Citizens Advice Hammersmith and Fulham (CAHF) is the leading provider of generalist advice services in Hammersmith and Fulham. We help approximately 16000 people each year with free, confidential, and impartial advice on a wide range of issues.
Our Assessors are the first point of contact for members of the local community, who contact us by phone, in person via email. Assessors establish what the client’s issue is, ensure that all relevant information is collected. Provide information and advice where possible and identify the best next step. Ensuring clients are directed to the appropriate CAHF project, or external agency.
This role requires a passion for working with people, helping them through challenging situations.
Applicants must demonstrate the following,
- organised focused approach, with ability to accurately record information
- experience of delivering assessment on the main enquiry areas (WelfareBenefits, Debt, Housing and Employment)
- Have an ability to use sensitive listening and questioning skills to get to the root of the issues and empower clients, whilst maintaining structure and control
- competent IT skills, especially the ability to use databases and navigate websites
CAHF Assessors are supported by our supervisory team and have access to our wealth of resources. Assessors are supported to develop the skills needed to succeed and thrive in the role.

The fundraising team generates more than £10m every year, around half of which comes through gifts left to the charity as legacies. A passion for hospice care and a proven track record of developing and maintaining strong relationships is also key to this role.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- This role is required to lead, plan, develop and deliver the legacy fundraising strategy in line with agreed targets within the fundraising team.
- To build, manage and nurture relationships with supporters and potential legators.
- To create a sustainable legacy pipeline for St Christopher’s and to ensure that legacy increases and continues to be the lifeblood of our voluntary income.
- Managing the Legacy Administration Officer and overseeing all legacy administration activity to optimise legacy income and ensure all gifts in wills left to the hospice are managed in accordance with relevant legislation and internal practises and maximise legacy income for the hospice.

This is a new role that will be responsible for overseeing the quality, development and evaluation of the Young Citizens’ education offer for children and young people – with a specific focus on resources and training.
The Education and Impact Manager will project manage our work across subject areas (social, democratic and legal education) and across educational phases (mainly primary and secondary). In addition, this role will lead our evaluation processes so we can evidence the impact and outcomes of our work against our theory of change.
Role snapshot:
- Review and develop our educational resources and training offer
- Project manage the delivery of new and updated materials/training and liaise with our internal team as well as external partners in their effective delivery and dissemination
- Oversee their implementation in different settings, writing some personally and using freelance contributors and/or corporate volunteers
- Create and implement an impact measurement framework that feeds into our theory of change and that meets that reporting requirements of our funders and partners

We are looking someone who will thrive in a varied and innovative role as a Project Worker in the Adult and Family Learning team working across our centres in Govan and Maryhill (Glasgow) with frequent travel Craigmillar (Edinburgh). This is a new and exciting team at the charity, focusing on how we can offer additional impactful support in the local communities in which our Scotland centres are based. The Adult and Family Learning team will work in close collaboration with colleagues at the Universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The pilot will focus on supporting the parents, carers and families of young people accessing the centres, with the potential for this to extend to wider adults in the community. As a Project Worker you will deliver the programme and support the Adult and Family Learning Manager to plan and develop activities tailored according to and with an understanding of the different communities in which it will be offered. Working with colleagues based at the three centres, you will provide a range of activities which will support parents and carers to support their children in their learning, develop their own skills and knowledge around employment and education, and provide a range of family learning activities to engage the whole family together.

Some out-of-hours work will be required from time to time. This is a new project and the team will be developing programmes for parents and carers, which may result, for example, in some workshops running during the evening for a set of period of time (with a later start on the day of the workshop).
Programme delivery staff are based at one of our IntoUniversity learning centres and work directly with young people and families on a regular basis. It is therefore not a hybrid role and is based full-time in our centres.
Salary
£27,400 per annum

About the team
It’s an exciting time to be joining Shelter. There’s a lot of change happening following the launch of our new brand, which has re-positioned the organisation and set the base for us to tackle what has grown from a housing crisis to a national emergency. We currently run a network of around 90 community charity shops across the UK - from small boutiques to large furniture shops. Our online offering has grown rapidly over the past two years, with significant turnover during the Christmas peak, success in the launch and promotion of new goods, plus the launch of our secondhand online shop – and we’re planning to expand further in the near future.
About the role
This is a great opportunity not only to see e-commerce in action, but to help deliver an e-commerce strategy, grow Shelter’s sales of second-hand goods and raise income to tackle the housing emergency. Day-to-day, you’ll be instrumental in supporting the E-Commerce Hub Manager and local area shops to maximise the hub’s financial contribution to support the work of Shelter through the effective management of volunteer, stock and premises. We’ll also rely on you to provide efficient warehouse operations and customer order processes for our online shop and help ensure a safe, clean and bright environment in which to work. Put simply, you’ll play a big part in all aspects of our e-commerce operations, including ensuring they’re efficient and delivery focused and that volunteers feel motivated.

About you

Above all, you’re keen to learn while playing your part in helping to tackle a huge social issue.

The Digital Communications Officer will support the delivery of communications, campaigns and marketing elements by developing, implementing, tracking and optimising website and digital communication channels. This includes social media, digital advertising and fundraising, integrated campaigns, SEO, marketing automation, content design and development, website development and maintenance, specific channel selection with alignment for relevant audiences.
