About us

Who we are

Young people have a right to good health and high quality accessible healthcare

The Association for Young People’s Health (AYPH) is the UK’s leading independent voice for young people’s health.  We work to understand and meet the particular health and wellbeing needs of 10-25 year olds. Our vision is for all young people to have the best possible health and equal access to high quality youth friendly services.  Our work bridges the worlds of policy, practice and evidence and involves young people throughout.  We lead youth engagement in the NHS and multiple academic projects and have a team of young trainers that work with us to design and deliver training on health inequalities, youth friendly care and ethical engagement.  All of our work is backed up by the evidence including via our Youth Health Data Hub.

Our culture and values

Our vision

All young people have the best possible health and equal access to high quality youth friendly services.

Our mission

We work with everyone to understand and meet the particular health and wellbeing needs of 10-25 year olds. Young people and their rights are at the centre of everything we do.

Our priorities for change:

  • Young people’s voice and lived experience is heard and acted upon in health policy, research and practice

  • Health services have the capacity, resources and skills to be effectively youth friendly

  • Young people’s health inequalities are reduced

  • Young people live in environments and communities that support and nurture good health

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

The Association for Young People’s Health recognises and is opposed to all forms of oppression, prejudice and discrimination. AYPH aims to ensure that no one will receive less favourable treatment on the grounds of sex, sexuality, marital status, religion, disability, race, culture, age, class, ethnicity or nationality.

AYPH is committed to combating all forms of oppression by taking positive steps to ensure that we do not perpetuate these through our employment practices, the development and delivery of our services to members and other users, young people and the wider community.
