidance (workload planning and support).
• Carry out Cash Handling, Health and Safety and Data Collection responsibilities as directed by the Team Leader in line with Mind BLMK’s policies, procedures, requirements and guidance.

About the role:

This role is based at Lancaster Police Station. This role involves regular travel and due to the location, a driving license and access to a vehicle is considered an essential requirement. As an IDVA working on Operation Provide you will:

• Work with the Police safeguarding team to identify high risk victims of domestic abuse.
• Check internal systems to check if victims are known or open to internal services and liaise with same.
• Conduct joint visits with the police to victims who are at serious risk of harm to provide independent information about their rights and options to enable them to keep safe from harm.
• Assess their needs and develop a bespoke safety and support plan
• Provide information and advocacy around the criminal justice process
• Liaise with internal and external agencies in order to keep the victim safe from harm and address their needs.

You will need:

• IDVA accreditation and/or have considerable relevant experience in supporting victims of domestic abuse
• a comprehensive understanding of domestic abuse & the impact on victims & families
• knowledge of risk assessment, safety planning & risk management
• an understanding of Safeguarding issues & the legal responsibilities surrounding these

We also provide peer support services to ensure people affected by dementia are able to meet others in a similar situation, access the support they need whilst enjoying meaningful and engaging activities.  As a Dementia Adviser you will facilitate, organise and promote these peer support services, whilst bringing an enthusiastic and positive approach.

This role is part of the Wiltshire Adult Domestic Abuse Team, which provides support to people and their families who have been impacted by domestic abuse.

Working within the team, you will work directly with victims of domestic abuse, providing them with support and educational sessions to increase their safety and the safety of any of their children.

Offering support to standard to medium risk victims of domestic abuse, key tasks will include:

• To provide high quality, person centred, trauma informed support to people impacted by domestic abuse.
• Being part of a team providing a whole family approach.
• Support people to increase their personal safety.
• Support people’s personal empowerment to take control of their lives.
• Undertaking risk assessments and collaboratively developing safety plans.
• Give practical and emotional support to families who are experiencing domestic abuse in the community.
• Deliver and facilitate groups for people impacted by domestic abuse, including the Inspiring Families Course (including evening delivery where required).

You will work closely with Children’s Social Care, offering professional consultation regarding domestic abuse cases and attending team meetings where required. You will work closely with local Social Workers to increase the safety and stabilisation of people, by offering specialist domestic abuse educational sessions to the non-abusing parent, either in a one-to-one or group setting.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide a high-quality, person centred, trauma informed service and empowerment to those who need it.
• Manage a caseload of standard to medium risk cases, providing virtual and face to face support.
• Complete an initial assessment of individuals’ and families' needs with corresponding support plans to meet these needs so, preventing escalation of difficulties.
• Triage new referrals, ensuring comprehensive safety and safeguarding advice and guidance on initial contact.
• Undertake regular caseload review meetings with individuals and families during home and community visits to ensure they are fully supported to meet their personal goals.
• Be responsible for running groups, adhering to a clear manual and supporting second facilitators.
• Complete pre and post group assessments.
• Attend regular meetings with Children’s Social Care and offer professional consultation to Social Workers regarding cases involving domestic abuse.
• Assess, manage and review risks to service users, colleagues and self, including the use of the DASH Risk Assessment, and professional judgement.

Work Pattern: This role is being offered at a minimum of 14 hours (2 days) per week and a maximum of 21 hours (3 days) per week, to be worked during office hours Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm.
Location: Hybrid, St Philip’s, Bristol City. Working from home is available for this role. On-site working will be required at our animal rescue centre, we request a minimum office attendance of one day per week for the first three months of employment. Following this, a minimum of one day a month office attendance will be required, with flexibility to work on-site if charity business requires it.

About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with previous experience of making successful applications to trusts, foundations and other grant making organisations for a charity.  The responsibilities include researching potential funding sources, writing compelling grant proposals and maintaining relationships with funders to support the charity’s mission in helping, healing and homing Bristol’s vulnerable animals.

You will work closely with colleagues across the charity, learning about the different services we provide to both animals and pet owners and shaping projects for funding from your findings.

In particular you will:

• Research, identify and prioritise applications to trusts and foundations for which Bristol A.R.C. meets the funding criteria.
• Analyse the trusts and foundations landscape to enable the charity to fully understand the scope for potential funding
• Work with colleagues across the charity to create strong cases for support and shape projects for funding across all areas of our work. Ensure that we are maximising our trust and foundation funding potential by highlighting the lesser-known areas of our work and wide range of beneficiaries (animals and human).
• Write and submit high quality, targeted funding applications, including multi-year funding requests where appropriate.
• Maintain the trusts and foundations prospect and funder records on our fundraising database.
• Work with the Finance Department to ensure trusts and foundation income is administered correctly.

You will have a creative approach to your work, ensuring that we are maximising our funding potential by highlighting the lesser-known areas of our work and our wide range of beneficiaries both animal and human.

You will take a strategic approach, prioritising your workload to ensure you are balancing your time between researching potential funders, making high quality, targeted funding applications and stewarding organisations who have already supported our work.

What we are looking for in you:

• Proven experience and success in developing and drafting proposals and/or reports raising funds from trusts, foundations and other grant making organisations.
• Experience of research techniques applicable to identifying funding opportunities and framing funding bids.
• Able to convey complex information accurately, succinctly and engagingly.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent IT skills, including strong understanding of databases.
• Resilience and ability to use own initiative, manage competing demands, prioritise workload and meet deadlines.

The charity provides a range of services to support their clients to learn new skills, find work and rebuild positive social networks. They are now recruiting for a temporary, Assessment Worker to join their team, initially for 12-16 weeks.

As one of their Assessment Workers, you will work alongside a team of 3 others to deliver support and advice intervention to users of their Gateway Centre. The Gateway Centre provides support to individuals who are homeless and/or rough sleeping, or at risk of becoming homeless. As part of the Assessment team, you will conduct assessments on a drop-in and appointment basis to identify needs, signpost to relevant services both internal and external to the organisation, as well as provide longer term case management for those with complex needs.

To be successful, you will have demonstrable experience of delivering intervention to individuals who are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless and/or rough sleeping who present with varying support needs, including those with complex issues. You will have previous experience of working with clients in a trauma-informed way combined with the ability to produce and approach referrals, needs and risk assessment and building positive reports with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders. Knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting homeless or rough sleeping individuals, and vulnerable adult groups is essential.

Main purpose of the job

FearFree delivers services across the South West for victims, children and perpetrators of domestic abuse and victims of sexual violence. We provide responsive, victim focused and trauma informed support, and this post will be fundamental to ensuring service users, stakeholders and partners experience this in our daily delivery.

Working within experienced and committed teams, the Behaviour Change Advisor will:

· Complete specialist risk assessments (including Respect RIC) and develop personalised safety and support plans.

· Deliver one to one specialist behaviour change interventions.

· Co-facilitate short term and long term group work.

· Promote the service externally and ensure our interventions are accessible.

· Provide proactive, trauma informed and holistic support, with a focus on increasing victim safety and reducing the risk posed by a perpetrator.

· Work within a multi-agency framework to effect change, manage risk and ensure safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children is paramount.

· Offer professional consultancy, training and advice to other agencies on working with perpetrators.

There is a requirement for evening working – approximately once per week to deliver group work interventions.

Key responsibilities:

• To join the highly effective teams across FearFree to provide Behaviour Change support to perpetrators of domestic abuse.
• To reduce the risk of reoffending and of harm posed by domestic abuse perpetrators and increase the safety and wellbeing of victims and children.
• To provide perpetrators with an understanding of domestic abuse, healthy relationships and communication, the impact on victims and children and support them to use new techniques and strategies to change their behaviour.

• Support other agencies in the identification and referral of domestic abuse issues via promotion of service and institutional advocacy.
• Ensure all referrals are clearly logged on our database and all case records are kept fully updated, according to FearFree policies and procedures.
• Attend and engage with case reviews, risk reviews and Treatment Management as required.
• Work closely with Partner Safety Worker and Children’s workers to ensure the safety of the victim and children and a holistic view of risk.
• Manage a caseload ensuring each client receives the appropriate service individual to their risk and needs.
• Support the empowerment of the client.
• Engage with case management supervision.
