Job description

Recruiting a vibrant youth worker with an understanding of social care and children's services to lead our team of mentors to be the positive change in young people's lives. Meticulous and thorough in their written ability we are looking for someone to also be the main Safeguarding Lead to ensure that all our practice is keeping young people safe, as well as working with MASH, exploitation team, police and youth justice teams to ensure that a truly mulitageny approach is given towards safeguarding our young people. 

The role will involve:

· Organise the referrals that come to Urban Heard from CCN and other agencies.

· Ensure that we have an appropriate number of trained mentors and take care in assigning appropriate mentors with young people who are most likely to thrive with them.

· Manage the Joy App for Urban Heard ensuring that the updates are kept thoroughly and accurately.

· Ensure that the mentoring handbook is kept up to date and appropriate.

· Ensure that supervisions and debriefs occur with mentors and undergo some form of quality checks to ensure consistency across all sessions.

· Manage mentors to ensure that they are delivering their sessions on time and effectively, reporting back efficiently.

· Hold a small case load of mentees that will need more experience to support.

· Attend or support colleagues to attend relevant stakeholder meetings regarding the young people to do with Child Protection Conferences, Child in Need meetings, Strategy meetings, Risk Management Meetings, school meetings and any other meeting where safeguarding is discussed about a young person we are supporting.

· Be an advocate for the young person with external stakeholders and ensure they have their say and feel that they have someone who is there for them.

· Report back to CCN with required feedback and reports and report back to the Projects Manager and CEO when needed.

· Ensure that all staff have safeguarding training, trauma informed practice training and motivational interviewing training as well as any others that you feel is needed.

· Support when possible on other projects and general youth centre activities.

· Be the senior youth worker at the centre when open access sessions for cover when the Project Manager is not there.
