About Us
The Wildlife Trusts are a federation of 46 charities, supported by a central charity, the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts. Together we have over 940,000 members, 32,500 volunteers and 3,400 staff across the UK.
From precious peatlands and wildflower meadows to Britain’s lost rainforests, Wildlife Trusts have restored and care for some of the most special places for wildlife in the UK. We’ve re-wiggled rivers, brought back beavers to the UK and helped thousands of communities take matters into their own hands to bring back nature on their doorsteps. Collectively we manage more than 2,600 nature reserves, operate 123 visitor and education centres and own 29 working farms. We undertake research, we campaign for wildlife and wild places under threat, and we help people access nature.
But we’re not standing still. The next few years will be critical in determining what kind of world we all live in. We need to urgently reverse the loss of wildlife and put nature into recovery at scale if we are to prevent climate and ecological disaster. We have an ambitious new strategy to address this, setting out our bold vision of nature in recovery with many more people taking action for wildlife,.
About You
We are seeking an exceptional major gifts fundraiser to join one of the UK’s most cherished nature charities at an exciting time in our 112-year history. You will be instrumental in expanding our network of high-net-worth individuals. Working closely with our major donor fundraising lead, chief executive, senior leadership team and Wildlife Trust colleagues, you will focus on prospecting and building high-quality, long-lasting relationships, that deliver a step-change for nature’s recovery in the UK.
You will be a confident and engaging major gifts fundraiser, with the ability to express The Wildlife Trusts’ case for support in tackling the nature and climate emergencies, both through our work on nature’s restoration on the ground, and through our influencing, policy and campaigning work. You will be highly experienced in initiating and developing mutually beneficial relationships with individuals to achieve fundraising targets, with a proven track record of securing significant unrestricted funds.

Vacancy: Policy Officer
Reference: ARBPO0125
Location: Based in our Central London office; however, ARB supports a flexible approach to hybrid working.
Contract: Full Time
Salary: £33,440 + excellent benefits
Salary Band: Level 2 Pay Band
Description:
The Architects Registration Board (ARB) is the professional regulator of architects in the UK. We maintain a publicly available Register of architects so anyone using the services of an architect can be confident that they are suitably qualified and are fit to practise. We also set the standards of conduct and practice the profession must meet and take action when any architect falls below them.
Architects play a crucial role in our society because they design the buildings and environments where we live and work. In this role, you’ll help shape how we regulate and improve our understanding of developments in the built environment sector. You’ll be working closely with the rest of our Policy and Communications team and other parts of ARB as you do this.
About the Role
We’re looking for someone with experience of policy development, who can research a topic using a variety of different sources and consider policy approaches towards it. You will need strong writing skills to convey what you think and, ideally, you’ll also have some experience of working on public consultations.
About Us:
ARB is an independent professional regulator, established by Parliament as a statutory body, through the Architects Act, in 1997. We are accountable to government.
- The law gives us a number of core functions:
- To ensure only those who are suitably competent are allowed to practise as architects. We do this by approving the architecture qualifications required to join the Register of architects.
- We maintain a publicly available Register of architects so anyone using the services of an architect can be confident that they are suitably qualified and are fit to practise.
- We set the standards of conduct and practice the profession must meet and take action when any architect falls below the required standards of conduct or competence.
- We set requirements for and monitor the continuous professional development that architects must undertake, to provide assurance to the public about the continuing competence of the profession.
- We protect the legally restricted title ‘architect’.
We want a world in which the built environment inspires those who live and work in it, reflects the needs of society so that people are safe and can live well, and helps to tackle the fundamental challenges our planet faces.
The contribution that regulation can make to this overarching purpose may be small, but we recognise that architects and other professionals in the built environment can achieve their own goals, potential and outcomes only if we are delivering effective regulation.
What we offer in return:
- A friendly and supportive company culture
- Pension and medical cover
- Great holiday allowance, plus an additional day to be used over the Christmas period.
Here at ARB, we are a small and diverse workforce we want to create a genuinely inclusive workplace, where we embrace the differences of all our colleagues and celebrate diversity. We love to see applications from underrepresented groups and welcome applications from individuals, regardless of their background.
Best of luck with your application.
Please submit your application by 16th January 2025, 12pm.
If you are successful in your application, you will be invited to attend a competency-based interview.
Interview dates are expected to be 29th, 30th and 31st January.

Are you the Strategy and Executive Facilitator to work with Sam?
- Do you thrive in a collaborative, open, creative and highly adaptive environment where all forms of intelligence and perspective are valued?
- Do you have an aptitude and ability to effectively support and collaborate with neurodivergent leadership and with someone whose preferred style of working is strongly verbal?
- Can you be a conduit for creative ideas and visions and enable communications, strategy and organisation, and can you see what steps and actions need to be taken to support translating them into reality?
Our priorities and approach
The Roddick Foundation was established by Gordon and Anita Roddick, founders of The Body Shop. We are entrepreneurial and activist, driving innovative programmes and focusing on people and organisations that take unconventional approaches to advancing justice and empowering communities. We do this through two areas of work; grant making and initiating and incubating system-change projects. Historically some of these include initiating and incubating the Big Issue and 38 Degrees.
Current projects include indigenous rights in Canada and Brazil, a farming cluster project in Wales and creating new ways of trading with indigenous food growers.
The projects are led by Sam Roddick who is a creative entrepreneur and who brings her creative and intuitive abilities to being an activist and leading visionary projects. This role will work closely with Sam who is neurodivergent and the postholder will support her to transform her ideas and creativity into tangible work projects.
About the role and you
This is a truly unique position. It is going to bring a new capacity to the great projects we run. You’ll be integrated into our talented and warm community of colleagues. What we need from the postholder are the creative skills to fully communicate Sam’s ideas and the work to a wide range of people and partners, and the organisational skills to support pacing and planning of projects, creating systems and processes to advance and document progress and learning. They will act as a kind of bridge, relaying Sam’s vision and ideas once they have been conceptualised to various project managers, partners, and other audiences. It’s important to say also that there are elements of some traditional PA support that are required.
If this is how your creativity operates – enabling bridges to be built and creating effective communications – then you might be the person Sam, and the projects, need.
The successful candidate may come from any of a wide array of relevant backgrounds, such as: creative writing, communications, public affairs, campaigning, advocacy, policy influencing, media work, etc. Their career to date could be any number of settings: from film or theatre to think-tanks, to NGOs or international development, to private companies, to research or academia etc. The bottom line is that we are open to where you have honed your communications and organisational skills, and we are excited to hear from you.
How to apply
Please download the candidate information pack (attached). The pack contains lots of information about the role and how to apply (by uploading your CV and a short video, together with a completed equal opportunities monitoring form). The closing date is 20 January 2025.
If you require any further information or you would like to discuss anything in more detail, please contact Allyson Davies via the details in the pack.

Who we are
Animal Equality is an international animal protection organisation working with society, governments and companies to end cruelty to farmed animals. Animal Equality has offices in the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Brazil and India.
Animal Equality releases investigative materials captured from inside factory farms and slaughterhouses, exposing the conditions that farmed animals face around the world. We publish our findings on television, in newspapers and online. We routinely secure mainstream media coverage, including on the BBC, ITV, Sky news, The Times, the Guardian, New York Times and many more.
Animal Equality also advocates for political change. Our current campaigns include a UK ban on foie gras imports, increased enforcement of existing animal protection laws, legal protections for farmed fish, and Government subsidies for transitioning towards a plant-based food system.
We focus on farmed animals because of the scale and severity of the issue. More than a billion animals are confined and killed for human consumption every year in the UK. Farmed animals also often suffer in some of the worst ways: pigs typically endure painful mutilations, many chickens die of heart attacks, fish are confined in underwater cages, and some farmed animals are victims of deliberate abuse and neglect. But the problem is solvable! By utilising effective campaigning strategies, Animal Equality is having an impact for animals around the world and building a future where all animals are respected and protected and are no longer exploited for human consumption.

The initiative connects grassroots voices with decision-makers, amplifying local stories and strategically placing stories to drive change and redefine public and political narratives.
