We are looking for a new member of the team to lead our approach to reporting to our funders and monitoring and evaluating the impact of our portfolio of activities.
The Role
This is a new, but vital role with two major components. First, this role will lead on reporting to the Academy’s primary funders, in particular the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT).
This will require gathering an overview of a very wide range of Academy activity and summarising it concisely in a way that reinforces our strong, trusted relationships with our funders.
Second, the role will lead on our culture of continuous improvement in monitoring and evaluation across the Academy, such that data and insight is used both to improve particular activities and to evolve our portfolio for greatest distinctive impact. These insights will also be an important evidence base for our future fundraising and a key input into how the Academy evolves to address its strategic vision of harnessing the power of engineering to support a sustainable society and an inclusive economy that works for everyone.
The range of the Academy’s work across talent and diversity, innovation, policy and engagement will mean that the role holder will work broadly across the whole organisation and must be confident and highly effective in engaging with experts across a wide range of activities and encouraging them on improving monitoring and evaluation practice.
The role holder must also be confident engaging with strategic leaders and supporting them to use evidence to make decisions on where to focus effort and resources. The role is structured to be flexible to be held between 0.6 and 1.0 FTE with exact responsibilities depending on working time of the successful candidate.

Location
Our light, spacious head office is based in a fantastic location in central London with views over St James’s Park and close to the West End. We operate hybrid, flexible working practices with a baseline for office-based working of a mandatory weekly team day plus further days each week as required for the role and the Academy.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role will combine three core elements: (1) ensuring coordination of SteelWatch communications activities, across all our multiple initiatives and timezones, ensuring great content, targeted reach, timeliness, coherence of message and coordinated plans; (2) ongoing and surge delivery of comms products and messages, such as media outreach, social media, thought pieces, particularly in Europe/Africa and sometimes US timezone. This will align with delivery of comms work in Japan/Asia led by colleagues in the region. (3) sharpening our communications strategy, our targets, and our ability to deliver our messages to the right people, shaped jointly with our Asia/Pacific based comms strategist.
The role requires coordination across the small and growing comms team, which is diverse in terms of experience level, region and expertise. It also requires hands-on delivery in your region/timezone and based on your own specialist skills. Media engagement is currently a gap we need to fill and an ideal candidate will lead and deliver our media work, as well as coordinating our wider comms. If the successful candidate excels in other strengths but not media, then we - and you - will need to build the team differently in terms of future recruits and consultants.
Responsibilities:
Coordination of the communication outputs and comms team resources

Ensure coordination and coherence of the overall SteelWatch editorial and content calendar, with co-management of comms planning, team meetings, and ongoing communications outputs.

Design the communication strategy and a range of creative outputs for our corporate campaigns, particularly the ones focused on Europe-based companies, in line with campaign’s theory of change.

Develop communications materials to shift the dominant narrative of the steel industry which may include data visualisation, rankings, storytelling etc.

Build and maintain strong relations with journalists in key media and trade media outlets, manage a database of journalists, and ensure regular flows of news/information to establish SteelWatch as a credible voice in steel decarbonisation.

Job Purpose
Working closely with the Chair of the Board of Trustees, the Chief Executive will provide leadership and operation direction to Age Concern Luton, Working with the Senior Management Team (SMT) they will be responsible for developing and implementing the agreed strategy and achieving the business plans of the organisation, by effectively managing and developing the resources available to the organisation. Main Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Work with the Board in developing a strategy for the organisation.

About the role.
As Chief Executive and Finance Officer (CEFO), you will provide strategic leadership, oversight, and governance for the entire organisation. Reporting to the Chair of Trustees, this combined role will ensure high leadership in charity compliance, meet the needs of the services across transportation and retail, and be accountable for all financial aspects across the organisation.
The CEFO will be responsible for auditing, reviewing monthly management accounts, planning the business annually, budget setting, financial analysis, trajectory tracking, strategy development, and delivering the strategy and key objectives agreed upon with the Chair of Trustees annually.
Focusing on Community Transport's mission, vision, and values, you will empower and motivate a skilled and high-performing staff and senior management team and foster external partnerships to enhance services. The CEFO will also manage organisational assets, implement marketing strategies, and cultivate a positive workplace culture for staff and volunteers.

Reporting to the Chair of the Board, the Chief Executive is responsible for:
- Providing strategic leadership and delivering the strategic plans agreed by the Board.
- Supporting the Board to fulfil its legal obligations for the management and administration of Devon Community Foundation (DCF).
- Supporting the residents of Devon by working with partners, influencing policy to benefit the county and delivering impact to the community predominantly through grant making and research.
- Working with voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector organisations to champion their work and develop solutions to local challenges.
- Managing and developing the financial resources for DCF and to support the VCSE sector by growing the endowment and other fund income.
- Working with donors and philanthropists to enhance the impact of their giving.

The successful candidate will be working to help us reach more people with our services and grow the audience of people who want to support the charity with their time, money, voice, and donations. You will be responsible for:
- Leading, inspiring and developing the Marketing and Communications teams to achieve a step change in our performance and exceed ambitious reach, engagement and share of voice targets.
- Fostering a culture of innovation and organisational collaboration, to drive our Marketing & Communications strategy, creating brand and PR campaigns that engage our target audiences and elevate our cause.
- Developing a long-term plan, including investment and measurement of returns, to deliver integrated and relevant content to build spontaneous awareness and brand buzz, optimising integration with fundraising.
- Working with the Marketing and Communications Heads of Department and media contacts to develop and implement PR and media programmes that will build our share of voice, grow our reputation in end-of-life care and help reposition Marie Curie as the 'end of life' charity
- Managing media queries, sometimes in high-pressure situations, maintaining the Marie Curie position with statements and Q&As and ensuring appropriate spokespeople are media trained at all times.
- Representing the Charity at the highest levels, engaging credibly, dynamically and charismatically with key stakeholders.
Key Criteria:
- Established experience working in a strategic leadership role within both marketing and PR, managing multiple and complex functions.
- Demonstrable experience of leading and shaping strategies to increase audience reach and relevance and to translate strategies into operational plans.
- Proven track record in delivering growth in media relations and/or marketing metrics.
- Exceptional leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate people internally and externally.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the credibility, confidence and stature to interact with influential people at the highest levels.
- Excellent written skills with the ability to distil complex information into clear and coherent board reports and presentations.
- Experience working within the charity industry would be an advantage but is not essential.

Our client is looking for a Head of Customer Voice to lead the way in championing our customers, ensuring their voice is continuously heard and acted upon.
As the Head of Customer Voice, you’ll drive strategic customer insight and continuous improvement. Building relationships with key stakeholders will be key to effecting change and improving customer experience.
You’ll have a proven track record in a similar role, operating at a senior level to influence change along with experience of presenting data and insight to a variety of audiences including Board level.
Experience of leading on corporate performance frameworks with the ability to interpret Government and Regulatory Policy and guidance is a must, coupled with previous experience of managing data and insight teams.
Experience in the Social Housing sector and knowledge of Ombudsman and regulatory requirements would also be beneficial.
