About the role
We are currently seeking a Welfare Caseworker, with experience within a social work, advocacy or social welfare setting, to join our Charity wide Welfare Services team.
You will be joining our team to provide welfare advice, information and support services to the Fire & Rescue Community. To carry out assessments of need and implement cost effective solutions to meet service users needs and improve quality of life, empowering individuals and families to achieve mental, physical and social wellbeing throughout their lives. If you are looking to develop your skills in a forward thinking, responsive sphere of health and social care this is an excellent opportunity.
Working within a national team you will undertake assessments of need that assist recovery and improve quality of life for members of the Fire and Resource Services Community. You will create individually tailored packages of support which respond to the needs of the service users, who may be experiencing unforeseen circumstances in respect to poverty, ill-health and disability needs. Most of your cases will be managed digitally, though some travel to visit service users is required (and may be facilitated through the occasional night away from home).
This role is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
About you
You will need experience of undertaking holistic and recovery focused assessments, and planning person-centred support, as this role works collaboratively within a multi professional team.
To be successful in the role, you will have:
- Previous experience working within an adult social welfare setting with a broad knowledge and skill base
- A working knowledge of welfare benefits, social care legislation, regulations and guidance and statutory provision. Evidence of application in a practical setting
- Demonstrated experience in maintaining accurate and confidential records, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
- Experience of data collection (outcome and experience measures)
- An NVQ Level 3 in Advice and Guidance or Health and Social Care for adults (or equivalent)
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications

About the role
The role will involve playing a pivotal role in to help deliver on Individual Giving’s ambitious programme as you seek to maximise income opportunities which will help more people and families secure a safe home. Day-to-day, you’ll work alongside a Direct Marketing Manager to support and lead on exceptional fundraising campaigns and projects.
Your challenge will be to make sure each campaign builds strong supporter relationships and long-term commitment to Shelter. We’ll also rely on you to help develop our F2F fundraising programme to create innovative new ways to fundraise for Shelter and work directly with our F2F fundraising teams to train, monitor and enhance performance.
And, when it comes to helping deliver on our Individual Giving strategy, working with teams in IG to increase lifetime value of cash, regular giving, and lottery supporters, managing budgets or working on new products and propositions, again, we’ll count on you.
About you
Passionate about providing outstanding supporter experiences and face-to-face fundraising as a direct marketing channel, you’ll also need a real enthusiasm for motivating and teaching others about Shelter’s work. A proactive forward thinker, you have a keen eye for detail, are used to working in matrix teams, great at building relationships and a skilled communicator who enjoys sharing knowledge with others. What’s more, you’re a confident decision maker who’s eager to learn more about the F2F fundraising industry and Shelter as a whole.
Experience of face-to-face fundraising would be particularly useful, while an interest to learn more about project management and development is key. Someone who knows how to utilise insight, including the motivations, interests and behaviours of supporters or customers to guide decisions, you’re used to optimising and reviewing campaigns and using data to interpret, analyse and convey results. Equally important, you’re willing to challenge the status quo and introduce new ideas, methods and processes and to critique campaigns and materials to assess and improve.

The UK Humanitarian Innovation Hub (UKHIH) is looking to recruit a Communications and Engagement Manager for a Maternity Cover for up to 1 year.
In this role you will have the opportunity to lead processes and activities in support of the design and delivery of the UK Humanitarian Innovation Hub’s (UKHIH) global communications and engagement strategy under the direction and guidance of the UKHIH Director.
The role will require you to have strong campaign and project management skills and a passion for driving the conversation around humanitarian research and innovation by delivering integrated multi-channel communications campaigns to engage the key stakeholders and drive impact around our work.
The role also leads UKHIH’s convening work – bringing together stakeholders (e.g., innovators, academics, and humanitarians) through a range of mechanisms to promote and facilitate collaborations that focus on new and improved approaches, processes, and systems that make humanitarian action more effective.
The UKHIH Communications and Engagement Manager will work closely with Elrha’s communications team to align communications as part of a broader organisational development process and strategy, contributing to ongoing communications efforts for both Elrha and UKHIH during a period of strategic change.
Your application will need to demonstrate:
- Experience of planning and delivering multi-channel communications strategies in a way that is timely, targeted, impactful and ethical.
- Experience in the international development or humanitarian sector, including an awareness of humanitarian issues and the way that the humanitarian system operates in terms of relevant media, networks, and organisations.
- Excellent track record of Experience of managing external communications suppliers and agencies.
- Experience supporting diverse teams in the development of communication and engagement strategies and capacity development.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and develop creative content across digital, print and other mediums.
- An understanding of transitioning brands through organisational change processes.
- Experience with event management including webinars, round tables, conference events, workshops and networking events.

About the role
The newly-created role of Digital Content & Campaigns Manager will sit within the National Communications Team to support the delivery of key charity and federation-wide objectives.
