The Parish of Mother of Unfailing Help, which comprises Leeds Cathedral and the Church of the Holy Rosary, Chapeltown, is looking to recruit a dynamic and experienced individual to play a key role in the running of this busy Cathedral Parish.

The role  will include some evening and weekend work.

The post holder will play a key role in establishing the operational infrastructure necessary to support the running of a wide range of activities at Leeds Cathedral, Cathedral House, Wheeler Hall, Holy Rosary Church and the newly refurbished Holy Rosary Community Room.

This is a new role whichrecognises the evolving demands of parish life and the advantages of introducing lay involvement in the operational management of our parish structure. The role requires excellent people management skills and will have day-to-day line management responsibility for a small team. It has a particular focus on facilities management and a key aspect of the role will be improving income generation from Wheeler Hall and the Holy Rosary Community Room as well as the day-to-day administration of the Parish, including the parish finances and administration associated with the Sacramental Programmes. The role promises to be very rewarding and would suit an applicant who is looking for the variety of a broad role, who thrives on collaborating with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and who enjoys taking ownership of tasks. The Parish is funded primarily through the offertory collection (donations) from parishioners. Some specific works may be grant-funded. We are part of the registered charity of the Diocese of Leeds. It is therefore essential that the postholder is mindful of the good stewardship of parish resources, is comfortable working to tight budgets and seeking value for money at all times.

The primary location of work will be Leeds Cathedral, which as well as being the Mother Church of the Diocese of Leeds, is home to the celebrated Diocese of Leeds School Singing Programme and Keyboard Studies Programme. This makes the Cathedral a particularly busy and often musical place to work!

The Fundraising Officer will make a key contribution to the generation of sustainable funding through corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations. The role will support initiatives to increase the organisation’s income by expanding our pool of donors, improving retention of current donors and maximizing fundraising opportunities.

Purpose of Role

To support the Head of Fundraising and Head of Trusts to develop and deliver effective income generation and partner relationship management. Collaborating also with the wider WasteAid team to develop quality funding proposals and fundraising assets. To research, explore and initiate new fundraising approaches with potential new funders.

Income Generation

• Support the senior fundraising team to research and develop potential opportunities for maximising income generation
• Support the senior team to identify and secure new supporters/partners and ensure effective engagement with established supporters. This includes:

- Diverse Outreach

- Proposal Development

- Participation in pitch sessions / donor meetings

• Rolling stewardship and relationship management for a number of potential and current donors. Including coordinating staff fundraising /other donor activity and admin to support the partnership

Raising WasteAid’s Profile

• Promote the aims and objectives of WasteAid, increasing public awareness and support
• Ensure project donor partnership plans are in place and implemented in liaison with the project teams and WasteAid’s PR function

Marketing and Communication

• Develop and maintain appropriate fundraising materials to attract donors and support compelling applications for funding

Purpose

Research Module Leader

JOB PURPOSE

To lead and manage the Research Module for the MA in Counselling (MAC) year 3 and for the MA in Therapeutic Counselling and Psychotherapy (MATCP) year 3 which share the same module.

To chair the Research Ethics Committee which oversees the process of gaining ethical approval for all Waverley Abbey College (WAC) programmes (MAC, MATCP & MA SF), and process all requests for ethical approval from WAC staff, students, and any external researchers wishing to recruit WAC staff or students.

To ensure that the distinctive character of Waverley Abbey College’s counselling pedagogical frameworks are maintained, in relation to research ethics and validated programme criteria for research.

KEY TASKS

The temporary Research Module Leader and REC Chairperson will oversee the following tasks:

• To be responsible to lead the Research Module for the MAC and MATCP programmes ensuring the successful delivery of its teaching, learning and assessment strategies.

To be responsible for:

• Collaboratively working alongside MAC and MATCP supervisors/ tutors in the planning and implementation of the successful delivery of all facets of the research module, and especially in the supervision and support of research students and research supervisors, as outlined in the module narratives of the validated programmes.
• Ensuring that all research proposals are reviewed by research supervisors/ tutors and meet with the ethical and legal obligations as outlined in the Waverley Abbey College Research Ethics Committee Policy and Procedures and module learning materials, including issues of risk assessment, and rigour of empirical qualitative research.
• Ensuring that supervisors with relevant research and clinical expertise are assigned to supervise topics chosen by students.
• Oversee any student or research supervisory issues that arise in the delivery and completion of the research module.
• Overseeing how supervision enables student progression through the stages of research: i.e. proposals, ethics and risk assessments, analysing data, determining findings, and in the final written production of a dissertation that meets all requirements for successful submission and assessment as per the assessment criteria.

Maintain fair systems for student assessments, including:

• Maintaining standards in marking and grading of research proposals and dissertations
• Ensuring supervision/ tutorial support and oversight of students’ personal development

To support, encourage, develop and manage the research supervision/ tutorial team. Responsibilities include:

• Selection of supervisors as required, in consultation with the Academic Dean or University representative

Supported by the Academic Dean, to be responsible for the welfare, spiritual well-being and psychological safety of the research students, within the parameters of the research module. Responsibilities include:

• Offering pastoral support, dealing with student complaints and grievances, and handling any cases of academic misconduct, in line with Waverley Abbey College policies and procedures

To be responsible for the structure and oversight of the Research Ethics Committee. Responsibilities include:

• Overseeing the obligations for ethical research by all WAC students, staff and any external researchers working with WAC staff or students, including the MAC, MATCP, and MA SF.
• Chairing the Research Ethics Committee and agenda setting of meetings.
• Reviewing research proposals in the light of ethical and legal guidelines and best clinical practice with other research supervisors.
• Determining required revisions of proposals in the light of ethical guidelines.
• Making collaborative decisions regarding which research proposals may be given ethical approval and which ones either need revising, adapting, or not undertaking.
• Communicating decisions in writing in a timely manner to students, ensuring that all required changes and conditions are succinctly communicated.

It's all about making sure every step of their journey aligns perfectly with our funding contracts.

Responsible for a group of young people, for one-on-one support and guidance or just gently pointing them in the right direction. You'll be on a mission to assist with travel expenses and find clever ways to handle their other commitments. You'll champion their support and learning needs with employers, and you'll be the ultimate liaison, working alongside partners like the job centre to ensure that nothing stands in the way of their success!

You’ll also be the guiding light for our delivery partners and service providers as we want them to deliver the best experience and outcomes for our young people. High-fives all around! Roll up your sleeves and deliver employability sessions directly to our incredible young people. You'll also help our Delivery Partners and volunteers do the same, both in person and virtually through our trusty MS Teams. When we're doing things face-to-face, you’ll need to hit the road and be there in person to help with programme delivery or programme visits to make sure all is running as smoothly as possible.

And if that’s not enough to keep you busy, you’ll also be keeping meticulous records of information and data on our young people, volunteers, and partners. It's all about making sure every step of their journey is accurately reflected in our systems so that it complies with our funding contracts.

You'll be the guiding light for a caseload of young people, helping them successfully launch their business ideas and work towards those vital business start targets. The HR Advisor will serve as the primary point of contact for all operational HR matters at The Brilliant Club. This role is crucial in delivering an inclusive and people-focused HR service across the organisation, aligning with our values and strategic objectives. Working closely with the HR Director, the HR Advisor will manage the administration associated with the employee lifecycle, from recruitment to offboarding, and provide first-line support for employee relations issues, including performance management and flexible working. The HR Advisor will also be responsible for managing the HR system Personio, ensuring accurate data entry and reporting. Additionally, the HR Advisor will engage in project work to support strategic initiatives led by the HR Director. The role requires excellent relationship-building, listening, and communication skills to effectively engage with employees and stakeholders at all levels.
