We are looking for support workers to join our Learning Disabilities team. Support workers are part of a flexible team working with adults who have learning disabilities, who use the Bede Centre in Bermondsey SE16.

We work in a person-centred way to enable people with learning disabilities to become as independent as possible, to make their own choices and to be fully part of the community.  We do this by supporting them to develop and maintain skills, try new opportunities, make and maintain friendships and spend their time in ways valued by them and the community. We work in partnership with other local charities, to provide as many social, volunteering and work opportunities as we can to the people that come to Bede.

Our core service runs Monday-Friday, 9:30am-3:30pm, and we also support other projects and social clubs in the late afternoons. We currently have the following shifts available, from 9:30am to 3:30pm on each day:

- Tuesdays x 2

- Wednesdays

- Thursdays

- Fridays

Are you an experienced and enthusiastic Safeguarding professional, with a strong interest in protecting adults at risk and children from harm, within the wider Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Community?

Based within our Helpline Services team, you’ll have responsibility for:

• Responding to concerns reported by staff and volunteers

The Senior Support Worker will coordinate and lead the Bromley by Bow Centre’s day care service for adults with a range of abilities and needs, including those with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autism, dementia and mental ill health.

The role will oversee the day-to-day running of the service and lead a small team of support staff, workshop tutors, volunteers and student placements. They will be responsible for ensuring all current and newly referred individuals receive high-quality, person-centred support. They will lead and support training and development within the team and provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to staff.

To ensure the Senior Support Worker establishes and maintains contact and involvement with those accessing the service, an element of their role will be direct support provision. They will be responsible for preparing and maintaining up to date support plans and coordinating the provision of high-quality, personalised care designed around individual abilities, needs and choices.

Central to the role will be the development of activities in arts and creativity and in building life skills, including healthy eating, physical activity, money management and digital skills, promoting independence, wellbeing and inclusion within the community.

Main duties & Responsibilities

Securing New Corporate Partnership Business

·To support in the creation of a new corporate fundraising strategy and subsequently implement this

JOB PURPOSE

Key Responsibilities

Strategic HR Leadership:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive People & Skills Strategy aligned with the charity’s mission and goals.
• Develop the annual budget and manage expenditure for all areas of responsibility. 
• Lead the creation of a positive organisational culture, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion at all levels.
• Advise the CEO and senior leadership on HR issues, trends, and best practices.
• Champion staff well-being, engagement, and development, ensuring a culture of continuous learning and growth.
• Represent the charity at external HR and humanitarian forums, conferences, and events.
• Work closely with the Board of Trustees and lead in the management of the Board’s Remuneration Committee.

Recruitment and Talent Management

• Oversee the recruitment and onboarding process, ensuring the charity attracts diverse and qualified candidates.
• Develop talent retention strategies, ensuring the charity is an employer of choice in the humanitarian sector.
• Implement learning and development programmes to nurture leadership, enhance skills, and ensure compliance with sector-specific training (e.g., fundraising / line management skills, safeguarding, data protection).

Performance and HR Compliance

• Oversee performance management systems, ensuring they are fair, transparent, and supportive of staff development.
• Ensure compliance with UK employment legislation, including employment contracts, grievances, disciplinary procedures, and workplace policies.
• Provide oversight of health and safety regulations, safeguarding standards, and risk management across all organisational levels.
• Responsible for maintaining and continuousy improving the charity’s HR software system and other HR platforms.
• Ensure compliance with data protection laws for all HR related information.
• Use data to generate insights, inform decision-making and improve processes.

Employee Engagement and Culture

• Lead on creating a culture of collaboration, empathy, and shared commitment to the charity’s values.
• Design and implement employee engagement initiatives to enhance job satisfaction and motivation.
• Ensure effective communication channels between leadership and staff, including regular staff surveys and feedback mechanisms.

Key Skills and Experience

• Proven experience in a senior HR leadership role in the UK charity sector.
• Solid understanding of UK employment law and most recent best practices.  A commitment to continuous professional development in this area.
• Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with experience implementing organisational change in this area.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex employee relations issues sensitively and effectively.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire at all levels of the organisation.
• Level 7 CIPD qualification (or equivalent) highly desirable.
• Experience working in international agencies or NGOs highly desirable. 
• Understanding of refugee issues and/or experience working with vulnerable communities would be a significant advantage.

IT Support Engineer

Location: Hybrid working part London Office (Islington, London) part home-working. The post holder will work a minimum of two days a week in the office (with some weeks when three days will be required).

Salary: £28,675 per annum

The postholder will play a key role in a busy fundraising team, responsible for maximising engagement, support and income generation through third-party and hospice-led bespoke challenge events. As part of the role, you will lead the charge in executing a variety of unique and high-impact fundraising activities – ensuring that every event delights our supporters. You will create thoughtful stewardship plans to maximise on experience, lifetime engagement and income generated. You will also undertake post event data analysis for every event, reporting against KPIs, costs against budget and capturing learnings.

To be successful in the role of Challenge Events Fundraiser, you will need:

• At least one year experience in a similar role, with experience in a working environment of interfacing with a variety of people and delivering excellent customer care.
• Experience of working to targets and identifying opportunities for development.
• An understanding of the hospice and the services that it provides, with understanding of the importance of excellent donor care processes.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Community Fundraising Officer based in London.
We offer hybrid working with a minimum of one day per week at our London Head Office 
(close to Liverpool Street, Moorgate and Old Street stations).

Our charity
The Sick Children’s Trust is the charity that provides a welcoming ‘Home from Home’ 
where families with a sick child in hospital can stay. But we’re more than bricks and mortar, 
our friendly, caring staff are there to support families when they really need it. 
Hospital can be a lonely and scary place for anyone, but especially a child. Providing 
around 3,500 families a year with somewhere to stay together just minutes from the 
hospital means that they can be by their sick child’s side and have one less thing to worry 
about.

The role 
This is a wide-ranging community fundraising role. Activities include supporting family 
fundraising and third-party events in the south such as The Royal Parks Half Marathon and 
The Brighton Marathon. You will be required to forge, develop and grow new and existing 
fundraising opportunities and relationships with local businesses, community organisations 
and schools.
Key to this, is the provision of a sensitive and effective supporter journey for new and 
existing supporters.
Also, you will work collaboratively with the fundraising department and the 
communications and marketing team to ensure effective integration of campaigns and 
activities.
You will actively cultivate and recruit new and existing supporters and volunteers to 
participate in a range of third-party events and support the organisation. 
You will lead on Supermarket charitable schemes, including research, support with copy 
and applications to reach targets set for this area of income.
 
About you 
Ideally you have successful community fundraising experience including provision of a good 
supporter journey.
You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills. You will equally be as 
comfortable supporting families who stay with us who want to fundraise, as you are 
presenting to a room full of students, or potential volunteers.
You have good organisational skills and are comfortable working to objectives and targets. 
You are able to work with a level of autonomy and innovation to develop your fundraising 
portfolio and to increase our profile particularly in the areas close to our houses.
Ultimately this is a great role for anyone who loves community fundraising and 
understands that no two days are the same.
An enhanced DBS check for this role is required.
