We are hiring! We have a job vacancy for an Early Intervention Project Worker to join Shine.

Shine has a membership of over 14,000 members living with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus and associated conditions and over 6,500 associated members.

Our Little Stars project for 0–12-year-olds has been established for over 5 years supporting younger members and their families with their diagnosis and beyond. We also have a growing Teen membership known as FIRE (Friendship, Independence, Resilience, Equality) Working alongside our multi skilled, established team, you will be supporting members across all age groups and building on the great foundations already in place. 

We are looking for an Early Intervention Project Worker who can cover the South of England, primarily you will be home based, supporting members through phone calls and using online platforms.  You will be required to attend clinics, events and meet members one to one where necessary within your allocated area and occasionally across wider areas and nationally. 

Purpose of the role 

• To deliver Shine's Little Stars (funded by The National Lottery Community Fund) project for 0–12-year-olds, supporting early years and younger members with their families, their diagnosis and beyond across the Southern Region. To provide advice, support and guidance to enable people with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus to access the correct benefits to become financially stable, the right services to improve their health and well-being, and to better co-ordinate their support and independence through a variety of methods. 

• To improve the life wellbeing of children 0-12 years old with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus by promoting independence and providing them and their families with early intervention support. 

• To create a community whereby those affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus can connect with others, are empowered through knowledge and feel confident in the support networks surrounding them.

• We build communities between people with Prader-Willi syndrome, their families and the professionals who support them to share knowledge and expertise and improve outcomes for people with Prader-Willi syndrome and their families everywhere.
• We want everyone with Prader-Willi syndrome to get equal access to diagnosis and treatment no matter where in the world they live and to ensure better, more consistent outcomes for people with the syndrome and their families.
• We work to ensure research into the condition works for everyone and reflects the diverse experiences and environments of those living with the syndrome around the world today.
• Our membership comprises PWS associations in 47 countries and we support individual families and professionals in over 70 other countries.
• We have a staff team of four who work in conjunction with dedicated volunteers from around the world.

Key Fundraising Responsibilities

• Develop communications content that will invigorate our existing donors and inspire new ones leading to increased giving by individuals to IPWSO.
• Focusing in particular on our website and social media channels, communicate our achievements, impacts and needs with a view to influencing IPWSO’s online supporters to make donations and engage in fundraising initiatives.
• Provide outstanding donor care to encourage a high level of retention and repeat donations.
• Work with IPWSO’s Fundraising Committee on a variety of fundraising initiatives, which may include a new collaborative global fundraiser to be rolled out in 2025.
• Act as the organisational lead for IPWSO’s CRM (Donorfy) and utilise it to improve the donor journey.
• Develop a robust pipeline of case studies for use in our fundraising campaigns.

Key Communications Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for IPWSO’s public email address and social media channels and ensure that timely and appropriate replies are issued.
• Manage IPWSO’s social media channels, creating original and engaging posts, and actively engaging with our audiences.
• Manage Google Ad Grant campaigns with an emphasis on growing our supporter base and increasing individual giving.
• Keep up to date with emerging trends in digital communications and social media, and recommend potential new channels for fundraising and audience engagement.
• Maintain and develop the IPWSO website ensuring its security and that it functions both as an effective supporter acquisition tool and a means by which people can easily access information about PWS.
• Produce compelling monthly newsletters and an Annual Report.
• Review and update IPWSO’s Communications Strategy in line with its Strategic Plan.
• Uphold and showcase the IPWSO mission and brand.
• Working with IPWSO’s Publication and Communication Committee, oversee the production and design of a range of educational resources for families and professionals.
• Oversee copywriting and proofreading within IPWSO.
• Support IPWSO’s members and liaise with its stakeholders internationally in support of our shared goals.

Job Description

To take the lead in recruiting volunteers across Yellow Submarine’s projects and activities and provide support to volunteers enabling them to carry out their roles through training and pastoral support.

The successful applicant requires exceptional organisational ability and a willingness to support and get involved. They must be flexible, have the ability to solve issues whilst being responsive to the needs of the organisation and the needs of our members. They must work with colleagues across the organisation to ensure the charity’s volunteer needs are met and that both volunteers and members feel well supported.

Key Duties*

• Safe recruitment of volunteers across the organisation and projects; this will include the development of relationships with key sources of volunteers e.g. schools, colleges etc.

• Management of volunteers across the organisation; providing support and supervision. This will include any students or interns on placements with Yellow Submarine.

As a Specialist Caseworker, you will provide peer supervisory support to the team within the wider hospital-based services, which includes deputising for the Senior Caseworker when required, and support the Data Coordinator and Senior Caseworker with the collation of information and data for project monitoring purposes.  You will develop and maintain an up-to-date and accurate resource of suitable onward referrals and develop and maintain strong relationships with both clinicians and hospital staff and with other services in the hospital, i.e. CAMHS, IDVA, COMPASS.

We are a well-established, independent charity based in Tunbridge Wells, Kent and this is an exciting part-time opportunity for you to join our small and friendly team. 

The role
We are looking for a dynamic and compassionate Mental Health Trainer to deliver short courses to groups of people in our community to improve their mental wellbeing. You will also deliver mental health awareness workshops to corporates and other organisations in and around the Tunbridge Wells area, and help to facilitate internal workshops with staff and volunteers. The main duties and responsibilities are:

1. Course Development:

• Design and develop short courses for specific groups of people in our community, with information and tools to enable people to manage their mental wellbeing, ensuring content is evidence-based, culturally sensitive, and relevant to diverse audiences.
• Develop workshops for corporates and other organisations on mental health and steps they can take to promote mental wellbeing in their workplace or organisation.

2. Course Delivery:

• Facilitate engaging and interactive short courses and workshops on mental health, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
• Provide practical tools and strategies for managing mental health and promoting mental wellbeing.

3. Participant Engagement:

• Foster a participatory and non-judgmental atmosphere that encourages open discussion and sharing among participants.
• Respond to participant questions and concerns with empathy and expertise.

5. Promotion:

• Work with the Marketing Manager to develop and disseminate marketing and promotional materials and activities for the short courses.
• Attend events and meetings, and deliver talks, to promote the courses, training and the work of the wider charity.

6. Evaluation and Feedback:

• Collect and analyse feedback from participants to continually improve course content and delivery, and share feedback with colleagues.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the courses and workshops and make adjustments as needed.

An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.

You will have experience of supporting people with complex mental health issues, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong networking and presentation skills and a passion for raising awareness about mental wellbeing. As a Mental Health Trainer, you will play a crucial role in representing the charity and enhancing the mental wellbeing of our community through the delivery of engaging and informative short courses and workshops.

The role is office-based, with days and hours to suit where possible, and scope for flexibility and some working from home.

Access to green space is a social justice issue and we aim to reduce inequalities by understanding and engaging under-served communities to make parks more accessible, inclusive and welcoming spaces. As a growing organisation, we are seeking a motivated Head of Programmes to join our senior leadership team and lead the delivery of our programmes.

The Role
As the Head of Programmes, you will play a pivotal role in delivering our 2023-2026 strategy. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will manage a team of five project leads and oversee a diverse range of programmes centred around health, nature, and access. You will ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of all projects, while also supporting the development of new partnerships and funding opportunities.

This is a new position with significant potential to shape the role and make a meaningful impact on the communities of Bristol and Bath. You will lead the introduction of new systems and processes, improve reporting mechanisms, and ensure our projects deliver outstanding results.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage programme delivery, ensuring all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
• Line manage a team of five project leads, fostering a supportive and inclusive culture.
• Develop new processes for project management, information handling, and impact reporting.
• Work closely with stakeholders, including local authorities and funders, acting as the face of the charity in key meetings.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including GDPR and safeguarding.
• Lead on environmental impact reporting and develop our baseline methodology.
• Ensure lived experience guides our work and is embedded in our decision making.
• Represent Your Park at strategic meetings, building strong partnerships and securing future opportunities.

Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is passionate about access to parks, nature and community. You will have proven experience in managing programmes and teams, ideally in the fields of health, nature, or access. You should be a natural problem-solver with an entrepreneurial flair and will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with research experience to work within a team of experts in research strategy development, research delivery and research policy, to communicate the outputs of our research funding to diverse stakeholders across the charity.    

About the role

You will work within a dynamic and friendly team to help support our Research Programme Managers to develop and manage the Versus Arthritis research portfolio. This will include collating and monitoring data from diverse sources to help provide oversight of our funded research. You will also work closely with other colleagues to translate our research outputs into a format that is clear and impactful to help teams across the charity achieve their strategic objectives. 

 You will work across a diverse range of projects and will liaise with a wide range of teams from across the charity to help us to tell the story of our research investment.    

 About you

If your knowledge, skills and experience include the following then we’d love to hear from you:

• A degree or equivalent level of experience in scientific, medical or research related domains via the charity, commercial, health, higher education or publishing sectors.  
• Comfortable in working with research related metrics and data, with some experience of understanding and preparing medical/scientific information for non-specialist audiences. 
• High quality verbal and written communication skills including being able to communicate complex information and requirements to a wide range of audiences and stakeholders. 
• A flexible and collaborative approach; able to work closely and adaptively with immediate team and collaboratively across the organisation. 
• Good information technology skills, including effective database/PubMed/internet search techniques and significant experience of using Microsoft Office packages. 
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines independently, including rapid turnaround requests.
